He sat at the table, knowing he was back. It was another day, but his phone had said it was marking close to 3 weeks here. Often times he didn't want the time Soarca allowed him in his own body and instead drifted as she made more use from it. Her work was far more interesting to him, but he could feel himself drifting. He could feel himself sinking in. He could feel that temptation to let things go grow strong and stronger.

It was time to go.

"I think it might be good I go home soon." He looked up at her, ashamed he hadn't lasted longer when she still seemed to have so much to do. "I can come down again of course. I just...need a bit of a refresher."

The woman's face grew still and calculating before her shoulder lifted slightly in a half shrug. "I'll need you back here after awhile, but the first and second sections are done."

Two bars of strange metal, covered in small, unlit appeared on the table and Melvin would realize that they'd always been on the table, he could remember his hands placing them there every day for the past two weeks and promptly forgetting them. How many other things was he simply not allowed to see, even as they sat before him?

"Take them. Charge them. The first needs the power of your kind, Fear energy transformed into something cold and human. The second needs the power of Fear in its raw form. When you come back, we'll make the third and final piece, and see if the City can..." her voice faltered, she didn't seem happy at about it, not sad either...a little afraid. Unsure. "To see if it can once again be a place of life."

Of its of volition, Melvin's hand reached out to grab one of the bars. It was two feet long with good heft and as his thumb brushed a small raised portion, a long blade extended out. The other would prove the same.

There was a pendant around his neck, he'd realize and understand it was like the Deus one, it would bring him directly back here, to this room, if he chose.

"Bring Babel with you. It'll be both your monitor and protector."

The fish separated from the tile of the floor, rising to float peaceably around his head.

"The Fallen City has places its remaining hope within you, Melvin. Don't..." a pause, "...don't ******** this up."

Rods as weapons : 2d12-4, no charges
The Rod of Mortality : to charge this piece, Melvin must fight or spar 7 other Hunters (using their weapon)
The Rod of Immortals : to charge this piece, Melvin must fight or spar with 7 students/alumni of Halloween

Babel :
- can actively translate any language being spoken into Melvin's mind. Since the translation is a psychic ability, if someone says something in another language while meaning something else, Babel will translate the meaning, not the exact word. (example : the speaker calls Melvin "my friend" while thinking "butthole" the translation will end up calling Melvin "my butthole")
- will remove Melvin to Atlantis if he is in mortal danger, if he attempts to take the rods apart, if he tries to give them to someone else
- had built in self defense, anyone besides Melvin attempting to touch babel will receive a paralysis shock to their hand
- cannot travel more than 10 feet from Melvin
- cannot blend into architecture outside of Atlantis or Atlantean structures
- can understand basic instructions such as "hide" "stay" "come here" "repeat that"

He sat there, frozen as he saw the flickering of his own eyes somehow focusing in on the rods as if they were mundane and had always been there but not important enough to focus on till now. Not mundane.....just everyday? Had been there. Somehow a inkling of familiarity like a lamp your grandmother always had or a favorite cane your uncle always used. A fixture important to someone, but always there that you had memories of it but could always just pass by it due to it being present. They had been there, and he had remembered them but only now as she allowed a blind to be lifted to shed light on parts of his own memories. The days always seemed so shorts with her. How much of it had been lost? What parts of Atlantis had he walked everyday without knowing where he was?

But his body was given. He gave it to her. She could do with it whatever she wanted. He didn't have to remember because he didn't' have that trust to remember. He gave it to her, and she had to be the one to decide what she gave in return. There was no entitlement. She might have needed his help, but he wasn't sure how much of a need there was for a ancient city.

Not until her voice seemed to falter. Not until she looked, possibly the first time ever since seeing her, unsure. The radiating confidence flickering. All that time. All that work. None of it was sure to have a result. If anything, the trust was a experiment. It was a hope.

The rods felt strange in his hands now despite having always touched them all this time. With a press of his fingers, the blade came out, a weapon he wasn't familiar with, but knew were important. Lowering them, he looked across the table at her.

"I won't." There wasn't an option for failure here. "I'll be back. We'll do this. I promise." More than anything he wanted to see Atlantis as it was. As it could be.
