Hello,

This message is being sent to all sailor soldiers, knights, and Mauvians who can receive it. Some of you have met me. Some of you haven’t.

My name is Hvergelmir Knight of the Cosmos.

I’ve been involved in this conflict for about five years now. Some of you have been doing this much longer than that. Some of you are still experiencing it for the first time. We all share some of the same struggles — but we haven’t all struggled together. Too often, we face our trials alone. It can be hard to remember that somewhere, someone else out there might have stared down a crossroads similar to your own. Every person has a different story to tell. Every person’s path winds in its own way.

But one thing most of us share is this: the road we walk down is a hard one, and few of us ever expected or prepared for anything like it. Something as heavy as war takes its toll on everyone it touches: whether that’s in the lives we’ve taken, the loved ones we’ve lost, or just the struggle of waking each day to face another tomorrow that’s just as difficult as yesterday. The things we’ve seen, or done, or felt, can be crushing. Pressure, fear, guilt, or anguish can drive us into corners. The world can be awful.

I’m not a professional counselor. I can’t promise anything I can do for you will solve any problems. But one thing we have is a network that lets us reach out to each other when we need to — and I’m reaching out to you now.

I’m here for you, if you ever want to talk to someone. Whoever you are. Whatever you’ve done; whatever you’ve been through. Whatever you’re thinking of doing. Whatever you’re dealing with. I’ll be keeping a vigil on Monday and Thursday nights at the gazebo in Fishtown Park. If you want to talk, you can find me there — or just send me a message and we’ll find a time.

I’m happy to be a listening ear, or to give you advice, if I can. If you need a break, or a helping hand, you can always come and see me. Even if we’ve never met — this life is the bond we share. The secret we all keep together.

Know that you are not alone. And find me, if you want to talk to someone. I’ll listen.

With all my heart,
Hvergelmir Knight of the Cosmos

She'd received the mass invitation and had been unsure what to do about it. She ached to talk to someone who was wanting and willing to listen. What she feared though was judgement in her desire to keep pursuing her intentions. She didn't need a confrontation about what she was doing, because it wouldn't help matters. She needed counsel. Someone to listen and give advice. It took several readings of the message to come to a conclusion on what she should do. So, with conviction the young Eternal saved the text.

The evening was a crisp one. The day had been warm and a cooling rain had fallen just after night fell. The heated pavements cooled so rapidly that a low fog hung like a sea on the ground. It moved and with each step Harmonia made as it swirled and wafted around her ankles in an almost mystifying way.

Fishpark was not difficult to find nor the gazebo in question. The Knight's signature was like a beacon in the dark leading the teenager to her destination. The woman she found was not what she had expected. Hvergelmir looked like royalty. So elegant and poised in her long dress and pale hair pulled up. Harmonia found herself staring for a second before snapping out of her stupor.

No, this was not what she had expected at all.

Stepping up carefully, green eyes never wavering from the woman, Harmonia gave a smile and dipped her head in greeting, her blue and pink curls bobbing with the motion. "Um, excuse me. Are you Hvergelmir? If you are, I um, I got your message and was wondering if you had time to talk?" She paused awkwardly before realizing what she said. "I mean, if you have no one else here that is more pressing."

Hvergelmir knew better than to expect too much business on her first few days. At her bench, she liked to find a variety of ways to pass the time -- but here, at least for a while, she wanted to look particularly professional: not as a therapist (because she wasn't actually one), but as a knight. Sometimes the littlest things could make the wrong impression, and with this new work, she was still starting from the ground up.

Accordingly, she sat at the bench she'd chosen, reclining slightly so that she could comfortably lean her distaff against her shoulder while she spun. The thread that ran between her fingers was pale and ghostly, spinning in the lamp-lit dark, and at the end of it, a tidy iridescent bundle of it was slowly accumulating on its spindle.

She looked up at the newcomer's approach. The young woman before her still had the vibrancy of high school, or maybe college. She wore her hair long and loose, in pale pastel blue with contrasting tips, and there was a sort of whimsy to her uniform, as well. It put Hvergelmir in mind of a carousel horse, or something like it: festive, but in a well-to-do sort of way. Cheerful but not inexpensive. It added to the youthfulness of the girl's look.

She smiled warmly. "I'm Hvergelmir. Come and sit. Tell me your name -- and then tell me what it is that you think isn't so very pressing, and we'll try and figure it out together."

The knight set her staff to one side, hooking the spindle along its crest of antlers, and then slid over to make room on the bench.

“I am Harmonia.” She offered with a smile. curiosity sparking, but attention quickly pulled back to the pale haired woman. Harmonia couldn’t help but note that the Knight was pretty. Gorgeous even, and she blushed slightly at the realization that she probably looked stark comparison to someone so elegant. With that in mind, Harmonia hesitated a moment, hands pulling at the front of the skirt of her fuku, before relenting and sliding into the now vacant space upon the bench.

“Um, well, I am Harmonia.” She started, eyes sliding from her skirt where fingers played with the lace ruffles to the woman beside her. “And I don’t know if it’s so much of a problem as it is I need some help figuring out what I should do at this point?” Turning her body so she faced the woman more head on, a booted foot was pulled up onto the bench in a half crossed leg position. Hands, no longer fiddling with her fuku, rested upon her calf. “I’ve been meeting with a Lieutenant and she seems terribly nice. Well…” She paused a moment. “She has her moments where she’s a bit scary, but overall I am worried about her. I think she may be considering purifying, but she hasn’t come to a decision yet.”

Her bottom lip met top teeth as she chewed softly at it. “I...I am not sure if I am doing the right thing by talking to her. We meet weekly now to chat and so I know she’s still alright. Theres been a few times that I’ve seen her and she’s been hurt and beaten. Actually, she said part of it was that she got caught seen with me and…” She heaved a sigh, her sentences had been rushed and hurried. “Should I keep meeting with her? Perhaps she’d be better off if I didn’t? Maybe I am doing this all wrong, but I do want to help her.”
