The water has turned it into a strange swamp and, in addition to the terrible smell, people have claimed to see strange floating lights—or, weirder—a strange, hulking figure that seems right at place in the swamp. Some have described it as being seven feet tall, covered in moss and weeds and mud and who knows what else; while no one has been able to confirm this, if you venture too close you might wind up observing something strange, yourself. The park no longer feels safe and if you wander too close you may feel hateful eyes upon you. You may even wind up chased out by a monstrous swamp monster, but if you try to approach him or interact otherwise, he seems to disappear. It’s probably best just to stay away from the park until the water dries up, just in case. The knight who was yet to be a full knight was doing everything in his power to not use his magic if only because he wasn't sure if he preferred the smell of decaying flesh that was his magic to the smell of whatever it was that currently made up the temporary swamp. It was much too cold to be a proper swamp in his mind. Swamps were supposed to be humid and muggy. This was just cold and damp and disgusting. Not to mention as he skirt the edges, entirely unsettling. He may have worn a mask made of bone from a vague draconic entity, but that hardly meant he was made of sterner things. Like being able to handle the idea that in addition to a gross, nasty swamp in the park, there was also a resident swamp monster. Gagging at the idea of having to face such a thing, Paris didn't register the fact that nearby someone else of order was being subjected to the same stench and feeling of maliciousness from the entity that lurked within the murky depths of the impromptu swamp. At least not until he rounded a tree and saw a tony thing in white and grey near the water's edge.

It was getting closer to Fall! Giulia loved Fall. She liked the way that the leaves changed, and the way that the weather got cooler, and soon she would be able to pull out the pretty coats, and the nice dresses, and her costumes! Oh, she did so love playing dress up, when she could. That was why she liked being Cha-ryb-dis... like the sea monster! It was like being able to play dress up all the time! She felt like a real princess, but she was a chee bee or something. A magic person, just like Ara! That was kind of cool. Lucia had, of course, been one of the first people that she told. Giulia got to fight evil- it was her job!
The down side to this job was exploring by herself. She'd been told she wasn't supposed to go places by herself, but she couldn't tell her bodyguards or Amelie where she was going, that would be silly. And she wasn't supposed to tell just anyone that she was magic, because that put her and them in lots and lots of trouble! Which meant, of course, she just had to suck it up and be brave.
Which was why she was here, super late at night, looking for a spooky scary swamp monster. Like- like those weird old movies! The black and white ones with the screaming ladies, that made Jada roll her eyes, and Zora throw popcorn at the screen. Really, it smelled bad here though. She didn't remember the movies talking about the fact it smelled like someone had taken a really bad poop in the school bathroom and let it sit. But there were supposed to be funky lights, and a scary monster-man, so... she'd just have to wash her nose out.
"Huh." her hands went to her hips, tiny hands balled into a fist. "Why would anyone want to live here? Hey! Mr. Monster! Come out! I want to talk to you!"

The sudden yelling of what sounded to be a small child, the very person he saw, had Paris jumping out of his skin. No one should have been around this time of night, let alone a child. His reaction was to fumble the skull in his hand and promptly fall into the swampy water. It tasted vile, and when he stood up from the brackish muck, he cringed at the feeling of slick mud and angle on his skin. He also probably looked revolting, covered in muck and grime. "He-hello?" Paris stuttered, sloshing through the muck towards the little girl. "w-w-why are you out so late? Shouldn't you- shouldn't you be at home?"

Charybdis was terrible afraid, with the swamp monster on the loose, even though she had been the one who came to this smelly place to try and hunt the swamp creature down; she could feel the eyes on her, and her small body gave a powerful shiver under the invisible gaze. The monster was supposed to be real big and real tall, and frankly, Giulia was already short to begin with. So she was going to be looking for a real big, real dirty monster-shape.
It was unfortunate that the monster coming towards her seemed to fit the bill quite perfectly in her estimation, sloshing at her with a skull in hand. Charybdis' screech of fear was loud, her response quick. "Seal pup!" she shrieked, and a sparkling, shimmering baby seal made its appearance- right before her tiny body launched itself at him, a muddy stick in hand.
"Of course I should be at home!" she yowled, swinging the skinny stick at his hip, "But I am looking for bad swamp monsters like you!"

Whatever he'd been expecting, a tiny seal pup magically appearing and knocking him over was not it in the slightest. Shoved backwards into the muck and grime with a splash, he grunted before coughing, the stench starting to get to him. This was awful, no to shakes about it. Plus ow- was she- ow yes. She was hitting him with a stick. What had he done to deserve this? Oh- right. Have a skull helm and carry a skull and probably look like he was a monster covered in muck and grime as he was. "I'm not a-" She hit him in a very painful place and he HOWLED.

"You just stay there, bad monster!" she squealed, and beat at him with the stick again. "Whose skull did you steal?!" He had to have- no. If she stayed, she'd be turned into a skull! Charybdis dropped her stick, backing away from what she had done, horrified. "Stay!" What else could she do?! Oh, this was terrible, So bad. She wished she knew bad words, because she could feel the need to say one coming on strong. Why had she come here? And now she had attacked the monster! That was probably- that was prolly super bad-not-good at all. Oh- the monster sounded so pained! "I'm sorry you made me hurt you!" she screeched-
And then she fled. She wasn't sure what else to do. Attacking a swamp monster was a very rude-bad way to make an introduction, and it was probably going to be angry at her! "I'm sorryyyy!" she shrieked again, little feet flapping the ground as she tried to get away from the wrath that was probably going to come.

Paris just yelped at getting hit with a stick, repeatedly. How did her get into this mess again? Oh right. By actually trying to be 'good' at his job and looking into rumors of monsters. This was his own fault really. Kid was just doing what kids.. did. Defend themselves and summon seals. He guessed. The kid, yelling about a stolen skull- 'I didn't-" She hit him again and he whimpered. Just once he'd like to fight and not get hurt a lot. But oh well. She did stop after a while running away, telling him to stay like he might have been a dog and not a person or mistaken monster. Still, he did stay. At least until she was gone and then he could safely get up out of the swamp, power down, and regret ever trying to leave his room and be a hero ever again.
