 Fall was always his favorite time of the year. The wind had started to pick up again, leaves were changing colors everywhere and everyone seemed to be embracing their spooky spirit for lack of a better word. This year it was like something that changed. Everyone was trying to be positive and move past last year. However that was far from want was on Orphe's mind. You see, it was one of those days that the teachers decided to work on the freshling's social skills and they were paired up. Today they were all going to the zoo to well pick an animal to write about, but to also learn about their partner. Orphe signed. It wasn't his favorite assignment. For him pairing up lead to people making fun of his clothing or his mutations. Still he always hoped that one day maybe he would make a friend from one of these assignments. A friend that wasn't related to him. He had gotten to the zoo early and was sitting there waiting to meet his partner. He wasn't nervous, he wasn't. Okay he was extremely nervous.

-Zoo! Zoo, zoo, zoo! The zoo meant animals, people to talk to and, if they were lucky, being out when night fell! Astarii could hardly contain herself on the trip over, bouncing here, there, everywhere! The small kumiho was so excited she almost forgot that she needed to go and meet a partner. Well, maybe it wouldn't be bad! Maybe they'd like her, want to come over for a star viewing one day?
More bouncing ensued until she reached who she figured matched the description she was given well enough. They looked like this was a good season for them!
"Hi!!!" she exclaimed, nearly tripping over herself in excitement. "I'm Astarii!"
Oh, nope, she actually did trip there, very nearly kissing the pavement. Thankfully, she was able to, gracefully, catch herself and only look silly doing odd ballerina twirls to not kill herself by excitement.
"Are you ready?! We're gonna do great! Oh, I'm Astarii, did I say that yet? I did, didn't I? Oh well, now I said hi twice!"

Orphe blinked at the sudden exuberance he was faced with. If he hadn’t been subjected to his younger half-sister, he almost thought he might have been overwhelmed. Now he had a small smile on his face. Zoo’s where pretty cool places. He could see where the excitement came from. He just hoped his sometimes pessimistic realism didn’t damper his partner’s spirit. They did get even more kudos for not mentioning his state of dress or his mutations first thing “Pleasure to meet you Astarii, I’m Orphe” He replied and then lurched forward to catch Astarii. He missed but he was glad that they didn’t face plant on the ground. Fortunately Astarii seemed to bounce right back. “Yeah I think we’re ready. You did mention that. Hi again” he managed to get out.

-"We're gonna do great!" So optimistic was she that she really hadn't realized exactly what he was. It took a moment for her to finally calm down to actually look at her partner.
When she did, her mouth opened and her excitement was mixed with surprise,
but nothing was going to dampen her spirit, apparently.
"You have three eyes! Ohmygosh, you must see so good! Can you see really far? Or is it like having two!? Do you dress yourself!? I wanna dress like that too, you look so cool! And your eyes are so pretty I wanna stare at them a lot, but I won't unless it's okay with you! Are we gonna be able to see all the animals!? I think we can do it if we try!"
Finally, it seemed, she paused to take a breath. Shrugging off the bunny-shaped backpack hanging from her shoulder, she dug into it, pulling out what looked like two notebooks, one decorated with vesperkitties, one with rammykins, and two sets of four different-colored pens. After those were laid on the ground, she started digging more, pursing her lips as she searched.

The excitement was almost infectious, astarii just seemed really excited and maybe Orphe wasn't as tough as he thought. Of course it was right here before the barrage of questions that were suddenly thrown at him. He was taken a bit back but he did catch all of them. Well he was pretty sure he caught all of them. " uh I do have three eyes, although often I keep one of them closed. I think I see as well as a normal person if just a bit worse. I should probably actually wear glasses but I can still see pretty well with out them" Orphe managed to get out before blinking. Yep it was totally like he was standing in front of his youngest sibling. Any moment he was expecting astarii to totally say they should go off and slay some trolls with a bunch of socks. Oh he didn't think it was a bad thing. Where some people might have gotten annoyed pretty fast he could answer slightly fondly at the temperament. " I think we'll do great too" Oh right she had asked about all the animals and his clothes too. " you can keep staring if you want. You aren't doing it maliciously so I don't mind. I can help you find something like what I wear later, if that's what you want. Do to my family I tend to know where all the different clothing stores are, and we got here pretty early. I totally think we can see all the animals" there that should have answered all of him right? As astarii looked through her notebook Orphe tried to think if he had missed anything. Kivras aaaagh sorry this took so long. October kind of exploded on me

-"AHA!"
Astarii yelled, startling some nearby birds from their roosting, pulling out two packs of erasers. Both the pens and the erasers were torn from their packaging, bundled up together, and set on top of the rammykin notebook. the same was done with the other set, and lad down on the vesperkitty notebook. Once finished, the little kumiho nodded, picking up the rammykin notebook and holding it out to her new friend with a wide smile on her face.
"Here! I thought we could take down notes and stuff in notebooks, and, I didn't know if you had one, so I brought you one! You can keep it when we're done!"

Okay he had to admit that the yell had startled him. He just had to take calm breaths. Calm breaths and remember that astarii just had a lot of energy. It was nothing he wasn't used to. However as he was getting his heart back under control, he didn't realize exactly what his companion was doing until a notebook was handed out to him. He did have a notebook, but no one really gave him a gift outside of his family. He carefully took it with almost an awed expression. Oh manners, had to remember manners. " yes taking notes would be an excellent idea. I... I thank you very much" he replied quietly.

-Her gift was given, he didn't toss it away. To her, this basically meant they were absolute best friends, now.
It meant that now, he was subjected to her dissolving into a gigglefit as she hefted her pack back up, her own notebook flipped open to a brand new ready to be written on page.
"Okay! So, uh, we should go and see about the Tortii first..." She mused, almost to herself. "And then go see the Rhinos? Maybe? Iunno, maybe we should go see the cute fluffies first. What do you think?" she may be excited, but she did want to take his opinions into account.

Well he wasn't quite used to that reaction when he accepted a gift. He almost owlishly blinked. Ah well at least she was happy? Yeah he would go with that and just go with the flow like he had decided. Ah okay she was done giggling right? Wait was that directed towards him? He was just gonna say yes and throw in something.oh wait there was a you, definitely some of that was aimed towards him. " seeing the tortii and the rhino first is totally fine with me, I think the big kitties are near that section so maybe we can see them afterwards?" Orphe replied. He had always loved cats but other than just seeing them eventually today he didn't care too much how they went about seeing things.

-Picking up on his preference to the big cats, Astarii put both her bundle of pens and the notebook in one hand, and reached out to very carefully and gently grab her new friend's arm to steer him in the direction of the big cats enclosure.
"I just wanna look, but...We've gotta actually write things. Maybe we can draw a little bit too!" Her mind was buzzing with the possibilities of what they could do with the rest of the day. Friendship was definitely the highlight of the day though! Maybe, just maybe she'd be able to get them something nice if they made a trip to the souvenier shop later!
