 You would think that with all the drama he received in court in a nearly day to day basis that asking one person a simple question would t really be that hard. Then again, was it truly that simple of a question. He supposed he could blame it on the fact he really hadn’t had any significant other before. He hadn’t had time for dating during his academy years, both busy keeping his grades up for his scholarship and transferring into the dorms. When he had finally graduated, he realized he needed to get Oran away from her situation and when he had finally won the rights to be her guardian, she was predictably a mess and he had wanted to be there for her. When that had been straightened out he had gone straight into adopting Keres. So this was his first time being a boyfriend or well something that was moving towards significantly more. How did one even bring this up? He obviously had decided it was something he wanted to do but. Ugh this was frustrating. He ran a hand through his hair. He had talked it over with Oran and Keres obviously since they were a part of the household and had their support. Now it was just asking Lau. Why was this tougher than it had any right to be?

 Laurentia really liked Oberon. While he may never admit it, he was fun to be around. He was smart, and she could just spend hours talking to him, if he'd go for that. It was also a plus that he wasn't another geologist, because she could not stand another badly attempted rock-based pun after getting done with work for the day. She also completely adored his half sister and child. Keres was amazing at playing the violin, and she was more then happy to listen whenever he played, which sadly wasn't often enough. Oran was fun and seemed to find great amusement the first time Laurentia accidentally called him Obi in front of her. Still, it was a really cute nickname, and Lau loved watching his face when she called him that. Today, she was on her way to see Obi and the little ones. She'd been shopping the other day and found some wicked cute star cookie cutters that she wanted to try out with Oran, and maybe subject Obi and Keres to this new cookie recipe she had found and hadn't tried yet. When she reached the man's door she was tempted to just barge in, he did remember she was coming, right? Oh, but what if he was in the middle of something? She hesitated a moment before knocking instead.

Hearing the knock on the door he ruffled his hair back into some semblance of his normal hair style and got up to open the door. Considering the time it was most likely Laurentia, right on time. Of course if he was seriously going to ask her about imbuing it would be helpful if she was actually there to ask. It wasn’t really a conversation you had over the phone. Plus he had sent Oran and Keres out grocery shopping so he really only had an finite time to ask Lau. Even less time if you factored in pleasantries. After all asking to imbue just wasn’t something out normally sprung on someone as soon as they walked through your door. Opening the door, he gave a small smile and stepped aside to let Lau in. He had been correct that he had been her at the door. Thinking about it…. “Right on time. Come on in. Actually you are over enough that I should definitely just get you your own key.” Oberon mused, quickly giving her a hug.

"Hi babe." She smiled as the door opened. Stepping inside, she stood on her tiptoes a second to give him a kiss. "Mmmmh, yeah, sometimes I do feel like I practically live here." She laughed. She stepped past Obi and smiled. "I brought some cookie cutters for Oran, and a recipe I found that sounds like fun." She looked around. "Are the kids here?" She didn't see them. "Oh! Are we alone?" She grinned, plopping down on the couch and pat the seat next to her. "Care for a couch snuggle?"

Oberon could just see Oran’s response to that. However he wasn’t his sister and, he had to remind himself you didn’t spring questions about stones and moving in the second someone walked in the door. Somehow he thought that might become his mantra today. “Well you’re always welcome over. I think I actually will get you that key, but later. Oran will probably go exastic over them. She’s been trying to find ways to create all these haunted hallow type goodies. Both her and Keres are out shopping at the moment, getting supplies for those desert projects. So I guess I wouldn’t mind a couch snuggle as you put it. ” He answered.

"Yay~" Lau laughed, and waited for Oberon to join her. When he sat down, she wasted no time in swinging her legs up over his lap and wrapping her arms around him, resting her head against his shoulder. "Aaaah, much better." She smirked at him. "But you really don't need to go to any trouble over me. I mean, I could just climb in through your window or something." She thought about that a moment. "The neighbors might question that though." She was absolutely being silly. "Mmmmh, making some Haunted Hallow goodies sounds like fun. Do you have a favorite type of goodie? I'd like to make you something special." Not like she didn't bake and cook things for him occasionally, usually when he was busy working. She'd hang out with Oran in the kitchen and make dinner for everyone some times. She liked doing things like that.

“Well at least now I don’t need to worry about getting a blanket” Oberon replied barely resisting the urge to raise an eyebrow. Truthfully Laurentia wasn’t that heavy and he might admit it was a bit nice. “Yeah we have a neighborhood watch and I know way too many of the cops by name. You can just deal with an extra key. Like the one that is in that box over there on the tv stand.” He commented back casually. “Less exciting I know but way less aggravation and annoyance towards my police friends from me.” When she asked about goodies he thought about it. A few months back he would have just given her a face and not answered. “mm anything with raspberries and looking like ghosts is fine with me” was his reply. “If it’s a rather cold day, something salted caramel is nice too.”

"Mmmmh, well it already sounds nicer then my apartment. I mean, having neighbors that blast music at all hours of the night sort of ruins it." She laughed. "I know a few cops by name, but that's only because I've called them on neighbors once or twice..." She blushed a little as Oberon directed her attention towards a box on the table beside the couch. "Hm?" Rather then removing herself from Oberon's lap, Laurentia simply laid back and stretched her arm over her head and reached for the box. She managed to grab it, her legs still in Obi's lap. "You're sly. I like that about you." As she opened the box, she totally didn't hear what Obi said about sweets and... Started screaming as she sat up. "OBI?! WHAT?! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? OMG WHAT IS THIS?!"

When Lau started screaming being a guardian and a father, he went into alert mode instantly and what saved Lau from being deposited on the ground as he dealt with the threat was he recognized the type of scream it was. It wasn’t a death is imminent scream. No this was a happy scream or well it sorta sounded like one. He realized that the whole commotion was due to the… box. Somehow he didn’t think this was due to a key. After all he had told her it was a... ... ........ Oh that was it Oberon was going to curse his sister until her 200th birthday. “She is grounded until her 300th birthday. How did she even find that? I had a whole plan worked out, I was going to ask you to im-” Oberon stopped right there and looked back at Lau. “Yes?”

Her heart was pounding. Oh the nine, this was a ring. Why was there a ring in this box? Obi had said this was a key so she could... Wait. Wait a second. Laurentia looked up at Obi. "You were going to... ask me what?" He had a plan? A plan for what? What was he about to say? Im... im... She blinked at him a few times. No, that's not what he was about to say... right?

Oberon took a deep breath and wished he had the room to maneuver his hand to rub the bridge of his nose. It figures his sister would think he was moving way to slow and switch out the boxes. So of course, now instead of a key Laurentia had seen the ring. He couldn’t really take it back but he wasn’t going to school to be a lawyer for nothing after all. “Well I was going to do something nice. Wait a bit later so you weren’t just literally through the door. Most likely after dinner because apparently that’s what all those magazines say to do it or the like. Don’t ask me how I was going to get rid of Oran and Keres. Anyways I was then going to ask you if you wanted to imbue with me, because well I … I just don’t want to see the rest of my life with anyone but you so obviously if you said yes I would wait until after our trips and then after having you get used to the idea of having a key propose or something to that effect.” He replied with a sigh.

Laurentia was practically vibrating with excitement as Oberon started to explain. He'd been reading magazines about this? GAH! That was so cute! She had a huge grin on her face as she listened to him. "W-well... Since your plans are... already out the window..." She held the box out to him. "How about you ask me proper so I can give you the proper answer?" There was only one answer really. Laurentia liked Oberon. No, she REALLY liked him. She loved him. And it wasn't like they were going to rush anything. They both had business trips coming up, so it would be a while before they could get everything settled. But they could make arrangements, and Lau was likely to call him every night just to see how his day was, and they could always talk. No wait. Wait. She was getting ahead of herself. Obi hadn't REALLY asked her anything yet. But she was smiling at him.

“Okay I will. Laurentia will you marry and imbue with me?” He asked. It wasn’t the most romantic thing, but then he wasn’t really romantic. He was practical, didn’t really believe in fairy tale endings. However he did take her hand in one of his after sliding the ring from the box into his other hand. Maybe that’s why Oran had tried to move things along, although she did more harm than good in terms of his romantic reputation he supposed. There now it was clearly out on the table. However maybe right before they both disappeared for weeks for work wasn’t the best time. One could say there would be plenty of time for second guessing, or at least on Lau’s part. Oberon had been thinking if he wanted to ask this for a while now.

"Without a doubt." She managed to squeak out. Sure, this wasn't exactly how she had pictured she'd get proposed to, but that was the funny thing about fantasy and reality. They never quite meshed. And yet, this was still perfect. It was silly and embarrassing, but still... sweet. She gave his hand a squeeze before he could slip the ring on, then leaned in and gave him a kiss. "You'll have to help me on how to be a good parent." She whispered. "Now, how should we get Oran back for this little stunt?"

"its hard to prank my sister but okay" Oberon replied back after squeezing the hand back and slipping the ring on a rare smile gracing his features. Yeah definitely wasn't how he had structured anything but still it was okay. Maybe he wouldn't ground Oran for eternity.
