Tsallin 1
It had taken some time and no little amount of forays into the Tale with Onlias while Ruulu and Salukis held court in Matori, but he had managed to catch a wild baby kinfa. A task he hoped he never had to do again, if he counted the amount of times he was nearly eaten by cranky adults, who justifiably thought he was going to eat their eggs. Well he would rather not talk about it. He spotted a familiar antennaed head above and rushed to tap the boy on the shoulder. "Rydan do I have a surprise for you."

Rydan had been sent to the market to pick up leeks He wasn't fond of them but it seemed as though his father could not live without them. He turned with burning suspicion in his gaze until he recognized the excited leafling behind him. "Oh hello Tsa, I trust you have been well?" His Father would not want him to forget his manners after all.

He was bemused at how quickly the boy's attitude had changed from steely suspicion to bemused politeness. Mercurial to say the least, however he rather thought that if he looked like Ry he too wouldhave an extra dose of caution. As it was though he looked like a leafling, people would have to see his twin to draw the proper conclusion. "I am more than well." He brought out the package with air holes that shuddered violently. "Lets go into the shadows, folk need not snoop into our buisness."

Rydan looked perplexed at the proferred package but led Tsa to a place off the beaten path, a quiet place in one of the many alleys leading to the main road. After peerig around to make sure they were not overheard he turned back to Tsallin to put voice to his questions.
"What is in that bag? Why all of the secrecy?" He tilted his head inquiringly.

"Well why don't you come and say hello." Tsa grinned. "But mind him he bites hard enough for a critter twice his size." Tsa revealed. He moved closer and stuck a finger under some of the binding releasing it. A fluffy feathered head swung around glaring and making angry eagle noises.

"Its a kinfa! How on earth did you get one so fast?" Rydan was pretty sure that he had never been this excited ever, even if the bird in question looked like it would happily eat the both of them if it was given the chance and was just a little bit bigger than it was.

"Well its complicated he is wild caught though and through no little amount of trickery, managed to scoop him after he imprinted o his parents, sadly, but the good thing about that is he will know he is a kinfa, the bad thing is he will be a bit harder to gentle I think. His parents were titians and you know what they say about genetics and whatnot. What runs in the family stays in the family but hes the best I could do. Sorry about the temperament."

Rydan didn't care he was a patient guy he could deal with saucey characteristics. It was like a gift from the gods,he had asked around and kinfa were almost impossible to catch. Of course this angry little bird was far from tame, but he was confident that with time he and this small bird would grow to love each other as strong partners. "Does he have a name yet?"

"Actually no, I thought I would give you the honors." Tsallin handed the precious bundle over to the pale youngling. "You know the silver black and green works for you." He smiled. Onlias fluttered onto his shoulder to chat companionably with the other kinfa which due to stress reasons and Tsa not wanting to be eaten by its parents had been bundled up for the entirety of the journey.

Rydan took the bird like it was a bomb. A precious feathery bomb. "I think I will call him Tartarus." Rydan very carefully and bravely patted the kinfa's head, taking care to keep away from the beak. He earned himself a deep and soul crunching glare. "Hey look, progress!"

"Of course he will like you marginally more, your not the meanie that took him from his nest and his pretty blue sister which I also kinda want now but too scared to go for at the moment. Besides you can only ride one kinfa at a time. They bond so close to their people its downright magical."

Ry arched a brow at his companion, for someone older Tsallin wasn't very conventional. He shook his head. "Well lets get him settled then, I'm sure that being cooped up like this for so long is not very comfortable...not that I've been tied up before but you hear things."
He wasn't going to expound where one heard things, there was always strange talk about the marketplaces after all between the fish hawking and the baker's squalls.

"I should be getting back to Ruulu soon, she will be waitng, and the gods know shes not that patient about it...at all really. I by far have more of it, but I expect in war she might outstrip me, something about tactical intrigue and stuff." He waved a hand airily.
"Do you think those bug things will be back anytime soon?"

Rydans feelers drooped. "I hope they will not be back at all I worry that my family is unprepared to face them if they should return. I know they will do their best but my parents are still so much in love I wonder how focused on the threat they actually are."
They had his sister to consider too. He was unsure of how she would develop, would she take a peaceful path or become a fighter he knew not. He would fight and soon he woukd fight with his kinfa at his side. Tartarus was still very young but he woild not be small forever.

"I know the feeling, what has happened could even touch my family in Oba, I am sure my mother is wkrried I will have to send a letter to her explaining that I am okay and will be home soon. I am sure Ruulu will want to visit her family too in the light of recent events."
Once again Tendaji had a specter of evil over it but this was no rogue tribe but something they could all band together and fight against as one, which gave him hope.
