[Backdated to 4.23.17] - [x]

Most of her communication with Colin Hargrove, when not in person, often came in the form of text messages. Texts made for a simpler form of conversation, allowing for the difference in schedules without the worry or stress of missed calls. They allowed a reference point for memory's sake when it came to keeping track of agreed upon times to meet that might have otherwise gone forgotten without a pen or pencil to take notes during a phone conversation.

That being the case, it made phone conversations all the more important. It meant that calls were placed for reasons and calls placed for reasons were meant to be answered.

The sound of Colin's voice on the other end of the line tugged at her heart. She called Luc to cancel their trip to the stars, letting her cousin know that they could continue their mapping and exploration of the castle at another time. With everything that was going on with Colin right now, he needed to escape and she had every intention of helping him do so.

Cordelia Carden showed up at the home of Colin Hargrove with a picnic basket and Mauvian in tow. "C'mon, Colin. We're leaving town for the day. I've got a place in mind that's out of this world."

Despite many protests that she didn't need to drop everything to come to see him, the fact of the matter was that with the way they communicated, the importance of the fact that he had in fact called her said otherwise.

He'd been sad, upset. Angry. Hurt.

And even though Cordy said she was going to come over, he hadn't quite expected it, so when she showed up on his doorstep with basket and Mauvian, Colin was unprepared to go anywhere. He was wearing yoga pants in an eye-searing tiger print and an oversize white shirt with black print that said "fight me, I'm a ballerina" on it (as well as some coffee stains that were suspiciously in the shape of cat feet.

Atop a Star Trek themed scratching post, an amiable calico named Tribble stretched and peered over at the 'intruders'; she was well used to her human having 'guests' and so didn't bother moving. Even the Mauvian got no more than a cursory look of only mild interest before the feline re-positioned her sizeable bulk on the topmost nook.

"Oh, Cordy. I...didn't- I'm not ready. Um, come on in. Give me a minute." Old episodes of the original Star Trek were playing on a flat-screen TV mounted to the wall, on screen McCoy was jabbing Kirk with a hypospray. "Make yourselves at home." Colin's voice trailed as he moved from the main living space down the hall to the bedroom so he could change, shirt coming off along the way.

Cordelia didn't mean to stare after him as he stripped out of his shirt-- that wasn't the type of relationship the two of them had-- but she couldn't quite help herself. When she realized what she was doing she glanced down, face flushed from a bit of shame and a side of embarrassment. She turned towards the scratching post to peer at Colin's cat instead. What was it he'd called her when speaking of her before? Tribble?

"If I make myself at home we'll both be on your couch binge watching TOS all day and that won't be much of a distraction. Maybe over dinner later? Unless you'd rather stay where we're going." They could-- for a day, at least. She'd restocked after her week long stay enough for an overnight if Colin decided he wanted to spend the night staring at the stars over a different part of space.

"You should leave the yoga pants on. I don't know if the castle's seen anything that bright ever." Her tone was teasing, hoping to bring just a little bit of light to her friend.

Colin wouldn't have minded Cordy's admiration of his physical form; he knew that his body was a beautiful work of art and worthy of admiration, regardless of the relationship between himself and the viewer. He was well used to having an approving eye wandering across the lines and planes; even the scars that marred his flesh were to be admired - badges of survival and success.

Tribble reached a paw out to the familiar face, yawning a bit to show she cared - but not too much.

"Uh..." Came the intelligent reply from the bedroom; he didn't know what to say, he was just kind of standing in his room in boxer briefs and contemplating pants. "Bright. Okay." Well, he could do bright. Another - clean - pair of yoga pants, this one in Rainbow Lisa Frank leopard spots was put on. To top the whole thing off, a grey shirt with black script that read "********". Dressed, Colin came back out and gave Cordy and Eta a wan smile.

"I could bring a lava lamp, if you wanted to leave bright at the castle."

"Charming," she nodded to the shirt before glancing down to his new choice of pants, "and perfect." Both words were good enough to describe Colin on basically any other day, they were certainly good enough now.

As Cordelia leaned over, brushing a chaste kiss to Colin's cheek, Eta carefully crossed from her shoulder to his. The silver tabby lightly butted her head against Colin's temple in greeting, purring softly in an attempt to be a comfort to the man her senshi fondly called 'Sunshine'. The clouds seemed to be overshadowing him today. She hadn't heard much of the conversation over the phone, and Cordelia had said little while packing the picnic basket for space. She didn't need to know anything to know that he could use a friend, though, furry or otherwise.

"Help me figure out whether or not the lights are magical or hydroelectric and I might take you up on that lava lamp. I'd prefer glitter, though, honestly." Cordelia took the basket in one hand, slipping her other into Colin's so that Eta could take the three of them up to Corvus for the day.

For a moment, Colin thought about going back and changing shirts - putting something slightly less vulgar on - but then his brain parsed that Cordy's tone had held no judgement in it on his choice in attire. He cared enough about his friend to not want to offend, even when the underlying feeling toward most things was one of "******** it", but it was a good thing that he didn't have to.

Besides, the cursive script meant the shirt's vulgarity was classy, right?

Right.

He accepted the kiss - and the cat - with subdued but genuine affection returned; these were important people, after all. Cordy because she was Cordy and had proven herself a good and true friend, much like Van, and Eta because she was with Cordy and also by her own sweet merits. Colin's smile grew slightly firmer in place with the affection and physical contact, and he lifted one hand to gently rub Eta's chin and cheek with neatly manicured fingers.

"Deal and done. Tribble, be a good girl today." She had plenty of food and water, she would be fine without him for the day, no worries. He even had an automatic feeder for her with dry kibble just in case something happened and he had to stay out overnight for some reason. He wasn't worried about his feline friend.

Colin didn't know what to expect, traveling by Mauvian, but he trusted Cordy and he trusted the Guardian Cats implicitly, so he gave Cordy's hand a squeeze and took a steadying breath and just let himself be moved.

The trip to Corvus via Mauvian was every bit as smooth as it might have been had the Senshi of Vengeance carried them there herself. Eta had been practicing as the rules of time and space permitted, determined to take what advantage she could of the talisman she and Corvus had fashioned together. Finding that moment of zen that allowed for the transportation soothed a part of her soul in a way that Corvus had once tried to explain; a way that had not made sense until she'd achieved it herself.

When they settled in the courtyard of the castle she butted her head against Colin's gently once more leaping down. While the other two settled she would trot across the garden to inspect what bits of new growth might have cropped up.

Cordelia had taken Colin's hand when Eta had given her the signal that she was ready, powering up to Sailor Corvus in order to transport the two of them along with Eta. While it was nice to give the Mauvian the illusion that she had been able to take the three of them there, it was much more believable to let her think that she'd brought Colin and Corvus had brought herself.

She held on to it still as she adjusted to the feeling of finding herself somewhere else while powering back down. Home. It was beginning to feel more and more like that with each visit; like she could run away and never return, if she only had the means to do so.

She couldn't, of course. There were things that she would miss. There were people that she would miss more. Cordelia could never just run away, no matter how tempting it was.

"We hadn't cleared the debris from the stairs leading up to the ramparts when you were here last... Would you enjoy a glorious view? One more glorious than the two of us charming people standing here together in the garden, at least?" Cordelia would prod him gently for more information later, once they were settled, but she desperately wanted to distract him a little more first.

At first, Colin hadn't understood why Cordelia - and then Corvus - had taken his hand when he had Eta there to transport him, but then he realized that it was likely necessary. Eta couldn't transport him, Cordy had mentioned something about that to him, as well as wanting to help the little guardian Mauvian to feel more confident in herself and her abilities. Thus a bit of a ruse. Of course, how could I have forgotten that?

A small voice in the back of head whispered insidiously that it was because he himself was so easily forgotten, of course.

Colin pushed it aside in favor of enjoying the sensation of travelling through dimensional space and arriving on Corvus. His friend's home planet looked so much neater than it had previously! She really had been doing so much work to clean it up, it was amazing! A pang of something dark and painful stabbed through the blond - here was a planet being given more care and consideration than he had been...it really wasn't fair.

"Thank you, Eta. That was absolutely silk-smooth." Once more a smile fixed onto his face, dull but automatic as he stuffed his upset down deep to bury it. You will not be a killjoy, this is a nice thing. Be gracious. "Corvus is looking amazing, Cordy." His voice was soft and laced with a sort of wistful sadness; sometimes Colin thought about putting more effort into restoring Aegir...but he didn't feel as close a kinship with that planet as he did with Earth, and what little he'd managed to discover about his predecessor had said the same thing.

Sailor Aegir was devoted to his planet, but had a deep and abiding love for the Earth. That's just how they were.

He offered his arm to Cordy in a gentlemanly manner, "I would love to. Let's."

Taking Colin by the hand, she lead him through the courtyard. She hadn't brought him here to show off the progress she'd made, not at all intending to make him feel poorly for what he did (or didn't) do on Aegir. She only wanted to help him escape; to bring him somewhere that the troubles of Earth wouldn't be able to reach him. She wanted him to be safe...

It was an unrealistic hope to keep everyone she cared for safe from harm. She could hardly keep them on Corvus in its current condition, no matter what amount of progress she might have made. There were no sources of sustainable food despite the running water and while she wanted to attempt gardening she had no idea as to whether or not anything would actually grow.

No, the most that Cordelia, that Corvus, could do was offer a brief reprieve in the form of scenery.

Together they picked their path past the rubble that had been too big to carry away. She took the lead up the stairs, testing the sturdiness of each one beneath her own weight before drawing Colin along behind her. The air was fresh and crisp, greeting them as they crested the last stair to the ramparts overlooking the cliff side.

"Here we are.... On top of the world."

As Colin and Aegir, he ran headlong into trouble. It was a speciality of his that wasn't going to change any time soon; the danseur had taken a support magic and turned it into something he could use offensively by sheer force of will. Not many could lay that claim.

Not many would want to.

He followed Cordy with a small but genuine smile, enjoying looking around at Corvus as they wound their way through the courtyard and the rubble, up the stairs, and atop the ramparts. The view truly was spectacular.

For a moment, his breath caught. An empty planet spun away below them. Devoid of higher life, but not barren. Achingly beautiful, but also terribly lonely. "Stunning. The best seat in the house." Cordy's hand recieved two brief squeezes in thanks for the gift and just for being there. Eta wandered, but it was safe - wasn't it? No beasts to prey upon a sweet Mauvian...just this wide, beautiful, lonely planet...waiting.

"I wonder about gardening on Aegir, sometimes...are space vegetables even safe to eat, do you think?" Idle musing, idle whimsy brought on by a moment of levity.

"They might be... For aliens like us, at least." A wry grin graced the corners of her mouth as she tilted her head, casting a glance in her companion's direction. It was something that she'd thought about on her own before; whether or not she would be able to bring plants that could offer a measure of sustainability here on Corvus. How different was the soil here? What would happen if she tried?

"There's only one way to find out, you know. Not that I would recommend eating the first random space vegetable you come across, but maybe if there were a way to cultivate Earth plants here? If I was more scientifically inclined..." One didn't need to know science to purchase things at a hardware store to test the PH of soil or to try. She was putting herself down before even giving it a go and the realization brought a wrinkle to her nose.

"If you're ever of a mind to try and plant a garden on Aegir I'll start some seeds on my balcony at home and bring a trowel. You won't be alone in the effort."

'They might be... For aliens like us...' Corvus meant for the words to be comforting, or teasing. He knew that she did--

--and yet, they struck an unpleasant cord within Colin's breast, the one that Obsidian had plucked so skillfully when courting him for the Negaverse all those years ago. Despite having been born on the Earth, Colin Elias Hargrove was an alien, not actually of the Earth, but dedicated to another planet. To Aegir he belonged, and had apparently belonged for previous lives as well.

He rubbed absently over his chest and forced another smile, trying to focus on the agricultural side of the equation rather than what it meant for him as a person. For her. For all of the senshi.

"I think I might. It would be interesting to see....I know that the soil on Aegir was fertile once, and plants do grow there...not sure if Earth plants would." I should pay more attention to Aegir...it's home, I guess, even if it doesn't really feel like it to me. "Could always take some samples back, get them tested...if you have access to a lab. Or discreet friends."
