Despite their mental detour and a bit of fussing Hartley and Afton finally managed to make it to the address that had been left on the senshi's phone. Hartley had been right and the cafe was relatively busy and the sort of public place you'd want to meet someone if you didn't know what might happen. How they were supposed to talk to a cat like that he wasn't sure. "This is the right address." Hartley checked the peach phone again before tucking it into his pocket. There were a few tables outside and he scanned those before noticing a small ball of cream colored fur sitting on one of the ones tucked back out of the way. It was near the corner of the building and the tables surrounding it were empty. He nudged Afton before heading over in that direction. ------------------------------------------------------------ Sumi wasn't entirely sure if Erato would show up after getting his text message but he thought it was better to try than to leave the senshi on his own. There was a chance he could find him again if he really wanted to but it was easier this way and would be way less stalkerish. He wanted to help the senshi not scare him. As the time drug on though Sumi was starting to think that the senshi wouldn't show. Until he saw someone pause outside the cafe with the same white hair. And he brought the knight.

"Y'know, we're going to look nuts standing, or sitting, around outside talking to a cat, right?" He murmured softly, hovering a bit closer to Hartley than he might have under other circumstances. He had the same odd feeling about all of this as he had about the spyglass that kept randomly reappearing around his apartment, assuming it was because everything was all connected. His attention shifted as Hart nudged him and he spotted the ball of fur that seemed to have caught his friend's eye. His lips pressed together as he rested his hand on Hart's elbow for a moment. "Kinda want something to drink if we're going to chat, but I also don't want to just.... Leave you out here. You don't think anything'll happen if I run in to get drinks?"

"I don't think so. We're in public and I am in theater so I know how to yell." If something did happen he knew how to make a fuss and he knew Afton would come see what was going on. But it was just a cat? And a conversation. Nothing weird would happen. At least, nothing weirder than that already sounded. "Maybe it wont look so weird with both of us since we'll look like we're talking to each other." He managed a slight smile before taking his elbow back. "My usual tea? And I'll, we'll, be out here waiting?"

"Usual tea." He nodded, lips pursed together for a moment as he looked over Hartley as though making sure that everything was perfectly in place before he sent him off to god only knows what. He puffed out the breath he'd been holding to turn and head inside, only glancing over his shoulder once before disappearing beyond the door.

Hartley watched Afton go inside before taking a deep breath and heading over to the table where the cat was sitting. Watching the feline he slid into seat, slight smile on his lips. "....hi." It felt so strange saying hello to a cat fully expecting the cat to say it back. That wasn't how the world was supposed to work. -------------------------------------------------------- Sumi fluffed happily as Erato came over, glad that the senshi and his friend did decide to come and wanted to talk. At least he assumed they wanted to talk, otherwise why would they have come? When Erato sat down he padded across the table top to sit closer to the senshi. "I'm glad you came."

Impatient wasn't something that he tried to be-- not usually when it came to food or food service, at least. He knew how long it took to make most things and he knew that on busy days it could take a little bit longer. It just so happened to be busier than not right now and it left him sorely tempted to tap on the counter while waiting for his order and moments away from glancing over his shoulder towards the door every time it opened. "Everything's fine," he muttered beneath his breath, eyes drifting up to the ceiling before falling back down to the counter. He hadn't even worn his watch out of the apartment so he couldn't eye that or he would have been. Waiting sucked.

Hartley knew the cat could talk, expected him to, yet when the feline spoke he was still surprised. Cats just weren't supposed to talk. How did it even work? They didn't have lips to make all the sounds? Fiddling with his sleeve Hartley smiled anyway and took a deep breath. He'd wanted to come out here. He'd wanted to do this. "I think I am too? Sorry, this is weird ..." ------------------------------------------------------ "I know, i'm sorry." Sumi frowned slightly, nudging Hartley's arm with his head gently. He wanted to be as comforting as he could be but the whole senshi thing was a lot to take in. He couldn't really blame the kid for being confused. "It's a lot but i want to help. I dont want you to feel like you're without help."

He managed not to huff, puff or blow the counter down, taking the carrier with their drinks and the muffin he'd ordered the moment they were set down so he could head back outside. He couldn't believe just how relieved he was to open the door and see Hartley sitting there, perfectly fine and not missing at all. The cat, or whoever might have come along with the cat, hadn't tried to kidnap him. Nothing strange had happened. He was, for now, safe. He set the carrier down on the table after making sure that Hart had seem him approach, not wanting to startle his friend. "Got the tea you wanted, and a muffin. Didn't... Didn't actually know what from a cafe might be safe for a cat so I didn't get you anything."

"I think it's a little more than 'a lot'. It's ... i don't even know what it is." He sighed, trying to keep his voice down so no one looked at them funny. He knew yelling at a cat was likely to get attention he didn't want. Hearing Afton's voice was a blessing though. Looking up he smiled, taking the tea in favor of latching on to his friend. He was still tempted to cling to the other man but that would just get strange attention too. ----------------------------------------------- Sumi looked up when the other man appeared, he wasn't positive but he was pretty sure that had to be the Knight. When he spoke Sumi sighed. Maybe he should have brought Arin along, then someone would have brought him some milk or some water. "It's alright ... I think." Curling his tail around himself he watched the two for a moment before speaking up again. "I'm sure you both have questions. I'm not sure if you'd rather start there or rather I just explain things?"

"Should we be talking about this out here? In comic books and stuff conversations like this are held where no one else can overhear them. I get that there aren't as many people outside as there are inside, but..." His lips pressed together to form a thin line as he glanced around, hoping he didn't look paranoid or crazy and knowing he probably did. "Do you drink tea? Or is it just... Normal cat stuff?" Time to ask the real questions, obviously.

Hartley took a sip of his tea, glad for something familiar, before breaking a bit off the muffin to eat. At least Afton was making life sound like a video game again and that was normal too. It at least sounded more normal than anything else. "There's no one really close.." --------------------------------------------------------------- Sumi smiled and shook his head. "No one will notice I'm talking. They'll just think you two are talking and want some privacy. My Senshi comes out here a lot and he brings me along and we still talk." It was amazing what people would ignore when they knew it couldn't be real. "I like tea and I guess normal cat stuff? If you mean water and milk." Lucien had had that same reaction at first but at least he was treating him more like another person than just a cat.

"Normal cats aren't actually supposed to have real milk. They make this thing at the pet store that you can give them instead-- cat milk, or something?" He shrugged his shoulders, taking a sip of his own tea through the straw. "Alright, well, the two of you can talk, then and I'll keep a look out... But I'm warning you, the first second I think he's in any sort of trouble conversation's over and we're either heading somewhere else or we're out of here."

"I don't even know what to ask? I'm not even sure what happened." Hartley set his tea down but kept his hands around it, looking between Afton and the feline. "One minute we were making dinner plans and then some monster attacked us and then ... poof." He wasn't sure that was the right way to explain what transforming had felt like but it worked. ----------------------------------------------------------------- "I promise neither of you are in danger. The Negaverse isnt' usually stupid enough to attack in broad daylight." They had a few times but that was usually at some big event. Not just at the coffee shop on the corner. Eta probably would have been better at explaining but he was responsible for the Senshi. It was his job. "You turned into your Senshi form. The name I called you, Erato, it's a moon and a long time ago you were the guardian of the planet. There's hundreds more like you and you're all here to help keep the forces of Chaos from destroying this planet like they did everywhere else." Sumi spoke quietly but honestly. "Those monsters like the one that attacked you are things you should help take care of. Not alone though! Knights like your friend or other Senshi will help. I can introduce you to others who help you learn."

For a moment Afton was fine doing just as he'd said he would be doing. He sat quietly, listening to Sumi's explaination of things without so much as making a peep... almost. About halfway through the line about 'guardian of the planet' he coughed. When the small puff of a cat continued on about their being 'hundreds more like you' and brought up 'monsters' and 'chaos' he brought his cup up to his mouth, poking himself with the straw before getting his lips around it to take another sip. When that part of the introduction to the wizarding world wrapped he laughed. "Are you even listening to yourself? Oh my god. Hart, I think I've seen an anime like this before... Is it something that Clamp's put out? Or was it someone else?"

Sumi frowned at the outburst, face scrunching a little as he looked at the knight. Hartley almost managed not to laugh and covered the half snort by taking a sip of his tea. "That was Card Captor and it's different. Kinda." There was still a magical talking animal and super powers but he wasn't really sure it was the same. "Don't people usually say that fiction is based on fact anyway?" ----------------------------------------------------------- "I know it sounds strange but it's true. It's the same for you." Sumi pointed a paw at the knight. "I don't know much about knights, we Mau's didn't have much to do with them, but you were a guardian too." Arin would have been better at explaining that. Why didn't he bring Luc and Arin along? "It's a war no one wants to be fighting but if we don't then the same darkness that destroyed everything before will do it again. You wont have video games to play because you'll get turned into one of those monsters, or worse."
