At the beginning of the trip, throughout the cold of Zena, Koril was abnormally quiet. He was grateful that his travel companion would most likely not notice. Sol seemed to prefer the quiet anyway. As it was, Koril had been too rattled to talk much. The trip to Zena had been... intense. That creature that suddenly appeared and stole away the innocent person to vanish just as easily.. His subdued mood had been affecting Flana as well, the yellow zanteer following close to Koril's heels.

However, as they entered Sauti, Koril felt some life returning to him. The warmer weather soothed his nerves, and being able to finally shed a couple layers of clothing made his step that much lighter. Of course, this made Flana open up as well, venturing off to investigate the strangers accompanying her earthling from time to time.

Sighing when a soft and warm breeze brushed his arms, Koril looked over to Sol with a growing smile as he tucked the last sweater away into his pack while they walked. "I really can't thank you enough for coming all this way. I know we're not done yet, but I wanna say it as much as I can before we end up separating. Are you going back to Zena when we're done?"

Sol wasn't used to traveling anymore. As a child he had grown to love it as much as his father's, maybe even more so. During the dead of night he would sneak out of their cabin with Sev to explore the Zenan wildnerness, but since his eyesight started to fail him Sol...just didn't go out as much anymore. He had remained in Sauti with Makani, studying magic in order to preserve his senses, and being back in Zena after so long had stirred up a lot of emotions inside of Sol that he didn't want to think about.

In truth, he was so wrapped up in his own head that he hadn't bothered questioning why the normally talkative Koril had kept so quiet. Sev stayed close to the three of them, offering herself up as a ride when anyone became too tired to walk on their own. She was on edge after the Dretch, but Sol knew it would just take time for her to calm down, so he didn't bother trying to calm her when she snarled at shadows.

Sol walked with his head high, with his hood still drawn up over his features. He still wasn't comfortable enough to shed it, though he had taken off the majority of furs on his body. Still, a black hood on black skin was making him sweat...

"It's alright, we were going the same way anyway."
He answered with a small, tame smile. His hood hid his eyes, but at least the lower half of his face was visible. "I'm actually studying at an inn not far from here. The man teaching me lives there with his family, and has allowed me to stay for the time being."

It was easier to breathe now, and Koril was happy to hear the other's voice. That hint of a smile was cute to see, and he wondered what all was hidden under that cloak. "I'm glad to hear that. I'd hate to be a nuisance." His brow rose with curiosity and he shifted to walk a little bit closer. "Oh! What're you studying? Is it something with those beads you have?"

Sol simply shook his head. "If you were I would have said something long before now." He wasn't exactly the type to keep that sort of thing hidden away. It was one of the traits he'd inherited from his Baba, as opposed to Papa's ability to easily slip into crowds and make friends with anyone. Sol just...wasn't as adapt at things socially, so the fact that Koril hadn't yet irritated him to the point of walking away was something of a rarity.

Lifting his black beads up to the light, the hybrid twisted them around his fingers and nodded. "I'm a healer in training. I've been told I have the potential, but right now I'm not very good." Which wasn't a complete lie. He had potential; oodles of it, actually, but all of his magical focus was being pulled into keeping up his 'charade'. The more he could use his magic to hide his disability the better....

Koril nodded knowingly, though he didn't quite understand the other's words. After offering to walk with him, surely Sol would not have given up on finding him to be annoying.. right? That wouldn't have been very nice.

Red eyes hooked onto the beads, staring at the with curiosity and awe. "That's super neat! My sister has magic, but she uses the runes. I dunno that she can heal though. I haven't seen her in a while." Hopefully, she was still there for him to see once he returned to Matori. Perking back up, he looked at Sol with a confident grin. "If everyone's saying you have potential, then for sure you'll be really good at it later if you work hard!"

Flana suddenly darted off, yipping at a moracker she had spotted. Koril groaned. "Flana, stop scaring the poor thing!"

"Runes are used as more of an external magic. They could heal, but they wouldn't be as effective." He'd seen mages use runes to erect protective barriers and to send out great torrents of flame, but never to heal. His theory was that they simply couldn't channel it, and so focused on other things. There really was no way to prove it, but most healers he saw either had the more spiritual beads or a clinical book to aid them.

Yeah, okay, maybe the guys optimism was a nuisance. Sol wasn't going to go back on what he said, though, and confuse him. He'd just have to stick by it...for now.

"Are you sure you can make it to Matori on your own?" He asked in a droll tone. All at once a great wind ran by his right side, almost knocking him off his feet and stirring his cloak up around him. Sev had taken off at a mighty pace, galloping after Flana and the moracker. "Sev!" He barked, curling his lip back at the playful raptrix, who clearly could have cared less.

Sol didn't notice that when his cloak settled the hood had pulled back far enough to expose his face, and two blue tipped antennae....

Koril did hear the question, but he was caught up watching the animals. Sev was so majestic as he ran... "Does Sev do much hunting?" he asked, turning to face his companion. He gasped softly at the sight now greeting him. The hood had fallen back, and now he could really see who his companion was. "You're so cute!" he crooned, leaning toward the other hybrid. "You look like you're hot. You should take that hood off~"

Meanwhile, Flana chased the moracker into a crack. Whining, she stuck her paw in there to dig for her prey.

"She used to." These days she was little more than a glorified guide dog who - He couldn't see the details of Koril's expression, but the gasp, coupled with the way the other paused, freaked him out enough for Sol to reach out for his hood....that wasn't in place?! He quickly adjusting his walking stick so that it was in the crook of his arm and pulled the hood back up over his head, carefully tucking his antennae back into the hiding hole he'd created for them.

"The cloak stays on...and you would do well to forget what you saw." A few strange traits were enough to bring attention to Sol, but he didn't need others dissecting him like they had in his youth. Especially not now...

Sev yipped and nudged Flana out of the way so that the crack could be better exposed. Within the second she was using her giant paws like shovels, chucking out big chunks of dirt in an attempt to get closer to the moracker.

"We should get them and keep going. We're behind enough as it is."

Able to clearly see Sol's reaction to the reveal, Koril's brow knit slightly. "But you look all sweaty," he urged, though he still headed for the hunting familiars. "I don't want you to pass out from the heat! Oh, is it because you have sensitive skin? The sun burns it? You shoulda told me so that you wouldn't have had to walk out here. There's nothing but sun! Hey, Flana! Come on!"

Flana wiggled at Sev's side, nose pressed as closely as she could get it without getting whacked by the raptrix's large paws. Looking back briefly, she gave Koril a silly zanteer smile. The angry shriek of the moracker had her attention again though, and she hopped from side to side with anticipation. With no escape out, the moracker attempted to sneak out among the rubble being thrown by the shoveling paws.

"I'm used to it." Sol's tone was almost a snarl, though he tried to keep it back. If he hadn't been traveling so much, and for so long, with a stranger he would have taken the hood down by now, but Koril was no where near close enough to him where Sol felt comfortable doing so.

Did...did Koril ever stop talking? For a moment Sol could only watch as he walked off towards the familiars, that mouth moving far faster than any one man's legs could go. Sensitive skin? No, but his eyes on the other hand...Shaking his head he moved at a slower pace after Koril, though with his longer legs he caught up fairly quickly.

Sev barked at the moracker, completely unfazed by the earthlings coming up behind her, nor did she pay any particular attention to the moracker, who was trying in vain to escape.

"Sev," Sol's monotone voice held a sighing sort of resignation. "Heel." The raptrix obeyed immediately; flopping back on her bum to sit as primp and proper as possible....right on top of the moracker.

With his hands on his hips, Koril gave a huff. "Flana, leave it!"

Flana backed away a little, but kept staring at her target. The irate squeak of the squished moracker made her jump around excitedly, front crouching down with her butt wiggling in the air.

Koril couldn't help a delighted sound when Sev responded so smoothly. "Such a good girl!" he crooned to the raptrix. "Flana, you need to listen better though!" He walked over to pat Flana's rump before he burst out laughing at the struggling critter, though he couldn't help feeling a little guilty for doing so. "Aww! Poor moracker!"

Sev seemed pretty content just sitting ontop of the moracker. If it shifted so did she, making sure to keep her prey hidden as best she could, all the while looking as innocent as she could infront of the earthlings. She gave a happy little yip when Koril complimented, swishing her tail all the harder, possibly even hitting poor Flana in the process.

"Where is it?" Curiosity got the better of Sol. Using his walking stick he moved around Sev, ever aware of the way her eyes turned to watch him. He couldn't make out the shape in detail, but he knew by all the squirming under that fur that the little rodent was stuck. Rolling his eyes to the sky (though the action was lost, thanks to a lack of pupils) Sol shifted his walking stick into the crook of his arm and used both hands to push against Sev. "Come on, get up, let it go." When the raptrix just whined he urged her again, and finally the big pup got up, freeing the moracker.

Flana let out a yelp when she was suddenly swatted. Jumping back with a short yip of surprise, she blinked her eyes rapidly to clear them. Tail patting the ground, she took to trotting around Sev behind Sol, sniffing for her prey again. She gave an excited growl and took off after the fleeing moracker. Before she could get far though, a pair of arms had wrapped around her. She looked back at Koril with a pleading whine.

Koril had taken the opportunity to get close to Flana, forced to jump when she started to take off. He helped as he was dragged along a few feet until Flana realized she was caught. "Flana. Leave it," he said firmly. Still holding her scruff with one hand, he pushed himself back up and dusted at his pants. "Well, that was exciting," he said with a laugh.

It was enough excitement to get Sev rearing to go, but...because Sol had reached out for her, wrapping his arm around her to hold her close, she couldn't. A time or two she bucked against him, but the darker hybrid held strong. "If we didn't need to herd them to this inn I'd say just let them go. I've done it with Sev before, but i'm not sure if Flana would come back." He'd left his raptrix to run for days at a time. At one point he'd almost wanted her to run off, but inevitably she always made her way back to his side. "We're close, though; just around that cliffside, and we'll be there." And hopefully, once they got there, he could finally get some peace.

Koril paused for a moment, looking down at his zanteer. Flana gave him another sad whimper, and he released his hold. He hated Flana looking so sad! "I know you're a good girl. You'd come back to me, right? Wherever we go?" Receiving her silly smile in return, Koril looked back at Sol with a smile. "Yeah. She'd find me." He couldn't help walking over to give Sev's muzzle a light pet. "Besides, if she was with you, she would follow you back easily," he crooned to the large pup. He turned to look at their destination. Around that cliff, huh? "What am I gonna do without you, Sol? I'm so used to you being around now!" he questioned playfully. He knew Sol wasn't exactly pleased with this arrangement of their, but the red-haired boy had enjoyed the quiet blond's company; both silent and otherwise. A little tease would be fun before parting ways.
