For the most part Hartley had ignored the monster attack and whatever had happened to him that night. He and Afton had talked about it a little but so far both hadn't tried to do it again. Hartley wanted to know more but he didn't know how to find the cat who'd helped him. The feline had said they'd check on him but he hadn't run into any cream colored talking cats since that night. Part of him considered that lucky. The other part of him worried that he'd be left on his own and he'd either get in trouble for not doing whatever he was supposed to be doing or he'd end up being attacked by one of those strange monsters again. Shifting on Afton's couch he grabbed a handful of popcorn and leaned back to watch his friend and the game he was playing. "So have you decided who you're going to romance yet?"

"Nah, not yet. I wanted to try and get to know my squad a little bit better first. The blue chick with the tentacles for hair has been coming on pretty hard, though." He snorted softly as he shook his head, finishing the last of the inventory change out that he was working on before heading into the next mission. It was a lot easier to focus on little things like school and video games as opposed to thinking about the odd things that had been happening as of late.... The spyglass that kept appearing in random places around his apartment, for example. He'd thrown it away once only for it to wind up back on the counter. He'd locked it in a box in his closet only to find it in the drawer by his nightstand when he was trying to find the case for his contacts later on the next morning. He'd thought of taking it down to the waterfront and tossing it into the river, but.... The cat came back, it just wouldn't stay away.... His nose wrinkled at the thought as he set the controller down in his lap, rubbing at the bridge of his nose. "Should probably figure out what we want to do for dinner tonight. You are staying for dinner, right?"

"I don't like her that much. She's a little ... boring and predictable." He shifted and stretched out on the couch with a soft groan. "I figured I was staying for dinner unless you kicked me out. I could go rummage through the take out menu's while you do that mission?" Hartley sat up intending to get up when he felt what seemed like his phone vibrating. Except his phone was on the coffee table and had been quiet all day. Frowning he shifted and patted around in his pockets. "What ...." Finding the source of the vibrating Hartley pulled a pale peach cellphone, with a little flower charm, out of his back pocket. "Um, why do I have two phones and why is this one vibrating?"

He paused the game as he glanced up once he heard the concern in Hart's voice, brow furrowing as his friend drew another phone from his pocket. He tried to mentally trace his way back through their last steps before coming into his flat-- Where had they been that someone could have slipped Hart a phone? Especially a phone that looked like that? "Do you remember anyone slipping anything into your pocket? I didn't think anyone got that close to you while we were walking, or when we were on the bus earlier. Don't answer it." Even if the phone didn't look threatening, the whole scenario seemed like something out of a bad movie-- the sort that didn't end well for whoever answered the phone.

"The only one who'd have been close enough to my butt to get anything in it would be you." And he knew Afton wouldn't have done something like that. The phone's main button had a strange symbol on it and it was weird that it seemed to match the colors of the close he'd changed into the night he didn't want to think about anymore. [ Text to Erato: ] Erato! I promised I'd keep in touch! Wanted to check on you. Can you meet me at this address? When Hartley didn't answer the ringing a text message appeared including a cat emoji attached at the end. He turned the phone so Afton could see the screen with a slight raised brow. "That's the name the talking cat called me."

"Even more of a reason to get rid of that thing." His brow furrowed as he set his controller down on the coffee table. The last thing either of them needed was more of the crazy s**t from the other night. The last thing Hart needed was strange text messages from a cat. "Cats don't have fingers. Or thumbs. They can't send text messages." Never mind that in this day in age 'speech to text' was now a thing and a talking cat could talk enough for their words to appear on a screen. "Sounds like a trap."

Hartley frowned, looking down at the screen and the message notification. "Magic phones ... i know this wasn't there before it started vibrating." He'd been sitting on his pockets, he'd have felt it if it was there. His actual phone had been in his pocket until he'd sat down on the couch and taken it out so he didn't crush it or poke himself. "What if it's not a trap? What if the cat can actually explain what the hell that all was?" Not that he really wanted to know but it bothered him not to know. There were just too many questions. He bit his lip as he looked over at Afton, not sure what to do.

"Hart. Hartley. You're not really thinking about going to an address that appeared on a phone you don't own to meet up with a talking cat, are you? You-- you realize how nuts all of this sounds, right?" His brow furrowed into a worried line, lips pressed together. He didn't like it. He didn't like any of it, but if Hart was honestly thinking about chasing after this goose he'd be a rotten friend if he let him go alone. "If you're really thinking about it, I'm not letting you go by yourself."

"No, yes ...I don't know." He looked down at the phone again, letting it blink a few more times before finally swiping the screen to unlock it. Now that he could see the whole message it showed a name, Sumi, and a small cat icon along with the message he'd seen on the preview screen and the address. It wasn't too far away but it still seemed like something out of a bad dream. Strange phones appearing with messages from talking cats. Hearing Afton's words he looked up again. "You'll go with me?" He knew Afton wanted nothing to do with the weirdness but having his friend with him would be better.

Afton was sorely tempted to roll his eyes. He was just as tempted to groan and stomp his feet and throw a fit over the idea of Hartley putting himself in danger to go see a cat about some magical stick. It was incredibly uncharacteristic of him, of course. He was usually the one who had the sense of adventure. He was usually the one who tried to make life more interesting... Yet here he was, about to let a talking cat, of all things, ruin that. "If you think this is something you need to do, yeah. I'm not going to let you just go alone. It's dangerous to go alone, everyone about to embark on a quest knows that." He snorted, glancing back at the television and scooping up the controller just long enough to save the game and shut things down. "As long as I can go on the record saying that I think this is a terrible idea."

"Don't know what I'd do without you." Harley smiled, tempted to hug his friend, but refraining as he stood up. While Afton saved the game he got his actual phone and slipped on his shoes. He didn't really know why he was so tempted to go talk to the cat, it wasn't like him, but at least knowing what was going on would make him feel better. If he knew it was something he wanted no part in he could just forget the whole mess and go back to being a normal collage student.

Once the television was off he slid his shoes on while patting down his pocket to make sure his wallet was there. Hopefully whatever run-in they had with the cat wouldn't take too long and they could grab dinner while they were out... Assuming no one was waiting to mug either of them and take wallets. His nose wrinkled as he shook that thought from his head, reaching over to snag his keys from the small table by the front door. The expression on his face shifted to something just a bit more irritated as his fingers brushed against the spyglass; the spyglass that hadn't been by his keys when he'd set them down earlier. "Fine." He huffed, shoving that into his hoodie pocket as he tugged the door open, ushering Hart out the door. "Lead the way."

Once they were outside Hartley clicked on the address in the text message and a map popped up with directions. It didn't quite look like google maps but just as good and showed easy directions to get to the address the feline had specified. "I don't think we're going to get mugged. This is the address of a coffee shop." Seemed like an odd place for a talking cat to want to meet them but, maybe, the cat wanted him to feel safer? Meeting in a public place was usually the safe way you were told to meet strangers. "I don't even know why I want to go. I shouldn't care about whatever the hell this all is." He murmured as they walked.

"Most coffee shops don't allow cats inside." More proof to go towards the 'it's a trap' side of things, as far as he was concerned. "And how does the cat know you don't have any allergies to anything that might be inside the coffee shop... Or to cats, for that matter." He tucked his keys into his pocket, following after Hartley. He couldn't believe those words had actually come out of his mouth; how paranoid and ridiculous he sounded. "You want to go because you want to know what's going on and getting information is smart. It's better than me trying to figure out on my own why I can't get rid of this stupid antique spyglass that keeps following me around like it's possessed."

"I don't think the cat's inside." Hartley scrunched his nose slightly, shaking his head. "It's a public place though and it should still be pretty busy so harder to mug us in broad daylight with people around?" Once Afton caught up to him he looked over at his friend. Aft was usually the one wanting to go on adventures but after everything that had happened that night he didn't want anything to do with them anymore. Not that Hart could really blame him. "I still dont know how a cat can have answers."
