Kyrieko

Hilarious Werewolf

PostPosted: Tue Sep 05, 2017 9:39 pm

Name: V'lik (formerly Valik)
Age: 47
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: He's too busy for this! (Probably bisexual)
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingleader of Star Flame Wing
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Architect
Physical Description:
On the taller side at almost six feet in height, V'lik is not a little man. He is bulky and thick in a nicely muscled way from his time working in the Smithcraft. His skin is a tanned mocha color from spending so much time in the sun. He tries to keep his hair cropped short but tends to let some scruff around his face grow out. If you can make it past his usual glower, you'll find he has some strikingly icy grey eyes.

Personality:
A sincere hard worker, V'lik does not know how to offer anything less then 110% when he works at a task. He will not waste any part of the day and has been known to train with his dragon, and on occasion his wingmates, well after the sun has set. A day will not be truly accomplished unless something is achieved. While this might make others feel he is a tough individual to impress or be around, it is rather the opposite. V'lik takes great pride in seeing those who ask him for assistance slowly begin to improve on those sweeping dives. Or getting into formation just a half-mark faster than their previous attempt. He's just not very good at voicing this.

V'lik will be quite strict on himself and any others that he will be forced to rely upon. This could be fellow wingmates or weyrfolk. He expects a lot out of his fellow riders and will try to push them to their limits, encouraging them to rise up beyond even that. He believes that if he is able to push himself further, then anyone can do it too, if they set their mind to it. Quitting is not an option. Thread will not wait for anyone. If they are to succeed, then they must be ready for anything. Doing less will only result in the loss of even more lives and riders.

While his expectations may seem impossible and his ways harsh, V'lik is a good man at heart. He truly cares about those he and his dragon must protect, knowing that they are not fully prepared to combat Thread like dragonriders once were. They allowed themselves to become lazy. Did not school themselves in maintaining drills meant to keep all of Pern safe. This has become a passionate drive for why he will not let himself or his dragon ever be considered lazy or unprepared. Now, he just has to convince the rest of the weyr to feel the same.

Positive Trait List Hard Working, Passionate, Driven
Negative Trait List Strict, High Expectations, Tough Love

History:
Valik was the second born son to fairly prominent architect of Monaco Bay Hold. His father was a driven man that made sure his designs were followed to a "T" when structures were built. He designed them they way they were for a reason, and to deviate from this lead to the possibility of a faulty structure. And that was just not something Volarik would have. Said to be a strict and gruff man, Volarik ran his household much the same way he did his craft. So, it was no surprise that as soon as Valik was old enough to walk, his father handed him a hammer and told his son to familiarize himself with its weight and put little Valik to work.

While his father seemed tough, Valik never once felt unloved. His father taught him to be a sturdy individual that could accomplish greater things if he put his mind to it and pushed himself. Valik worked hard each day, delighted in the small accomplishments he would make. By the time he was 10 turns, he was already much bigger than other boys his age. And much thicker skinned. His days fell into a routine of getting up before the sun rose, working under his father, setting himself a goal for the day he had to achieve or a task he had to improve at by the setting sun, then reviewing what he'd learned from the day and what he would do the next day before bed. Only to repeat the next day.

However, there was one particular thing that Valik began to enjoy that had nothing to do with his growing skill in the smithcraft. It was by chance, one evening, he'd wound up talking to the Hold's watchrider. The old man and his dragon were more than happy to tell tales of what dragonmen were like and how they had fought Thread so many turns ago. Valik was fascinated by the harper tales he was told. And even more so by the dragon of the rider. And when his 15th turn came about, the old man took Valik to the Weyr where everything changed.

A Hatching was to be held. Something that did not happen at Monaco very often (if at all). And Valik himself was chosen to be a candidate that would Stand when the time came. His father was both pleased and irritated that his son was chosen. Pleased as it would bring his family more prestige. Irritated as it meant he could lose one of his best workers. Valik was torn, wanting to continue to work hard for his father and secretly wanting very much to be a rider, like those the old man always spoke about. In the end, he threw himself into learning everything he could about dragons in the short period of time he had before the eggs were hard enough on the Sands. Never having been a slacker, and he did quite well in all his lessons, even with such a small period of time.

When the day of the Hatching finally came, Valik stood with all the other boys and watched as Candidate after Candidate Impressed. He began to doubt himself a little, fear trickling in that he would not find a dragon for him that day. That is until one particular blue burst out of his shell. His eyes were whirling a dangerous red and he made sure to crunch the egg shell under his feet a little more. With a huff and a bellow for good measure. And then he proceeded to waltz up to the boys, knocking a few off their feet until he butted his head against Valik.

Valikmine come now. My belly growls and your Raith does not like it!

Thus, Raith Impressed to Valik, who took the honorific of V'lik. And the young weyrling quickly learned that not only was Raith the most amazing dragon ever...he was also the most cranky sharding beast in all of Pern as well. The two would butt heads and argue, with the ending result being one or the other chuckling. They worked well together, Raith's competitive nature mixing nicely with V'lik's hard working and goal oriented one. The two loved challenging themselves and other weyrlings, which evolved into challenging fellow rider's when they were finally out of weyrling hood. Raith truly was everything V'lik had ever expected and more.

As soon as they graduated from Weyrlinghood, the pair transferred to Western Weyr, where the old man watchrider had originated from. He'd always told V'lik how nice the non-traditional weyr was. And for V'lik, it was the perfect place for him and Raith to accomplish more than they could anywhere else. He wanted them to be as skilled as they possibly could be without anyone holding Raith back due to the color of his hide. Something that worked nicely for Raith himself. He dearly enjoyed challenging his bronze brothers to help him become a stronger blue.

The return of Threadfall was nothing but disasterous. Not only was it a shock to all of Pern, but it was a massive eye opener for V'lik. He realized, while tending to the threadscores Raith had received, just how unprepared they all had been. These were most definitely not the rider's he'd dreamed of being. And worse yet, even for all the hard work he and his dragon did, it had still not been enough. That was a blow that almost incapaticated the man. But Raith wasn't ready to throw in the towel and how dare his rider let his emotions get the better of him! They had work to do. And a lot of it.

Now, the pair is working double time to perfect their flying abilities and maneuverability. They are testing themselves to find their strengths and weaknesses, to use one to their advantage and find ways around the latter. V'lik has become quite vocal about encouraging his fellow dragonmen to challenge themselves and work harder. They had to be prepared for the next Fall. There was no failing this time.

Other:
- Secretly enjoys reading or listening to Harper tales of the past and how dragonmen once were.
- Enjoys drafting/sketching designs to ship off to his father in the rare moments of rest days he allows himself.

DRAGON
Name: Raith
Age: 32
Color: Blue
Size: 30'-ish
Physical Description:
On the darker side of blues, he's not quite 'large' but certainly on the above average in size range. His body is fairly lean and nicely muscled. His wings are larger than average but not starkly so. As if to compensate for the larger wingspan, his tail is longer than the usual for a blue as well. He is lithe and his movements seem similar to that of a feline when he walks or flies. In the air, he is very graceful and almost acrobatic. Threadscores can be seen scattered along his body from when First Fall occurred. They serve as a reminder for their failure to prepare for Thread.

Personality:
While he might appear to be a lazy creature at first glance, Raith is quite the practical dragon. He doesn't jump right up and tackle a task with one hundred percent momentum. He would rather determine why they must fly from point A to point B when he already knows how to do this and memorized the points the first time they did this jump. Or perhaps it's something he does not quite understand how to accomplish. Raith will take the time to keep at it until he's figured it out and solved the puzzle. A trait that tends to clash with his rider's determination to push forth with 110% effort. Raith will be agreeable...after he's analyzed the possible effects on their abilities first. This particular trait of analyzing first and acting second has become something that V'lik relies upon to reign in some of his tendencies to set forth goals that might be too difficult to completely accomplish.

Probably a knock off trait from his obnoxious will power, Raith has a tendency to be quite competitive. He is not a fan of losing and will work hard to come out on top. Though he doesn't consider anything a 'game', Raith just doesn't like to appear weak. At least weak for a blue or maybe a brown. Which happen to be his favorite dragons to challenge and try to 'one up' (he really does enjoy being around his larger dragon brothers). This can also be seen when flying with other dragons. He'll try to appear faster and more agile then them, maybe showing off his abilities if feeling really feisty. V'lik constantly has to reign in this behavior, reminding his bonded that they are to work together with their wingmates, not show off to them.

Really, he was just not one of those happy hatchlings to come bumbling out of his shell. More like the annoyed hatchling stuck in his egg and finally losing his temper to explode out of said shell. Raith gets annoyed easily. Anything that causes him distress and or he can't solve, and he'll get pissy to the point he might break a cot with his tail or shove another dragon out of his way so he can go brood somewhere he's more comfortable. During these times, Raith leans heavily on his rider to help reign in his irritation and aggression. Lately, as he's grown more accustom to wingmates, he'll lean on them for the added support and calming air of companionship. Unless they were the ones that annoyed him. Then they'd best fly fast or there might be some teeth marks left in their tails.

Approved!

He's not a Wingleader yet but will be soon. Right now he's a Wingrider in Star Flame Wing but that will change when I get everything resorted!
