HEY GUYS! We've been talking on and off about doing an NYC hangout sometime, so I thought, why not plan one for January? That way we could do a post-holidays present swap, and also capitalize on the post-holidays travel lull. I'm putting this thread together to get a feel for who would like to join, what we'd like to do, and other such considerations, so we can maybe finalize a fun plan! To help me out w/this, you can fill out the form below and post it in this thread or PM it to me!

(NOTE: since this is an IRL meetup with internet strangers, 18+ y/os only please!)

/EXCITED SHRIEKING
* Please put me down as yes/maybe. I need to discuss this with my folks as the date gets closer.

NYC PARTY!!

dates that work for you: Any weekend! (Also my 25th birthday is January 19th and that's a Friday next year BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I'M SAYING IT SHOULD BE AROUND THEN... )
food allergies: Shrimp makes me feel faint and have intense stomach cramps. e ne;
I ALSO DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL and should avoid soda as much as possible because I'm trying to cut it from my diet.
activity suggestions:

Any of the Museums?
Nintendo NY?
A chocolate bar? (Or a popular bakery or something sweet based idk food is always a thing I'm 100% with)
(My inner child keeps screaming Toys R Us but please don't take that seriously...)

EDIT: UH, I may not do well in an escape room. 8V;;; If they're anything like a haunted house, you may have to deal with me shaking for an hour afterward. That and I'm a giant baby with horror in general

for out of towners
(I'm filling this out because I'm from Eastern LI and I'm about an hour and a half away from NYC by car/train)

lodging: It's likely that I could help split on a hotel/air bnb, but I wouldn't be able to put anyone up. I live too far from the city for it to be convenient. (Also, fair warning, but I toss and turn and tend to make noises that I can't help while out cold. I'm also a REALLY slow person in the morning without tea...)

transportation: Most likely going to be taking the train! (LIRR from Ronkonkoma Station to NY Penn; If someone wouldn't mind volunteering to meet me somewhere there that would ease me nerves. However, I'm sure I could get my bearings on my own if need be!)

*Just so people know, I get sensory overload in the city really easily and may get nervous/need to chill for a minute. I promise I will do my best to keep up and pay attention, though!

food allergies: NONE!
activity suggestions: I'd love to go back to the Met ;A;
(also idk if anyone else is into jfashion but there's BtSSB/Tokyo Rebel up there as well!)
i am also okay with just constant eating

for out of towners

lodging: heck yeah! i think i make a tolerable roommate lmao
transportation: i'll probably take the plane or train up to NY, but wouldn't mind sharing a ride to the city if i show up at the same time as someone else!

dates that work for you: any time for me too! if it's during the week i'll need notice to take off from work, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen (?)
food allergies: i don't drink the alkihols, but i am happy to watch others do so while i sip on a flask of kool aid :B
activity suggestions: i'm cool with escape rooms or wandering or museums or sitting and staring at each other

for out of towners

lodging: it is not a good idea for anyone to stay in my apt for many reasons, but i would be happy to save up some hotel muns to chip in so you guys don't go completely broke

that banner is the cutest thing ;;

NYC PARTY!!

I haven't been hanging around here for very long so I feel a little awkward, but since I'm putting up Kota and also in the city I should probably just ignore my nerves and do it.

dates that work for you: January is great for me, since I'll be on break from school. Weekends are great for me because I definitely won't be working then.
food allergies: No dietary restrictions or concerns. I don't like to drink very much and would feel uncomfortable in a situation where I felt pressured to do so, but I really doubt that would happen.
activity suggestions: I like eating and escape rooms and basically everything that has been suggested already. I think a science-themed room would be really fun because it is Lab. I also like museums, but I'm not sure I could do it in a large group because I like to read everything. I would suggest not immediately doing an escape room so we have time to introduce ourselves, but it could also be fun to just embrace the chaos. I also recommend planning the outing to include places where we can sit periodically. I for one get clumsier the more tired I am, and that's hard when walking with a group. I think a lot of us awkward people would get tired more quickly if we never have chill time.

NYC PARTY!!

dates that work for you: Preferably not the last weekend of the month since that's when the spring semester starts (wtf CUNY why would you start classes on a Saturday?!) but anything else is good!
food allergies: I am the pickiest eater and an even pickier drinker (water or bust), but don't have any notable allergies and am fine with whatever people decide, since I can find viable options on many menus and am A-OK watching people eat food I dislike.
activity suggestions: the grisly murder of kotaline jones
In all seriousness, I think the current suggestions are pretty great (escape room yesssss) and would be down with helping organize logistics and building an agenda that includes some quieter interludes and activities and food. Lots of food. (Look what I found~)

for out of towners

lodging: Due to my living situation, I'm not able to offer crash space. Sorry! ^^;
transportation: I'd be glad to meet people at the airport/Penn Station/Port Authority/wherever if necessary!

NYC PARTY!!

dates that work for you: Weekends would be the coolest I think?? I get PTO so I can take any day off but I feel like weekends are best for planning fun stuff.
food allergies: none and I wanna try everything
activity suggestions: BAR..... maybe like later in the evening so people who don't wanna go or can't will have had a day of fun with all of us together and then when it's all like "ahhh time for bed" the bar people can be like no... time for BAR

other than that... the other suggestions look good.... I don't go into big cities much so I'm down for whatever's clever

for out of towners

lodging: I'd share a hotel with deri if we're both able to make it!
transportation: deri and I will either take trains or rock a taxi or SOMETHING we will... figure it out...

dates that work for you: anytime in early january works for me! my pto refills at the beginning of the year so i have TIME AT MY FINGERTIPS...
food allergies: i'm lactose sensitive but sometimes i like to suffer so it's a moot point
activity suggestions: i am a simple hick girl who gets excited riding public transportation so i am Down For Whatever. as long as there's food and then maybe at least one bar night??? evening-time like logue said so totally optional event after we've all hung out and had fun!

for out of towners

lodging: logue i will split a hotel room or smthg!!
transportation: Someone Else Driving In Some Fashion i'm not renting a car bc i don't wanna die

NYC PARTY!!

dates that work for you: Anytime in Jan! I just need to know months in advance so I can get cheaper plane tickets!
food allergies: None, BUT, I have a heat allergy, meaning if I get too hot I pass out. ; n ;
activity suggestions: I'm down for anything! I'm disabled (I have mobility issues and use a cane) so I might need to pause here but pls feel free to go ahead of me and just let me know where you're going so I can catch up when ready!

for out of towners

lodging: I am def fine with sharing a hotel room or whatever! My fiancee will be coming as I need assistance and he helps me get around, but we share a bed so that shouldn't be an issue if I share a room with someone!
transportation: We'll be flying down. It'd be nice if someone could meet us at the airport? If not that's totally fine!

ALSO NOTE; This is a very high maybe! I am def planning to go but I need to double check funds depending on how late we plan! If it's too close to Jan before we settle on decision I might not be able to do the trip!

NYC PARTY!!

Chalk me up as a maybe for now!!

dates that work for you: Anytime in January works for me. But, the sooner we decide the dates the better. I need to be able to coordinate PTO and buy plane tickets/hotel accommodations.
food allergies: I see food.... and I eat it. None specifically, but I am not a fan of seafood.
activity suggestions: I have not been to New York in yeeeeeears. Take me to do all the things! A bar night would be pretty rad, too.

for out of towners

lodging: I might bring my BF, if finances work out for him. We tend to stay in Hampton's because he gets points. So, that is the only lodging I know how to find readily, lol! If I am able to go, I would likely make the visit into a week long trip. I would love to bunk with someone else, but I understand that staying longer might make it difficult to coordinate.

If anyone has suggestions on places to stay near the meetup location, or near a lot of tourist spots. PLEASE GIVE THEM TO ME.
transportation: I am going to try my hand at Uber/Lift? If you have any other recommendations, let me hear them!
