The Rules Anyone can enter who doesn't already have a white! This contest is White Dragon Newbie only! If you've won a white dragon already we ask you not enter! This white must be part of Western or High Reaches Weyr! It is not an unaffiliated dragon! Please make the parody Echoes of Pern related. So keep in mind our canon and our setting. You can do general Pern but just remember the shop rules we have in place. You may base Parodies off shop events, RPs, and characters. You may also base the Parodies off shop history, and the general shop setting. We're looking for parodies that are creative and interesting. Fair warning, we'll likely be drawn to stronger entries that replace more words and verses than a song that is primarily the original song with just one or two Pern words thrown in. You may enter only once so pick your best song! Please don't proxy for someone as we're basing this on your own work. Please make sure you fill out the entire form! Why did you choose this song to parody? It just came to my head. World and Weyr sounded the same, the rest came kinda easy. What inspired the parody, if anything? Listening to the song, it kind of makes me think of a Golden Queen, a weyrwoman of a weyr around the time that thread returns. Not thinking it will return and now that it has, she has been stripped of her former rank. Doesn't make complete sense when I try to share it out loud but feel like it kinda works here.

Why did you choose this song to parody? I really liked how he could condense an idea down to just a few words in the verses and wanted to see if I could do the same with Pern themes What inspired the parody, if anything? I started writing this years ago based on the idea of a girl impressing the dragon who killed her friend. The song inspired part of Roknhin's story, which then motivated me to finish the song! (So longer story: I actually picked the song first and started trying to write a cute happy impression song. I got as far as the 'hot sand on my toes' line before the rest of that verse just kind of wrote itself. That's when I used the idea of the two girls xP)

Why did you choose this song to parody? So I personally love this song. Whenever I'm feeling down, or aching, or trying to fight past something that would normally knock me flat, this is one of those. I can listen to this, remember that there's more to me than just the things that plague me. I figured a personal connection might help me get this working. What inspired the parody, if anything? AHA So as is evident in a few RP's, since Uridith's flight...E'ion's been pining after Roknhin. He knows how much self-doubt Rok has to him since he aged out, and E'ion...well. Why did you choose this song to parody? Storytime! About six years ago Dizzy and I decided it would be fun to parody songs and so we did, privately in aim. We eventually started posting them. This was a song I'd done before (and quite awfully) with different lyrics. I like this version better and it was stuck in my head so I sent it to Berri about fifteen minutes ago. xD I was convinced to post it. So as always, Blame Berri. Why did you choose this song to parody? It's September and I'm a NBC freak |D I've been listening to the whole soundtrack in my car for a couple of weeks now. Why did you choose this song to parody? Originally, I was looking to write a joyful Impression, looked up another song of MJB’s because I remembered liking that song back when it was released and wanted to see if it would work. Out of curiosity, I read lyrics from the rest of the album, and found a song I hadn’t heard before that triggered that little tickly urge to grab and run with it. What inspired the parody, if anything? Turns out it’s the exact opposite of my initial intent – A jaded Candidate who has been passed by one too many times and is just DONE.
