By the time he had been woven, Florizel knew that family would always be the most important thing to him. He wanted to help them in any way he could, be there when they needed him to be and protect them if they felt weak. His mother, Illuminata, got this affection in full force and it was she that was the one he worked to help the most. He had chosen his profession of a trader to support hers and she, in turn, had supported his. Sometimes she would bring him raw materials, like the scales she would find on the ground and he would help discern which shone brighter than others, or in his lingo, which would fetch a finer price. In turn, he would tell her whenever new products from far away Tribes would come in, like Floofalo wool that came directly from the Ice Tribe or onyx that came from the volcanoes of the Fire Tribe.
He also set up trades with his other family members, like Lucent his brother, who was apart of the Ruby District as a blacksmith. If Lucent chose to trade away what he made, rather than sell it, he could do so through Florizel.
His other siblings were welcome to join in and he had been seeing Inlustris around enough to wonder if his younger brother was interested in trade, but the shy Tah had never formally approached him about the topic and Florizel wasn't about to force him. Besides, you needed a certain boldness to be a successful merchant.
At any rate, Florizel knew that he was in the right District and career and he was happy to help his family as well as any others that might approach him to talk business. At the current moment, he was sorting through and cataloging a recent batch of shed scales that had been directed his way. For the time being, they were just scales, but depending on who came his way that day, who knew what they would end up as? Florizel would certainly be interested in hearing of it.WC: 348

It had been quiet a time navigating the strange layout of the light tribe, for a certain b'alam that had been looking for a friend...
"Bood 'ell." left the hooked pawed wind b'alam as he entered a more familiar setting, one that looked to have stalls and places of trade.
"It's about time something starts to look normal." Hook spoke as he made a glace to the bolf that loped beside him. "Mr. Smee, the lad should be some wheres about. Why don't you take ponder, and look for the timid lad." The wind balam spoke releasing a tired breath.
With a nod, the red and brown balam made a soft bark. Raising his Hook, Jolly gave the Bolfa helped step and a launch to his flight. In a hop and a flap the bolf took to the air. Scouting for a familiar teal haired and golden pelt b'alam
Pausing in his hobbled step, Hook raised his eyes to the canopy that created the large crystal 'ceiling' above him. The shine and glint of the crystals where a sight to see, one he had been familiar with in the dark tribe-but it was something else to see the gems shinning with life from the source of their tree-how the light of the sun made them dance to life. Pulling his eyes from the branches above, Hook let his attention search the stalls wondering if one might be Desperoux's. With a saunter the Hooked merchant started to purpose a few of the nearby shops, His bright blue gaze looking for anything that might catch his curious gaze in the mean time.

Scales were never just scales. That was something that his mother had taught him when he was young and at one point thinking of becoming an artist himself. They each had a different weight, texture and color. She looked at them with an artist's eye, but Florizel had always seen them as something of a different value. If a shiny scale was more sightly than a dull one, maybe someone else would want that scale in exchange for something else. The dull one could be melted down with the blacksmiths to be used too, and if they had a use, there was a chance they could be bartered away for something that Florizel could use too.
It was his mindset such as this that had led him to becoming a trader with a keen eye for good product. Similarly, he was able to pick the b'alam that would come by his stall who were more likely to be interested in such a product. This skill had him pulling in quite a few individuals and it was such a skill that came in handy that very day.
He had been looking up from his task and checking the surroundings outside, when he saw a Wind Tribe b'alam approaching. He blinked at the other and then smiled, before such a smile faltered at the sight of his hooked paw. He felt sick thinking about the pain of the wound that must have been and wanted to recommend the other to a healer, though for certain the wound must not ache as terribly when it was new.
Shaking his pelt, he tried to put the matter of the hook from his mind as he approached the front of his stall and called out to the tan stranger. "Greetings, winged Tah! I don't see many Wind Tribe b'alam around my stall often. What's a fellow like you doing in our market district this fine day?" He inquired with a smile and light in his gaze.WC: 331 [ Radical Dreamer ] Gadzooks this took a long time to reply to! If you're still interested in the RP, I am!
