Name: P'fax
Age: 37
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Hetero-flexible
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: N/A
Physical Description:
A small man by anyone's reckoning, P'fax stands around 5'7" on a "tall" day with his boots on. He's built slim and fine-boned, lean and hard, with strong hands and broad strong shoulders. He carries himself straight and proud, and dresses simply but neatly when not in uniform.
He's a reasonably handsome fellow, though he really doesn't think so and frankly doesn't care. His face is sort of heart-shaped with a fairly strong chin and jawline, a strong straight nose and a mouth that has a natural tendency toward pouting (and dimples when he smiles XD). Lightly tanned, he's beginning to hold a few lines on his face, mostly at the corners of his eyes, which are a pale amber in color, piercing, narrowish and hooded.
Once a warm dark cinnamon-brown, P'fax's hair has gone prematurely silver-grey, very nearly pure white. Thick, stick-straight and shaggy, it hangs to just past his shoulders; he usually keeps it braided back out of the way, with the bits that won't stay in the braid hanging in his face.
Personality:
P'fax is a force of nature, competitive and driven and completely fearless. Once he is presented with something he wants to achieve, he goes after it with tenacious ferocity, even if he has absolutely no chance of victory. To P'fax, it's not a matter of winning or losing. It's all about the battle.
Being a dragonrider is all he has ever wanted to be, and he is arrogant enough to know he's damn good at it. He attacks drills and training with the same ferocity as he attacks everything else; he's quick to learn new flight patterns and tactics -- the more complicated, the better! -- and easily adapts to changes made on-the-wing. A daring, fearless rider, he pushes himself and his dragon to the limits of their physical ability, and then pushes more, just to test himself. If there were such a sport as Extreme Dragonriding, he'd be all over it.
Quicksilver is what he and Craith are like in the air, and quicksilver is the best way to describe P'fax's temperament. Volatile and unpredictable, he can be laughing and joking one moment and a rabid tunnelsnake the next. (You can safely bet that being called "old man" will bring out that inner tunnelsnake.) Of course, as a dragonrider, he would never dream of engaging in physical confrontation. It just isn't done.
P'fax is a true-blue, loyal friend who doesn't care if you're young or old, hold- or weyr-bred, male or female, Candidate or queenrider. And if he counts you as a friend, he will defend you as ferociously as the aforementioned tunnelsnake. He just has a direct brain-to-mouth connection and no leash on his tongue, and will speak his mind even if it hurts. And opinions? He's got them! Outspoken and blunt, he's quite happy to offer his two-marks' worth, usually without mincing words, regardless of whether his thoughts were asked for or not.
Despite his grumpy disposition, P'fax is something of a closet romantic and history buff. He loves to listen to the harpers sing about gallant deeds of days gone by and enjoys fantasizing about what life must have been like back then. He's not a naive idealist -- he's fully aware of the dangers of fighting Thread and doesn't romanticize that in his mind at all -- but the songs and stories still resonate with him, as they have since he was a child. You'll have a friend for life if you share his passion for the old tales and are willing to discuss them with him over a mug of klah. He's not much of a romantic in the other sense of the word, though, and needs to be essentially clubbed over the head by anyone interested in him before he gets the hint.
Positive Trait List quick-witted, steadfast, fearless, tenacious, romantic
Negative Trait List mercurial, arrogant, perfectionist, outspoken, grumpy
History:
P'fax (born Parzefax) was a Benden weyrbrat born and bred. Captivated from an early age by the songs and legends the Weyr harpers told, Parzefax knew he was going to be a dragonrider, and started standing for clutches as soon as he was old enough. After the third time on the sands without result, though, he was beginning to feel as though he would never Impress. This simply would not do! Driven by his own expectations, he persevered, and finally Impressed at age 24, just two Turns before ageing out.
It was everything he imagined it would be, and then some.
As a Weyrling, P'fax set an even higher goal for himself: live up to the legacy of the great Benden dragonriders of old. (It didn't matter to him that most of those legendary riders rode the larger bronzes and browns and golds -- he knew his little green dragon was every bit their equal!) He worked and studied hard and excelled at his training; he and Craith especially shone in the simulated Threadfall drills, and proved themselves an agile, daring pair in the air.
P'fax's first wing assignment was his last assignment at Benden. Defying the Wingleader, he broke formation during a simulated Threadfall in front of a group of tourists. He and the Wingleader ended up getting in a heated argument about tactics, and P'fax decided that, despite the storied history of Benden Weyr, he needed a place more likely to welcome individual thinking. So in 3565 he transferred to Western Weyr. He's relentlessly loyal to his new Weyr and his fellow wingriders, and is proud to be part of what he feels is the Best Wing That Ever Flew In The History Of Pern.

DRAGON
Name: Craith
Age: 13, hatched at Benden Weyr from Temoth x Kandith's clutch on 3560.05.05
Color: Green
Size: 20 feet / about 6 meters
Physical Description: Craith is a fairly small, compact, dainty dragon. She has a noble profile with a slight Roman nose, and a regal bearing despite being relatively young. Her hide is a pretty dark sage-y green, and she insists that it is kept immaculate, thoroughly and frequently bathed and oiled by her beloved rider.
Personality:
Craith is a lady, somehow unconsciously refined and elegant, in possession of that certain attribute that makes her somehow naturally so. It's in the way she moves, the way she talks, and the way she acts. Everything is approached with a certain poise, and she's always thoughtful of her manners and the company she holds. Like any lady, Craith loves to be clean, and baths will become a favorite pastime. P'fax can expect to be looking for scented oils and soft scrub brushes for her hide. She loves to look good, and she’ll want him to dye her straps and find the very best Weaver to embroider it. Beware, her fashion sense doesn’t stop at her own attire! She expects them both to look good, and will try and get P'fax to dress in shades that complement her hide and straps. They will look fabulous and lovely together!
But Craith is no wilting flower. While she has all of the class and personality a lady could ever want, this green is interested in things beyond simple pleasantries and idle girly chitchat. Craith is highly intelligent, and she uses that intelligence to her own advantage, picking up not only what Hers knows, but also all those things that she observes around her. She delights in knowledge, and in words - in fact, she will push P'fax towards research and learning as forcefully as she can. She will tell him over and over what a perpetual frustration it is that she herself cannot read, and will attempt to learn, but her draconic memory simply will not allow it.
Craith nonetheless has the brains to succeed in a great many of her endeavors. She's inventive, not to mention daring, enough to try almost anything once, and really does quite well in keeping up with her rider. When it comes to flying, Craith really stands out. Her delicate form and ladylike qualities are huge assets once she's off the ground. This green will rule the air currents around Western Weyr and anywhere she travels. The basics of flying pose little challenge at all. Given a little practice, even complex maneuvers will give her no trouble as she starts to demonstrate her unique gift in this field, the ability to turn on a wingtip making her turns much tighter than many other dragons.
