Life Hunter BATTLE ARENA General Information The portal opens up into an observation room, and down the stairs, an odd chamber for something like hunter training. At the center of a piranha-filled pool stands a solid stone table and several chairs. The Life Arena was built underneath the demolitions and ballistics testing areas, and the chamber rumbles with the occasional explosions above. Pinpoint red lasers sweep across the room regularly, as if hidden snipers are searching for a nice target. In the center of the table sits a wooden tower, made up of smaller wooden blocks. Yes. That's right. The Life Hunters prefer to train via Jenga.
Note: Distraction techniques and Yo Momma jokes are considered viable weapons when playing competitively.
If you fail: you have knocked down the tower! A small dart hits the back of your neck. You come to several hours later, and hope Dr. H didn't do anything to your body while you were unconscious. When you look into the mirror...
If you win: you have reached 50 points! You get a sharpie marker to do with as you please. peen points go to those with the highest scores.
Group Play Playing in a group on any course means certain things can be shifted to make it a better experience for multiple people without holding anyone back. An approved group play alteration for the life arena goes as follows: When someone knocks the tower down, they are shot with a weaker dart. They will wake up 5 minutes later, the game can be reset back to the point before it fell by placing their hands on the table and saying the word, constructum. This allows them to start again where they left off instead of the beginning. They can take up to three of these darts before passing out for an hour, the game will not reset for them and they will need to try again from the beginning.
Mechanics - by carefully removing pieces of the tower, you earn points and advance to the next round. As the rounds continue, the odds grow steadily against you. Rolling a 1 at any point means you have knocked down the tower. Please do enjoy your mystery dart. Anything after reaching 50 points is purely for peen.
- you may roll pieces individually (suggested for group play) or in batches of 5 (basically, a full round.)
Round 1
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 1 Trainee Roll: 1d10 Life Trainee Roll: 1d12 Hunter Roll: 1d12 Life Hunter Roll: 1d20
Round 2
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 3 Trainee Roll: 1d8 Life Trainee Roll: 1d10 Hunter Roll: 1d10 Life Hunter Roll: 1d12
Round 3
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 4 Trainee Roll: 1d6 Life Trainee Roll: 1d8 Hunter Roll: 1d8 Life Hunter Roll: 1d10
Round 4
Pieces: 5 Points per piece: 10 Trainee Roll: 1d4 Life Trainee Roll: 1d6 Hunter Roll: 1d6 Life Hunter Roll: 1d8
Bonus Mechanics Life Hunters train for precise hand eye coordination and exceptional judgement, thus they have a slightly lower chance of knocking down the tower.

medigel Text to Dean: hey u wanna get some magic supplies? medigel Text to Dean: heard theres a place to get them medigel Text to Dean: just got some kinda ninja warrior game attached to it medigel Text to Dean: [shitty directions] He didn't wait for Dean to reply, either because he was totally confident the other trainee would show up or -- or, well, because Vasily was going to go either way. Within five minutes he was standing outside the portal, pulling his scarf down to frown at it and trying to decide if he was comfortable stepping through on his own after all. If pressed, he'd say he was just waiting. Because it was polite.

Quote: Text to Vash: You ******** nerd
Which was close enough to a yes in the language known as Deanish.
Eventually, he swaggered his way to the portal, after multiple dead ends, run arounds from sadistic veterans, and sheer lack of direction in this confusing a** place. By then, Dean's mood had soured, easily seen in the way his hands remained shoved in his pockets.
"Let's get this over with," he said by means of greeting.
Dean eyed the portal warily. The last time he saw one, it had dumped him into the desert.

"If we beat this thing, we get cool stuff out of it." Vash looked oddly excited about this, for about twenty seconds -- and then he remembered who he was, and who Dean was, and managed to school his expression back toward casual indifference, instead. With a shrug, like this was no big deal, he stepped through the portal. This time, it dumped them into a weird room. Vash hesitated, then had the sense to take a few steps down the stairs so he was out of Dean's way when he followed. It meant he got a good look at the pool down at the bottom, the shapes moving in the water -- "Man, I think there are sharks in there."

It looked like Vash was right. "Dude..." Even someone as prickly as Dean couldn't help but marvel at their surroundings for a while, the indignant huff from before slowly melting away. Cool stuff, he remembered. Probably the only saving grace for this stupid hole in the ocean.
"So," he turned to the jenga tower waiting for them, "we just have to play the game and that's it?" There had to be more. The sharks weren't for show. They couldn't be. Right? Dean caught a flicker of red light and froze, gaze darting up and about like startled prey.
"Holy s**t. They don't seriously have snipers here. No way."

Vash hesitated for a very long moment, taking in the red lights that speckled the room, and he was genuinely uncertain. Then he squared his shoulders and lifted his jaw a little and dug for a confidence that was entirely faked and entirely forced. "It's a scare tactic." He smacked Dean on the arm once, harder than he intended, and then started toward the game set up in the middle of the room. It would have been more convincing if his voice hadn't crackled and wobbled just a bit on the reassurance. "No one's actually going to shoot us." To demonstrate just how unafraid he was, he dropped down at the table and frowned at the tower in front of him. Vasily knew this game and so, confidently, he reached out to grab a piece. And fell over. And was shot, slumping forward unconscious onto the table.

Dean let out an embarrassingly frightened noise and froze on the spot. Oh my ******** god. This was real. Not a show. Not even the barriers were going to help them. Why the ******** back together a sneer at the invisible watchers above them, he darted to Vash and shook him. "Dude! Jesus, wake up, c'mon! Are you alive?"

He was breathing, so that was a good sign, but it was probably still an agonizingly long time before Vasily woke up again -- breathless and surprised with drool down one side of his face and his eyes narrowed. Groggy, he looked at Dean, and then around the room. He swiped at his face, and grimaced. Then looked to the tower, somehow set up again in his time... "What happened?" medigel yeah! also you should probably take a turn next!!

"You got tranq'd the ******** out like a grizzly." Dean tried to lean more towards how hilarious it was than how frightening. His laugh, however, still ended up a bit strained. "It happened as soon as the tower..." He stopped. Why was the tower set up again. How did. What. Dean apprehensively reached out and pulled a piece away. Then another. And another. He stopped when the anxiety in him reached a high point, forced himself to calm down, and crossed his arms at Vash. "See? That's not hard." Status Round: 1Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 25

Two deep breaths in, swiping the rest of the drool -- now half dried -- from his face, and Vash sat back. While Dean pulled pieces free, he studied the area surrounding them, working his mouth and trying to come back into himself. Now he surveyed the lasers with more skepticism, without the careless it's just a trick of minutes before. Of course, they hadn't shot him. Just tranqued him. But... "I hope that s**t doesn't do long term damage." It came out somewhere around Dean's last piece, sudden and thoughtless. Vasily immediately leaned in to start pulling free pieces of his own. "That kind of drug can mess you up, can't it?" Status Round: 1Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 25 KOs: 1/3

"Uh, we're super human now," Dean pointed out, snorting. "I bet it's just like taking a light nap or something. Just don't ******** up or you'll get addicted. I guess." Somehow he continued to pull pieces out easy as you please. "I mean, a little needle's nothing after that desert, eh?" "You say that now --" Vash worked carefully, this time, trying not to <******** it up again. And he did pretty well for the first piece, for the second, which he waved in Dean's direction. "But maybe you won't feel that way when you're shot with one of --" Of course, the third piece was a disaster in his hand. He drooled on the table again, for torturous minutes, before coming back into himself and looking around "---again?" It left him griping, but he went for the next piece all the same. "Rigged." "Yeah, it'd probably suck." Dean continued to pluck out pieces easy as you please, acting like he was a true master. And given that he still hadn't been stuck by a sniper b*****d, maybe he was. "Good thing I don't," he continued smugly. "You're thinking too much. Just pick it at random, dude." Status Round: 3Pieces Taken: 15 Total Points: 60
