Ever since leaving home and striking out on her own Pyrrha had gone through a cacophony of emotion. Most were channeled internally, after all, so she wouldn't frighten any of the children in Zinris or give the adults more cause to worry. It was doubtless that rumors had spread about her little familial falling out, but she didn't worry about that too much. At least, she tried not to, since there was no saving those relationships now.
Instead, she focused on funner things; like counting the amount of spots on the back of a toad as she hung upside down from a tree limb. Pyrrha wasn't that far up, just enough so that she couldn't touch the ground with the tips of her fingers, no matter how hard she stretched, but she was soooooo close. The toad itself was closer still, chilling just out of reach with no ambition to move closer.
Without anyone to tell her to stop she'd stayed in that position for far too long. Her legs had begun to tingle and her head was starting to get really, really fuzzy...

Kanika gave her makeshift target one last swing before deciding to end her work out there. The muscles in her arms were aching and sweat was dripping from her brow, she was going to need a good bath after this. Still she was so close to finally shedding her prentice title that she could not afford to slack here. Grabbing her sling bag, Kanika put her fake sword away and dipped into the forest. She’d been meaning to head to a cool pond when she spotted one of her sisters hanging from a tree, frowning Kanika moved to see what she was doing.
“Pyrrha?” She questioned when she recognized the other Elaria. She didn’t personally know this Elaria but she knew of her, Kanika liked knowing at least by name and face all of the other Elaria. The toad hopped off and Kanika watched it with amusement.

"My my little friend, how long have you known my name?" Her minty eyes widened, trying their best to focus on the little amphibian. Was this the only talking toad, or were they all capable of speech? If so, what had made this one talk, and how long had it known her name? What-? "Oh no, where are you going?" The little creature was hoping away, melding into the toxic environment, and now that she was looking elsewhere she saw two feet. Feet that led up to a pair of legs and a body she recognized.
"Kanika, did you see? A talking toad." Her voice was excited, but still soft, in so many ways. As breezy and wispy as the one speaking. She stretched her fingers out in front of her, barely brushing against the ground this time.

Kanika pursed her lips while she mused at Pyrrha. “Toads don’t speak silly,” she said slowly trying not to burst out laughing. “What are you doing?” She tilted her head trying to see perhaps what the other Elaria saw in the world while she was like that. “Are you busy right now?” Maybe she’d want to be alone or something. “I wouldn’t mind some company.” Her sister was nowhere to be found and there was always something to learn from an older Elaria after all! Though she’d probably skip on any and all toad catching, it wasn’t really her type of thing!

"Just because they haven't spoken to you does not mean they do not speak." Now as she freely dangled she couldn't say what she saw. It was harder, tilting her head up to see Kanika when all the blood was going to her ears and making them fuzzy.
"Oh, I'm never busy; I don't like that sort of thing. But I am stuck so if you could help me down I would very much appreciate it." She motioned vaguely up to her legs, which were uselessly hooked around the branch. "They've fallen asleep, you see, and would rather not move. I would leave them be, it's rude to wake them, but there is the matter of tingling I'm not comfortable with and my head is swimming-"

“Oh!” Forgetting altogether about the speaking toad, Kanika rushed forward to help her sister. This wasn’t a very good predicament now was it! Kanika did wonder briefly why Pyrrha would mind waking up her own legs, weren’t they her legs? Did she not decide when to wake them? Maybe Pyrrha was just a touch odd, or at least, she seemed that way to Kanika. Hooking an arm around her torso and under one of Pyrrha’s arms, Kanika brought her back up with both hands so that at least the other Elaria wouldn’t feel so dizzy. Then trying to hold the older girl in one arm, Kanika struggled to get at least one leg unhooked from the branch. They were both going to end up on the floor after this, Kanika could feel it. “This was not a good idea,” Kanika mused as she tried to keep a grip on Pyrrha.

For a moment she felt as if she were flying, being moved without having to do the work herself. With her head so fuzzy it really was a rather unearthly experience, and for that moment Pyrrha simply went along with it, making a soft 'ooooo' noise as her body was jostled around.
When the feeling began to return to at least one of her legs Pyrrha came back to reality. It was an uncomfortable feeling; not one of pain, but just uneasy enough that once it was actually freed from the branch it seemed to recoil, anxious to make the tingling go away.
"Perhaps not, but I did get to see you today, so I am pleased." The blood was beginning to return to it's proper places, leaving Pyrrha a little disoriented, but at least now, with one leg freed, she was starting to come to her own. Now with only one remaining and standing at a strange angle, with Kanika to help hold her, Pyrrha attempted to move the other herself....which ultimately caused her to abruptly send a lot of weight onto Kanika...

Kanika tried her best to be gentle as she quite literally took down the older Elaria from the tree. She made sure to hold onto her arms to steady her until she was able to stand on her own two feet. It looked like Pyrrha had been hanging a lot longer than expected in that tree and her limbs had gone numb from the blood lose. Kanika wondered why she had been up there like that for so long, what if something had happened? The prentice shook her head, what if she'd fallen off the tree and broken something?
“Well I did stumble on you,” Kanika chuckled lightly. “But if you want to come with me, I'm going out of the village and could use the company.” That and Kanika wasn't allowed to go very far unless she was accompanied by someone older.
She couldn't wait to be old enough to do things on her own, she thought it was so unfair. The Yaeli were no match for the Elaria fighting skills and they were all afraid of their own shadows. Plus, barely any other actually bothered to visit the island so it wasn't like she was in any kind of great danger. She wanted to visit the mainland and see what it was all about. She'd gone before but she wanted to explore more thoroughly. Of course, that wasn't going to happen for a while but one could plan in the meantime, right?

Pyrrha reached out to keep an arm on Kanika as she stood. Her legs weren't yet stable enough to carry her, but the support helped. Even standing as she was Pyrrha wriggled her toes, occasionally lifting a leg to rotate her calf, and as uncomfortable as the feeling was the tingles were slowly starting to fade away. It seemed that the movement was helping.
"Oh yes, that sounds wonderful." Pyrrha wouldn't turn down a chance to get out of the village for a while, even if it were the matron herself asking for company, and she wasn't too keen on her at the moment. "We can follow the toad and see where the rest of it's kind reside. I imagine if they can talk that they've made a village all their own, don't you?"
Ah yes, a secret little society of toads living underneath the muck...and...Pyrrha reached over to run her index finger along the dark paint on Kanika's cheek. Her eyes were transfixed on it until she started to notice other instances of it. "Do you do this to match your mother?"

Kanika tried to hold her features very still, but the corners of her lips twitch from the strain. She wanted to laugh so badly at the thought of a speaking toad village but took some deep breaths. It would be rude to laugh at an elder and really it would make for a fun adventure in the end. She wasn`t sure how many people wouldn’t laugh at them when they mentioned the talking toads but ah well. Kanika did care for what others thought of her. She had her mother’s to thank for that, they’d both raised them as such.
“Hm?” Kanika touched her cheek where Pyrrha had. “Yes it for my mother, to carry a small piece of Lumikani with me. I also want to dye some strands of my hair black like my sister.” She would have a small piece of both of them with her. “It’s to honor them. Never to forget who has raised me to be strong, those who made me who I am today.”
“Anyway! How are your legs feeling? Ready to try walking for a little bit?” If they were talked, even though unlikely so close to the village, they were in a vulnerable position and it make Kanika antsy.

"It's good, that you have a relationship like that. It's important to be close with your mother." Even though such a thing had continuously escaped her it was still nice to see it blossom in others. "I have thought about dying my own hair, but I think I would like a shade of green. That way I would look more like the vines, and less creatures would shy away from me, I think." If only she could become one with the trees and grow her own bark. Then she truly wouldn't ever have to leave the jungle...
"Hmm? Ah, yes, they tingle but I can move them." Just to prove it, Pyrrha raised one of her legs and wriggled her toes. The coloring was a little flushed, but nothing a bit of walking wouldn't cure. She started the effort by moving further away from the village, moving deeper into the jungles that called to her. "Where was it you wished to go again? Or are we just walking? Because I like either; there's so much you can see about the world when you aren't meaning to see anything."

"Green?" Kanika blinked a few times as she mulled the idea over in her mind. t wasn't as crazy as it sounded, though probably not for the same reasons Pyrrha was talking about. "I think it would be good for camouflage, and you'd be able to hide so much better. A good spy practice." Any other reason was unreasonable for Kanika. "I think you should get it done." she gave an encouraging nod of her head.
"We can walk around a bit if you don't mind." If she had known Pyrrha better she might have trusted her enough to show her the secret family spot, but right now she didn't feel comfortable enough. "Any places you know we could see?" Kanika knew the forest around the village very well, but she didn't go out very far and Pyrrha looked like she had taken a many walks around the forest away from the village.

"Hrm? Oh yes, like a very leafy shade of green, something to cover me from head to toe like a living tree. Then I really would be a daughter of Elzira." As she spoke Pyrrha strummed her fingers against her thighs, gliding them up her skin until she reached her shoulders, and spread her arms out wide like branches. The moment was as calming for her as it was brief, leaving her with a sense of wonder. What would it be like if she were to use body paint? Maybe she should try it; surely it would help her to get closer to Elzira then. "Do you really think so? I think I will; surely the elders will see it as a great blessing."
She lowered her arms, allowing the gangly limbs to fall easily at her sides. "I have a place we could go to, but it's a longer walk. I have no qualms with going, though my elder sister, Myrcella, is very adamant about me not going. She said....hrm, what was it...that it was 'suicidal' to go to the coast with the Dretch around?" Pyrrha shrugged her shoulders, as if the thought meant very little to her. "But there is another," She pointed out into the woods, vaguely motioned past a thicket of vines and brush. "We would be close."
