There were many things that Tourmaline loved, she loved hearing stories of all the princesses she adored and wanted to be like, she loved seeing the two-leggers with all their pretty beads and jewelry on their weirdly shaped hoofs, but there was one thing she loved more than most anything else: gems. Tourmaline would go to great lengths to try and get most anything that she desired, and that was even more true when it came to adding more shining, beautiful stones to her ever growing assortment. The mare had heard rumour that the mountains were rich with diamonds near the snowy peaks, and she had decided that was exactly where she would go if it meant she could add something as beautiful as diamonds to her collection of baubles.
The kirin mare realized rather late in to her journey that she had been woefully unprepared. She had food in a small satchel, thinking she had prepared more than enough and that the toll of the trip would be more than enough to keep her feminine shape, well... feminine, but the more she walked and the more exhausted she became, Tourmaline was getting closer and closer to abandoning her quest altogether. The air was cold and bit at her, she hated how the snow made her hooves ache, and she hated that there was absolutely no one around to "save" her from the absolutely horrid conditions that plagued her. Were diamonds really worth all this trouble?
Of course! How could she even think about giving up something as lovely as diamonds! How she would love to see the rainbow sparkles decorate her abode when the light hit them just right. Even if she did have to go through all this trouble, there was always the chance that she would come across some fool that she could... persuade in to her helping her. She had done it many a time before and she was more than confident enough in herself that she'd be able to convince some poor sap that she was some helpless mare that just needed to aid of a strong stallion's hoof and muscle as many times as she needed.
Even so, she still wanted to find somewhere warm to spend her time. She didn't know how to start a fire, that was grueling work she deemed herself, a princess at heart, too dainty and too good for. The trees all looked the same she hated the sound of the odd bird squawking while the rest of the world around her was eerily quiet. Tourmaline had no plans to return to the snow capped mountains any time soon.
The mare shifted nervously, glancing over her shoulder as she took careful steps forward into the unfamiliar area. Her ears remained perked, listening for any changes in her environment, and the kirin slowly went along her way. Then snow started falling and she couldn't help but murmur bitterly as her day got worse. "I should have never done this.... I should have found someone else to do this for me instead."
