[ April 8, 2017 - On My Own ]
Cordelia Carden had no way of knowing when she'd insisted that her cousin and his partner help her bring bedding and supplies up to Corvus in preparation for an extended stay that she would have need to make use of them so soon. She'd spent time at home after getting out of the hospital and her healing was progressing-- simply not fast enough to get her back up to where she needed to be. If she'd been in a position where she could spend time powered as Sailor Corvus the story might have been different, but none of her family or friends had been willing to take the risk that she might be attacked again.
Eta, the Mauvian that had bonded to her once in a lifetime before, and now again, could have suppressed her energy signature for a time. Pushing the limits on that ability and testing out whether or not it would last long enough for her to take a walk in the park or sit powered up on her couch was not a risk she was willing to take. Too many risks, not enough solutions... And where was the safest place to stay powered? The place where no agent of Chaos could track or find her?
That conclusion had settled things. She and Eta would be spending the week on Corvus, giving her the opportunity to spend as much or as little time powered as she needed to without any risk. If she'd had her way, or more time to prepare, Cordelia might have invited someone else to stay with her as well. It might have been nice to have a companion there other than a cat; someone to help her if things became difficult, someone to talk to should she become lonely. With such a limited window of how closely she could schedule trips to the home world of Sailor Corvus, however, she had to make due with what time she had.
"I'll write. I promise."
A notebook was tucked into her travel bag along with sketch book and an assortment of pencils-- a book to keep her occupied and an ipod charged with music, including a recent favorite song that filled her heart with joy and gave her thoughts. Her bag was topped off with a sweater borrowed from a friend, another creature comfort to keep her warm along with others to provide reminders of the people she was leaving behind; her reasons for staying strong. She had something with her to remind her of each of them: Luc, Arin, Fiona, Fritz... And even those who had been with her before. A dream catcher, a friendship bracelet, a handmade scarf given as a Christmas gift one year.
"Are you ready, Eta?" Cordelia reached down, lightly scratching behind the silver feline's ears. When Eta gave her the signal that she was suppressing the energies around them she powered up, making certain that she had her hands on everything she needed take with them to another world... To spend a week on her own.

[ April 9, 2017 - Starting Slow ]
She had pondered spending the night as Sailor Corvus, but with her wounds still knitting she'd been unable to stretch enough to loosen her corset in a way that would have been comfortable to sleep in. It wasn't laced tightly enough to restrict her breathing when she was running around, although the stays did offer support and sometimes it made her feel as though she were wearing armor.
She'd let the guise of Sailor Corvus go in order to sleep, waking that morning with a soft ball of grey fur curled against her side. Eta stirred as she did, the guardian attentive up until she was shoo'd away. She didn't need assistance finding her way to the washroom to clean up, tending to her morning routine before seeing what they could do about breakfast.
The quiet of Corvus was strange when one was used to the late nights and early mornings of a city that rarely slept. There was always something happening back home and here? Here it was more than just a healing retreat for the body. It was a chance to strengthen her mind as well. At some point she had to prove that she could handle being alone; that she had worked past everything that had made the moments of silence ache.
Once cleaned up it was a matter of piecing together breakfast out of the supplies she'd brought with her. There was enough food to last she and the silver tabby for a week; nothing entirely ideal, but all non-perishable and nutritious in the absence of a refrigeration system. It was a breakfast bar and a yogurt pouch that morning, washed down with a bottle of water. For Eta it was a pouch of gourmet tuna-- she seemed to enjoy it, at least, even if it didn't seem like much.
With breakfast out of the way she powered up-- that was the whole purpose of staying on Corvus for the week, anyways. It took her a moment to remove her heels, switching them out for a pair boots more comfortable for wandering around her home world. Another moment longer was spent tugging at the winged bow on her backside, but the effort and strain was hardly worth it.
"Cordelia, you said that we would be taking it easy today. Please don't overdo it early." The silver tabby butted against her senshi's shin, nuzzling her calf to reassure the raven haired woman as she stood.
"I won't, Eta. Promise." Luc would never let her hear the end of it if she hurt herself further while no one else was around. He and Fritz had both worried enough-- Fiona likely would have too had she told her friend the extent of her injuries from the night she'd been summoned to help fight the Reaper.
She hadn't.
She couldn't.
How could she make her worry when--- when she'd already spent time unintentionally pushing her away by being distant?
It's what you do.
It was about time it stopped being what she did and in order for that to happen she had to find herself.

[ April 10, 2017 - Forgotten Flowers ]
Cordelia hadn't pushed herself too far the first full day, but she certainly felt as though she had upon waking the next morning. Her body ached in ways that it hadn't since she'd been freed from the hospital, but it wasn't enough to keep her from getting up and starting over again-- simply enough to remind her to follow the instructions of her Mauvian to take things slow.
They'd agreed mutually, after exploring for a bit the day before and calling it an early evening as a result, that they would relax today. Relaxation, for Sailor Corvus, meant spending time outside in the courtyard.
The courtyard had quickly become one of her favorite places to spend time in the castle. The trickling sound of water flowing through the fountain along with the signs of plant life creeping back gave her hope and made her feel relaxed in a way that few things had. She often got the feeling that she had spent a considerable amount of time here in the past.
---
"Eta! Eta, kitty." The light, soft voice of a child called out in the darkness before the day came in to focus. Bleary-eyed, the silver Mauvian stretched from where she slept, rustling the leaves of the brush surrounding her. When the call came again she trotted out from her cover, a swelling feeling of pride puffing her chest as she caught sight of the young Senshi of Vengeance.
Sailor Corvus was still young-- Aldara, that was the child's name. The days were few and far between where she had a moment to be a child now that her training had begun. Of course, the girl's mother intervened from time to time. She did her best to make sure that Sailor Corvus had a chance to still be Aldara, but even then there was little time for child-like notions like the hide and seek they'd played earlier... Or the gift her charge was holding out for her now.
"There you are, Eta!" The child wiggled her fingers and the feline trotted over, a well time leap landing her on the bowl of the fountain next to the girl. She reached out to scratch the feline behind the ears, the Mauvian eagerly accepting the gesture with a delighted purr.
"I have something for you. Two things, actually, but this first." Corvus-- Aldara, the Mauvian reminded herself again-- was smiling brightly as she shifted, plucking something delicate from beside her. Carefully she set a delicately woven crown of flowers atop the silver tabby's head. "There. Now you're a princess too."
The Mauvian thought to argue that she couldn't possibly be a princess, because she couldn't be, and consider pointing out that if Chibi Sailor Corvus ever wanted to become Princess Corvus she certainly had a lot of work to do, none of which involved flower crowns. She thought to do so, but she didn't, peering down at her reflection in the fountain instead. She looked... She... looked...
Foolish, honestly; a bit daft with a side of absolutely adorable in ways that the often stern Mauvian had never felt applied to her before. The soft fur of her cheeks fluffed as she turned to look to the child, feeling something akin to wonder mixed with adoration. This was her senshi-- this lovely, radiant child with a heart of gold-- and it would be her job to guide and guard her as she blossomed into the stern, cold Senshi of Vengeance.
The feline shook that thought away, the crown of flowers shifting to sink just a bit too low on her ears. Another round of bubbling laughter came from the child who then reached over to straighten the crown. "As Princess Eta, Mauvian Guardian to Chibi Sailor Corvus, also a princess, I wanted you to have this too."
Corvus held out her hands, waiting until the feline was watching them intently. Only then did she open them to reveal the treasure within; a small crow carved out of smooth stone with the symbol of Corvus etched onto its surface. The stone had been threaded with a bit of sturdy leather cord and from that cord it was hung 'round the guardian's neck.
"There. No matter where you go, you'll always be able to find your way back here. Always, Eta."
---
She woke with a start from where she had drifted off to sleep, eyes wide as she glanced around. When she looked up it was to see Eta watching her from the bowl of the fountain, guarding her as she was starting to understand the Mauvian always had.
"Did you....?"
"See that too? Yes-- What's more, I-- Cordelia, I believe I've seen that stone somewhere here as well." Now that she had seen the charm, now that she remembered, she had a pressing need to find it again and a much stronger desire to remember.

[ April 11, 2017 - Pebbles in the Pond]
Four days. Four days of spending hours powered up, letting the magical energies boost the rate of her healing. Corvus woke that morning feeling more refreshed than she had in years, more alive than she'd felt in weeks. The magic of Corvus wasn't just healing her body, it seemed to be lifting her soul.
Eta noticed the change and said as much, even though the feline had been preoccupied since the day prior, working her way through areas previously uncovered-- exploring, seeking, finding.
"Corvus, if it's not too much to ask, might I convince you to accompany me to one of the lower levels of the castle tomorrow?" The silver tabby hopped up onto the rim of the pool, padding over to her senshi to gently but her head against her hand. The guardian made a soft sound of contentment that easily turned into a purr as Corvus began to scratch behind her ears.
"Of course, Eta. Of course."
She sat there for a moment, mind adrift and thinking absently, until something in the water caught her eye. A reflection, she thought-- a shimmer, perhaps. In her mind's eye she saw the glimmer of scales in the sun as fish shifted beneath the surface. Koi. It wasn't the first time she had seen the shadows of creatures long past. She knew from her conversations with Arsinoe that the fish had likely come from there. They were a lingering thought; gentle ghosts of a time past.
This time they felt different.
"Eta, is that..." Her brow furrowed as she nudged the Mau gently away from her, rising up so that reaching across the water pulled mending flesh in the most minimal way possible. It took a moment for her eyes to see past the shimmer of scales that weren't there to the stone lingering at the bottom of the pool. She reached in to grab it, running her thumb over the carved rune with a soft smile on her face as she drew it back from the water.
"Eta, I think this belongs to you."
