It was interesting actually working for her brother’s bakery...though it wasn’t like she hadn’t been pretty much working there for ages now, but she was getting paid in more than cookies now, and that was the best part...though she still did get as many cookies as she wanted...now she just got money too. Today was a rather slow day in the shop, and Carlee was sweeping some crumbs out from under one of the tables and nibbling on a cookie while she worked, wondering why nobody was coming in for baked goods. Maybe it was the weather. Maybe because it was summer and it was hot out...people didn’t feel that they needed cookies right now? That could be it...but… Her brothers cookies were always the best, and people she appreciate them more, at all times of the year. Carlee shook her head sadly and went to go put the broom away, feeling that the tables needed more attention than the floor right now. The last few people that were in here obviously had the table manners of a slug, so there were crumbs all over the table top too. Ugh. So gross.
Maybe actually working here wasn’t as fun as being Arias’s little helper had been…before she just got to talk to people and make them buy cookies. Growing up was tough business sometimes.

Ciel found herself wandering past lots of cute little shop. She was wearing a cute white sundress that admittedly did show off her scars on her arms but most people didn’t mention them. She wore some simple gold jewelry and was carrying a light pink purse. She stopped at a little bakery, she was feeling a bit hungry and felt like cookies would be a nice treat. One of the benefits of being a rich kid but having your only financial supervision living an ocean away was the ability to spend however much she wanted on sweets.
She walked into the bakery and ordered some cookies, taking a seat at one of the free tables. She spotted a girl with brown wavy hair that looked about her age. The girl was cleaning some of the tables, clearly some of the patrons did not have any manners given the mess they had made. Her parents had always taught her to clean up after herself and to act like a proper lady in public.
The girl seemed like she could use a pick me up. “Hey, want one?” She said to the girl when she passed by, offering one of her cookies.

Carlee paused, reaching up and wiping some sweat from her brow, offering the white haired girl a smile when the cookie was offered. “Oh, no thank you, I eat so many of them, I’m quite sure that one day I’m going to turn into one of Arias’s cookies. I mean, not that I’ll be upset when that day comes, I’m sure there’s a lot of things worse than a cookie that I could end up turning into.”
She laughed softly and quickly wiped her hand on her apron, getting the moisture from the cleaning cloth off of it before extending it to the girl. “I haven’t seen you around here before. I’m Carlee. It’s nice to meet you…do you like the cookies? I’ll have to tell my brother if you do—this is his bakery, and I personally think the cookies are the best ever, but I might be just a little biased.”
It was nice to see someone who was her age in the bakery, even nicer that she wanted to talk to her. That was something that Carlee didn’t have many of, friends her age…but, she was normally okay with it. That was just something that happened when you were homeschooled.

Ciel laughed, she liked this girl. “You’re pretty funny.” She said with a smile. Albeit given what Ciel knew it was a bit of a dark sort of humor, there were definitely worse things a person could be turned into than a cookie.
“Nice to meet you Carlee I’m Ciel, I live a bit out of the city. But I was in town today and figured I’d check this place out. Oui, c'est magnifique. They’re delicious.” She said with a smile.
“Which school do you go to, you don’t look familiar?”

Carlee returned the smile and nodded. “I’m glad you like the cookie! I’ll have to let my brother know, he’s the one who made all the recipes, so he’ll be really happy to hear that people do like the cookies. I mean, sometimes I’m pretty sure he just thinks it’s only me who eats them, but clearly that’s not the truth at all.”
She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and sighed, undoing her messy bun from the scrunchie that held in in place, before retying all of her hair up once again. “I’m actually home schooled, so I figure that would do it. I’ve never actually gone to school, but, I really enjoy learning at home, so it works out well for me. My mom is my teacher most of the time and she’s pretty strict, but we still end up having a lot of fun. She’s great.”
Glancing around the cafe, Carlee decided that she did deserve at least a little bit of a break, and plopped into the seat across from Ciel. “What about you? What school do you go to?”

“He must be pretty skilled, I can’t bake to save my life.” She said with a laugh. “Is he trained or is it a family recipe?”
“Oh that's so cool, homeschooling always seems like so much fun.” She had to admit the girl was rather cute. She smiled as the girl sat across from her happy to have the company.
Ciel was a bit hesitant to answer, people tended to act differently once they knew she was a crystal girl. But fair was fair and she had asked first. “I go to Crystal Academy.”

“He just likes baking, I don’t...I don’t think he went to school for it, I’m pretty sure he didn’t, I think he did business in school, but it’s just his passion, you know?” Carlee hesitated, her eyes on Ciel’s cookies. “You know, the more I look at them though, the more I want one...is your offer still there? Can I have one?” She reached out and picked one of them up, taking a bite out of it before the other girl could protest. “Too late...if you didn’t still want me to have one, I can get you a new one.”
She blinked when Ciel mentioned that she went to crystal and she nodded excitedly. “If I were going to go to a school, that would be the one I would want. They have the cutest uniforms ever! I love them. Do you like it there?” Carlee grinned and wiped the crumbs from her face. “I like being homeschooled a lot, but it can get really, really lonely.”

“Well that’s cool, it's nice to have something you’re passionate about.” She thought about it, was there anything besides the war she was truly passionate about. Sure she had her hobbies but she wouldn’t call those her passion.
While she was thinking the other girl reached over and stole one of her cookies bringing her out of her thoughts. “Hey!” She jokingly complained.”Nah I’m good.”
“Yeah the uniform is cute.” She thought about the girl’s question for a moment. “It’s a nice school.” She liked the school alot but some of the girls there could be so stuck up and elitist it was ridiculous. Ciel never liked the idea that her money would somehow make her a better person than anyone else.
“Oh yeah, well you know if….if you want to hang I’m usually not doing much.” Ciel offered, little nervous.
