 Stella was at the playground, she was sitting at the top of the jungle gym watching all the other freshlings playing, she kept careful watch of everything. Stella didn't like bossy people unless she was the one doing the bossing, only a fool would hurt one of her siblings. Stella would pounce a junior or senior if it meant keeping her siblings safe, no body messed with her family but her. Period. Her shark tail moved back and forth as she watched over the freshlings below her perch. Stella spotted the monkey bars and decided to leave her spot and go play on the monkey bars, not as easy as it sounded since Stella had hooves instead of hands thanks to her dad, it also made hitting people tricky unless she wanted to hurt them badly. So she hooked her hooves over things to move and climb, she still fell pretty often.

 Kaipo skipped around the playground, weaving through the other kids as they played with ease. Recess was always the most interesting time of the day- no homework to worry about, no math to struggle through. He hummed to himself, spinning in circles in a clear space. He giggled, looking up at the sky as it spun above him. He stopped as a hybrid girl entered his vision- what was she doing up in the sky? However, as he stopped, the dizziness from his spinning caught up with him and he fell hard to ground. "Owwie..." He sniffled as he pulled himself to a sitting position, rubbing his now tender knee. Tears welled in his eyes as he neared entering a full-blown wailing.

Stella saw the kirin wall down she blinked a moment they hadn't hurt her or her siblings, so she had no reason to be mad at them. She dropped down and went over to them inspecting their wound. "Hey hey it's ok, look at me, hi I'm Stella, want me to get a teacher or a caretaker I can grab a band-aid and you'll be good as new." Stella's words were confident she didn't let anything stand in her way even if it seemed hopeless Stella would never let anything keep her down or hold her back. Pain and fears of others included.

Kaipo sniffled, his lower lip quivering slightly as the hybrid girl lower herself down and spoke to him. She spoke in calm and assertive tones, and it helped a tiny bit, but he was already too close to sobs for him to stop crying. He choked down some tears and gave her a nod. "Y-yeah. A b-bandaid would probably be... probably be good." He said through his tears as he buried his head in the crook of his arm. He should have been more careful. If he had more careful, he probably wouldn't have gotten hurt. His knee throbbed. He didn't want to check if the scrape was bleeding. Somehow that seemed like it would make it feel worse.

Stella went and got a couple of cleaning pads and some band-aids went back to the freshling who had gotten hurt, she went to them slowly so she wouldn't scare them. "Hey I'm Stella and this might sting a little but you'll be alright." She said in a confident tone. "She opened the package and carefully cleaned the freshlings knee off, there was only a tiny bit of blood on the scrap but it still needed to be cleaned. Then Stella opened the band-aids and put them on the freshlings knee. She smiled and said "There all better." Stella was a little nervous then she wanted to help them up but she wasn't sure how they could react to her having a mutation, her hooves as hands weren't exactly normal.

Kaipo kept his face covered with his elbow as the other freshling left and returned the first aid supplies. He nodded again through sniffles when she spoke. Stuff to clean cuts and scrapes always stung- he was well acquainted with that. Without cleaning injuries you could get an infection and that would be bad. He braced for the sting, chewing lightly on his bottom lip, not looking up until she declared that she was finished. "T-thanks." He said as he wiped his face with his sleeve. "I-I'm Kaipo." The girl- Stella- looked a little strange, but really, who was he to judge, especially after she had helped him anyways?

Stella smiled and then held out her arm, her hoof visible, but since grabbing it wouldn't be very comfortable arm it was. "Nice to meet you, though wish I could say you weren't upset at the time." Stella said bluntly "So how did you fall down anyways?" She wondered if this happened to them often. If it did, she wondered if there was a charm she could get them that would help them not to get hurt so often. "Do you fall a lot?" She asked curiously. Stella thought of her own siblings and the boo boos they had gotten here and there, she knew from her parents how to treat boo boos.

Kaipo shook his head, giving another sniffle. Now that he wasn't crying, his nose was starting to run. "No, I don't fall down a lot. I dance and stuff." He rubbed at his eyes with the end of his sleeve again. He'd have to change clothes when he got back to his room- this set was going to get gross if he kept this up. "I was spinning around and I got dizzy and I fell. It was silly, I shouldn't have been spinning around that much. I think I saw you when I was spinning. Were you up high?" He asked, a slight waiver still in his voice.

Stella smiled "Oh you dance that's kool, I don't really have a thing I like to do yet, I watch my siblings and like to keep watch over the other freshlings on the playground though." She nodded and said "Yea I was up high I was sitting on the top of the jungle gym and then I went down to the monkey bars, so I guess I was kinda high in either case since you were on the ground." Stella wasn't really sure what else to say, "Well I guess maybe I'll go back to my spot so you can go back to spinning." Stella said as she put her hooves in her pocket.

"I probably shouldn't spin around for a little while. That's what caused this to begin with. Maybe, next time I'll wait until I'm in a place with a softer ground. It would probably be safer than way, at least." Kaipo said with the smallest of smiles playing at the corners of his lips. He shrugged. "So... You sit up and watch people up at the top of places like... Like a guardian or protector or something?" He tipped his head up in thought, enthralled by the poetry of that idea. "Do you get lonely up there by yourself? I probably would."

Stella nodded and said "That sounds like a good idea." She turned away her little shark tail moving about as she was a little nervous though she put out a tough front because she didn't like others to think she was weak. "I guess so maybe." She kicked her foot in the dirt and said in a sullen tone, "Why would I be lonely?" She asked softly then looked back at Kaipo and asked "So do you have a lot of friends??" Stella asked softly wondering if Kaipo liked her or thought she was a weirdo because she was a hallowed and Kaipo wasn't.

"I don't have like... a lot of friends, but I like talking with people and trying to make friends. I'm not always great with the making friends part. Some people think I talk too much and cry too easy." He shrugged. It was hard not to take that kind of stuff personally, but he could understand. Some people probably thought he was annoying and childish. "But I couldn't talk to people very well if I was up there all the time." His ears dropped ever so slightly as she shrugged yet again. "But I understand if you don't like talking to people and that's fine, really. I just know that I would get lonely."

Stella looked at Kaipo and listened to what they said "I don't mind listening, sometimes I just don't know what to say I guess." She said softly. She wouldn't mind having a friend of her own who liked to talk and didn't mind the way she looked. Kaipo didn't seem to be judging her in any way and that felt good. Of course, her family didn't judge her but they were hallows too, so Stella was never quite sure if people outside the family would like her for who she was or be freaked out because she had hooves instead of hands.

"Well, that makes sense. If there is someone like me who talks a lot and stuff there has to be someone who doesn't, right? But if you can't think of anything to say, I could definitely think of things to say." Kaipo said, sniffling as his nose ran a bit more. He made a face of disgust as he wiped his face again. "Sorry I'm such a walking disaster. I'm a bit hopeless sometimes. It's a complete tragedy, really." He sighed, dramatically. Someday he would be beautiful and graceful- fit to take the grandest of stages. That was not the case right now, though. "If you want, I could sit with you up there sometime. I'm not great at climbing though. I might need some help."

Stella smiled at Kaipo "I like that a lot, so we can be friends then??" She said listening to what Kaipo said and then she shook her head and said "Nope you're not a tragedy and just because you cried doesn't make you weak or bad." Stella leaned in and offered Kaipo a hug to make him feel better at least that was what she hoped it would do, she didn't want to freak Kaipo out. Stella thought a moment and stepped back showing Kaipo her hooves. "Not sure if that would work well maybe we could sit somewhere on the ground instead? Like In one of the play tunnels?"
