Truth or truth hadn't been nearly as fun as she'd been expecting it to be, though in all real honesty, it had been a bit foolish to expect anything too positive from it. As she'd said when Al had been questioning her, they were an island full of Assholes, and the only thing that really kept them from tearing each other apart was the discretion and tact to keep certain thoughts and opinions to themselves. With the truth ring, that safety net was removed. Yes, you learned things you might not have been able to otherwise, but not everything you learned was what you wanted to hear. It had been a little exhausting. She'd gone to sleep that night with too many thoughts in her head, and her belly not nearly as full as she'd have liked. It was growling by the time she'd fallen asleep, and her dreams were restless, cycling things. She hoped the mood of the island as a whole would improve with the sunrise, but she knew better than to be too terribly optimistic on that front. Quote: This is a drabble style orp where anyone is welcome to come in and interact with Peyton at any point during the year they're trapped on the island. Everyone is welcome to pop in and start something up, no need to ask before hand!

fish aren't friends
Nora was not a fisherman, but she was a hungry woman with a big hammer and too much time on her hands. Quite literally she was making a splash attempting to smash the buggers when they got near her feet. It was too damn hot to go find someone to ask or barter with for a runic weapon, and she was already partially in the water anyway. It felt nice, even with the shine of the sun burning her retinas.
"Gods--damn--you--!"

For His SakeAl was reluctant to talk to her. Al was extreeemely reluctant to talk to her. Multiply that with talking to her about this in particular and the whole thing was one great big pile of NOPE. Unfortunately, Melvin was right. Al hated when the man was right, because usually it was about the hardest hitting s**t. The kind of s**t you were loathe to admit anyone could ever be right about. Al pulled his boxers swim trunks up high and marched right up to Peyton the second she'd crossed his path again. “We need to talk.” He may have been holding his breath up to that point, making it all blurt out in a single exhale. Not as cool as it was in his head.

FisticuffsMelvin had allowed time and space between himself and the night of the ring. In that time there was ample time to think, to stare at the ocean and step away from yourself and review. Dawson was also a leading contributor in putting things into perspective.
After a while, he wandered to Peyton as evening was drawing near and the sun was setting for yet another day on the same island which would be the same island tomorrow. "Hey."

fish are friendsDrawn over by the sound of cursing and a considerable amount of splashing--she'd honestly thought someone might have been drowning--Peyton stood on the shore with a curious expression on her face, her head tilted very slightly to one side, and a coconut in her hands. "Nora, everything alright?" for his sakePeyton was working at cleaning a fish she'd managed to catch when Al had marched across the beach to reach her. She blinked up at him as words spilled out of him all in a rush, and her brow arched before she exhaled softly and gave a small shake of her head. She wasn't surprised, really. At least, it wasn't entirely unexpected, and she had a pretty fair idea of what he wanted to talk about, so she'd gesture to the sand across from the rock she was using as a cutting board. "Alright." fisticuffsThey might have been stuck on the island, and there might not be much food, but the view from her little place on the beach as the sun was setting across the water was beautiful. Peyton was sitting with her knees drawn up, arms looped around them and her chin resting on her knees, though she'd lift her head as Melvin approached her. "What's up, Mel?" It was neutral, containing none of the venom it might normally have held when they spoke to each other.

shaking it upLow-hanging fruit was Kade's very favorite kind so it took him a couple of days (eight of them, actually) to work his way around back to the tiny, dusk-skinned blonde. He remembered what she'd said about making her like him before she'd consider anything further and he thought that was plenty fair. He also was willing to be magnanimous because he thought he was a plenty likable guy. Wandering over with a pair of coconuts he shook them so that the water rattled inside. "Did you happen to find any limes?"

shaking it upShe was standing ankle deep in the water of a tide pool, her hair pulled up in a messy bun that left long, pale and pink strands hanging down beside her cheek, and down her back. Her jacket had been abandoned, folded up and left with the rest of her gear where she usually curled up for the night. It left her in a pair of cut offs, a hugging tank top. She blinked as he questioned her, straightening up with an urchin balanced carefully on her palms. Pale eyes flicked to the coconuts in his hands, then back up again with lips pursed. "No such luck on that., unfortunately." Half turning, she'd lift her hands to smile at him over the spines of the urchin. "How do you feel about Uni?" She'd never tried sea urchin roe, but she'd heard from a reliable source that it was supposed to be good.

[companionship]"Is Warrick talking to you?" There was no greeting or other lead-in to the question. Rather unusually, Jordan seemed very tense, something in his eyes suggesting that he was hanging on to his composure by a narrow margin. --- [overdue]A few days after the game with the truth ring, Noah turned up. He approached Peyton, but hung back worriedly, waiting to see if she would acknowledge him.

Fisticuffs Curled up, she looked much smaller on the large expanse of shoreline. He jad to admit without Twitter, he hated her a lot less.
"I wanted to appologize about the night with the ring."

companionshipShe looked tired, as she looked up at Jordan, worn down to the Bone, and not just physically. It actually took her a moment to regesteer what he'd asked her, as if she might have been expecting a different question. E shook her head to clear it. "Sorry." She was distracted. "No, I haven't heard him in a a while." ---------- overdueHe didn't have to wait long. It actually seemed like she might have been expecting him to show up at some point. Or at the very least, she dint look surprised. But she would wait for him to speak first. Expression patient as she looked up at him, a coconut half in her hands with water pooled inside. fisticuffs"Apologize?" She didn't exactly sound doubtful, more curious as she looked up at him.

Fisticuffs "For pushing people. For pushing you. I wasn't in the game for fun. I wanted to drag you through the dirt."
"So ...sorry I'm an a*****e." He said, wishing he had pockets so he could put his hands somewhere and instead crossing his arms across his bare chest.

companionship"I can't hear Ferros either." Jordan rubbed at the ring on his right index finger. "He's here, so why can't I hear him?" He paced a small circle, then made himself stop with a quick shake of his head. "Sorry. I just wanted to know ... if anyone else's weapons weren't talking. Or if it was just us." --- overdueIt took Noah a minute to work up enough courage to speak. He took a breath, let it out, and took a breath again. Then he said, "I -- wanted to apologize. Because I realized I hadn't yet. So. I -- I'm sorry, for hurting you," he said. It had the sound of a speech that had been internally rehearsed repeatedly, nervously. "And I'm sorry for not saying so sooner."

For His SakeAl plopped right down on the indicated sand and stared at her while quietly trying to weave words together in his thoughts. He only got so far with that before exhaling and letting his progress just wash away. There was no point in rehearsing this. It needed to just come out as true to how he felt as possible - and that meant not thinking about it. "Wh..," no, no, no questions he stopped himself. "I..." it wasn't really about him, either. "Noah." He finally started making some?? sense. "Look. We just," why was this so hard? He inhaled and exhaled again, "I'm no so good with words okay. That's part of the problem." He looked around them to make sure no one was nearby eavesdropping. "We need to just talk about this. It's been months and like. I feel like it got bigger with time instead of smaller, somehow?"

fisticuffsPeyton opened her mouth to ask him why he'd want to drag her through the dirt, but she closed it before the question could leave her tongue. She knew why. It wasn't like she was particularly charitable towards him on twitter, nor on the few occasions they met face to face, and his poor decisions really weren't a good enough reason for her to hound him over them over and over. Well, maybe they were, but not in the way she had been going about it. Melvin had been broken. It had started with Rin, and it had just gone down hill form there. You didn't abuse broken people. She watched him for a long moment before turning pale eyes back towards the waves as the rolled in. "I'm sorry, too." companionshipJordan looked as on edge as Peyton felt about the whole thing. She licked her lips, one finger moving along the band of ring where it circled her thumb. "Have you tried summoning him...?" She was half afraid to ask. She could still summon her weapon, but it was harder. Every time she tried it got more difficult, and she couldn't keep him out for very long anymore. overdueThere was a second, after Noah apologized, where that lingering bitterness and hurt rose up again, turning her expression into something cold, hackles raising. And then, just as quickly it thawed again, and Peyton was left looking tired. "I forgave you a long time ago, Noah." There was a brief pause where in her lips twitched, then she amended. "Mostly." for his sakePeyton could feel her brows arching higher and higher with every false start, but she said nothing, waiting patiently for Al to figure out what he was going to say, and how he was going to say it. Because she didn't want to keep fighting this same old fight. It was exhausting, and every time they went at it it dug it all up again. Made it all hurt again, and not for the reasons Al seemed to be assuming. When he finally did manage to articulate his point he'd get a soft, humorless huff as an initial response. "Years," she'd correct, before shaking her head and dragging fingers back though her hair. "And it did, you're right."

pint sizedEver was tall and Peyton was short, something that he didn't rub in her face but he was probably rare in that regard. And he wasn't great about not rubbing it in her face, in the little ways. Micro-aggressions. On the island, this meant that he was more than happy to hoist her up onto his shoulders to aid in gathering coconuts, standing stock still under her while she struggled to pull them loose. As a team, it was probably very effective. Assuming it didn't get under her skin.
