What a delight his first little protege had taken wing and slowly come to power. Drained and filled with such cold emotions, it was interesting to watch him like a fly caught in a web. It was only inevitable that he'd tap out and succumb to his own exhaustion. Poor little cat.
Tendren had bemused himself with watching Ree as of late, proud of his own handiwork. That was, until he'd fallen too many times. What a tragic fate to befall the damage done. He had considered stepping in, but no. He was in Gaia's hands now... literally. He would dare not mess with her territory. Although, quite intrigued the kitten had gotten little old Gaia out from hiding. He wasn't a fool to have not notice. Well, that was that. Nothing to watch, all too bored. Like a night-owl tiredly flipping through channels, he began to assess other suitors. Oh, he had his eyes on one. But he saw where that one was headed. Same story, opposite direction. How unfortunate.
Oh, but what's this. A troubled lonesome and confused soul. Perfect. Yes, this would be the one to guide. And how delightful to find that this one.. Oh, this one. Was his first protege's father. He almost squealed with delight.
However.. he did have his ulterior motives on this one. Older, more experienced. And it seemed he had already been through a lot. This one would prove to fair much better and become much stronger, yes.
Yes, indeed.
Oh how, Tendren made quick work of writing out a letter on old parchment. Quill and ink frantic across the paper, but such eloquent cursive he still managed, writing out his words to reach out to his second suitor.
A raven shifted from the shadows within the quiet hospital room, perched at the railing along the bed. Scooting carefully down the metal as to not wake the sleeping child next to his legs. Who knew how she got there, it didn't matter. The raven tilted its head curiously, letter grasped in its beak as it carefully stepped onto Tri's good arm, climbing it's way delicately up his arm and rustling his hair slightly with the paper. Tilting its head back and forth as it checked for any sign of consciousness. Eventually, at the first sign of wakefulness, it dropped the letter on his chest, backed up before looking like it would take flight but merely flapped its wings and disappeared.
The letter, despite being freshly written was on old paper and in an off-white almost burnt colored envelope. The seal on the back bore the mark of Gaia in dark gold color and was accompanied by the imprint of feathers on either side of the symbol in fresh wax. On the front of the envelope was a sporadic cursive that had splattered a bit of ink to the side as though written with vigor and passion: Trisuri
Greetings Trisuri,
With each passing second, a war wages on among the races. It's hard to escape this fact alone, that if things continue, there will be nothing left. As someone who has been a key role and bystander to the events that have unfolded, you of all people could understand how devastating the effects have been. Needless death, innocent lives taken, children hurt... And for a cause no one is quite sure of anymore.
You've seen it. Experienced it. You've been so valiant to protect those that you've held dear, and even despite your best efforts, there have been hang ups. I, more than anyone, can understand your plight in all this. But you are certainly not alone. There are others that have felt the burdens of these events.
It's why I have reached out to you. To ask you consider joining the ranks of the elders. I want to give you the opportunity to become stronger, to be able to protect the ones you hold dear, while you can help others in need, and guide those that have also lost their way. We need people, people that understand the intricacies of tactics and war. You've always been a soldier, and that makes you perfect for the task. Because as you know, if we can quell this war, we can put an end to the tragedies that befall the ones we love. To our race. With your aid, we can certainly bring peace to the people, and with peace, comes the prosperity of your family.. and everyone else's.
But it is up to you to take on this task. The trials you will face will not be easy tasks, but I have the utmost faith in your success. You just need to decide for yourself what it is you need to strengthen in your search for an elevated position of stability. To transcend into a state of mind that would allow you to share your power and guidance with those that need it, just as much as you need this. To protect the ones that cannot protect themselves. You are the only one who can decide what it is that you lack to achieve this.
Whether it be protection, you could travel to the City of Pilver, on an island in the south, and seek what training with man known only as Dr. Rhett Crivaro. He knows the true trials you will face and can prepare you for the best defense to protect your loved ones.
It could be possible that you may seek out a group named Herr Gates' Serendipity. They have been rumored to be miracle workers. They can fix the broken, bring back what is lost, heal the lost and weary. There are far too many things they have said to have done. If there is something you desire, a wish to be granted, I suggest you speak with them.
Or you could wish to seek out Gaia herself for a divine gift, they call Symbols of Radiance. These artifacts that enlighten your spirit and mind as well as true strength. She is all knowing and wise, if there is guidance or knowledge that you seek, she is best suited to answer.
What you choose for yourself in the end is your choice to make. The path you choose to carve will be hard and treacherous, but you have undoubtedly been through your share of hardships, this will simply be no different, only in the end, you will be much stronger for it. I have no doubt in my mind that you can complete this, but it is up to you to take the first step.
I wish you the best of luck,
Respectfully Yours, Tendren Alastor
midnightspirit Once you are ready to begin, please respond with Tri's reaction to the above, and his first step towards finding the path he chooses. You may quote "Broken_Illumination" from this point forward.

Glowing eyes opened sleepily but it took him a bit to come to full wakefulness, had his shadow been out again? For a moment he thought he saw his shadow raven before it faded again. He only pondered it for a moment as he tried to sit up, careful of the way he moved even if the injury had been healed, and was satisfied of the reason once he saw the child. He would be more wary wouldn't he. With a soft sigh he turned to grab a glass of water when he noticed the letter. Picking it up he glanced at it forward and back with a faint frown before just opening it. His frown became even more pronounced as he read it again and looked at the child at his feet. Placing the letter down he pressed a button to call the desk, a few minutes later one of the military healers popped in with a faintly curiously look. . "I would like to talk to Kae, I think we might have a security breach " he said calmly as he motioned to the letter but did not offer it to them. The healer stared at it and nodded before heading off to call Kae.

Hexxis remained asleep, curled up next to Tri's knees, undisturbed.. not like she could be so easily moved. Even the talking didn't wake her. Sound asleep, and for once, it seemed relatively peaceful.Kae entered some minutes later, looking a little exhausted and limping only slightly now. She had a serious look on her face as she entered, moving close before setting eyes on Tri. "You called for me... something about a possible breech.." she spoke softly, a cautious glance at Hexxis as if to acknowledge that she wouldn't wake her if she could help it.

As he waited, the shadow of the cougar formed and moved to lay down by Hexxis. After making sure there was nothing odd in the room he re-read the letter until Kae arrived.
"Yes... A Tendren Alestor? " he said holding the letter out to her. "I found this on me when I woke up and usually if anyone were to send me anything it would have been sent to you or Mara first" he informed her. "The contents concern me..last time I heard of Elder it was speculation from Andy's lips, one she was unable to explain." he said keeping his voice down to slightly higher than a whisper.

Kae arched an eyebrow and grabbed the letter, read it a few times before taking a moment to collect her thoughts. Taking a breath, she looked at Tri seriously for a moment, before frowning sympathetically.
"Tendren is the Elder over Ghost race Metas. I assume he's reaching out to you as you are part shadow." she sighed. "Elders are chosen by the original four elders of each prospective race group. Nova for Angels, Avon for Demons, Liliana for faes, and Tendren for Ghosts. Here's the thing... What he's saying is true. If they are seeking new elders, they must really need them. Its a trial... a quest, if you will, to test your abilities in becoming an elder. Its up to you whether to choose to go."
Kae looked down to Hexxis. "I can watch her for you while you're gone. Or you can take her with you.... I know its a difficult thing to take on but she may be safer at your side than here. Up to you..."
She took one last cursory glance at the letter before handing it back. "So what are you gonna choose.... Will you go?" she asked softly.

Tri blinked expecting Kae to laugh it off as a joke or maybe even consider it a trap. He shook his head realizing she was serious the moment when she gave him that sympathetic look. "No, what is an elder...what is their purpose what is the difference between then and anyone else?" he sighed. "I had this conversation with Andy .." he grimaced. "When she ..." he blinked then frowned. "mentioned that she and Ree might be elder...something about a letter from Nova..." he stopped suddenly, those were things he wasn't supposed to remember... but this wasn't Mara. Kae didn't know what he should or shouldn't remember.
He took a breath "It is what has left Ree a husk of what he was...Andy a mute and blind meat hungry lunatic...and who knows what else. " he said with a trace of anger. "It is creating unstable people who will need to be stopped or controlled and you are asking me if I am going to join them? " he shook his head. "The first choice deals with a doctor, someone to be guarded ..or someone who experiments on you. The second is a bunch of quacks creating "miracles", if there was any truth to that Haven would have them and the third? ..." he said nothing to show how ludicrous that was, even if the group option had pluck a feeling in him...maybe heal Ree's mental damage? or Hexxis memories? but ultimately no.
"It is as crazy as when Ree mentioned dimension jumping "goddesses" " he shook his head. " I had hope you would see the danger for what it is" he said truthfully but slightly disappointed, knowing Mara would have.

Kae frowned. Elders are enlightened and powerful beings of all the Meta races. They are the strongest and have a higher connection to plains of existence that simply can't be reached in the state Metas are in as adults. Their purpose is to serve as Gaia's warriors and guiders." she tried to explain leaning against the edge of the bed, a little focused on Hexxis as she spoke. "Sounds about right... Nova is the overseer of angel metas."
Kae shook her head. "There are many elders before them. There are those that succeed. And others that do not. Ree and Andy are prime examples of what can happen if you falter on such a quest. Like I said, it tests your abilities. Your weaknesses. Its not easy. Some come out perfectly fine and better for it. But its not a guarantee. You need to feel you're ready to make a difference. Because the moment you doubt yourself, you could easily fall prey to your inner demons." she explained. "This is a very rare opportunity. And its not meant to create unstable elders. Its meant to make you better. They mean well, but in the end its up to you whether to follow through."
"Look, every quest has its dangers. But what's outlined in there is true. It may not be direct, and may be exactly as you think. But it also does also give you what it says. So you go find that group.. Maybe they are quacks...but they will provide you a miracle. A jekyl and Hyde doctor? Sure, but you will be given the power to protect. And that's not even to say he isn't just a secluded old guy with nothing to do but train you as a protege in the middle of the woods like some coming of age story. Ita not important what it is...what's important is what you gain... So really take that into consideration."
Kae folded her arms, "You're acting like its a wives tale. How the hell you think you all were made. Gaia is real.... A dimension jumping goddess. And so is Valentein but I don't really want to talk about her... she's the one that started all this mess. Anyway, it was Gaias DNA that we used to create the meta race and you are all her children. So third option, yep, that's real too." she sighed. "Of course its dangerous. But is that danger worth being something more than you are now. To be stronger. And protect Mara... and Hexxis.. and Ree. That's what you need to focus on."

He listened to her silently, taking in the definition that Andy had been unable to explain before and if Ree was an Elder which was starting to sound more and more like it... he was pissed off. Ree had been in no way mentally ready and now they are giving him that?
He stared silently at her "They are all a danger " he said simply. " Not just for humans but for all spe- ..." he paused again and his eyes went dead as he snapped two and two. "Blaise as well? You saw what happened in Criel." he said calmly. "Murder squad isn't sane either. "
His eyes narrowed very faintly "I know how to fight, why would I go looking for someone to do that? It depends if the person who I want to protect wish to be protected. Ree doesn't but needs it now.. I don't even know where he is ,Mara doesn't ...and Hexxis is more incline to protect me than visa versa " he responded, something about that stinging him at his core.
Tri raised his brow at Kae at the mention of Gaia and then dropped at the mention of Valentein. She was in it with Ree...what could he even say there? She knew where he was all this time..she could have stopped him or helped him.
"There is no gain. "he said calmly remember the time he had gone crazy...truly crazy where they told him how he tried to kill Ree and Hexxis and he never wanted to reach that point again. "Thank you for your information... I am assuming you aren't going to be changing anything due to how the letter arrives?"

"Hmm, then you have your choice... Simple. You don't have to take it. Great thing about elder quests if you have the choice not to take it. Although, you'd be the first to look a gift horse in the mouth. Not a bad thing, just find it funny." she snorted softly.
"Alright, well, get some rest then." she spoke, moving to leave the room. Pausing at his question, "Nah, if you're answer is no, they won't continue to contact you. We have nothing to worry about." she waved her hand dismissively and left.

Tri looked after her as she left and shook his head, a gifted horse? that was her view of jumping blindly for a large gain without looking where you might land. It was the same trouble with gamblers and risk takers, eyes on the prize and not on the ground. He would help no one dead.
He was bothered when she said there would be no change to security when it was an obvious hole in the net but there was precious little he could do right now other than to warn Mara once she woke up. Looking back down at Hexxis he sighed softly and let go of that concern, he still needed to go find Ree...not even sure what he would do with Silence.
Reaching down he covered her and turned until it was easier for him to cover her. As a last thing he raised a shield of light around them, not trusting Kae's word on that. After a bit he still couldn't sleep even if he was tired, grabbing his phone instead to look for any mentions of over powered metas.

There was silence for some time. Tri only really finding small talks of elders in a general sense but no details as well as mentions of Blaise and Andy even years ago. Not much information seemed to be present for what he was looking for. Although, there was a few pieces here and there of the elders actually being helpful and respected before the escalation of hostility.
Hexxis took in a deep breath and sighed. Moving slightly to look up at him, looking fairly awake as she stared quietly at him.

Tri sighed finding nothing that was helpful there than a few pieces that dealt with the four main elders. He doubted the governments knew...if they did this war would have started a whole lot earlier.
A slight shift of the bed caught his attention as he turned to look down at Hexxis. "..Hello" he said quietly glancing to make sure it wasn't the light of the screen that had woken her. Turning it off he pocketed it and turned his attention to her, looking for damage similar to Ree's after being told what happened. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly, wanting to know as he pushed the matter of the letter out of his mind for now.

Hexxis stared at him with a blank expression as normal, appearing to just be taking in his features. She glanced to the phone as he pocketed it before looking back up at him when he asked her a question. She stared for a moment, looked down and frowned. "...possible trepidation..." she answered simply. Maybe that wasn't the answer he was looking for. She considered different possibilities on what she could answer. It was her fault. She gave a soft sigh and looked him in the eyes with a hint of pain. "I feel like I'm struggling to breathe when there is nothing physically wrong with my lungs. Like a corrosion from within that not only spreads in my core but my head as well. It causes an apprehensive sinking in my stomach that almost feelings like my entire body is sinking while there is nothing that I can do." she looked down again, obviously struggling to explain what it was she felt. "I feel like.. the current state is not how it should be and I am that reason. It.. does not feel good." she added then her frown deepened. "It's dark within. And I can't stop it. It's because I am incapable of controlling what I expect to happen." There was a searching desperation in her eyes, looking for an answer that she didn't have. "I do not understand..." she muttered. She opened her mouth to say more, wanting to ask if she was the problem, but she simply couldn't bring herself to ask that, her expression slowly fading back to a blank one as she sat in silence, deep in thought.

Tri listened to her and his face moved from an emotionless stare to mild concern then a flicker of fear. He was not sure what she was describing, was it a feeling or a pain from what had happened? The state..of how she was?
"Is this...a physical pain? Do you want me to call the healers?" he asked confused, not sure what she was talking about and hoping it had nothing to do with her health.
"Gaia.... she overheard you both. She's fine other than you made her feel like crap and she thinks it is her fault"
Tri jerked back a little in surprise as she look on his face went from surprise to concern. "I....I see" he said with only the slightest of stutters.
"... Hexxis it is not your fault. Not the you of now" he sighed softly. "I was speaking mostly of your previous self as well as Mara and Ree. " knowing someone was snorting even if he couldn't hear them.
"I do not understand what you mean by being incapable of controlling what you expect to happen? Very few people know what will happen.... that is not something you need to do..." he said sounding a little more than lost.
