GM SEGMENTS: PAGE 3, 9, 18

It was an equally gloomy morning when the text arrived, steady raim pouring, the winds already picking up. A text message:

Text from Mark

Lighthouse

Either Mark really wanted a lighthouse or someone else had broken their phone again.

Rep didn't take long to get there, used to being called up at short notice. He arrived at the lighthouse dressed for a mission and only a little out of breath, unconcerned by the weather and actually a little glad of the breeze.

He'd gotten really good at getting scrambled at short notice.

The lighthouse, or the poor damaged remains seemed to be glistening with extra fervour today. Occasionally some form of glossy white light passed through the thickening clouds and revealed-

A massive shape curled around the structure, like some King Kong parody, the bare outlines of squid tentacles present. Someone was shouting, apparently suspended in mid-air until closer inspection revealed a watery appendage. Mark, probably, doing his best impression of a damsel in distress.

It was very realistic.

Rep didn't need much reason to summon Tracey, calling forth the huge axe with a flourish. Tentacles put him in mind of the titan and he had a good idea how to do some damage to them.

It was a relief to be fighting anything other than a ******** titan.

He struck once and took a further run up to hit it again.

This time higher, more definite and higher he struck, making a dent in the flesh of the thing.

"You've got ******** scissors!" he yelled to Mark as he set about Jack and the beanstalking the tentacle.

Tracey lit up like a very sharp Christmas tree as he dug it into the tentacle, pretty glad that the weapon more often than not made very short work of anything he turned them towards. This time seemed at least for now to be the case.

The tentacle finally relinquished, dispersing into droplets of water that scattered all directions. Mark clung to the exposed side of the lighthouse wall for dear life.

"Catch me," he yelled, about five feet up. He then jumped dramatically, only to get his coat stuck on one of the jutting ledges, and hung, barely two feet from the shallow water circling around them. Today was one of those babysitting days and no matter what Rep deliberated, the large translucent thing - squid- was back for a round two, one large arm imprinting the sand floor beneath the thin layer of salt water.

"Get em Rep!" Mark shouted encouragingly. He then, hanging and all, started texting.

GIANT SQUID: 480 HP.

Defeating this squid will open up portals for use. Feel free to quote people to ask for help, or attempt to tough this out man to thing. (Just quote me when you finish attacking and I'll roll out damage.)

Rep, to his credit, did try to catch Mark, ready to catch him from where he jumped, even if it cost him a few lumps and bruises. When he snagged himself he was a bit more relieved and turned his attention back to the thing attacking them, the thing that wouldn't back off at all and which seemed a lot ******** bigger than he'd realised.

"I think I need some backup." He said to the other man and immediately fished out his phone. It was ******** big and he wasn't out to be a hero today.

So he sent a group text. It read.

"HUGE SQUID AT PORTAL. COME HELP."

Jordan showed up with Ferros already summoned; this wasn't particularly odd, considering the message. "That's large," he observed, pausing only for a moment. "You okay?"

He moved smoothly into an attack, bringing Ferros down on a large, watery tentacle.

Finn showed up fairy promptly, despite hesitating initially due to the fact that fighting a giant squid didn't exactly appeal.

However, it wasn't like he had anything better to do, and besides that, it was sort of his job to make sure that people made it off of the battle field alive. This sounded like the kind of situation where he might possibly be needed, especially if the influx of new trainees decided to show up and try and be heroic.

For now, since it didn't really appear as if anybody was in immediate danger that they needed to be saved from, he summoned Trynt and attacked.

He could become somebodies human body shield later.

It wasn't that Rep didn't constantly run into huge trouble that was above his weight class, it was that the portals were rarely working when he did. This time, however, Harrison was happy to lend a sword or two to the problem.

"Looks right out of that game you guys were playing, what's it, Squidoo?"

"No the first time you've said that to me." Rep said with a wink at Jordan. His relief at people arriving was significant.

"Thanks for swinging by mate." he said to Finn, he'd been concerned only newbies would show up and they'd all be ********." Rep said to Harrison through gritted teeth. Harrison's inability to remember the name of a single game practically bordered on the malicious at times and was the worst thing ever to Rep.

"But this is a lot less cute than that. Keep an eye on Mark too"

He chopped at it again but didn't get the traction he'd hoped.

Then Al showed up to the party, Nuru already out and ready for some action. He didn't bother to greet anyone yet before rushing in to take a swipe at a tentacle with the sharp jaggedy toothy side of his weapon, sending the appendage reeling.

"I was worried there'd be nothing left for me," Al finally spoke before looking for a closer target to take on.

A giant squid attacking the lighthouse was a bit hard to ignore, even in the wake of a lot of water golems wandering around Deus. Getting not much in the way of sleep had left Melvin wandering between the labs and home and he was on his way back when he saw hunters, weapons ready, heading over.

"This is just getting worse." He said to himself, still wondering what the hell was going on and having a sinking (no pun intended) feeling about what Kim told him days prior.

Heading over, he readied Saliva. Lining his sites, he fired at a tentacle and walked over. "So I see we're all having a wonderful morning."

"Jesus Christ."

Ever's tone was a bit horrified as he approached; enough that he paused for just a moment, a few feet away, with his shitty little flip phone still in hand and his hair only half-up. Wherever he'd been, apparently he hadn't had time to fully put himself back together, and had come running half-cocked, instead. His shirt might have been on backwards.

But it might have been like that anyway, hard to say.

After that breath, he finally stepped forward, dropping the phone in his pocket and summoning his weapon to stave off a tentacle. Zeke was probably going to be pissed at him for attacking the creature. Assuming Zeke ever found out.

"What did you do, Rep?"
