In her dream, she saw many things - her childhood, the time she studied in school and also the outbreak in Delta. As a runic hunter, she didn't get too much information about the situation of the mall rats. It was such a hard time, she and others stayed in the mall as their base - and something terrible happened...... The signal light of her pod switched off, and the lid clicked opened. Gretel flinched as if someone had distrubed her sleep. It was difficult to get decent sleeps during the outbreak, a small noise and they would be waken up to check if the infected found a loophole to get in. Even after she was saved, she didn't get to sleep well each night. Her eyes began to roll actively behind her closed eyelids, before she opened her eyes, she felt something wrong already. The bed wasn't as soft as it used to be and she felt unreasonably cold. Discomfort had forced her to wake up. At first, everything was blurred in front of her eyes. Gretel hardly made out some greys out of the whiteness. She was sure it wasn't her room, where was she? She squinted her eyes with a calm expression then realized she wasn't wearing her glasses. Fiddled around with a hand, she caught the glasses and put it on. It was a strange place she was currently at, many oval shaped set-up in lines and lights blinked in a slow steady sequence. When in doubt, Gretel took her time to muse. Just enough clothed, she felt the air-conditioner of the room was a bit too strong.

Chris was on pod duty. He'd done it a few times but never had anyone wake up while he was around. They told him he had to work in every division's duties because he was Mist, from patrols to light nursing in the infirmary. He actually liked pod duty. It was quiet and it gave him time to read and journal. Having the lights start to go off and the alarms ringing in the office actually jolted the young man out of his seat. s**t, s**t..He'd never done this before. Chris grabbed one of the lab coats and threw it on. It was too big on his skinny frame and the collar was tucked in on one side but he was in too much of a panic to fix himself. Next he snagged a clipboard, looked at the screen, and wrote the relevant information down. Just as Gretel was putting on her glasses she was greeted by a tall, but thing young man with floppy dark hair and freckles. Chris didn't look very confident about this but he looked down at the clip board over and over again. "Gretel? Um.. Gretel Sweet?" Wait, really? Was that her real name? It at least got a small smile out of him.

There were only a few moments Gretel did panick, when Jeff was nowhere to be found was one of them. She carefully retrieved backward what was last on her mind, she remembered talking to some hunters who arranged her for a test they called trials and then - Interrupted her train of thought was a young man looking a bit nervous, she gave him a lukewarm glance. "Yes, that's me." It was expected to be made a joke of when their parents decided it so lightly. "And you?" As the only person she could talk to and get information from, she won't let him go so easily.

"Me?" Chris blinked blue eyes in surprise, pen flicking against his chest to himself, "Oh um. Chris. Christopher Lee." Yes, like the famous actor. Which I guess put them on even keel with names. "Do you want help.. like out of the pod thing?" He was supposed to ask her questions but maybe she should get moving first. He offered a hand, "You've been in there a while so maybe you should make sure you can move and stuff.." And stuff. He sounded so professional.

She simply nodded when Chris introduced himself, wondering if his Surname suggested that he was an Asian. Gretel was having Bruce Lee in her mind while the man offered his hand, she looked at it and blinked slowly. Just before he might take it as a refusal, she touched him and got herself out. Gretel landed on the ground carefully, her body felt a bit numb not moving for however long it was. After her body got used to it, she turned to Chris. "So what should I need to know?"

After she got to her feet his hand retreated, curling in on itself like he wasn't much used to touching others. "Well um, I guess what do you remember? We can start there?" He was checking things off on the clipboard, things about her physical state and mental clarity. "I'm not like.. analyzing you," He smiled a moment and wobbled the clip board, "just paperwork so they know I did my job right."

Gretel was quiet for a while, "I remember asking to become a hunter officially in exchange for something I want." That was a quick answer without leaking any personal information. Then she turned to look at him again, waiting for his next question. It was a common knowledge what a patient would be asked after they wake up in hospital. She guessed it would be a place functioned similar to that. She would reply to his question so he would finish his work but afterwards it would be her time to throw him questions.

"Oh.." Chris blinked in surprise. She seemed to remember quite a bit. The young man smiled and scribbled down that she was cognitive and receptive of where they were. "Well that makes this easier I guess," He scratched his jaw with the pen, "So you're on the Deus island and you are a hunter now.. so yay. I hope you got what you wanted.." His brows lifted but he didn't press and ask what it was. "So now basically you go get your room assignment, your things should be there, your uniform coat.." His own was visible under the oversized labcoat. Plain white with plain trim. He was no one important. "And then you should meet your partner.." he tugged his ear where silver earrings lined them. Five on each ear. "Weapon, that is." In his head Jack, who had remained blissfully silent, grunted only slight approval that Chris wasn't screwing this up.

"Thanks," Gretel flashed a small smile, thinking Chris was quite a nice person. "Not yet, they said I have to prove myself useful first." She frowned seriously, still ambiguous about what she had asked for. What he followed to tell him was some basic stuff, like the time when she first arrived at Delta branch, it wasn't unfamiliar. "Partner...." She mused as she chewed over the meaning of the word. "What kind of relationship we shall maintain with a weapon? Is it possible that none would fit me?" The newly awakened huntress looked into Chris's eyes with a serious face. As a runic hunter, the weapon she got was an object. Gretel heard that true hunter weapon was sentiment, it bothered her a litte bit since she wasn't good at getting along with people, proved by her dorm roommates.

"Well you don't pick it. It picks you and I haven't heard of anyone not getting a weapon.." Chris and his weapon weren't always on the same page, and it was an adjustment to have a voice in your head all the time, but he had never thought about having a weapon that hated you or something. "So basically you leave here.." He motioned where giant EXIT sign pointed, "And there will be a place called the Cove where you will meet your weapon. Don't worry about picking the wrong one, like I said, the wand chooses the wizard." Just like Harry Potter.

His words had made Gretel slightly relieved. It was not that she think he was lying, just she believed whatever she sees with her own eyes. As he gestured her the way she should go, her eyes followed calmly. "Wand chooses the wizard, huh?" From her tone, she seemed to get what he made reference of. "Anyway, Chris Lee. Will we meet again?" Thinking about it, even working at Delta branch she didn't see people coming from mall. She heard that the island was the headquarters so she wondered the possibility.

"Just Chris works.." His smile twitched again, "And I don't see why not. I'm a trainee too. Mist Division.." The young man flipped his bangs a bit from his eyes and tucked the clip board under his arm, "I have a dorm in the basement. The place is kind of beat up right now, fair warning, but we all have rooms here so you can potentially run into pretty much anyone in the organization." He walked a few steps towards the exit. He couldn't leave, because he was on duty, but it was clear she was welcome to go on ahead now, "I hang in the common rooms too. If you see me around just say hi, I guess.." He didn't have a ton of friends but mostly because he kept to himself a lot.

"Alright Chris -," she frowned obviously. It was difficult to change in such a short time and it was awkward to call him Mr. Lee to being with. "Thanks for your help and see you later." Her voice was flat but not unfriendly. Gretel pushed her glasses once, she was a bit nervous of what might await for her. She paused to take a breathe, encouraged herself it won't be as bad as the casino. An expression of sorrow flashed across her face but vanished quickly. She wondered which division she would get in, working with Chris didn't sound a bad option.
