Things had gotten hard after the terrors of the attacks on the island. Some Hunters were working hard, others had finished working hard. Kim was one of the latter who was now looking for a nice place to take a nap and just rest for a while.
There were places on the island she had not been, places she didn't know anything about, but one place was calling out to her at the moment. A huge tree set in the island. It offered shade and was not so close to the water as to be an issue at the moment.
Kim grinned and bounded her way over to the legacy tree, not aware of what it was, and sat down under it. "Hello tree, mind if I take a seat here? I need to keep out of the sun, and.. well you aren't all wet so it makes for a nice place.."
She frowned a moment and patted the base of the tree. "Hmm, I have something from a watery place, maybe.. it can help water you? Would you like this?" She pulled the pyramid shaped item from her hip belt and held it up. "It can keep your soil moist, and if not I will take it back."
Why was she talking to a tree? Seriously what was wrong with her? It just felt right though. "I'm going to take a nap here.. so.. well .. thank you."

The tree is both very old and very young, but this island is his and Kim is his, and now this gift is his as well. And in so doing, the entire island took claim of the stolen item, the entirety of its shores and people took on the curse. And something shifted. The Curse of Atlantis was a curse of degrees. Meant to keep enemies from plundering the ancient civilizations technologies, but also allow amends to be made and lessons learned, a single item taken by a single person is a matter of increasing discomfort and nightmares. But should they hold it too long despite this warning, should their people take it up and hold it aloft in ownership... Well, that's not just a matter of petty theft. That's a declaration of war. Kim would sleep very well in the safety of the Tree's embrace, the first truly peaceful night in months. The nightmare would now be for her waking hours.

Kim needless to say had zero idea that she had done anything. In fact she hadn't really thought a tree able to take anything from her. She instead had planned to have the artifact returned as soon as she could find a way to do it. Now, unfortuneatly she had only made things worse. Kim did sleep well, for once not dreaming of water and drowning. When she awoke though things felt strange. There was a tension in the air making her feel like things were not going to bee good.

Upon waking truly and fully for the first time in a long while without water in her shoes, Kim took in her whereabouts. Why had she come here of all places? She had to have taken a boat over to be on this island. She looked at the huge tree and smiled a little. It was kind of strange looking, but it felt nice to be around. Chinthliss was babbling something in the back of her mind and she wasn't quite catching it all. She sighed and tried to ask him to slow down and all he could say was Big mistake, stupid idiot and What have you done?Huh? She peered around not really noting anything too bad. Not yet anyway. Still she had things to do. She was supposed to meet Melvin about getting rid of the artifact today. Where had it gone? Kim knelt down and looked for it, sure she had brought it with her as she always had. Then faint memories kicked in. Her sleep, mumbling something to the tree. She had put it down, and.. fell asleep. What had she said? "Oh s**t... what have I done?" The bottom fell out of her guts and a cold chill passed through her. Oh she had ******** up big time. She dropped to her knees and put her head in her hands. "I'm so dead...." Kim had no idea what to do now, she she did the only thing she could. She hit the text button and pulled up a name from the life division she had heard one from the trip to Atlantis. Melvin: I think I did something really bad. I need help. Please come to the island where the big tree is... Kim

There were no words to describe how utterly exhausted Melvin was when he arrived on the shore of the island that housed the Tree. His expression was somber and was already done with whatever was happening before he even heard whatever it was that had happened. Having just left the Sahara, he was tired, and he still felt himself grappling with the onslaught of loss and near loss from the excursion.
Without a coat, he felt barren, and he touched his shoulders where Rin's other half of his coat once was - now gone.
He thought of where he had left Lawr in the infirmary to be tended too and was unsure of the full extent of the damage yet. The worst thing was that he might wake up and see he wasn't there, and assume he had never been there at all despite doing everything he could to get him back home.
The only reason he was here, was because whatever thing that had happened, was a concern when it mentioned THIS one island. Even stepping foot on it's shored made him feel even more sick than his twisted nerves had left him, and he walked up slowly until he spotted Kim.
"I brought a raft for you." Considering Kim's condition and how he had to drag her back to shore after Atlantis, he doubted she would make it Deus's shore and he was too tired to carry her on his back. He did enough of that with Lawr just moments ago.
"What happened Kim? What are you here of all places?"

Kim wasn't blind she could see the once energetic man looked too tired and worn to deal with what she had done. If things went as bad as she felt they would he may not help. Heck in his place would she? Well yeah but she liked fights. This may be too much though. Kim slumped. "I .. I took something from Atlantis. I wasn't thinking. I know I messed up and I was trying to fix things. I asked Dr Lawrence for help. It wasn't something he could deal with. I was going to ask you to help me take it back..." Her eyes started to tear up and she grit her teeth and wiped the burning liquid away even as her eyes reddened. "Its gone though. I was so tired. I fell asleep here. Before I did I remember babbling something and now its gone.." Melvin would kill her, everyone would when they knew what she had done. "I want to take it back. I want to fix this. I don't know who else to ask. I don't KNOW anyone else." There it all was, for better or I'll. Someone knew all of her sin.

He stared at her a long moment before he breathed out slowly. "I already heard on Twitter about the item you stole. I already have a very long lecture written up about it, but my brain isn't with me right now and all my key bullet-points are at home. For now, I'm just going to say that stealing makes you come off as an untrustworthy and selfish person, and I wouldn't feel comfortable having in you Atlantis unattended anymore. But that's for another time off this island."
"You shouldn't be here in the first place, let alone by yourself. This place isn't for us, and it is probably going to make you sick. It's not a napping spot. You probably just dropped the artifact somewhere around here by mistake when you went to sleep. Let's go trace your steps." He gestured for Kim to leave the way. Right now he didn't have it in him to lecture an already near-crying girl about stealing and he wanted to find the item and get her and himself back to people that cared.

Kim bowed her head in clear shame. She knew no one would trust her. She had read the comments left. Maybe had even lessened her lesson. As she rubbed her eyes again she heard a sound from Chinthliss like amazement. you are capable of feeling remorse? That hurt more than anything else. It was like he had poisoned her. The last of the happiness in her popped as she realized even her bonded didn't trust her. Like a zombie she led the way, in mostly silence she showed her path up to the tree, and the indentation where she had rested. "Every time I tried to sleep I would end up walking into the water. This time I didn't. Maybe I dropped it back in the water and it went home." There was little emotion in her voice now and Chinthliss did not regret his words. You dissapoint me

"If that is the case and you are released from the effects then all you will need to do is appologize to Sophie. If not then we will need to look for it or even dive for it to get it back. I'm not physically able to right now. I have someone I care about in the Infirmary but we can look for it tommorrow. For your sake lets hope everything is fine. I dont think it's good to be around this island at all and you shouldn't be here, let alone sleeping here. You could have drowned. Here. I found a inflatable raft and a life vest in with some of the Sun gear so that should get you across. Just make sure my stuff doesnt get wet."
He offered to help Kim to the shore.

Kim nodded still a bit sad, but at least willing to head hope and hope all was right. She made sure not to wet any of Melvin's things and when back on shore again, apologized for making him go out there when he had better things to do.
With all she could do done, she headed back to her room, or rather Terry's room, her stomache still churning with nerves.
Maybe it is all done with... Maybe.
