Gold Zenobiath
Written by Fated Fable
Colored by Celeanor

User Image

Origin of Name: The inspiration for the name Zenobiath comes from the ancient queen of Palmyra. Septimia Zenobia claimed to be a descendant of Cleopatra, and when her husband the king passed away she took on the mantle of queen regent. Under her leadership her people were said to have conquered Egypt. Queen Zenobia declared herself an Empress, standing in stead for her son, and made an unsuccessful attempt to secede from Rome. Although she was taken prisoner, her punishment was not of death but exile. Her exploits are of legend in Syria, where she is considered a hero to this day.

User Image

Inspiration: The Empress Tarot Card is the third card in the Major Arcana. Along with the High Priestess, the Empress card represents the feminine divine, in this case the archetype of the Mother. In this most important role, she balances masculine and feminine, symbolizing fertility and creative growth. She draws her influence from Venus, signifying beauty, happiness, abundance, and success.

Personality: In her heart of hearts, everyone wants to be taken care of-- and Zenobiath knows just how to do it. She is the quintessential mother, a true queen of queens who believes in the concept of noblesse oblige. Or rather, that those with great power have an obligation to look after those who look to them. Those who stand against Zenobiath will be handled with all of the grace of a great lady in her own home, a matriarch who uses shame rather than simple brute force to get her way. Those who harm her rider or anyone that she cares for will discover that they have gotten between a mother bear and her cubs, and face her wrath.

Rather than facing them head on, she will cut them to ribbons with the edge of her tongue, "oh bless your heart." In general she is a fairly genteel lady who simply wants to be given the courtesy she feels that she deserves. Every color of dragon has their place in the world, and there's nothing to be ashamed of in enjoying one's role. Those who rail against the natural order of things will find an uphill battle in her native High Reaches, and it's no wonder. If they would just recognize the value of their contribution to the Weyr and society they would be content.

At the end of the day, Zenobiath is not out to advance herself. If anything, she is most interested in seeing to it that her rider rises through the ranks or achieves real success in whatever they choose to do. She, after all, is a Gold dragon, and as such she's already at the pinnacle of success, to her view. She can be a little vain at times, for who could help her? She considers herself to be descended from a great lineage, and no one could convince her otherwise.

Positive Traits: Strong willed, nurturing, quick witted
Negative Traits: Vain, stubborn, classist

Adult Size: 47'
Physical Attributes: She is a larger sized gold, though she has delicate features. She holds herself with a regal carriage. She's an elegant creature, though her tail is a bit long and lithe.

Additional Notes: This gold is very maternal and will be absolutely thrilled to have a clutch all her own. This motherly nature will extend to other golds' clutches as well. She also appreciates being pampered. While fond of most of her siblings in the egg, she had an especially close bond to Aresoth, and loathed Elzebuth. She can have a tendency to hold grudges, to remember those who have slighted her in the past, or who have crossed her friends and family. This is the main reason why she disliked Elzebuth, for example, as he went out of his way to harass Aresoth, and hurt Monath's feelings. Zenobiath has a higher chance of clutching twins!

Theme Song: Run the World by Beyoncé

Why Me? From the very first Alumet has been Zenobiath's perfect match. As a pair they will be the best of friends, as thick as thieves in their encounters in the Weyr. The Gold admires Alumet's flamboyant grace, and wishes to be just as fabulous as she. Alumet's confidence suits Zenobiath perfectly, and her tendency to be protective of those around her mirrors the dragon's own. Alumet simply was Zenobiath's rider from the start. When other girls scolded the egg or offered cold comfort, Alumet distracted her with gossip and empathized with her perspective. Although the Gold does not need a yes man, she does appreciate someone who understands her.

Bronze Aresoth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name:
The Emperor card is often associated with the planet Mars. This planet was named after the Roman god, who was associated with the greek god, Ares. While the god Mars was considered more of a fatherly figure, Ares was known as the god of the war.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Inspiration: The Emperor Tarot Card is the fourth card of the Major Arcana. It is considered the opposite of the Empress card, and encompasses power, authority, control, and protection. It is often associated with the planet Mars, and Aries the god of War.

Personality:
Aresoth is, perhaps, the most stereotypical bronze dragon High Reaches Weyr has seen in Turns. This particular dragon knows that he is king, or at least, of great importance to his clutchmates, as well as all Pern. From the moment he hatched, Aresoth has always been fearless. He's is confident without becoming arrogant, and is incredibly blunt. He has no time for games, and is known to be direct and straight to the point in his conversations. This can come across as tactless, but he sees no reason to sugar coat the truth. Aresoth will call a spade a spade, and while it can come off as abrupt,or might wound feelings, he will never intentionally wound someone with his words.

Aresoth is naturally a good leader and a good dragon. He will be the first to volunteer for a task, no matter how his rider feels, and will defend his clutchmates, wingmates, and his Weyr to the death. He is paternal to those beneath him, knowing well his responsibility to care for them. His clutchsibs and blues and green dragons in particular, if not outwardly against him, will find a supportive and encouraging bronze. Just because they're the rabble doesn't mean he has to be rude.

Very little surprises this bronze; he makes it his business to know everybody else's business. Not because he's a gossip --hardly!-- but because he wants to be prepared for every possible situation. So the bronze will forever be alert. He will listen to the lessons given to his rider, he will listen to the concerns of his clutchmates, and he will be the first to object to any order given him that doesn't make sense.

While Aresoth won't blindly listen to a superior, he does understand the chain of command. While he knows he as the very bottom most rung as a Hatchling, he certainly has the drive and desire and cleverness to make something of his life. Aresoth has no intentions on staying at the bottom -- he will do everything in his power to rise up. When Aresoth puts his mind to do something, he will stop at nothing to complete it.

Unfortunately, this bronze has a few bad habits. He can be demanding of his rider, as well as his clutchmates. If he can do something, then they surely they can too. Furthermore, he has an expectation that he should be obeyed. He is a bronze, he is a born leader -- when he gives commands, he expects those beneath him to listen.

If Aresoth isn't careful, his orders and demands can give way to a need for control. Aresoth likes to be in control. He believes in himself, an doesn't always trust others to do the right thing. So it stands, this bronze must be careful to avoid trying to control his fellow cluchmates or future wingriders. The more power he's given, the more he'll find reason to use it. He will tighten his grip on others when he feels they're pulling back.

Challenging Aresoth, especially when he feels like he's losing control, can cause for the bronze to turn aggressive. This is a rare side of the creature, but when push comes to shove, Aresoth will bare his fangs, and use his brute strength to get his way. He will not hesiate to throw his weigh, and the power of his shiny hide, around to get his way. He doesn't think he's being unreasonable; so long as those beneath his care know that he will think in their best interests, and obey, there is no reason for any fuss or fight.

His rider will need to keep this side of Aresoth in check, lest the bronze walk the line of protagonist to antagonist.

Positive Traits: Alert, Brave, Energetic, Direct, Lawful
Negative Traits: Aggressive, Controlling, Demanding
Adult Size: 45'
Physical Attributes: Aresoth is big. Very big. He is big as a hatchling and will continue to be large as he grows. He's well proportioned but very muscular. This makes him slow in the air and in flight. He's essentially a tank -- twisting, turning, and speed are difficult for him to obtain, but he can take damage, and he can stay in flight for long periods of time. Aresoth's size can cause joint problems as he ages. He will always, always, always prefer to fall from some height or ledge to take flight, whenever possible, as opposed to leaping from the ground. When he does so, it's always a clunky, and graceless maneuver.

Additional Notes: Aresoth heavily prefers to chase golds and isn't often willing to make permanent attachment. Why shouldn't all women be his? Should he bother chasing a green, she should understand it's an great honor, and if he doesn't win (no matter the color) his rider will find one very cross bronze.

He did have a close bond with Zenobiath while in the egg, and despises Elzebuth.

Theme Song: Princes of the Universe, by Queen

Why Me?
Caderyn was a natural fit for Aresoth -- the boy has the desire to achieve greatness, and he can do so with Aresoth as his wings. This bronze admires Caderyn's desire to rise through the ranks, and has every intention of making sure they go straight to the top. The bronze knows that together, they could very well run the Weyr, and has plans on doing what he can to make his way to the top. Unlike with others, Caderyn needn't hide his feelings, or his goodness, from Aresoth. This bronze is a good bronze, at the end of the day, and would not have chosen Caderyn if he did not appreciate his kind heart, and quiet caring nature. There is no shame in being good or doing the right thing, and both rider and dragon can keep one another accountable when their ugly sides start to show. Caderyn can temper Aresoth's aggression and controlling nature when things don't go his way, while Aresoth can keep his rider from becoming too ruthless or callous of those around him.

Brown Elzebuth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: Elzebuth gets his name directly from the name, Beelzebub. This is originally the name of a Philistine god. Specifically, it is a type of Baal, from Ba'al Zebub, literally, "Lord of the Flies". It is also used in the New Testament as a synonym for Satan.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Inspiration: Elzebuth is based off The Devil tarot card which is number 15 of the Major Arcana. This card is often misunderstood, and it is thought that instead of being based off Satan, it is more inspired by Pan or Bacchus. These are more gods of abandon and pleasure, than the evil of Satan.

Personality:
Elzebuth is a handful, and Faranth help his rider. This dragon is trouble, and will need a strong hand to keep him in line. The first thing someone notices about this brown is the power that radiates from him. It isn't just his physically imposing size. No. This brown is powerful of body and mind. Confidence seems to ooze out of his very being, and others will take notice. He is no doubt a leader, and where his rider might hesitate to act, Elzebuth won't. He is a dragon who knows what he wants, when he wants it, and Faranth try to keep him from it. Honestly, he is the sort of dragon that would stare down a gold and try to disregard her commands. It wouldn't work, but that doesn't keep the brown from trying. His rider will absolutely have to try to keep Elzebuth in line, lest he disregard direction of those higher up.

Elzebuth is both fearless and stubborn. There is little he fears, and he will encourage his rider to be fearless everyday. The world is their oyster, and they should have everything they desire. He will not shirk from a fight, nor will he be afraid of the consequences from his actions. Elzebuth will do what he wants, when he wants. The only creature on Pern that he will listen to readily will be that of his rider, and even then, he might try to convince them of his master plans. Elzebuth is also relentless in his pursuits. If he wants something, he will become obsessive, and not give in until it is his. This can be great when it is focused properly, such as fighting Thread, or mastering a tricky maneuver during a wing drill. But it can be used for trouble, such as trying to catch the eye of a particular green, or wanting something that clearly isn't his to have.

And Elzebuth will often covet things he cannot have. This dragon has a covetous gaze. Why shouldn't he have what someone else gets? He can get envious of others, as his drive is often a sense of hedonism and pleasure. This brown will try to steal others mates if he likes them; he will try to rise up in rank to leadership positions; he will step into the limelight given any opportunity. He wants it all, and wants his rider to have it all, too.

Unfortunately, Elzebuth's power can make him controlling. He thinks of himself as the boss, in any situation, and will not yield up control if he believes he knows best. Those who are most precious to Elzebuth suddenly might find the brown charming them to do as he wishes. His rider will need to be strong to keep the brown's control in check. He doesn't command out of cruelty, but out of a belief that he truly knows best.

Elzebuth is a bit of an enabler which can often lead to trouble. Why be afraid of consequence when they can take what they want, and do what they desire? Why not give in to their carnal pleasure and desires? Why not pick me to fly you instead of your mate? Why not skip this class and spend time near the lake with me? Elzebuth will do what he can to encourage others to be their happiest, even at their own detriment. Not because he wants to hurt them, but because he believes others should feel good.

On thing to note is that Elzebuth is not necessarily a beast, or wicked creature. He just believes, with his heart of hearts, that he, above all else, knows best.

Positive Traits: Relentless, Powerful, Fearless
Negative Traits: Enabling, Covetous, Controlling
Adult Size: 41'
Physical Attributes: Elzebuth is a large brown! He is built like a brick, with large wings, and is very muscled. He is strong, no doubt, and physically imposing. His large size tends to make him less agile and more clunky than his smaller clutchsibs.

Additional Notes: Elzebuth will love to chase. He is all about carnal pleasure and desire, and any green or gold will find a willing brown every time. Unfortunately, he's not known to make healthy long-term attachments. He will either chase them off if they are of no longer any use to him, or, if he really likes them, he may try to control them and keep them to himself.

Theme Song: N.I.B. by Black Sabbath

Why Me?
Elzebuth was drawn to Goran immediately, despite their differences. The brown dragon is no fool-- he knows that Goran will be a challenge and the two are likely to be at odds from time to time. Perhaps that's what makes this particular relationship work -- Elzebuth could never really respect someone who folded so easily to his every whim. Goran is a challenge, and he likes that. He is a dragon that wants what he can't have, and he nearly lost Goran from the start. Now that he has him, he will never let him go. He might be a fearless dragon, but losing Goran, or never having his love returned by him IS his greatest fear. Ultimately there are things both rider and dragon can gain by working together. Goran might be the only man on Pern to have the strength to temper Elzebuth's forceful nature and commanding air. He's also wary enough to ensure the brown doesn't drag both of them into trouble. Additionally, the goodness that lies within Goran's heart might yet rub off on the brown. For his part, Elzebuth will give Goran never-ending support, power, and encouragement, and his secrets will always be kept safe. Goran can trust in Elzebuth wholly and for always, even if others cannot. He need not keep him out, for he will break down every barrier that stands between them -- physically and emotionally. The purist thing about this brown is his undying love for Goran, which he will actively display. Goran is the one man Elzebuth will yield to, the one man Elzebuth truly respect,, perhaps the one creature on Pern Elzebuth truly loves. Elzebuth is not an entirely bad brown -- but like Goran he keeps his tender sides hidden and reserved for few. He chose Goran because together they can and will do great things.

Brown Menankith
Written by Fated Fable
Colored by Celeanor

User Image

Origin of Name: Menankith derives his name from the Mesopotamian ziggurat Etemenanki, which has been associated with the mythological tower of Babel. Alexander destroyed Etemenanki with the intention to rebuild it, but those plans did not come to fruition due to his untimely demise.

User Image

Inspiration: The Tower is the 22nd Major Arcana card, and is associated with the planet Mars. Those who draw the Tower are often fearful of its portents, and they should be wary, for drawing the Tower signifies an abrupt upheaval in your life and expectations. Although this card is often viewed in a negative light, it can provide critical information that can aid the reader by removing the veil of false security, allowing them to see the world for what it truly is, rather than what they wish to believe it to be.

Personality: One would think that Menankith had been forged in the fires of adversity for all of the personal flame and fervor that he possesses. He believes himself to be the equal of any Bronze, and is outraged by the arrogance displayed by many in the Weyr. Their echo chamber of self-congratulatory speech is a bubble that perpetuates an unjust system. This house of cards is unsustainable without the propaganda that they feed to hatchlings and Candidates alike. In reality, High Reaches Weyr are their own victims, taught as they teach others in a pattern of self-fulfilling prophecy. Until they can unchain themselves from this false dogma, they will doomed to repeat the mistakes of their forbearers.

On a personal level Menankith cannot stand the sort of self-deception that most people practice. He will do everything he can to ensure that his truth is spoken, that those around him are held to the standards that he, of course, sets. With all of the power of a bolt of lightning, the truth can set you free. Believing otherwise is only ultimately harmful and does not make for engagement in the world. While he is aware that he could move to Western Weyr and live happily there, unless his rider chooses to transfer he will likely find it very important to stick it out where he is. After all, a single pebble can make ripples across a lake. Perhaps his presence will help some of his brethren, and in his very fustian way he does want to be helpful.

Although difficult to approach he does not actually mean any harm. He just hasn't yet learned to use tact when dealing with others, and his patience is already strained by the goings on that he has observed. In his heart of hearts he is the every man, and he wants very badly to be a part of the world around him. With the right rider it is possible that he will be able to temper the sharpest edges, lending him a little more in the way of social acumen. He will never be so adroit as some who are happy to tell white lies in order to smooth things out. He is a deeply loyal beast, and although his friendship may be difficult to obtain, once it has been he will tear the world apart to keep his loved ones safe.

As observed in the Touching, Menankith has a truly kind heart, and deep reserves of strength. He gives freely of himself, knowing that the strength of a Weyr is in the group, not just the individual alone. He desires nothing more than to help bring others up from the ruts they've been cast into, to raise up those who have been quashed. He does not believe in the system, but rather in the people. Although he has observed goodness across every strata of society, he has found that those who need him comprise the lower rungs, and it is there that his attention has been fixed. He will follow his own star until it burns out, and even then he will fly blindly where it once led. If only he could find a way to convince the world that he is right, that no one should be shackled by tradition, if that tradition does not serve all equally.

Positive Traits: Loyal, intelligent, just
Negative Traits: Unrelenting, bitter, jaded

Adult Size: 35
Physical Attributes: Menankith is average in every way... physically, at least. He is far above average mentally-- this dragon is definitely a thinker, and he eschews systems of valuation in which being the largest or the strongest matters most.

Additional Notes: He likes women, and he also likes to see oppressed parties turning the tables on their oppressors. He has a secret fondness for beautiful things such as jewelry and fancy riding tack.

Theme Song: Defying Gravity, by Stephen Schwartz and originally performed by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.

Why Me? When Menankith looked inside of Nadry's heart, he saw a young woman bound by her family's expectations. A young woman who truly believed that she could not be a rider, could not be a hero, for that was not what women do. But that is exactly what women do. And with Menankith's help, Nadry has every bit the potential to become anything she sets her mind to. His desire to break down imposed barriers is implacable, and if Nadry lets him he'll take her far. He is someone that she can trust implicitly, someone who will never betray her. He can be her best friend, and her greatest advocate. Perhaps Nadry, with her command of rules and etiquette, can teach Menankith how to present himself so that others will understand his good intentions.

Brown Kratoth
Written by Fated Fable
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: Kratoth comes from Kratos, the ancient Greek god of Strength. The son of the titan Pallas, and the goddess Styx. He was strength personified, and played a key role, along with his siblings, in bringing Prometheus before Hephaestus to be bound. He acted on behalf of Zeus, whom his own mother Styx had sided with in time immemorial, hunting down the thief of fire. Along with his siblings Bia, Zelus, and Nike, he fought beside Zeus to defend Olympus from the god of monsters, Typhon, when all other gods fled.

User Image

Inspiration: The Strength Tarot card is either the 8th or the 11th trump card in the Major Arcana. As the card is linked with the sign Leo, the number eight can be linked to it, though its traditional location is number eleven. It is a card of valor, perseverance, and a hidden gentleness. Although the great lion can be a fierce warrior, he can also be a tender father. Additionally, the imagery of the woman communing with the beast suggests that the approach of the card need not be physical alone, but rather one of deep inner strength.

Personality: From the very first, Kratoth will radiate with profound strength but also with a deep reservoir of compassion and understanding. This dragon is not one to be trifled with, although he is for the most part a gentle giant. One need look no further than those of his clutch that most need safety and comfort to know where this dragon developed his patient and protective nature. No matter how the wind howls, the mountain will never bow to it. And so, too, Kratoth will never be won by the likes of one akin to his brother Elzebuth. He is a force to be reckoned, although his path will be that of the warrior monk who awaits the correct time in which to act. Like all great heroes, he knows the lay of the land, and he knows the proper timing of his blows.

It is in this manner that he would rise to achieve more than could ever be expected of a High Reaches Brown. He is patient enough to wait for opportune moment, and kind enough to choose that moment with wisdom, and do no harm in its taking. It is not through great acts of valor that the day is won, but through the inner battle with one's own self. To become the dragon that he wishes to be, he will need to know himself to his fullest extent, and carefully work away at those flaws which stand in his way. He above all knows that he could be his own worst enemy, and so he shall chip away at the worst of his impulses until he deems himself ready for battle.

Unfortunately, he also possesses a tendency toward stubbornness, and pride as well. He can be overwhelming in the wrong circumstances, no matter how well meaning he may be. Like Menankith, he has a destiny to attend to, and he does not dare to turn away from it, even if it means going against what is commonly viewed to be the proper way of things. He does respect authority that is well earned, but he does not view hereditary leadership in a positive light when the individual in question is no leader themselves. If they have not earned his respect, he will not give it. But if it is proven to him that they are truly in their rightful place, he can recognize that as legitimate. He is much more inclined, however, to respect someone who has gone against the odds to become a leader when the world did not deliver it to them on a platter.

Leadership, after all, is not found in the color of one's hide, or on the crown upon one's head. It is found in those day to day moments, the little decisions that have far reaching effects. Kratoth will lay down his life for someone who shows those qualities, but he himself may rise to such heights if paired with the right rider. He does have ambitions for himself, although he is a good lieutenant, provided that the captain is just. He has deep respect for those who protect those who look to them, and a love for those who need looking after. He is a wise, self-aware dragon who sometimes pushes too far and too hard. His own limitations are his greatest blind spot, for he doesn't quite understand that there are sheer physical differences between himself and Bronze dragons.

Positive Traits: Compassionate, Indomitable, Patient
Negative Traits: Stubborn, Assertive, Unrealistic

Adult Size: 38'
Physical Attributes: Although not the largest of Browns from nose to tail, Kratoth possesses a physical strength that is beyond that of the average Brown. He has stamina that is close to that of a Bronze rather than is common for a Brown. However, that does mean that he's less nimble than some of his brethren. He has a tendency to be boxy, with a well muscled frame.

Additional Notes: He has ambitions, and is not afraid to Chase Gold dragons. This may cause trouble for his rider in the future, but it can't be helped. He will be a most courtly suitor, however, carefully choosing his words for the lady in question.

Theme Song: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk

Why Me? Kraroth admires Lenix's loyalty to Karone, although he is not certain that the other has yet earned that devotion. He sees potential in Lenix to become the heir that he could have been, if only he had been acknowledged from the first. While Lenix has a tendency to be complacent, Kratoth is full of drive and means for them to go far. If Lenix is waiting for a catalyst, this Brown is that very being. He means to take them both places, if only his rider will aid him in that quest-- and he is patient enough to wait until he's become the man he's meant to be.

Blue Eleusith
Written by Masterharper
Colored by Tanakako

User Image

Origin of Name: According to Antoine Court de Gébelin, heirophant is the title of the chief priest in the Eleusinian Mysteries. These rites were yearly initiations into the cult of Demeter and Persephone. A hierophant is an interpreter of sacred mysteries and arcane principles.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Inspiration: Eleusith is based on the tarot card, the Hierophant. This card is the fifth Major Arcana in a tarot deck. Often this card is thought to be a bridge between heaven and earth, and is traditionally always depicted as male. In many decks this card is based on the Pope or the High Priest, and is known as the teacher of wisdom.

Personality:
Eleusith is a very calm and peaceful dragon, one that might border on lazy. This particular blue seems to exude positive energy, and is known to have a calming influence on his clutchmates. Peace and goodness is what makes up Eleusith. If one of his siblings is angry, Eleusith will try to calm them with logic and assurance; if one of his clutchmates is distressed with pain or grief, this blue will not hesitate to offer assurance.

There is something wise within the blue dragon. Even in his youth he seems to possess wisdom well beyond his Turns. He will not hesitate to offer an anecdote to relate with one of his clutchsibs or trying to persuade others to see his view of things. He is always willing to give advice on how to remedy a situation, though sometimes he does so even when his advice is unwanted. Eleusith seems to see the world as a glass half full. He can always find the silver lining, or the rainbow after the storm. He believes in the best of others. Furthermore, sometimes his wisdom comes in the form of silly jokes and puns. He's a little bit corny with his humor, and will always laugh at his own jokes, even if no one appreciates them.

Unfortunately, Eleusith also believes in tradition. He is a firm believer that everything has its place, and that traditions are traditions because they work. He believes in rules, and doesn't always do well with new ideas or thinking outside the box. He does well in High Reaches because he believes, without a doubt, in the traditions of the Weyr. He is a blue. He understands his place, his role, and he doesn't object to it. Golds, bronze, browns, blues, greens, and even whites, all have their designated place in the world. None is better than the next, but their roles are not the same. A gold could no more do what a green does, than a blue a bronze.

When things do change or upset his routine, Eleusith can get a bit grumpy. He doesn't like newfangled ideas, especially if they put him or his rider at risk. This blue definitely prefers the comfort of routine and traditions.

Eleusith is sometimes considered a bit stodgy. He's not the most clever blue, despite having great amounts of wisdom. Nor is he the most interesting. He doesn't seem to know when to quit, and some of his anecdotes can grow repetitive, or tedious, should he speak a topic to death. Given the blue doesn't always like change, his stories and conversation can become old, or out of date, quickly. By the time he graduates, many of his cluchmates will likely have his stories and catch phrases memorized.

Positive Traits Peaceful, Wise, Hopeful, Good
Negitive Traits Traditionalist, Fearful of Change, Stodgy

Adult Size: 25'
Physical Attributes: Eleusith is a small blue, though by no means exceptionally petite. He could be considered more elegant than burly. He has long wings, a long neck, and a long tail. While this makes him somewhat spindly when on the ground, there is something lovely and graceful when he takes flight.

Additional Notes: He tends not to chase greens unless he knows them, or is smitten with them. He will never chase a gold -- and rather tuts and clucks his tongue at those silly blues and browns who do. He's also tends to disapprove of browns flying queens. Eleusith will be cordial, but likely give browns -- and even some blues-- with female riders the side-eye at their taste.

Theme Song: Tradition, from Fiddler on the Roof, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, music by Jerry Bock

Why Me?
Rhey has nothing to be afraid of, not with his Eleusith near. This blue dragon believes in him, and that's what's important. Who needs friends when they have each other? Eleusith will be a supportive and positive presence in Rhey's life, and do his best to soothe his anxieties and fears. All is well, and this blue dragon will do everything he can to make it so for his rider. Additionally, this blue absolutely prefers Rhey's preference for being a follower. He will enable that sort of thinking, not because his rider is incapable of leadership, but because there is no shame in taking orders, or completing them. If everyone in the Weyr was a leader or delegator of tasks, then nothing would ever get done! They are blue riders of High Reaches Weyr -- their place is secure, and together they will be the best wingriders they can be! Rhey needn't be brave -- Eleusith will be there to support him, through Threadfall and beyond.

Blue Basanuth
Written by Fated Fable
Colored by Tanakako

User Image

Origin of Name: Basanuth takes its origin from a Turkish name for the god Anubis, who in turn was called by his worshipers Anpu. Anubis, who guarded the souls of the dead, weighed their hearts against a feather. This was the ultimate judgement, and decided their fates everlasting. If their hearts were heavier than a feather then they could not enter into the realm of the dead.

User Image

Inspiration: The Judgement Tarot Card, the 20th card in the Major Arcana. Judgement is ruled by Pluto.

Personality: This dragon knows what he wants and is dead certain that he's going to be able to obtain it. He does not shirk when faced with hard work, and even when he's hitting a wall he will keep throwing himself at it to batter it down. While that can be a wonderful trait in the right circumstances, it can also present problems, such as when he doesn't realize that he's getting himself nowhere doing something that is not worth his time and effort. He does have immense strength of conviction, and that is not to be taken lightly. He is a dogged creature who is in danger of becoming a workaholic if not checked by his rider.

That tendency to work himself to the bone translates into a strong determination to climb to the absolute height of his potential. He absolutely expects his rider to do exactly the same. When anyone falls short of his high expectations he finds himself lacking perhaps the proper amount of sympathy. However, he is full of all sorts of ideas for how they might better strive. In his personal life his can be brash, quick to make decisions that may hurt his chances later on, or limit the friendships that he can comfortably maintain. Although nothing will keep him from trying to achieve his goals, and he believes wholeheartedly that he can reach that peak, he is easily discouraged by setbacks that he feels are unfair. Roadblocks to his success are just not something that he understands or accepts.

He has high ideals, but he falls prey to the expectation that reality should rearrange itself to suit him. When it does not, he's deeply astonished, alarmed that anyone could possibly hold with such antiquated notions. Why would metallic dragons have any innate ability to decide what is right and what is wrong? He thinks that it is deeply unfair that only Gold riders are given leadership training. His rider should have that! Why shouldn't they be taught the same things? Isn't leadership important in every walk of life? He gets stuck on the concept of fairness. "But Mine, it's not fair!" Unfortunately, life isn't fair, but good luck convincing Basanuth that it shouldn't be.

Positive Traits: Virtuous, Hopeful, Inspired
Negative Traits: Impulsive, Judgmental, Absolute

Adult Size: 27'
Physical Attributes: Basanuth is a powerhouse of a Blue dragon that will one day grow to be quite well built, if not precisely oversized. He has a long, proud neck, and broad shoulders with an accompanying large wingspan.

Additional Notes: He is likely to be very competitive in Flights, and has much more interest in them as a measurement for his own success than for the female companionship that winning might gain him. He shares many traits with his brother Menankith, and has a certain fondness for the Brown. They're brothers, as well as brothers in arms.

Theme Song: All I Ever Wanted sung by Amick Byram and written by Stephen Schwartz.

Why Me? Of all of the Candidates, Riagan stood out to Basanuth as the one whose ideals most closely matched his own. He believes in breaking the shackles of tradition, and letting merit, not color, decide who leads. Basanuth finds a quintessential unfairness in the ways of High Reaches Weyr, and he looks to Riagan to help him right the wrong that he sees everywhere. Although the Blue does not quite fully understand Riagan's tendency to tease, he will find it a welcome change from his own intent, near obsessive, focus. As rider and dragon they can fight the good fight, and, with any luck, make some progress.

Blue Aurinkoth
Written by Masterharper
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: The blue has derived its name from the Finnish word Aurinko, which means Sun.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Inspiration: This dragon is based on the 19th card of the Major Arcana, the Sun. It is often thought as the most positive card in the deck and rarely is negative.

Personality: Aurinkoth is, perhaps, the happiest dragon on Pern. This blue dragon absolutely radiates positive energy, and seems to always be in some sort of good mood. He puts his best-face forward and wants nothing more than happiness to reign. If someone seems down or glum, Aurinkoth will be the first to try to cheer them up, and you can be he knows how to be persistent in his efforts. In fact, sometimes this blue comes off as too persistent, and can be over-bearing. He will not necessarily understand that there are some problems that can't be smiled away; he will not easily accept that a situation might very well be hopeless, and that sometimes happily-ever-afters don't occur. Aurinkoth can't accept that a situation is impossible, and unless his rider learns to keep him in check, he might very well aggravate or offend someone by making light of their troubles.

Aurinkoth is a very playful dragon. He loves games, and delights in having fun with his clutchmates, his rider, other dragons, and even other people within the Weyr. Unlike some dragons who might be more reserved or aloof, Aurinkoth has no problem approaching strangers and entreating them to play. He's a blue who just wants to have fun, and knows games are a fun way in which to spread cheer. To those who lose his games, Aurinkoth is the sort to take them under his wing, and tell them how good they were anyway, to take away the sting of the loss. Nobody is ever a loser in games with Aurinkoth!

Aurinkoth is difficult to bring down from his eternal high of happiness, but even he has the odd mood now and then. If he's rebuked particularly harshly, or if his rider gets him to understand that a situation is truly hopeless, then the blue is known to sulk or fall into a depression. It is rare, but when it does happen, or if he is that distressed over a situations outcome, he will fall into a funk hard. He can be sensitive to those who dash his joy, and might be more prone to others judgment of him as an adult. Thankfully, these moods are rare, and in his usual fashion, with the right kind words, often returns to his cheerful self soon after.

Positive Traits: Playful, Reassuring, Happy
Negative Traits: Sensitive, Unrealistic, Overbearing

Adult Size: 26'
Physical Attributes: Aurinkoth is average size for a blue, if a touch on the smaller side. He's average in length, muscle mass, and speed. His flame is exceptionally long, which is something he takes great pride in. He also will be quite sensitive to Searches as an adult.

Additional Notes: Aurinkoth has a perverse fondness for fruit. He's the sort of blue who loves to chase greens, but will likely struggle to catch them because he'll be so wrapped up in the fun of the chase. All the weaving, rolling, and diving that happens will distract him from the goal. To make matters worse, he also likes to see others win, much to the frustration of any green that takes a fancy to him.

He was particularly close to Cynosuth and enjoys playing with Lemath.

Theme Song: Happy by Pharrell Williams

Why Me?
Most precious Ichta, there is nothing to fear with Aurinkoth. The blue dragon saw both a playmate and a soulmate within the the girl, and he wants nothing more than to help draw her -- carefully, mind -- out of her shell. He enjoys the fact that she is quite an avid listener, and Aurinkoth will have no problems telling Ichta all about his shenanigans. While he will try hard to get Ichta to play with him, he will also happily give her space if he feels she needs it. Aurinkoth is ever a ray of sunlight and support to all in the Weyr, but he will always give most to his rider. He will happily guard her against anything that might spook her, and will always make sure his games with her are gentle, and not overly startling or rough. Where Ichta is quiet, Aurinkoth is more outgoing than reserved. He loves her so dearly, and wants nothing but her happiness. Her quiet nature will keep Aurinkoth from becoming too much of a pest, and he will ease all of Ichta's fear with endless reassurance. Her hardworking nature will keep Aurinkoth responsible, but his playful nature will keep her from forgetting that life is still meant to be enjoyed.

Blue Begath
Written by ShinosBee
Colored by Andranis

User Image

Origin of Name: In French Le Bateleur, "the mountebank" or the "sleight of hand artist", is a practitioner of stage magic. The Italian tradition calls him Il Bagatto or Il Bagatello, and he is also known as Bégato in some regions.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Inspiration: Begath is based off of the Magician from the major arcana, which is the first card of the deck. In terms of the tarot card game, the Magician is the lowest ranking trump card, but still worth a large number of points—and it can be used as a wild card to fill out larger combinations! Add to that that in some regions, playing the Magician as the final trick awards even more points, and well...just because it's the lowest trump doesn't mean that it's the least of anything!

The Magician itself was actually originally a street performer, a master of sleight of hand, and an artisan, though the symbolism developed to point to more mystical meanings later. In different versions of the card the Magician has an infinity symbol over his head, and in others his hat's brim takes the same shape. He holds the staff, or wand, and signs of the other suits (cups, coins, and swords) are also present. Eternity, a wealth of tools, and flowers to show the manifestation of desires—the Magician is a card that knows what it wants and works to make it happen with the tools it has.

Personality: Begath knows what he's doing. He has more confidence and ambition than some bronzes, and huge dreams for the future for himself and his rider. Add to that that he's clever even as a youngster, and naturally skilled at almost anything he puts his mind too, and look out! He's flexible enough to think on the fly and to change tactics when what he's doing isn't working, and sometimes all his rider will be able to do is hang on for the ride.

But sometimes when you fly too close to the sun, you burn off your wings. The downside of a lightning-quick mind and a huge imagination is that sometimes he bites off more than he can chew. Plans can easily spiral out of control and go from detailed to overly intricate and bogged down with too many parts to possibly pull off. With such a high opinion of himself this can lead to him crashing and burning when he refuses to give up on these overdone dreams, or even trying to lie about it and hide that things have gone or are going terribly wrong, so his rider will have to be particularly on guard to keep him either from getting in too deep or to help pull him back out of trouble again.

And sometimes he never manages to get started on his ideas either. Imagining all the great things that he's sure will happen if he does this or that paints such a tantalizing picture...Once he gets going he can't be stopped, but now and then he might need a little nudge to be reminded to get off the starting line too.

Positive Traits: Confident, adroit, creative.
Negative Traits: Superfluous, duplicitous, overly fanciful to the point of self-sabotage.

Adult Size: 28'
Physical Attributes: Begath is a long, sleek dragon, almost serpentine in build. His slender structure makes him seem longer than he is, and his lengthy legs gives him a smooth, almost gliding gait on land. His wings lack some of the depth of others, but are similarly long for his size. His neck ridges are markedly small and somewhat unpronounced, which adds to his streamlined look, but at the cost of making it somewhat more difficult to get his riding straps to stay fixed in place.

Additional Notes: Begath is a showoff in flights when he opts to chase. Naturally swift and agile, he likes to add twirls and flair to his maneuvers, and depending on the lady in question it can win or lose him the flight. With his great imagination he can easily picture himself 'with' any dragon, and his rider with any other person in the weyr, which does make him seem fickle in love (and a handful for his rider, who is apt to be match-made for!) and unapologetic for leaving a green he's just caught the day before to go after another.

Theme Song: Lucky Day by Hunter Hunted.

Why Me? Begath has no compunction against spinning the truth to suit himself, and that's something that Jynnat will join him in. They also share a profound desire to rise to the top. As Begath chases his dreams and flies higher and higher, Jynnat can meet him beat for beat. Her calculating, charming ways fit his own like a glove. There could never be anyone for Begath but her, for she is as limitless as he. He has a deep enjoyment of her unabashed intelligence. She stood out like a bright, shining beacon amid the Candidates, and he's ever so pleased to have gotten one over on his siblings in Impressing to her. Naturally she ought to feel more than honored for the privilege of being his rider. He needs her help making those dreams become a reality.

Blue Macuith
Written by Fated Fable
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Macuith is derived from the god Aztec god Xochipilli, who is also referred to as Macuilxochitl, a name meaning five flower. Xochipilli, along with being the twin brother to the goddess Xochiquetzal, appears as the god of the fine arts, including poetry, writing, art, song, and dance. He is also the patron of homosexuals and male prostitutes. Linked also to Tlaloc, the god of Rain, for his association with fertility and agricultural produce, Xochipilli's emblems were the flower and corn as well. It is said that to commune with Xochipilli the adherent would partake in hallucinogenic plants, known as dream flowers. Like his twin sister, Xochiquetzal, Xochipilli was venerated by the offering of flowers.

Inspiration: The Lovers Tarot Card is the sixth trump card in the Major Arcana. This card is associated with the zodiac sign of Gemini, and represents the balance of masculine and feminine energy. It also suggests the importance of communication in order to maintain a well balanced relationship. The Lovers is a warm card, indicating the safety and security of the hearth and home. Although in its reversed position it indicates conflict and imbalance, the card in general does not possess an ill portent, but it does remind the querent to be mindful of their relationships with others... and themselves.

Personality: There is no one on this Pernese soil that can bring Macuith down. He knows exactly what he wants out of life, and even how to get it. He is not afraid to speak up when his needs are not being met, nor concerned about the damage he might cause in their pursuit. Although he is not a heartless dragon, he genuinely believes that there is no harm or shame in a little self-indulgence. He is one very charismatic young dragon, and he knows how to work it. Better beware, or Macuith might get under your skin. He's very, very charming, and knows how to turn a phrase. You might say he studied it in the egg, although where he might have picked such a thing up none can say.

There is a hint of the scholar deep inside of this dragon, and he yearns for the finer things in life. If there is a way to provide him with those things, his rider will be implored to do exactly that. The latest fashions? Ought to be his. That handsome Brown? Ought to be his. That delicious wherry? Ought to be his. And when he cannot have what he wants he will find ways within ways to scheme until he has the next best thing, if not that very thing in the first place. Nothing can stop Macuith when he's on a roll, and he's always game on. He has a particular fondness for music and dancing, and will be a sky dancer from the very first moment he takes off into the sky. He loves to show off, and thrills to the chase, although he has no desire to catch any Greens. Ladies, no offense, but this Blue is for gentlemen only.

In his heart of hearts, he has the soul of a lover, and would ache for nothing more than true love. Although he is well aware of his physical needs, and more than happy to oblige any who might seem interested, he does have a longing for a mate of his own. As a young dragonet, that desire will not so much manifest, except perhaps to incline him to making special friends that he had gossip with, for this dragon does love to talk. He's an able communicator, and loves to scandalize others with his stories-- even and perhaps especially when they are not true.

He has a particular relish for being admired, and he pines when he finds that attention is completely on another. What do they have that he doesn't? After all, he is a lovely beast, and he could do whatever it is they are doing as well as them... couldn't he? Or so Macuith would like to think. If his rider has any particular hang ups, he'll do his best to dispel them. If not, they will be the perfect partner-in-crime and wingman he could ever ask for... and he would be ever so happy to return the favor. He adores his twin sister Xochith, and she among all of his siblings is his very best friend, although he can occasionally be found in the clutches of Elzebuth... just long enough to admire the very capable Brown.

Positive Traits: Empowered, alluring, eloquent, persuasive
Negative Traits: Hedonistic, self-indulgent, salacious, smug

Adult Size: 27'
Physical Attributes: If you asked Macuith, he would tell you that he is the perfect picture of a Blue. With his sleek lines and fit muscles, he does stand out among the crowd. Not quite small, not quite as large as it gets, he sits very comfortably as a mid-sized Blue, but by no means is he average. He'd be offended if such were suggested.

Additional Notes: He is closest to Xochith, though he rather enjoys the company of Elzebuth and Thanoth, whose temperaments align closest to his own. Begath is also a fan favorite. He has a tendency to be protective of his twin sister, who is not quite as slippery as he. He's also very, very gay.

Theme Song: Your Entertainment, by Adam Lambert

Why Me? Cahlusi is Macuith's soulmate, and there's probably a slightly more than healthy bond there. Where Cahlusi has a tendency to be dissatisfied with what he has by the moment, Macuith knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Perhaps his strong desires can help his rider find what he most yearns for, or perhaps Cahlusi only needs a little encouragement to follow that star. They both have the soul of romantic, although Cahlusi is not yet ready to admit that, and Macuith is more than happy to help him play the field until they're happy where they're at. The Blue needs someone who sees right through him, which Cahlusi does, and Cahlusi needs someone who understands him, which Macuith does. To the end.

Green Thanoth
Written by Masterharper & Fated Fable
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: Though the card is not a true representation of death, this little girl's name is based on the greek god of death, Thanatos. Thanatos was represented as being just and gentle, and known to be an inevitable fate.

User Image

Inspiration: The Death card is the thirteenth card of the Major Arcana. In some tarot decks, this card's name is omitted, and it's simply called The Card With No Name. This card doesn't actually represent death or the act of dying. It usually means an end and an increased self-awareness.

Personality: This Green is full to the brim with love, absolutely accepting of any and all comers initially. However, her appreciation and support are of a quiet sort, not the flashy ostentation of some of her other siblings. When her scorn is earned it is absolute. Do not expect forgiveness from this Green. Your time would be better spent bemoaning water for being wet, or shouting at the darkness. Her regard is precious, and like so many other valuable things, it can fade all too soon. Perhaps her fickleness is due to a knowledge that everything in life changes, and that there is no reason to hold on tightly to something that wishes to drift away. By clinging to the old and rejecting the new, we risk limiting our own growth.

Thanoth does not have any trouble adapting to change, nor moving on from company that does not bring her emotional fulfillment. Woe betide anyone who would tie her down when she's ready to take a different path. They may be met with a sarcastic wit that comes unexpectedly, as her sardonic sense of humor often lurks beneath the surface. She makes such a concerted effort to fit into her environment that she doesn't necessarily want anyone to know the real, hidden Thanoth. She's unafraid to step forward into whatever role or position might best suit her, but she doesn't want to be caught out for the maverick that she truly is.

She loves best of all to share a good joke with anyone who will listen. Unfortunately, her brand of humor isn't for everyone. Although Thanoth thinks it's ever so funny that that runner fell down and knocked over that rider, the parties involved probably didn't. Nor did a Candidate who offended a dragon into kicking them off of the Sands think it was hilarious, but oh Thanoth sure did. She has, as mentioned, a slightly dark sense of humor. It's a little at odds with her surroundings, but she can't help that. Who doesn't love a great sarcastic remark? Well. Probably most everyone, come to think of it.

Thanoth loves, loves, loves to have some great joke to keep from everyone, or to share with them. She can't help but notice all of the goings on around her, and she's inclined to share with her rider, if no one else. She enjoys being a part of a circle of friends, especially if it means having someone to gossip with. Everything in life is a little bit funny, and she has the greatest time rolling along with it. Life at the bottom rung of society would be dull if she couldn't turn it into a game, so that's exactly what she'll do.

Positive Traits: Fearless, Accepting, Adaptable, Playful
Negative Traits: Minimalist, Fickle, Callous, Gossipy

Adult Size: 19'
Physical Attributes: A lovely, tiny Green with near perfect proportions, Thanoth stands out from the crowd. She is very dark in color overall, and her hide might easily be mistaken for black in the right light.

Additional Notes: She enjoys making the chase particularly difficult for male dragons and loves to cuddle with her sisters. If given a chance, she would chase other Greens. In the egg, Thanoth had an especially close bond to her brother Elzebuth. She finds Veledath to be intriguing, and Aresoth to be hilarious! Truthfully, there's not really any one of her siblings that she dislikes.

Theme Song: What Does The Fox Say? by Yvlis.

Why Me? If there was ever someone who could appreciate Thanoth's unique sense of humor and cutting wit, Vitre comes top of the list every time. While he is still young, he has a lot of growing he can do-- with Thanoth at his side. She adores his clever tongue, and loves all of the trouble that they can get up to! His loyal heart is just what she's looking for. He doesn't seem to want to rise above the rank he's been born into, and that's okay with her, so long as they can have the most fun. They both have a temper, which is definitely something to watch, but at the end of the day, their love for one another will win out. He's just as interested in the latest gossip as she is, and she can't wait to tell him all about it!

Green Varionnith
Written by Nilah44
Colored by Masterharper

User Image

Origin of Name: The Wheel of Fortune is a very lucky (or sometimes unlucky) card in the Tarot. This dragon's name is a play on two words that best represent the card.

Varian: fickle, changeable (Latin american)
Onni: happiness, luck (Finnish)

Varionnith is a combination of the names Varian, which means fickle or changeable and Onni, which means happiness or luck. Varionnith is therefore roughly translated to changeable luck.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Inspiration: Varionnith is based on The Wheel of Fortune, which is the 10th card of the Major Arcana. It is a card ruled by Jupiter, the planet of opportunity, growth, success, and expansion.

Personality:

Come what may. This green will shout on her way to battle. Varionnith is ready for anything, and if you ask her, anything should be ready for her! Not much will faze this green as she tends to go with the flow. The ability to adapt to any situation and take things as they come is a defining feature for her and she's definitely proud of it. She'll take whatever gets thrown at her. Unfortunately, when it rains it pours and of things start going badly or not necessarily well, Varionnith will still take things in stride, but much more dramatically. But daaarling, her beloved blue just flew that other green, things are OVER. You can't actually expect me to work today. Oh, you do? Well fiinnee, but only because she loves you. People other than her rider shouldn't expect that kind of thing however, this green can be very selfish. Things should be about her! She has no reason to include you in her good fortune. If you want to shower her with affection, there's no problem with that! But expect some blowback if you go talking up the green in the next weyr over! This often leaves her very huffy whenever another dragon rises but her rider will figure out that she can be easily distracted.

As time progresses, Varionnith’s rider will find that it's easy to move their green’s attention onto something else. It might take some nudging if she is really stuck on something if it's really irritating or making the dragon unhappy but it just takes the right distraction to get her back to her normal self. It's this trait that allows her to be carefree so much of the time. Her rider will play a big part in this as it does depend on being able to shift Varionnith’s attention elsewhere. Keep her attention off of anything negative, keep her carefree, and this one will conquer the world! After she makes a few jokes. Often, her humor will be noticed while she's being dramatic as she's prone to overemphasizing. She won't necessarily mean to be funny but some might find her dramatic bouts to contain humor. Otherwise, a well placed joke or pun is her ammo of choice.

Overall, Varionnith is flexible enough to take whatever is thrown at her, but if she come up on something she has a problem with, she only needs a distraction before she's ready for whatever is next! She'll handle most things gracefully with drama and a touch of humor but you're not likely to find a more carefree green!

Positive Traits: Carefree, Humorous, Flexible
Negative Traits: Selfish, Dramatic, Easily Distracted

Adult Size: 23’
Physical Attributes:
Why such a long face? Varionnith’s face seems just a tad longer than average though it can sometimes seem extremely long paired with a long neck. Both combined together help make her a little bit sneakier when doing one of the things she loves best: stealing her rider's blanket!

Additional Notes:
As a dragonet, she may often try to join hers in bed and be under the blanket with them. As she grows, this will often lead to just stealing the blanket off of her rider and using it herself!

Theme Song: Toast To Tomorrow by Blackmore's Night.

Why Me? Really, this is a case of rider and dragon needing one another to balance out. As Varionnith has a tendency to become easily distracted from whatever work needs doing, so Ellain has a tendency to focus overly much on the day to day drudgery of life. Varionnith knows the value of fun, and of living life a little more freely than does Ellain, and Ellain in her turn knows when to buckle down and get the job done. Focusing on the positive will get these two places, one goal after the other. This pair can be one another's other halves, helping one another to overcome their weaknesses. If there is one thing to be said of Varionnith, it is that she is a lively little Green, and Ellain could do with her well developed sense of humor.

Green Xochith
Written by Fated Fable

Origin of Name: The inspiration for the name Xochith (pronounced sho cheeth) comes from the Aztec goddess Xochiquetzal, goddess of fertility, beauty, female sexual power, child birth, prostitution, and woman's crafts. The Nahuatl word "Xochitl" means flower petal. In the Aztec mythology, Xochiquetzal was depicted as a beautiful young woman accompanied by birds and butterflies. In veneration of Xochiquetzal, also called Ichpōchtl, marigolds were presented as a sacrifice. The goddess had many lovers and husbands, including the dreaded Tezcatlipoca, who forced her into marriage. In many ways, the gentle and lovely Xochiquetzal represents the concept of the lover, the softest side of femininity, as well as the perseverance that is found in so many mythological tales of women. She is also a possible mother for the great Quetzalcoatl.

User Image

Inspiration: The Lovers Tarot Card is the sixth trump card in the Major Arcana. This card is associated with the zodiac sign of Gemini, and represents the balance of masculine and feminine energy. It also suggests the importance of communication in order to maintain a well balanced relationship. The Lovers is a warm card, indicating the safety and security of the hearth and home. Although in its reversed position it indicates conflict and imbalance, the card in general does not possess an ill portent, but it does remind the querent to be mindful of their relationships with others... and themselves.

Personality: If ever there were a dragon born to love, it would be Xochith. Her love has no bounds, and encompasses her rider particularly. Where they falter, Xochith will show strength and determination. Within this dragon there is an inclination to be self-sacrificing, putting others above herself. However, she does demand a certain adoration in return for that kindness. While others may give freely without expectation of return, this Green wishes to have her love returned in kind. When met with resistance she is a little confused, and more than a little hurt. All she wants is the best for everyone, surely that isn't so wrong?

Perhaps she's a bit fickle in her choice of mate or friend. But that is because there are so many out there deserving of affection! It is not that she is incapable of developing deep attachments or bonds, it is just that she is overwhelmed by choice and not prone to settling down with any particular mate just yet. She is very comfortable within herself, and especially comfortable in the field of courtship. Nothing would suit her better than to have many special friends, to dole out love to each and everyone, both platonic and romantic. She also especially enjoys the thrill of a Flight, though remaining in the air long may present her with a particular challenge.

Xochith has a rather band tendency to make excuses for those she prizes most dearly. If treated poorly by one that she loved, she would say that that other was having a bad day, or maybe they were just in a mood. It would be hard for her to say no to someone that she admired, or even those who have mistreated her in the past. She doesn't want to disappoint, and knows that it can be so hard to feel truly wanted, and she wants so badly to provide whatever she can.

She is a rather vain creature, as well, an attribute that her brother does not especially help with, as they tend to sing one another's praises, feeding each other's egos without meaning to. It's just that they're so close that it would seem unnatural not to shower one another with love. This is an attitude that she's likely to extend to her rider, building them up in turn, especially if they seem to need it. Beware though, as Xochith doesn't always know where praise and flattery begin and end. She could be convinced into doing all manner of wicked things if only the other fed her little draconic ego, so that's something to watch. But truly, she doesn't mean any harm and would be devastated if she realized what she'd been involved with.

Positive Traits: Warm, tender, nurturing, decisive
Negative Traits: Demanding, hedonistic, obliging, vain

Adult Size: 18'
Physical Attributes: She is a small Green, as she was trapped in the egg with her twin brother. Although she is well proportioned in every dimension, she tends to have a little trouble staying aloft in the air for extended periods. Dainty and demure, Xochith is a lovely sight to behold.

Additional Notes: Sweet little Xochith is likely to have a number of suitors of which she's particularly fond. One day in the future she may feel an inclination to settle down, but it would have to be a very special dragon indeed who could capture the whole of her heart-- and one prone to jealousy might best look elsewhere. She has a very close bond with her twin brother, and is in some danger of being subject to Elzebuth's machinations if that's kept in check by her rider.

Theme Song: Alejandro, by Lady Gaga

Why Me? Mallan is a young man in need of some lessons about young ladies, and who better to give them than Xochith? Additionally, she was impressed by the kind way that he took care of her sister during the Touching. He is a good man who needs a good woman behind him -- so says Xochith! She would be very good for his insecurities, and they're both a little concerned about their appearances. In his turn he has the potential to help her overcome her own pitfalls, especially where her rather manipulative siblings are concerned. She doesn't have any trouble making decisions, and would be so happy to be his sounding board for any he might need to make. While he has very few female friends she's hoping to add to that tiny pool by the number of one.

Green Veledath

Origin of Name: Veledath originates from Veleda, a priestess who led the Bructerii against Rome. The name Veleda means seeress, and Veleda is only one of many priestesses who fomented rebellion against colonial powers. Historically the role of priestess or priest has carried with it an assumed authority derived from a higher power, granting such an individual considerable cultural currency. Their words held greater weight, a power beyond that of an ordinary man or woman.

Inspiration: The High Priestess is the second card in the Major Arcana. She is ruled by the moon, which is symbolically associated with female aspects of the divine in many cultures. Balanced between the Maiden and the Crone, she possesses wisdom and knowledge of the mysteries. In the reverse position, the High Priestess can convey being blocked from divine sources, and possessing hidden agendas.

Personality: Veledath has secrets galore. She has paid careful, close attention to each one of her siblings since they were shelled, and she knows much more than she lets on about each and every one of them. Her thirst for knowledge isn't particularly driven by a desire to be recognized for it so much as it is by a need to have more cards in her hand than anyone else. She will learn a game until she is a master at it, and will never let on to opponents just how deeply she understands it. Keeping everyone guessing, never letting anyone in quite close enough to truly know her, allows Veledath a sense of security. If anyone knew what lay beyond her barriers they might not accept or adore her as she wishes to be.

Part of the almost uncanny knack is simple practice, and part of it is a reliance on her gut. She pairs emotional intelligence with mental intelligence, and so can be keenly intuitive. However, she faces a certain block when it comes to her own shortcomings and faults. Those can lead her to embarrassment since she would do almost anything to preserve the image that she's trying to portray. While she would like very much to be the perfect creature that she pretends to be, she is not and she knows that she is not. But maybe if she plays her cards right no one will figure her game out. After all, while even a master can be beaten, it would certainly take considerable luck to do so, or another master. That sort of skill is something that she would respect, even as she resented it. This is a Green that does not like to be commanded. Rather, she would prefer to be the one to call the shots, even if she takes no glory from it.

At her core, Veledath suffers from a deeply seated need for validation from her clutchmates and others. She wishes to have that mysterious flash and flare, that others might come to her for advice. Without their adulation, what is her wisdom worth? Although she puts on a show of confidence, in her heart of hearts, she is afraid of being exposed as a fraud. While she does genuinely offer keen insight, she is also prone to playing a part rather than opening up. It is painfully hard for her to let others in, lest they see her inner self and reject it. And so she must keep up pretenses, that that vulnerable core never be exposed to the gaze and judgement of others.

At her best, Veledath can be exceptionally charming and almost uncannily intuitive! Her powers of observation are well honed, and she puts them to considerable use. She tends to use her charm to tease out tidbits of information that she'll hold onto for later. When she feels that someone is paying too close attention to her, she'll try to distract them either with her wit, or with some interesting piece of information. As mentioned before, she doesn't like to let anyone close. Anyone could betray her. As someone who feels that she herself is not completely trustworthy, she has difficulty trusting in turn. But perhaps letting someone in would allow her to open up a little more in general, though the Green certainly doesn't think it would be to her benefit.

Positive Traits: Intuitive, intelligent, farsighted
Negative Traits: Beguiling, oblique, guarded

Adult Size: 26'
Physical Attributes: There is a certain charm to Veledath that may have something more to do with her mystique than physical allure, but she knows how to put her best claws forward. An elegant, large Green, she comes close to the maximum length for her color, but is not very heavily muscled.

Additional Notes: While she may have some close companions, Veledath finds it very hard to trust because she has ever so much that could be revealed-- to her detriment! When she does form a bond, it will probably be of longstanding, for if someone is close enough to her to get her walls down then she won't want them to part, lest they reveal her secrets to all. She does not trust any of her siblings, although that does not mean that she does not love them. She hasn't picked sides in the internal pre-Hatching scuffle, and that means she has companions on both ends of the spectrum. No one can truly say that they're friends with the Devil, but she's slotted him in the "uneasy allies" category. Similarly, she dislikes the arrogant assumptions of her metallic siblings, but on a personal level finds Aresoth to be an agreeable beast.

Theme Song: Elastic Heart by Sia

Why Me? Mennick's intelligence instantly drew Veledath. Although she is not inclined to reveal her motivations unless doing so projects her as a luminary, she does see in Mennick someone whom she can trust. His profession is of keen interest to the Green, who is fascinated by the inner workings of the mind. If there were ever someone that she could share her secrets with, a Mind Healer would be that person. Perhaps he can be that one person whom she can confide him, the person who will allow her to grow in faith and trust. Opening up to Mennick might help her to progress to the point of developing true friendships with other dragons, something that she hasn't managed yet. On the flipside, she has a lot to offer a man in his line of work. She can help him to remember key details about patients, and he can rest assured that their secrets are safe with her. Not that he could keep her out even if he wanted to.
