[ using second roll ]
A month of marital bliss was more than some hunters could say. Not that it had changed anything significant between him and Shaheen: they still fought, still gave shoulders, still happily held whatever victories they could over the other. Hell, Shaheen hadn't bothered changing her name, and he wasn't going to care if she ever did. The action itself had been purely for the possession of it, for their own individual needs to claim territory in one another, something each swore was a just 'cause reasoning and nothing more. And yet he loved it. Loved her.
And then, just like that, he was forced to remember that nothing gold could stay. In the Dusk, he lost her. And before Shik could so much as enact his revenge on the damn horsemen, before the scream had finished leaving his lips, and just shortly after his weapons had been summoned, he felt something pierce through his stomach.
The hunter he saw over his shoulder was so small, so thin. Her weapon was conversely large, but the tip of it was just the right size to cave his left lung. Shik stuttered, at a loss for words even had he been able to cough up anything but blood.
"You were a liability," the girl with pink hair said, too soft for the location. He barely heard the rest of her words as he fell. "It's better this way."
