Barty was in deep, deep, deep grief.
Normally he wouldn't antagonize the Hotheads, since Sun Division was a bunch of jocks whose main hobby was meting out pain, but he took some satisfaction in someone else besides him suffering.
The clothes he didn't care enough much, even though his shirt underarms were already smelling pretty ripe. It was everything else. His gear, his setup, his notes and projects, his game stations and games, his stuff. He didn't like anybody messing with his room in the first place.
He'd feel better working on some programs for the labs, but right now he didn't want to feel better. He just wanted to mope in the wreckage.

Sara was mostly upset about her clothes. She had accumulated a lot of very fancy clothes in her time on the island and thanks to the hurricane all of them were completely messed up bar a few. She didn’t grieve it much, after all it just meant that now she would need to buy a whole new set of outfits which was fine, and her precious coat was just fine along with the outfit she’d been wearing. The bulk of her makeup was also fine because she’d had it on her in her bag at the time.
She was just privately glad that no one important had been injured by the event, even if she’d never actually mention it.
Showing up at Barty’s room she had a few snacks in tow and let herself in the way she always did. The damage was pretty bad as it was pretty much everywhere and she took a few moments just to take it in again before asking “How are you holding up?”

Barty sighed, the flood and wind making everything look like unrecognizable trash. Some of the rooms were worse than others, but how do you come back from that much water damage?
He sighed.
"Well, I completely missed E3, if that tells you anything."

Sara gave him a concerned look for his comment about E3. She only even knew what it was because of him and it made him strongly question the judgement of the other man.
What else was new though.
"It doesn't tell me all that much I'm afraid." She moved to sit on a non stinky and damp spot. "They say they'll help cover all the repairs needed. My room didn't get hit this badly, this is pretty grim."

Barty managed a smile at Sara. "It's...hard to take. But I guess that's life here. No matter what we build up, it just takes one day to-"
He sadly picked over a plastic game case.
"Lose it. Oh well. It's...not everything," He looked over at Sara. "It was, um, it'll...just take a while for things to, um, dry. I guess. It won't be the first time I slept at my desk."

"You are NOT sleeping at your desk." she said matter of factly. "That's how you completely do your back in. My room is mostly fine, my bed didn't even get touched. My clothes mostly soaked it up I think." And she sighed sadly for all the things she'd lost as a result.
"So you can come live with me for now. It will be easier, till it dries here and gets fixed."
She tried not to dwell on what she was even going to wear from now on.

"R-really? Yeah, okay, if you're sure. But," He looked red. "Um, Sara, you...just have one bed, right? Not that I mind."
He definitely wouldn't mind that. It was just that he never knew exactly what Sara was thinking. And Sara was...definitely really attractive, which made her well out of his league.

"Well I don't mind if you don't mind so it's settled." she said. "I'm sure nothing will happen untoward so it will be fine."
She gave him a big grin. "Besides you aren't particularly noisy, smelly or irritating, so you have that going for you."

"Oh, yes," Barth agreed, "Nothing you don't want to do, anyway."
He laughed a little at the last.
"Not yet, but I only have this one shirt, so I don't know how long, um, that will last." He pulled it a little off his stomach to look at the Catherine logo, and the anime illustrations that accompanied it.
"You're being...pretty nice," he said suspiciously.

He got two brows raised for pushing his luck. "I don't want to do anything but sleep." she said. "Like you are meant to in a bed." She clenched her hands at the thought of no clothes. "Well I don't have any clothes either so we are just going to need to buy more when the portals open or bribe some from people who have some because uh I'm not going to dress like this for ever."
She'd been wearing a very short hip hugging skirt and a loose top when the hurricane hit and though she'd managed to retrieve a pair of trousers it just wasn't great.
"I only have one pair of panties and don't even get me started on these tights" she sighed.
"I suppose it could be worse, I could have been stuck wearing what you are wearing."

"Um, yeah, of course. Like I said, whatever you want," Barth said. At the mention of buying things, he rubbed the back of his neck. "Ha ha, I thought so. You...don't have to worry about that stuff. I'll get you whatever you want. It just might be a few days, I heard they cancelled leave."

Sara nodded. "Yeah they did but it'll be back soon enough." And when they were she was going to get a wardrobe of all the latest fashions.
"But yes. I want both of us to get new things, consider that your task to repay my generosity."
She smirked. "And here you thought I was just being nice."

Barty gave up on the room for now, half-heartedly kicking at some of the pooled water and placing some of the semi-salvagable items on a desk he'd put upright and dried.
"I'll worry about it later. I'd been putting it off, but...maybe I should finally look into a house. Ah- I'm going to have to do a lot of project commissions. But...I guess a lot of other people will need their stuff replaced too. They'll...probably want us out on supply runs. Augh. It's going to be months of work. ...Have you eaten yet?

"Well." she said. "There has never been a better time to start moving into a house than now I can safely say. If it's something you were thinking of then I strongly urge you to just go for it. We could get one together if it was too daunting for you." she looked him over critically. "I mean you can barely take care of yourself, maybe you'd do better with me to keep you in line."
She liked the idea of it, the idea of being able to keep an eye on him and boss him around if need be.
"No I haven't eaten yet, are you offering?"

"Um, just to go to the cafeteria together. I don't know how many of the vending machines are working. I could take a look at one, if you want a soda."
Barty brushed off his shirt, smiling at Sara.
"And...wow, yeah. I'd like that, you could get a room and everything. If you wanted, I mean. I'm not great at like, construction, but I can swap favors with some of the Moonies. Everyone needs tech."
