The idea of Riley being a guard for anything, let alone an Embassy, was laughable. There she was, in her Horseman disguise, looking more frightened than whoever was inside hoping to be guarded.
She could hear Andeon laughing at her over and over in her head, never able to stop finding it funny that someone had put her in charge of guarding. She reminded him that she was well trained for battle, and just because she wasn't in the best of shape anymore the way she used to be didn't mean she couldn't handle humans when she needed to, or the occasional horseman - which she still fought from time to time, thank you very much!
He still laughed.
A lot.
"In shape" for her, versus "in shape" for a mindflayer, were very different perspectives.

When the first human mob came, with their pitchforks and torches, Riley whispered a shuddering 'oh hell no' under her breath, and just got out of the way.
That set Andeon to howling - she'd be fired for sure, if she kept this up. But there was no way she was going to try and fight an entire mob! Of humans, no less! She might hurt someone!

Once things were quiet again, Riley heard a thud behind her. A crude bomb was sitting on the ground, ticking away.
She grabbed it, and hurled it as hard as she could back over the wall.
It came flying back like a tennis ball, and she ducked as it flied over her head and into the Embassy window.
Whoops.

Another mob came flying forward, and this time Riley acted like she was hurling herself into the fray.
In truth, she was losing herself in the crowd that eventually busted in and ruined the Embassy a second time. But she sure did look like she'd done her job!
