It wouldn't be long now before his janarim skins were ready to be made into armor. Once that armor was made he was going to don it and go to take on some more large beasts, possibly some snaptrotters this time around. They had some rather grand, colorful hides that would make for some awesome additions to the armor he was going to be making for himself. For the time being though he was trying to figure out what to do until then. He supposed he could go out hunting for more stuff? More janarim, perhaps? He could always use some more of their hides to build up his armor. There were also xaraan, he'd heard that their meat was fantastic! There was a lot of various beasts out there to pick from when it came to his hunting so he could always just chase down the first thing he found.

He wondered if he should include those of the various tribes in that broad statement. Should he chance picking another fight with someone out there? After that last one that had cost him a kiss he had to admit he was a touch leery. He'd much rather battle with a whole herd of janarim then take on that Matorian again any time soon. So maybe he could start toward the border and see about fighting it out with some of the Oban beasts instead of having to risk running into that kissing idiot again.

Lifting a hand he pulled his yaotl mask down over his face, shifted his pack one shoulder, rested his spear on the other, and started out. Time to find himself a good hunt or a good fight, anything to keep himself from watching hides dry.

As he walked along he found himself picking up a bit on a sound, a familiar one, that of footsteps. Instantly his fin ears seemed to perk up, his eyes going a bit wide, with him debating over what it was that might be. It didn't sound like a big beast, didn't sound like a four legged sort, and that made him wonder if maybe it was in fact a Xaraan? Probably not, he wasn't close enough to Oba yet. Surely one of the birds wouldn't wander this far into Matori, right? A curious look on his face he squatted down, scanning the area through the eye holes in his mask. It took a bit of time but there it was, his prey... well, no. Not an it, but instead a she. An odd she too... as though he could talk.

Shifting himself a bit more he moved forward in a slow, careful manner, wanting to get a better look at her. She was different that was for sure, like nobody he'd seen before. To be fair though he didn't get around much nor did he spend as much time with other people as he did hunting various beasts. As such he couldn't really pick out what tribe she was from at a glance. After a couple moments he didn't care either, not when he saw the knives.

Instantly his heart started to race. A warrior! Should he try to pick a fight with her? Surely she wasn't as powerful as that annoying, kiss stealing Matorian, right? She seemed like one that he might be able to stand toe to toe with... and he found himself instantly tempted. Grinning behind his mask he started forward, keeping close to the ground, while he debated whether he should try to pick a fight or not.

The one that he was skulking closer to seemed to catch on that he was nearby, causing Gahiji to freeze in place for a moment. It seemed that she knew that he was nearby, huh? What would her next move be? It seemed that her reaction was to take hold of a pair of knives, one in each hand, while falling into a defensive behavior. So she was ready to fight? That was something that caused him to perk up a bit, his fin ears giving a delighted twitch. So he could definitely get himself a battle out of this one then?

With a grin on his face, one that was hidden behind his yaotl mask, he shrugged out of his pack. He'd let it wait behind since its weight would hold him down in a fight against what he'd guess was a swift type of fighter given her build. Once his bag was off he took hold of his spear in both hands, rose to his full height, and went charging forward. He'd told himself that he was going to avoid fights with other people for a while after the last one.

That thought was tossed completely out the window upon him finding what seemed like it would be a good fight though...

Gahiji found himself slowing slightly as the girl was suddenly running away from him while screaming 'no' over and over again. It seemed as though she was a warrior in look only? That was something that confused him a bit but he continued to follow along after her regardless, though at a slightly more sedate pace. Had she changed her mind that quickly? It sort of reminded him of that magic woman that he'd met... though after a bit she'd jumped into the fight, even gave him a solid hit with that wand of hers. Maybe this woman would be the same?

After a short time of following slowly behind her she suddenly rounded on him again, weapons raised, and he found himself wondering for a split second if she had just been moving to more favorable terrain? The sparse trees did offer some shade which meant she was probably able to see him better. Taking that as a good sign he echoed the war cry she gave and once more charged forward. It seemed the fight he wanted was about to start after all! Something that had him quite excited. Here was to hoping this would be as good a battle as he had been seeking from the beasts that lived in this area.

She was sticking around this time Gahiji thought to himself, his excited over the battle rising as he charged. This was it! This was the fight that he was looking for... well, sort of. She was still looking a bit as though she didn't want to be here but he was at least having a bit of fun! One of her knives was able to deflect his spear point so that it wouldn't hit her, not that he was harming for real harm, and the other was thrust forward to... stab him? Maybe?

He blinked a couple times Gahiji bounced back a couple steps away from the blades. He debated a moment, decided he didn't want any new scars if he could avoid them, before he went low, swinging the butt end of his spear around to attempt to sweep at her legs. Maybe he could knock her legs out from under her? If he was able to do so he could claim the victory sooner then later!

Gahiji gave a sound of delight when he was able to make the knife wield girl at least stumble. It seemed like going after her legs was a good thing! Giving a nod of his head and a grin behind his yaotl mask he spun his weapon around, stuck the butt end of it in the dirt, and moved to try to tackle the flailing girl. Might as well try to end it while he had an opening! If he could net himself a victory here it would be quite awesome! It wouldn't make up for his previous loss but it would at least give him a few points.

Of course as he lunged forward for her he took a rather hard kick to the midsection but since it wasn't any really vital bits that got kicked he felt he should be fine. It would ache later, might even bruise, but for the time being the had enough adrenaline pumping that he wasn't slowed down by it in the present.

Gahiji threw his arms into the air as the girl landed on one knee in the dirt instantly declaring, "Winner!" Before he turned around and trotted over to where he'd left his spear behind, pulling it free from the sand. The fact that she was on the ground, having taken a knee, and was scrambling for her lost weapon, he felt it was time enough to call it. He didn't want to seem like a bully, nor did he want to keep pocking at her, he'd just been looking for a good time as far as the duel went. It felt like a point where they could call it and he was more then happy to call it in his own favor. Even if it were incredibly biased of him to do so.

After he'd gotten his spear he then trotted over to where his pack was sitting, scooping that up next. Once he had it over his shoulder he turned around to give the girl a glance through the eye holes in his mask and asked, "You're not in need of a healer or anything, surely?" He didn't think she'd gotten hit that hard... right? Unless she was some delicate, breakable sort and then maybe he'd have to worry a bit.

Gahiji gave a bit of a shake of his head as he lifted his free hand, pushing back his yaotl mask so it was on the top of his head, and glanced over toward the young woman, "Nobody fights the same way if they know it's just a duel." Things were far more interesting when he got the jump on people... at least it was far more interesting to him that was. He gave her a once over then said, "You don't appear half dead so surely it wasn't that much of a scare." Probably a good thing, it wouldn't be any fun if he gave the girl a heart attack during their surprise duel.

Lifting a hand up he rubbed it against his stomach before he said, "I'm sure I'll have a foot shaped bruise but I'm not too worried. I've had worse wounds in my time." Hence all of the scars that he had upon his person from various fights with both people and beasts. No reason to worry about a simple bruise, especially when he'd basically asked for it.
