"This waaaaay~~" Camixi's voice was singsong as she led the blonde down the hall with a skip in her step. Maebe was a most interesting scavenger and the brunette was looking so very forward to this visit! First because she never really had friends over to the Burrow and second because this was interesting. Her friend was swathed from neck to toe in bandages that didn't have a gap, didn't seem to house any little friends, and her only other covering was a most lovely scarf. Camixi understood the scarf seeing as most of her outfits were layers upon layers of them covering her dark skin. But she didn't understand the bandages. More interesting was the fact that Maebe could change her age! She could go from being someone almost Mimsy's age, to someone Cami's own age, and this was the age that she liked best. They were going to have a little party. A sleepover, humans called it, and she'd been planning this for days. Throwing open the door into her corner of her hive-like home she waved her hands dramatically. "Tadaaaaaaah~!"

When she'd agreed to spend time with the girl named Camixi, she'd only done it on the caveat that she be allowed to enjoy a taste of youth again, because America never wanted to hang out with her like that - and she couldn't help but think it would be a lot of fun. Camixi seemed more than open to the idea. And so, the plan was set! When she was escorted into the Burrow, she was physically back to her teens, but no less hollow inside. She stopped once they'd arrived, and peeked in before following Camixi's entrance. "You have a lovely home." She coo'd, quite taken with its charm. "You're very kind for inviting me here. I don't have many friends. Just a few very close ones. But I don't think I've ever met someone so joyful as you." And it was clear by the little smile on her face, Maebe appreciated that exuberance. She thought it sweet, even if she couldn't match it in strength - or perhaps because she couldn't.

Camixi was all about youth. She was especially all about Horsemen that were technically older than she was abandoning their age to come down to her level, so to speak, because it made her feel a little special. Okay it really made her feel more than a little special but she couldn't admit that. That was giving up too much information and before you knew it Rohim was sniffing around and...yeah. Not the best idea to be too excited. 'Home' was more or less a collection of various strands of lights wound around the ceiling for the ever-present insects of any kind or nature to gather around. Pillows, large stretches of decorated textiles, a few tables covered in books and nectar bottles were the only real decorations. Cami spent almost all of her time in the main area of her shared home and this room did not see much use. Rustling her wings she beamed at the compliment nonetheless. "Thank you! I never really have anyone here because...well...not a lot of people want to come. So I'm glad that you did! Do!" She stumbled over her tongue a bit in excitement. "I've always wanted to have a...hm. Is the word playdate?"

"Have you never had someone over?" Maebe hummed out, thumbing curious fingers through the pages of the books strewn about. She chuckled, soft, breathless. "Not that I make a habit of inviting people into my chambers either. But you just seem so - friendly? Like you should have a thousand friends. Thousands upon thousands. It surprises me that your life is not full to the brim with people clamoring for your attention." She drops to the ground and then lays down, lounging catlike on the carpets. "Hm. Playdate. What a funny word. Sure, a playdate! What game will we play?" Maebe absolutely adored games.

Maebe had apparently learned a very helpful thing about other creatures: flattery would get you everywhere with them. Camixi was just as susceptible as anyone else but perhaps doubly more so for the fact that she was so very young and more than a little naive. She couldn't even keep looking at the pretty blonde as she felt herself flush with a mixture of pleasure and embarrassment at the idea of having a thousand friends. And then the fact of not having a thousand friends. "No..I mean, I have family over all the time but friends..." She shrugged, wings shifting a bit with a dry little sound not unlike a sigh. "The Nothing is probably my closest friend and he does not get along very well with my mothers. And Rohim is too sneaky to be let so close to our secrets. He hungers too much to know them." LeZli was bad enough but at least he was a part of the Burrow in his own way. A non-blood related Loki. Shoving down embarrassment she focused purely on the pleasure, beaming at Maebe as she gestured for the other mare to make herself comfortable. "Well I can braid your hair if you'd like, or we can talk about whatever you'd want to talk about, or we could probably play that truth or dare game I hear humans talk about so often." She frowned for a second. "Though I'm not sure what a good dare is yet. I am working on it."

Maebe listened, enraptured. The girl just opened up to her without any real push, telling her names and information as if they'd been friends for years. It was refreshing. "So you do know people. They sound terribly interesting. Especially the hungry one. Does he ever attempt to eat you?" She shifted to sit down in front of Camixi, wordlessly offering her back and her hair for the braid. "We could do all of the things. Why choose? Tell me more about your family, if you wish. I'm all ears."

Cami would have been amused by Maebe's awe at how easily the girl opened up to her new friend. There was knowledge worth protecting and keeping to yourself -- like her desire to be the hive's Queen one day -- but things that could easily be known by everyone and anyone? Especially in the hivemind? What was the point of keeping yourself closed up? Instead she was entertained by the pretty blonde who sat where a seat had been offered, asking all kinds of questions that Camixi was happy to answer. "Of course I know people. We're Famine. We know everyone." Everyone that mattered, at least. She often felt bad for Nine since the redheaded warrior did not know the comforts of the hivemind. Her snort when Rohim was mentioned was completely inelegant and very telling. "No. He just wants to know everything and doesn't understand patience. He just gobble gobble gobbles and then when his tummy hurts, in this case when he tries to explore where he shouldn't, he whines. He already thinks he knows me so he doesn't try to know more." And indeed he knew quite a bit but not all of her. No one would ever know all of her. Fingers began to thread and weave through thick blonde hair as focus narrowed down. "Where would you like me to start? My mothers? My sisters? There is a lot to tell."

This was so novel. So easy to fall into. Maebe's shoulders relaxed as she settled in, and closed her eyes when Camixi's fingers slid through her hair. "Your mothers, please. I never knew mine." It was such a short sentence, with so much behind it. Despite being of Famine, Maebe felt harshly disconnected to the hive. She was eating up Camixi's information much like the hunger of Rohim.

An ill-conceived thought began to blossom in Camixi's head when she was informed that Maebe had never known her mother. It was born of distress and the desire to show off what it was she had to offer. What she had been taught by her wonderful mothers and sisters. Everyone had their strengths and Cami had a few of her own but none of them were as good as the others in her family. Her thought was that she could give a little bit of what her moms had given her to the blonde curled up so comfortably into the pillows of her nest. Fingers that had been separating hair to braid now moved to lightly, tentatively, rub at the other girl's scalp. This always soothed her and made her feel so much more relaxed, happy, and cared for. "My mothers are very very interesting. Ven, my mama, she's an alchemist for our clan. Poisons, mostly, but she also makes the most beautiful glass." Pulling a hand back she sent some glass beads hanging from the ceiling clinking together in a musical, if discordant, sound. "And you'd really really like my mom, Nine. She's a warrior from the War clan with such red hair and she's so fierce. She loves fiercely, hates fiercely, and tells us that women will rule this world some day. Doesn't that sound wonderful?!" Her laugh said that she both did and did not believe such a thing. Hushed, almost like it was special or secret, she continued. "And they love each other so much. They're almost never apart and when they have to be, even for a little while, they are so passionate about being together again. It's like nothing I've ever imagined." But she had, so often, and wanted the Nine to her Ven so very badly. One day. If she was lucky.

Hands as delicate and gentle as Camixi's felt comforting against her scalp. She felt tingly, not quite tickled but pleasant. A very long sigh escaped her as she fell into it. Camixi's stories of her mothers sounded distant, like a dream. They both sounded interesting, but Maebe couldn't feel any of the connections Camixi so fiercely held on to with these people. They were just names, emotions, actions. Lovely to speak of, but gone just as quick as they were there. "That is a very special kind of love." Maebe mused, her eyes still closed. "I hardly see something that passionate between two people. They are very lucky to have one another." She smiled, and turned her head. "And you, of course!"

Cami's eyes softened completely around the edges at the long sigh that needed no translation or explanation. She could feel the other Horsewoman going limp with relaxation and accepting the comfort that was offered. That softening would have vanished just as quickly as it came if she'd realized even a fraction of the hollow ring her words had on Maebe. Everything was so monumentally emotional to her, all the time, it was inescapable. Her War heritage, perhaps? Ven was not so emotional as her wife. No one could quite call Mimsy emotional. Her thoughts tilted that way at her friend's words, a thoughtful hum from lips pouted together in thought. "They are. I suppose Mimsy and Robert are the same. I don't understand their love at all but it seems just as strong. They have two little ones and I just..." She shook her head. Playing at being maternal was one thing. Actually having baskets? No. The sudden turn had her falling forward a bit, laughing as she moved back up onto her knees, pulling fingers from blonde hair before she was too rough. "And me? They're lucky to have me, I'm lucky to have them, or we're all lucky to have each other?"

"Mimsy and Robert." Maebe made a face. She knew those names, if only in passing. "Wasn't he the one that flew naked at the crystal? Repeatedly? Are they part of your family, too?" Because yikes. "You're right. You're all lucky to have each other. Your life sounds so.. full." To Maebe, the idea of fullness was a long winded pipe dream. Both emotionally, and physically. It meant a lot.

"Naked?! At the crystal?!" Her voice peaked sharply before she groaned and dropped her head down so it almost bonked into Maebe's. "That sounds like him. He makes me wonder about love so much!" Sitting back up she returned to rubbing at her guest's scalp before starting to lay out pieces of hair for braiding. She would put the most lovely glass beads into it! "Mimsy is brilliant. She used to tell me she put the stars in the sky and I believed it because she was so impressive. But she married someone so....so Robert!" That was the only word for her sister's mate. The only one she would let herself say out loud at least. She and Nothing had had a few very hushed, very private, conversations about Camixi's true feelings about the blond brute but she was not so foolish as to say them anywhere Mimsy might overhear. Impulsively, because it was a part of her being, Cami couldn't help but offer the impossible. "You can be part of our family if you want!"

Maebe chuckled, feeling full at all of the exuberance in Camixi's voice. She could listen to the girl talk forever, it was all at once charming and exhausting. But most of all, it meant she could remain quiet, enjoying the sound as if stories were music meant to be digested for enjoyment. But then she made the offer, and Maebe's laughter turned a little embarrassed. "Flattering as that is, that is not a gift for you alone to give, sweet one. You cannot just claim people are part of your family, without your family there to agree. Besides, I don't do well with others." She turned her head just enough to meet Camixi's eye, and gave her a purse lipped smile. "Present company excluded, perhaps. But you needn't worry about me. I don't need family to be happy. I'm quite happy as is."

Camixi was indeed a child of all smiles and delight though she had a wicked streak a mile wide, as did all of their kind. One could hardly usher in the apocalypse with rainbows! Despite that delight though she couldn't help but argue, entirely unaware of the embarrassment her guest was feeling. "No one ever asked me about leaving or coming into the family, why should I ask them?" Teenage arrogance and petulance was obvious in the way she tossed her head. "But I believe you if you say you're happy. And certainly I understand that not everyone is good living in a mess of bodies like we are." Nothing had taught her that lesson a long time ago. She knew he had a mate, and at least one child, but they had never met despite all of her time spent with the elder sage. Clever fingers began to weave glass beads into braids so that they knocked together with a quiet tinkle. "You have such lovely hair. I'm almost jealous."
