[ JOB LISTING ] Loan shark

[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star

[ TASK ] It's time to call in some loans - aka the bank's most formidable and infamous task, what they're best known for. He's invited you to some interviews with people who are behind on their loan payments; the office is extremely grand and fancy - and also imposing. Doing this task means that Crane trusts you to know what you're doing, so you'd better not let him down...

[ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d100 and see how well you've fared. You may have two clients a day.

  • 01 - 15 - The person you've been instructed to speak to is a young parent who keeps crying everywhere. It's a little flustering to try and talk when someone is sobbing on your shoulder...needless to say, Crane is disappointed in your efforts. Or lack thereof. ( fail )

  • 16 - 30 - Twins. Why twins? What sort of twins take out a loan together? Apparently to open a small business. They're the type of twins who finish each other's sentences, which gets you both confused and a little annoyed. Crane doesn't appreciate your impatience...but he does seem to appreciate the creativity you use to handle the situation. ( pass )

  • 31 - 45 - Your patron is a young person - very young. In fact, so young that you're wondering how a person this young even got a loan. But it seems that appearances can be deceiving. You do well in getting them to admit that they need to pay the bank back. ( pass )

  • 46 - 60 - The customer is an elderly person who keeps trying to get you to speak louder and louder because they can't hear you. Crane seems amused by this, but doesn't intervene, even when the patron says that you remind them of their grandchild. They reminisce about stories of their childhood, and you get so involved in the storytelling that you almost forget you're doing work. ( pass )

  • 61 - 75 - Your patron is an attractive - very attractive - very very attractive - person who keeps flirting outrageously at you. Crane seems to find this quite normal, but it's throwing you off your game. Or maybe you're really good at flirting back. Either way, you actually do manage to convince them to make a payment. ( pass )

  • 76 - 90 - Your meet with someone who is unbelievably derogative and dismissive. No matter how levelheaded you might be, they eventually say something that gets under your skin, and you lose your temper. Crane seems a little entertained by this, but, well, you can't go around snapping at clients, after all. ( fail )

  • 91 - 100 - You meet with a high profile client who is as smooth as a shark and as cool as a cucumber. Nothing you say and do can ruffle them, but in spite of this, Crane seems both pleased and satisfied with your attempts at getting them to repay their outstanding debts. He gives you a nod of commendation. ( pass )

Today's client er clients where a pair of identical twins. They had taken out a loan to start a small business. Every time Chao attempted to get them to pay back the loan they would keep switching to a different topic, even worse they kept finishing each other sentences so she was never really sure who was talking. Eventually the verbal run around got on her nerves. "Would you two stop talking and just pay the loan!" Needless to say she failed again.

Chao was starting to wonder why crane kept letting her attempt to be a loan shark, so far she had failed every time. Although a few times it seemed like he was amused by it. The horsewoman shook her head to clear the negative thoughts then put on a cool business savvy persona and walked out into the area.

“Good Morning Mr. Mores.” She greeted her client. The man, who was well known in the bank merely nodded at her. “So I see you have a large amount of outstanding debt. If you don’t pay before your next bill date then the bank will have to start collecting the money ourselves.” She explained. Her client however didn’t seem to be phased. “So it looks like you took out the loan to buy several real estate properties.” She stated as she overlooked his file.

“yes.” He responded. “Unfortunately we will be forced to foreclose on any properties that where bought if you don’t pay.” He shrugged before saying he had other rental properties, and five houses. What kind of human had FIVE houses? “We might also be forced to repossess some of your items as well. Such as the sports car you bought, also with the loan money.” Try as she might nothing seemed to phase this guy.

By the time there meeting was finished she had gotten very little accomplished. She sighed as she closed his file, another client who refused to pay. As she got up to leave she noticed Crane looking in her direction. Was that her imagination or did he just give her an approving nod? Maybe she hadn’t done that badly this time?
