[ JOB LISTING ] Guard [ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_stargaia_stargaia_star [ TASK ] Thing's are getting a bit heated near one of the embassies, and additional guards are needed.
Quote:
One of the side effects of having War clan members visiting often is that sometimes they have an effect on the local populace. Which isn't necessarily terrible, but embassy buildings don't grow on trees. Except for the wooden ones, maybe, but those are extremely flammable. Anyway, calls for extra gaurds at the various embassies aren't uncommon, and this time it's Edict herself who takes notice of you.
"Go help."
Conquest isn't one to mince words, to be honest, but ignoring them isn't wise.
Pick any city in the world to have this take place and roll 3d4 for three prompts. You can have your character try to duck out of guard duty instead by rolling 1d10. 1-9 they get caught and you need to write all 4 prompts instead. Roll a 10 and they successfully don't get caught, after a fun day in the city causing a ruckus, they get back and join in time to receive pay and commendation for a job well done.
Embassy HP: 1000 A crude bomb of some sort is lobbed over the wall. You can choose to try tossing it over, defusing it, or containing the explosion. Roll 1d4 - even is successful, odd is a failure. Failure costs the embassy 250 HP A rioting mob storms the doors, there are literal torches and pitchforks being waved about. It's actually kind of charming, but this is no time for nostalgic remembrance! Fight them off, persuade them, or barricade the building. Roll 1d4 - even is successful, odd is a failure. Failure costs the embassy 250 HP (but no need to continue rolling for this prompt!) Hunters have infiltrated the battle zone, discreetly joining the human attacks. Pick them out and pick them off as best you can. Roll 6d100 to determine how much damage the hunters (and possibly you yourself) cause before you get rid of them A War Heir has gone happily berserk at the fighting and transformed into a fifty foot monster horse. Roll 1d100 to soothe them. If you roll any number containing 1 or 9, you succeed. If you don't, then that number is the damage taken by the embassy. Continue rolling until they are successfully soothed.
Should the embassy fall, Edict shows a quiet display of disappointment in you and has you removed from her sight for the rest of the day.
[ UPON COMPLETION ] +1 Raffle Ticket (you can only claim a MAX of 3 per player this way!) +5 Currency +1 Arcana Bonus gaia_crown+1 RARE UNIQUE CLOTHING PIECE RELATED TO THIS JOB (LINK COMPLETED THREAD HERE)

Liya did not know what was so bad about having War influence over humans. It made things fun and interesting and sometimes it was hilarious watching them fight and try to act like they were these fearsome warriors. Hunters were a different story but the War Horseman would burn that bridge when they got there.
Speaking of War Horsemen, "Meelo! Good to see you out and about~" she greeted her fellow War Horseman who would serve as another Guard here at the embassy.
Liya War Horseman; Warrior Wild Arcana (formerly The Tower Arcana Group D) Journal - 5"0 tall - Mother hen - Loves you all!
Meelo didn't see anything wrong with it either and had managed to keep his opinion to himself when whomever was hiring out for this current job began to express their concerns on the matter.
But maybe those from War could cull the effects of their clan a little bit against the apparently very frail mindset of the humans; really, how easily influenced could one get? At least maybe he could enjoy himself on some remote location, scope out the locals and see what was in in various ways more than one (with female, with tech, with traps. Humans did at least have some interesting things).
A voice pulled him out of his thoughts and he turned to the other brunette with a big grin, "Aa! Howzit Liya? Ready to go take some names and throw some punches?"
name: Meelo journal:A link! clan: War (Soldier) arcana: Hermit description: Tall, tanned, lean, toned and tattooed. His brown hair is pulled into a man bun with part of the sides shaved. Eyes are green, clothes are barely there, a smile always present and wings are large, tan with red markings.
That eagerness and enthusiasm made Liya smile. With a wink, she answered "You know I am!" Even if it would have to be against one of their own heirs. She'd done this job before and she knew that it would be more than expected of them to do what must be done.
"C'mon, let's get to our stations in case a mob or something shows up."
He honestly had no idea what to expect, but it did seem like a fair assessment that fighting would be involved; at least there was a part of him that hoped for it. Even though, yeah, it wasn't against their own clan. But sometimes horsemen needed to be put into their place, right? (Also the whole berserker thing).
Taking her lead, Meelo surveyed the embassy exterior - and then looked behind at the wall that was meant to protect it - and found a spot that seemed like an ideal place to guard any on coming threats.

As they began to find their places to guard, what should happen but for a War Heir to go into a berserk rage. Somehow, Liya was not surprised but she was certainly not amused by the behavior either.
With her Mother Hen mode activated, she flew up to give the Heir a stern but motherly talking to. Yes, a 5"0 tall winged woman somehow managed to talk down a 50" Heir from going on a destructive rampage.
The gigantic horseman wasn't the only thing that descended upon the embassy in that instant. Though Liya was awesomely able to calm the Heir and talk it down, there was still the angry mob that it brought with it.
They had pitchforks and weapons and of course Meelo found it a little cute that they had taken up such a futile effort but found he still had a job to do. There was still at least a wall separating, and going out with such a large number to try bravado and take them all out just seemed like a stupid idea. Even though he really wanting to. Perhaps it just meant finding the best of both worlds.
He searched around him, trying to find something that would be able to aid him. Thankfully he found it in the form of a fireman's hose that was nicely strapped to the wall. With his elbow, he broke the glass and turned on the water, momentarily taken a back at the pressure until he got it steady. And aimed.
There was a collective gasp and yelp from the gaggle of humans as they found their pitiful weak forms pulled down to the ground. Their torches went out, their pitchforks out of their hands. And probably a few of them were knocked out. Excellent.

By the time Liya landed back on the ground the mob had regained some of its earlier steam and reattempted to assault the embassy. The War Horseman smirked, joined Meelo by the hose. She took hold of the hose, winked at him, and said "You finished rinsing, time to repeat~"
Though the hose seemed to do wonders against the humans, splitting up their efforts and bringing their numbers down. It still wasn't the end all solution to their problem. Some still managed to break through the gate at the wall and worse, there seemed to be particular humans among the ground.
Which made sense why some of them were still standing and able to complete such feats. Meelo still found a grin on his face as he directed the hose away from those on the wall and instead to the intruders, specifically picking off the ones clearly Hunter made.
Liya cracked her knuckles while her grin grew wide. Hunters made for a much, much more fun target. Daggers out, Liya lunged and was a flurry of blades and feathers. Of course, she had to divert some of the attacks at her and ended up damaging the Embassy's edifice.
They still kept coming in droves, their numbers still posing an immediate threat. Enough for him to finally release the hose and join the fray (it ended up causing its own portion of damage to the building as it was).
Meelo didn't consider drawing a weapon of sorts, instead used his fists and brawn to finally thin the herd that had come looking for a fight. There were bodies on the ground, mostly unconscious, by the end of it as he threw a punch against the skull of a Hunter. Many had gotten wise to retreat, pulling along wounded and those able to be moved. He surveyed the scene with whistle, "'ey, not bad... half the building is still standing, ya." He would call it a success.

Liya was still having fun kicking, punching, stabbing, and beating the ever loving s**t out of the hunters and some of the humans. It took her some time to calm down from the bloodlust to realize their shift was over.
"Whew, um, okay, good job everyone~" she dusted her hands and headed back.
