It was another day of cleaning a painting, but this time he'd been handed something far more delicate than the large framed one from before. Today, he was set in front of a small frame, thin with a great deal of filigree. Inside of the frame was a thin, old painting. It was worn and looked like it was fading. This was the delicate work Adelaide must have been talking about when she took him down before.
He was given q-tips again, but reminded several times that the piece was very old and delicate. Too much pressure would go right through the canvas or wear off the paint.
He was being left with a very delicate, and beautiful piece. He was so honored.
At first, Adelaide stopped him within 5 minutes. Already she told him he was pushing too hard, and needed a lighter touch. He wasn't insulted by the insinuation - he knew it was difficult to make him do light work. Her words were taken into consideration, and he began the featherlight touch that she recommended. Soon enough, she nods and tells him he's doing excellent work.
He spent the next few hours painstakingly cleaning the painting with
pride.
