Up with the early morning sun, Anya was as happy as could be at this particular moment. She wasn't normally one to be up at the crack of dawn, but she was new to the pride, having officially joined recently, and wanted to explore a bit more. Taking in the smell of the ocean nearby, she sighed contentedly and then trotted foward. She was making her way through the jungle now, trying to head towards the river that she'd been told about. While the sea wasn't a good source of drinking water, supposedly the river was, and that's what she wanted to see today!

Hopping down from a ledge, the lioness paused to take a whiff of the air, trying to pinpoint her goal. There were some weird scents in the air right now. Some of which she didn't recognize... but she just shrugged and decided to investigate them later. There was bound to be new things she didn't know about here. Better to focus on what she was currently looking for.

... Or maybe one of those scents was what she was looking for.... She shook her head and kept walking. No, she was looking for a river, so it stands to reason that she would smell water. And none of that smelled like water to her.

...... She really hoped she wasn't lost.

Conburnycus had decided to stay. He had wandered on to the sands accidentally, drawn by the weird scent of the salty water and the soft pale sand. He'd just happened to tumble over the dunes and when his eyes had met the sea he had decided to stay. Convenient, there was a pride here. He hadn't known of course, he honestly had just been following his nose for a long time now wandering to new places meeting new creatures, taking his sweet time and just letting his paws take him where they would.

Upon arriving at the sea though he decided his wandering days were over and having spent a couple of days speaking to the prides elders, some cubs, playing in the sea, catching fish and sleeping a lot, the salty air sure made him sleepy, he had ultimately decided here would be home.

He had possessed a similar thought to the lioness that was tromping through the jungle behind him today, he wanted to find the river. He had found it and without a moments hesitation he had gone and tipped himself in to it. The river sort of reminded him of where he was born, in places it ran fast but here, where he sat, it ran slow and his movements had kicked up the mud so the clear water was clouded with plumes of mud. It reminded him of the swamp, a home he could never return to.

His ears twitched as he finally heard movement behind him and he turned his peach maned head to lay eyes upon a flash of bronze fur. "Hullo?" He called, his head tilting curiously, perhaps he had been imagining it. Were there ghosts here as there were in the swamps? Hmmmm, well maybe he would wait and they would come to him, he had never been much of a seeker of spirits.

Curiosity was about to win out. Anya was beginning to worry that she might have gotten herself lost, and she wanted to know what those scents were. She continued to pad a bit slowly through the tree, before deciding that she didn't know where the river was anyway. Why not go investigate the thing she did know! Nodding in satisfaction at her conclusion, she swiveled on her front paws, her jewelry jingling in the process, and began walking in the direction she'd smelled the new thing.

It wasn't long before she realized that there was the smell of water - and it was right where the new smell was! What luck! She could kill two birds with one stone. Picking up her pace, she grew excited at the sound of trickling water, just now realizing how parched she was.

The lioness paused though at the sound of a voice ahead of her. She lifted her head to give another sniff, and that's when it occurred to her that the "new scents" must have actually been someone currently at the river. It must be one of her fellow Bahari! Ears flicking up, she responded back with a cheerful, "Hello," and then trotted out into the open.

It was definitely another lion, sitting out in the water. She wasn't sure why he was sitting in the water, but it looked like fun. Maybe he was hot? It was pretty warm here, so she could see that being the case. With a purr, she walked closer to the edge of the river. "A fine day today, wouldn't you say?"

Coburnycus smiled as the female made her way out of the trees. "I thought you were a spirit for a second there." Was his response, a sigh of relief left his maw and he swivelled in the water to look at the soft brown femme. He found it amusing that he had jumped to the conclusion that she must have been a spirit. Growing up in the swamps, he supposed had a big influence on him. Of course it would be something physical, a lion, or even a monkey or something else could have come from the trees. The fur on the back of his neck prickled and he rolled his shoulders to rid himself of the feeling. There were no spirits here.

Grinning broadly the silver male flickered his tail in the water causing droplets to flick through the air. "It is a beautiful day." He nods an affirmative, his deep green eyes dancing happily. It was nice to see another, and she was very pretty. "You, are very pretty." He states, he had never been one to hold his thoughts in his head, he found things went much more smoothly if you just stated what you thought, well, most of the time. "I have never seen jewellery like that before." Again a pause while he considered his next course of action.

"Do you want to join me? The water is lovely here, it reminds me of the swamp when you kick up the mud."

Anya swished her tail back and forth as she came to a stop by the water's edge. She chuckled at his spirit comment, amused at the idea of being one, and then bashfully tilted her ears back at his next statement of being pretty. "Thanks, you're pretty too." She especially liked his mane - it was such a nice, soft color. "You can probably thank my parents for my looks though." She giggled, "I just take care of the upkeep."

She paused here to glance down at her jewelry, before lifting one of her paws up to show the beads. "Oh, these are from my old pride. I used to be a Dawnwalker, and just about everyone had them." She sighed wistfully here, gazing away for a second. While she was ecstatic to find a new pride, she did miss her old home. There was nothing to go back to now though, except perhaps the desert. But that was a harsh place to live in by yourself.

Giving herself a shake, she looked back at the silver and black male. Nodding, she grinned and said, "I'd love to join you!" She dipped a paw in while continuing, "I've never really heard of a swamp before. Is it nice?" Then, without further ado, the brown lioness hopped forward and splashed into the water so all four paws were in the river. Humming happily, she leaned down to take a few gulps of fresh water and then proceeded to walk about, kicking up mud beneath her paws.

"Pretty?" He chuckled, he had never been called pretty his whole life and it amused as well as bemused him, he supposed his mane was towards a more feminine colour, but pretty? Well he was okay with it if the lioness thought so.

He listened attentively when she said that her jewellery was from her old pride, a pride where jewellery was made for you? He didn't find it that unusual, he had passed by many prides and troupes and packs in his wanderings and they all had different traditions, he had even spent a short time near a pride that built instruments. He had never heard of the dawn walkers but he knew what it was like to lose ones pride.

"The swamp is no longer there, a great fire split the pride apart." He paused fro a moment, and allowed th emoment of mourning to pass. He could not be sad about his pride, though many had perished and many had dispersed, he had survived as had most of his family. They had simply gone their separate ways. "I miss the swamps but this place, it holds on to me with both paws and refuses to let go." He chuckles watching as she fancied in to the waves. He reminded her of a water spirit the way she moved. "It is good to find a place that fits even if you miss your old home. The sea has many beautiful things." He grins a sweet, playful grin "My name is Coburnycus, most folk call me Burny though. Does the water nymph of the dawn walkers possess a name?" He raised a playful brow "Or are you really a spirit from the trees?" He chuckles, he felt very comfortable around this kindred spirit, someone else who had lost their home but found some where new to call home.

The lioness was perhaps having more fun than she should for someone her age (as well as for someone just walking around in water), but she was never one to turn away from something enjoyable. She was also still getting used to being around so much water. This wasn't nearly as much as the ocean, which fascinated her every time she went there, but it was still more than what she encountered at her old home. Although, now that she thought about it, the desert did have it's own river, so maybe it wasn't so different. It honestly had been so long that she wasn't sure which is bigger.

She looked back up as he continued speaking. Her ears pulled back as he described what happened to the swamps, and she nodded after a moment. "I'm sorry. I would have liked to see it someday." Then, she perked back up, "But you're right. This place is beautiful, and I'm happy I, or well, we found it."

At his introduction, Anya giggled, "Perhaps I am. Though if I were a spirit, a spirit of sand would probably be more accurate." She had also never been called a water nymph before, but she found that she wasn't against the name. Narrowing her eyes coyly, she waded a bit closer and playfully splashed a bit of water at him, "Anya. My name is Anya, and it's good to meet you Burny." Then she hopped a few steps away.

The chubby silver male laughed gently. A sand nymph? He supposed thats as fitting for someone living by the sea, after all, water was not the only thing that the bahari'mtoto boasted.

He watched her frolic about in the water and he couldn't help but admire the way she moved, she was much sleeker than he, probably much sleeker than the females in his family too, they all leaned towards the stocky side, stocky being a polite way to put it. When she looked his way with that demure look on her maw, he almost forgot how to speak. He wasn't exactly used to girls flirting with him, he had never been much of a ladies man, though that didn't mean he was foolish in the ways of girls. He had certainly admired them, though it was usually from afar. Hearing his name spoken by the sand nymph though, made him smile shyly. She really was a beautiful looking lady, and she understood, she understood that sometimes prides didn't survive.

Flicking the splashes of water out of his mane, the silver male broke in to laughter "Oh I'll get you for that Anya!" He jumps to his paws causing a cataclysm of water to erupt around him, luckily he bright no mud up with him, which in the swamps would have been guaranteed, but here, the water was usually clear unless you really dug it up. Pouncing after her he landed with a whimper beside her kicking up a fresh spray of sparkling water which washed not only his coat but the coat of the. Deep brown lioness too. "New homes, new friends, there is no greater joy."

Anya gave a cheerful laugh, delighted that he was joining in on her play. She liked being around people who were good-natured like this. It made life more enjoyable, and with how short and trying life could get, the world needed more happiness in it. She trotted through the water, letting the water soak through her fur while keeping an eye on where Burny was.

She'd never really been one to look at another romantically, flirting or otherwise. Most times, she was too oblivious to really notice it happening to her. In fact, this had been the last thing on her mind walking here, and it was something she wasn't sure how to approach now. She could tell that she liked this male though, and she had no qualms with continuing to see where it went. It helped that they had a few things in common already. She sincerely did wish that she could have seen his old home, just like how she wished that she could show him her's. But both were beyond their reach now.

Hopping to a stop in the water, she shook herself out almost violently and then crouched down playfully, the river water brushing against her chin as it went past. Her tail swished happily behind her, as she purred back, "I was actually going to try my hand at fishing today, if you'd like to join me." She cocked her head to the side, "I've never done it before, and I'd like to see what fish tastes like."

Sounds good! I shall wrap it up ^^!

Burny smiled at the tan and brown lioness and gave a nod "I like to fish, we used to catch a lot of little fish and frogs in the swamps. I'm sure we can dig up some frogs as well as fish and maybe some salt water shrimps. We used to hunt langoustines all the time." He paused for a moment, he was rambling. He supposed it was harder to let go of your old home than he thought and speaking to her, she had made him think about the past, it wasn't a bad thing but the future was in front of him he couldn't keep looking back it was too upsetting.

Shaking his head he once again gave her a crooked but friendly smile. "Come on I'll show you where I always fish, it's the easiest place." Taking a few steps down the shallow river the coral maned male let out a quiet sigh casting away any thoughts of the past and of sad times.

"I'll catch you the biggest fish Anya." He promises hopping off through the trees pausing only to make sure she was following before heading off back down to the beach and the fishing spot he had discovered his first day.
