Vin was very much for helping in a lab, and despite all the uselessly tight clothes he had to wear to appear human, donning on a lab coat was just soothing to him. The lab was much like the Famine labs, though far more modern and pristine and with less of an array of animals. However, what they did have ranged in sizes from small rodents to horses. It was startling for him to think they would have horses here, and he wasn't really interested in looking at them.

Reaching into a tank, he took a guine pig in his hands and beamed at his partner. "Days like this are always good days. We keep going. Some do not." And he beamed at he held up the rodent. "We shall see who."

He set the pig down and slowly took a syringe and injected it with a measured amount of gene therapy. Releasing, he reached for his clipboard and waited, watching it for some time as he glanced at Noah.

"Is yours dead yet?"

Noah didn't mind human clothes. Clothes were clothes, after all, serving to cover and decorate one's body, and the human clothes were just another mode. He did like the labcoats, clean and white and pristine as they were, and he put his on with pleasure.

His experimental subject was also pleasing in its own way, much like a mount, although significantly less skeletal than his own. Its bones were nicely covered with muscle and skin, and he was to experiment with making it stronger. It was sluggish and drugged, and he felt no particular nervousness as he slipped a needle into one of its veins and deftly performed the injection.

He slipped out of the testing chamber to watch the subject through the window, and nodded respectfully to Vin as the other male spoke to him. "Some do not. Some do," he answered, and looked back at the horse. "It is not dead yet. We shall see."

Vin nodded and continued to watch for another minute.

Then, slowly, he leaned in again. "Is your's dead yet?"

"It's not dissolving from the inside out," Noah observed. He sounded faintly disappointed about this non-development. "Is yours?"

The horse seemed to be recovering slowly from whatever sedative it had been dosed with to make the initial augmentation injection possible. It snorted and shook its head dizzily. The railing to which the horse was tied wobbled slightly with its movement.

Noah made notes.

When the horse shook its head again and pulled against its restraints, the railing visibly bowed under the pull. Another pull, and the railing deformed slightly. Noah hummed with satisfaction and made more notes. "A success, I think," he reported aloud.

Vin stared at his guine pig with a hum and a frown. "It is not dead. It is not doing anything. It is not very bright."

He looked at the horse rose up and started to pull it's restraints against the bars. Bitter about Jordan's success, Vin went to take a scalpel and then stabbed at the guine pig to end what he decided was a failure.

It instead jumped, squeaking at him and the scalpel. Curious, he stabbed again, and again the guine pig jumped quickly out of the way. This went on for a minute before Vin stopped. "We think it is faster in noticing?"

Noah watched with interest as the hapless rodent dodged Vin's stabs. "It is certainly getting out of the way very quickly," he observed. "Perhaps a success? I don't think they are normally that fast."

"We think so too as we usually can get them after a few tries." He smiled back at Noah. "Not like we both didn't know we would be doing well. We are both smart."

"We are," Noah agreed with satisfaction. "Shall we report our successes?"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 12, 2017 8:04 pm

"Yes. Good idea." He started to fill out the questionnaire and set it down into the submission box with the other reports along with the specimen information and vile number used.

"Maybe we can go see what else is around?"

Please describe how today's events made you feel emotionally.
Dissatisfied - specimen showed a lack of protruding limbs, spare heads, and did not combust.

Do you think the targeted genes are useful?
It is now harder to stab. It would be more useful on something worth not stabbing.

Did you have any ethical problems with the work done today?
We have mixed feelings that it is still able to live after such a poor display of gratitude for what we did for it.

If they can be extrapolated to other subjects, they are likely very useful.
