Quote: [ JOB LISTING ] Guard [ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star [ TASK ] Thing's are getting a bit heated near one of the embassies, and additional guards are needed.
Quote: One of the side effects of having War clan members visiting often is that sometimes they have an effect on the local populace. Which isn't necessarily terrible, but embassy buildings don't grow on trees. Except for the wooden ones, maybe, but those are extremely flammable. Anyway, calls for extra gaurds at the various embassies aren't uncommon, and this time it's Edict herself who takes notice of you. "Go help." Conquest isn't one to mince words, to be honest, but ignoring them isn't wise. Pick any city in the world to have this take place and roll 3d4 for three prompts. You can have your character try to duck out of guard duty instead by rolling 1d10. 1-9 they get caught and you need to write all 4 prompts instead. Roll a 10 and they successfully don't get caught, after a fun day in the city causing a ruckus, they get back and join in time to receive pay and commendation for a job well done.
Embassy HP: 1000 A crude bomb of some sort is lobbed over the wall. You can choose to try tossing it over, defusing it, or containing the explosion. Roll 1d4 - even is successful, odd is a failure. Failure costs the embassy 250 HP A rioting mob storms the doors, there are literal torches and pitchforks being waved about. It's actually kind of charming, but this is no time for nostalgic remembrance! Fight them off, persuade them, or barricade the building. Roll 1d4 - even is successful, odd is a failure. Failure costs the embassy 250 HP (but no need to continue rolling for this prompt!) Hunters have infiltrated the battle zone, discreetly joining the human attacks. Pick them out and pick them off as best you can. Roll 6d100 to determine how much damage the hunters (and possibly you yourself) cause before you get rid of them A War Heir has gone happily berserk at the fighting and transformed into a fifty foot monster horse. Roll 1d100 to soothe them. If you roll any number containing 1 or 9, you succeed. If you don't, then that number is the damage taken by the embassy. Continue rolling until they are successfully soothed.
Should the embassy fall, Edict shows a quiet display of disappointment in you and has you removed from her sight for the rest of the day.

Guarding seemed like it could be an interesting sort of job even if it meant possibly just standing around all day. Which was boring. But guarding was in her official job description anyways, it was in her blood and what she was so totally meant to do. And maybe if she picked the right city there could be exciting stuff happening for the day.
"You got it boss!" The mare chirped with a very exaggerated salute. Sure, she might look very small and young (which wasn't even brought up at all) and not in the most appropriate attire but she had somehow acquired a new pair of really snazzy sunglasses. They were thick and black and looked very much a guard person's sunglasses.
Where she had ended up was not where she had imagined she would. Because when one heard the name 'Iceland' they would have expected ice everywhere, right? No, it was very green here and the embassy in question was almost very remote with nothing but rolling hills as far as the eye could see and capital very far away. "Rey..ka jav.. vurvur....k" She tried to pronounce, giving up somewhere in the middle.
The hell was this place.

Honestly, being where she was Elaia couldn't even imagine that there would have been an embassy in the area in the first place. The name was practically unpronounceable and the location seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere with barely any humans around. How were there even Horsemen here? Did they like the seclusion?
Perhaps this was going to be a dull gig after all.
Or so she thought.
Over the wall, whilst she was about to lean against her post, some make shift sort of item found itself lobbied right on over. Oh something! It was hard to tell if it was friendly or not being as far as she was from the entrance so a skipping she did go to check out what it was.
"A bomb!" She sounded much too excited for something that could potentially destroy the building she was supposed to defend. Throwing it back didn't seem like there would have been enough time, nor did she have any knack in trying to diffuse it (haha, even though she had totally managed to make tiny little cameras). Containing it seemed like a viable option but Elaia was also not well versed with the subject matter. Like that took skills above and beyond just hitting things.
Which she decided to try instead. With all her might, Elaia kicked the thing, trying to go back to option number one. It hit the wall and ricocheted back to the embassy and then blew up.
Well s**t.

Those working inside (more than Elaia had imagined there were) were not too pleased with how she had been handling everything thus far. The building had shook but still remained standing despite how old it looked and unstable.
"You need better bomb stuff!" Elaia responded with a wrinkle of her face. Who didn't have good bomb stuff (well, she didn't).
The bomb, it seemed, was the signal. The start to the chaos that the boss lady person ma'am had hired the extra hands on deck for. The gates clanged violently as a herd of people - probably the whole island thing, she could only guess - slammed into it. It swung open and droves came through all yelling with anger over nothing and some even carrying weapons.
A few of the other guards that had come along (where were they with the bomb!?) began their work, subduing as many as they can. Elaia stood their elated at the idea of a fight before she joined in to throw some fists at some dumb humans. But out of the corner of her eye she spotted the tall tale sign of a Hunter. "Aa!" She beelined and kicked them in the groin.
Another one was spotted not too far, an evil intent on their fact as she launched herself forward to throw a punch into their gut. Hunters were involved! YAY! (Even though some totally got through and were further ruining the embassy).

It only appeared to be a first wave that had descended upon the still standing embassy. The second that arrived was mightier and thus more of a challenge. Which was accepted with a wide grin.
Elaia began to lose track of the Hunters who had blended in with the angry mob of Icelandic people and simply began attacking anyone that crossed her path. It probably wasn't the best of plans, the Hunters had more fire power and prowess and were able to muster actual damage to the building itself. It was often too late for anyone to do anything for the structure until they were finally taken out.
Some of the guards managed to arm themselves with various weapons to help with the cause, sticks and stones and taser guns were shot off all around her but the little Guardian stuck with her fists. By the time the last man was down, her knuckles were raw and there was various spots of blood on her person; both hers and from mysterious others. She was out of breath but hopped up on adrenaline. "That all you got?!" She shouted into the air with her arms flailing above her head.
Several of the guards made comments, only one seemed to share her thrill of the battle. The others were relieved it was all over with for now. That their building still managed to stand even though it was in shambles. But they would be able to rebuild. Maybe. Hopefully. There wasn't that much left (they might as well just build a new one).
You can go, someone told her followed with a pleading please. It was hard to tell if she actually helped in their request for aid or actually ended up doing more damage.
Elaia returned back to the headquarters of the company, still littered with the souvenirs of battle as she collected her pay with a bright grin. Yay, that was fun.
