It was perfect, the sun, the sand, the way his skin burned under the heat as he slipped between the dunes tracking the hunters his little friends had whispered to him about. There was no need for modernization here. It was simple, clean, and good spirited work that required only a Horsemen with no disguise or gimmick.
It hadn't taken long for him to fall back into a normal working routine, even with the fuzzy gaps in memory he knew it was his job to scout and so he did just that. Tiny scorpions. winged locust, and other unsavory creations scoured the sands till they found his pray.
Voice ahead, a whispering buzz in his ear promising a hunter camp. He dug into the nearest sand dune much like a bug digging his way through to the other side just barely peeking out... along with a phone.
Okay there was some uses for Modernization.
He snapped a series of photos flipping through contacts till he found the perfect hunter.

Rep didn’t mind the desert too much, it was better than the cold, the searing sands unfriendly to bare feet but hardly out to make him too uncomfortable. The air made you thirsty but beyond that it wasn’t unbearable. And even regardless of the weather, he didn’t much mind helping people out who asked for it. Fighting was probably one of his favourite things to do so it didn’t take too much prompting to have him out on the sands helping another horseman hunt the humans down.
Following the co-ordinates on his phone, Rep hopped across the sands, clearing huge distances at a leap thanks to his broad powerful wings. He was in peak physical condition and barely touched the ground other than to give himself momentum to soar up and up again. He was glad to not have to wear the uncomfortable clothes he was forced to don for other missions and instead had his every tattoo and scar in full display, the skulls and bones around him clanking as he went.
“Well found.” He said briskly to the other horseman when he arrived. “Do they have a shield?”

Rohim had taken to the far side of the sand dune, safer there then peaking out from inside and it left him in the full light of the sun warming his flesh as he waited for Rep's arrival. It didn't take long, a spec in the distance, hazy in the deserts heat seeming to hop from dune to dune, one would almost mistake it for some kind of bird diving towards it's prey.
Alas, the prey this bird would hunt wouldn't have a chance to run.
"Many thanks for the compliment," he said a delighted hum of of many buzzing wings. "Yes. Not a strong one, easily broken I imagine. The faster we brake the less time they have to escape."
That said he drew his hand away from the sand a long scythe appearing, the blade battered and crude, the grip of the weapon seemed to be carved from old bone.
"They have those pesky ones, the big ones," he paused looking up at the sun, "Ah yes. Sun Hunters." He mumbled, "More good reasons to call War."
t was something else Rep liked about the desert, the sand made it tough for the hunters to set up a decent perimeter, the shifting sands seeming to foil their efforts to maintain barrier daggers. It was something he was familiar with given how many hunter camps he’d helped to dismantle in his life and he was glad to hear that by the sound of it once again they’d come up with a feeble effort. Humans never learned.
“First up we find the daggers. You are famine, this is your lands, your specialist skill here will be very useful. Look in the sand around the edge of the barrier, find the hidden daggers and break them. Each one you break will weaken it further."
He grinned, making his way over to whack the shield with his sword, finding its boundary and pursuing it along.
Rohim would have agreed to that train of thought, it was so much more simple than say a city or a place of stone. Sure the daggers would be easier to see dug into solid ground, but in turn they ended up being more reliant, harder to break and dislodge. Moving sand was his friend, it made the buzzing network of bugs he unleashed to track the hunters easily hidden as well. All around the barrier a small horde of strange creatures poked and prodded at the edges in smaller impacts than Rep’s weapon.
“We are looking as you speak…. They have many I assume, to make up for a lack of solid ground.” He let out a low hum sinking his hands into the sand peaking openly over the dune as Rep proudly walked over to smash his weapon to the barrier proper. The way the light moved maybe, there?
He stood up, or rather crouched, hidden wings unfolding to flick a few times launching him towards the barrier before hooking his scythe on a loose dagger tugging causing the barrier to flicker harder where his blade hooked.
“Ahhh pesky thing…. Rep?” He looked over at the hunter eager to bring the hulking warriors attention to the annoying blade. “It’s deep, hooked it,” he pat the sand with a hand, “Destroy it.” he said with a wicked grin.
