So far, Liya had only seen to her fellow War Clansmen and she thought that was only natural and normal. She was, after all, a Warrior of War. But the days of clan-exclusivity were long gone and she'd been on several missions with members from other clans. And now that she was sure those she knew from her clan were awake and not having strange, unsettling dreams, it was time for her to see if her friends from other clans were doing alright.

Which was why she made her way to the Conquest Rooms. She made a beeline for the training space, even if she wasn't sure the Nobleman would be there. That was what their phones were for, right?

The rest of the message was a string of various smiling faces and the odd bird icon.

Tanita had been standing at the window of her room, staring out over the Dusk, at the Crystal specifically. The red glare of it was both hypnotic and disturbing. Green. It had been green before, in what she remembered as 'yesterday'. She was still bothered by this terrible lack of memory. Just one day, but it somehow managed to take on the importance of so much more time. Maybe it was because it was missing to everyone, but it was terrible. Part of her wanted to fight, scream, and rage, though she kept her cool on the outside. The other part of her wanted to hide in her room and not leave. After all, whatever caused this had to be incredibly powerful, and what was she next to something that could change the Crystal and remove memories of the masses?

Then her phone buzzed, startling her out of her semi-hypnotized state. She turned towards it, and picked it up, curious as to who had contacted her. When she saw Liya's message, her face broke into a smile. The war horseman was definitely some one she'd leave her room for, despite her nerves. And the emoticons just made her chuckle.

She pulled off her houserobe, and changed into something more suitable for being out and about. Training grounds, though? Hmmm, better wear something she could be active in. She quickly changed, and pulled her hair back into a tail, with a silver clasp holding it in place, and pulled a belt pouch on to pop her phone and other important things into, then raced down to the field. "Liya!" She called out, once the other horseman came into view.

The idea of clothing had been something of a point of contention for Liya. Having wings meant your clothing required an entirely different structure as opposed to the wingless. And generally speaking, clothes were uncomfortable as ******** for most War horsemen. Receiving the response, Liya couldn't help but type back.

Quote:
Message to Tanita
Wat? Y? U dnt gotta. Clothes r dum.

Was she serious or was she joking? The near-perpetual grin on her face suggested the latter but Liya really wasn't the sort to gasp or clutch at pearls when seeing someone in a state of undress. But sometimes, even she had to admit, some of the fabrics and patterns the Conquest Horsemen had on their person were really pretty.

Like now, when Tanita appeared. Liya's wings spread open and she glided on over to give her friend a hug.

Message to Liya
I get cold! RLLY cold, 'member? Skinny!

Tani grinned at Liya and gave her a big hug back. "Hello! It's been too long, it feels like." She pauses, then adds "Of course, everything feels weird, time wise, right now... To me at least." She suddenly found herself wondering if she was the only one who felt like that missing day represented a HUGE gap. And then another thought suddenly popped into her head. What if... what if it had actually been more then a day? Who knew if whatever power did this could make it only SEEM like one missing day, by... No she was not going down that mental route. She already was dealing with enough worries in this situation.

She had no idea that her internal AAAA moment had appeared on her face, and so as far as she was concerned, her appearance had remained serenely pleased during that moment of panic. "Do you have any recollections from yesterday, or are you as blank as the rest of us?" She couldn't help but hope that the answer would be yes. It would be so much less terrifying if just... one person remembered something. "If not, of course, I understand. Still. It's quite... unnerving, wouldn't you say?" She sighed, and wrapped her robe closer to herself, and glanced out the windows towards the red Crystal, then snapped her eyes back to Liya. She was not going to spend this time with her friend by staring obsessively at that damned thing. She was NOT.

The phone buzzing went ignored for a time as Tani's arrival meant Liya was giving her friend her undivided attention. If whoever was messaging her had something urgent, they'd call her, right?

"Awww, you did put on clothes," she teasingly whined. "They look good on you though." The hug was returned, with interest because let it be known that Liya does not skimp on affection. She also doesn't skimp on violence and sometimes confuses the two but she can be trusted to refrain when dealing with other Clansmen. Usually. Tani should be safe.

"I know whatcha mean! This whole memory loss thingy," she waved her arm around them in a vague gesture, "You kinda worry if it was just yesterday or if there were more days and how could you be sure, right? Cuz you already forgot about a day and who knows if you've forgotten other Clansmen." Despite the paranoia-inducing direction their conversation was taking, Liya seemed as upbeat and cheerful as ever.

If she took issue with Tani looking over to the red crystal, Liya said nothing of it. Instead, she leaned in to whisper, "I like it better red than green."

"I... yes, that's part of what I've been worrying about. How much did each of us actually lose? How can we know?" She paused, then added "And will it happen again, too?" She shuddered at the very idea of having another incident like this. It would be utterly horrifying, if they kept having days where they lost their memories, over and over again. "And of course I put clothes on my skinny bones! I don't want to freeze." She gave a bit of a laugh, and shook her head. "Or did the incident cause you to forget how cold I get, silly?" She beamed at the compliment, and smoothed her robe with a smile. "I do try to take pride in my clothes looking right. I must do my kin proud, after all."

She looked back at the crystal, at the red, then looked at Liya and whispered "It's... hypnotic, almost, for me. I like red..." She brushed her fingers along the red in her robes. "But somehow, I find myself staring at it and getting... lost in thought about it, almost unable to look away, unless something distracts me." She closed her eyes, and added "Your visit was perfectly timed, and your text broke me out of the revery I had been trapped in." She smiled and opened her eyes again, her expression showing her worry. "What if... that's how it got us, though? Some how... causing us to stare, and hypnotizing us or something?" She paused, then shook her head. "No, I shouldn't get too far-fetched in this."

Liya brought out her phone, "Maybe the Dorothy-thingy in our phone can get an upgrade from Famine? Make recording stuff easier? I dunno, that's Famine's job to think right? I usually only care how sturdy these phones are."

At the "accusation" of forgetting Tani's predicament (in that she needed clothing), Liya gave a feigned look of shock. "Oh noooo, you're right! I might have forgotten it!" (She didn't but it was fun to tease Tani.) "Maybe you should put on all the Modernization clothing! Even mine!" Was she trying to foist them onto someone else? Maybe.

But her joshing and joking tapered off somewhat when Tanita brought up the possibility of the crystal being the cause. Uncharacteristically grim, Liya studied her friend, then the large red gem that was meant to process FEAR, then back to Tani. "Maybe we should talk about it somewhere we can't look directly at the crystal? Duck for cover and stuff," she suggested.

"A recording function on the phone would not be a bad idea. I'm slightly unnerved by Dorothy, though. Something about 'her' just feels scary, and a little off. I don't know why." Her eyes widened, just thinking about waking up and dealing with Dorothy. "It felt a little too... connected to ME, not just my phone, you know? And I don't want something in my head. Especially after... everything. I'm worried enough about what happened, the idea of something else messing around in there is just horrifying." She ran one of her long fingers along one of her horns, a tense expression on her normally relaxed face. "This... I just... It's scary."

"Oh no, I can pass. Modernization... ugh." She shuddered, lightly. "I have some of these modern things they call clothes. I will wear them in the human world, if I must, but oh they are just so utterly unattractive." She shook her head, and sighed. "Those 'sweaters' are just so constricting. I love my long, flowing robes, the way they move with me. And let's not discuss the utter lack of style."

"Yeeeeees. Away from the windows sounds like a wonderful plan. I would be very happy not to have to see it for some time." She paused, then added "I wonder if any of the stores nearby have blackout curtains. It would make being in my rooms easier, if I could prevent myself from seeing it." She shuddered, then turned towards the inner parts of the common area. If they looked, they were sure to find an interior room with no windows to the outside world. She hoped.

For reasons unknown to Liya, she didn't seem to mind Dorothy all that much. A part of her felt like the AI was an upgraded version of something, or someone else, but that was ridiculous because she was very certain that Famine has only ever released Dorothy, right?

She was pleased to start heading elsewhere, "Lead on then, Tani~" her wing gestured for the Conquest Horseman to take the first steps. "Oooh I know what you mean about those clothes! None of them seem designed to account for wings!" at this, hers flapped in indignity for not being considered. "And there are no furs! No pelts! The leathers aren't being used for armor," she shook her head in disappointment. "The whole thing is a downright crying shame. How do humans think they're any good?"

Tanita turned, and studied the area thoughtfully. "Perhaps... a gazebo at the very center of the water pavilion? It might be far enough from the windows." She pondered. "I want blackout curtains though, seriously. If you hear of anyone selling any, please let me know." She began to walk towards the pavilion area, looking at her friend thoughtfully, as Liya spoke about the clothing styles. She gave a slight smile, internally amused at the serious differences in tastes, clan to clan. Part of her wondered if a child from War clan would have those same tastes EVEN if they were raised, for some reason, by Conquest parents. Was it nature, or nurture? An interesting thought, and one to research later. If no studies on the subject had been done, she wondered if it would be possible for one to happen.

Probably not. The clans involved would probably have a fit. A pity, it would be interesting to find out. And then she dragged her mind back to the conversation at hand, because drifting off into random thoughts might help her not think about the situation but it did make her a rude conversational partner. "Well I don't know about the wings." She shrugged her wing-free shoulders, but nodded. "Not something I have ever experienced. But... I can imagine that WOULD be a challenge. It's certainly hard to get the blasted things on over my horns." She gestured at the large pair on her head, with an annoyed sigh. "I admit, pelts and all aren't really to my taste? I prefer silks, and brocades. But... Such plain things they tend towards!"

Liya knew each clan had their own issues with clothing, as Tani mentioned about her horns. There were times the War horseman would have wanted to have a pair of her own, they would surely come in handy during fights. They'd be like an extra set of weapons! Butting heads or stabbing them into your opponents, ooooh that sounded like fun! Maybe she should think about investing in a helmet of sorts with spikes!

"I ever find a shop with those curtains you want, I'll send you a message as soon as I can!" she promised, following after her friend. And as their conversation deepened further into clothing, "But don't you have the hardest time getting those types of fabrics cleaned? I mean, our last mission together had not been exactly neat and even I spent some time combing out and brushing my things to wearable levels," she chuckled wryly.

Lady Aria Starstone
I hereby dub said mission as The Noodle Incident XDD but feel free to give it a different name

Tanita laughed and shook her head. "The clothes I wear while on Missions are made of Cotton, and other easily washable fabrics, because they MIGHT get dirty, or bloody. Sure, they're patterned... I might downgrade on material but I will avoid downgrading their looks if I can at all manage it... But washable, and generally not too expensive, so if it's permanently stained, I do not feel terrible throwing them out, or turning them into cleaning rags." She winced but laughed at Liya's mention of the blasted Noodle Incident. "Oh the hours I spent getting things out of my hair from that... I hope that I never end up on a mission with that IDIOT we were partnered with again." She snorted in annoyance, and shook her head, her long hair loose for the day, an unusual state for her. "Whatever did he think he was doing in that kitchen, anyways? Did he ever explain it so that anyone at all understood?"

She paused, and looked around at the pavilions they'd come upon, then made a satisfied AH sound, before pointing at one right in the middle. "I think that one will be perfect. We'll have nice views of the water, the plants, and the fish, but it's placed so that the windows aren't visible at all, don't you think?" She began to move down the path that led to it, her robe pulled tight so as to avoid any risk of the silk trailing into the water and getting ruined.

Huni Pi
I like it! The Noodle Incident is perfect.
