Class Activity SENIOR:Weight
“Resizing objects is all good and well, but is not always practical, depending on the end result you're looking for. Building off our last lesson, today I want you increase or decrease the weight of an object without altering its size. Follow my examples on how to do so, then grab a weight from my desk and begin. I'll be wandering around the room to examine your work.” Rules Fill out the form below completely - be sure to include the prompt! Once you have posted your reply you may consider this class "complete". This class may grant you perks in the Battle Arena! Only quote Green Minuet if you are looking for an in character response from Strider. Username: Nightmare/Daydream: Prompt:
Just as Strider said, today the class is learning how to decrease or increase the weight of an object. Everyone has been provided with a small weight that they can choose to either make heavier or lighter. When they are finished, they should call over Strider to inspect their work. The more effective their spell the better their grade!
***How to Play: (You may remove everything inside the asterisks from your post!)
The objective of this game is to reach as high or low a number as possible. Players may RNG -50 through 50 anywhere from 1 to 3 times. Any number above 0 counts towards increasing weight. Any number below 0 counts towards decreasing weight. If you RNG'd more than once add your results together for your final score. Include a minimum of 100 words of your character responding to the prompt. This can be spread across multiple posts or condensed into one.
Note: Gaia displays RNG with negative numbers in a weird way. The action text will read as generating a number between 50 and 51, but the actual result will be between the correct parameters.
Note: If you succeed with achieve an end result of -50 or lower, OR +50 or higher you may add the spell "Weight" to your spellbook. You may make multiple attempts in order to learn the spell, however each attempt must include another 100 word response.***
Username: smolderingskies Nightmare/Daydream: Maeve Prompt: Quote: Today's class activity is all about resizing... shrinking, specifically. Strider has tasked the class with shrinking their desks. While it may take a few tries, he expects each one to eventually be small enough that he can fit it on top of his thumbnail. Yikes! He informs everyone that time is of little importance here and to take as long as they like. Prompt Response: Maeve wasn't very talented at magic, but she did want to learn. She wanted to be able to take care of herself as well as possible. And a resizing spell was nothing fancy - but it was something, and that's what counted. She concentrated very hard, and focused all her energy at the desk, thinking about its particles folding up and getting smaller...

He informs everyone that time is of little importance here and to take as long as they like. Prompt Response: Aha! She opened her eyes to find that the desk had, indeed, shrunk to a rather reasonable size - small enough to fit in the palm of her hand. But it certainly wasn't small enough yet to fit on a fingernail. That seemed almost too small, surely someone in the room would crush a desk somewhere along the way? Once again, she tried to funnel her energy into the desk, imagining it shrinking.

Maeve was starting to feel a bit nervous about how well she'd be able to learn this magic, if she could even use it for any purpose. She took a deep breath, and tried once more.

It had definitely moved that time, and it was very close to being small enough if she tried once more. Maeve was starting to feel a bit wobbly on her feet, but she grit her teeth and pushed through it. Come on, she thought to herself, hoping to make a desk suitable for a bug.

She'd be hopeless in a fight! Maybe she could channel her frustration instead, willing the desk to grow smaller out of pure anger.

Strider Treefellow Strider had been monitoring the girl's progress for a while. She had gotten off to a good start, but seemed to struggle with getting her desk much smaller. At last the bakeneko made his way over to her. “Well, it's not bad,” he said in his usual aloof manner. He leaned over her shoulder to inspect her work. “Try picturing the desk in your mind's eye. Making an object that small requires your absolute concentration. Still, I'll give you a pass for today for your progress. I'm always available after class if you want tutoring.”
smolderingskies Strider has taken pity on you and given you a passing grade!

Growing up outside the city, Oz had always been told that baphomets didn't do real magic. For a long time he had remained ignorant of anything that wasn't just throwing power at a target, but actually paying attention in his magical electives had sharpened his subtlety and left him quite passable at smaller shows of magical ability.

Today in Charms he picked a small, purple weight from Mr. Treefellow's desk and sat quietly for a change, staring and prodding at his choice while trying to get a feel for it. Greer wasn't here today, having gone home to visit his family for the week, so there was no one to trash talk, even if he hadn't been in a rare studious mood.

In the end, Oz found it far easier to siphon some off instead. He rested his fingers on the sides of the weight, then drew them away, imagining that he was pulling mass out into the ether. When he could pull no more, the baphomet lifted the weight and placed it on his palm, smirking at his work. It was now feather light, and he actually felt like he had learned something valuable for a change.
