━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ She was late, and she knew she would be in trouble for it. Rose looked at her clock as she woke that morning. It was 10:05 and she was supposed to be at work at 10:30. It was a half hour walk from home to work with traffic being busy. Once she was dressed, Rose grabbed something to eat and dashed into the hustle and bustle of the city that was New York. After grabbing her bag and locking the door, Rose made a made dash for it. She had just gotten the house and the things in it two weeks ago. She had finally saved enough money for it and she was so happy to have a place of her own. That wouldn't last long if she were late! Dashing around corners and weaving through the crowds, she used her power as she went, doing what she could to turn every light she came to turn red so she could pass. By the time she finally got to the building, she was five minutes late. When she got up to her department and actually clocked in, she was eight minutes late. Groaning softly, she pushed her fiery red hair back and set her bag down. Perhaps if she got straight to work her boss wouldn't yell as much. Pulling her hair back, she put her work shirt on and fixed her shoes before putting her apron on. At the Barnes and Noble, she was a barista in the Starbucks cafe. She was good at her job and honestly enjoyed it. There was money made, and she got to use her power at times. That was a plus. She began to think as she began to help get the line started to disappear that had built with her co-worker. Once that was done, she took a deep breath and smiled, calming down and looking around as she got into the rhythm of this shift. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Felix had been at work for an hour when Rose came in late. He looked around to see the boss heading this way. He was subtle but he messed with the walkie the manager had causing it to sound feedback. The boss stopped trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with the walkie buying Rose enough time to act like she was not late. The benefit to a bookstore job? Even in a big store, you look after you fellow retail soldiers in the Warzone called the sales floor. His break came shortly after and he went fo the coffee he usually got. "Yo Rose! Think you can make my happy juice?" He asked leaning on the counter, he did love the chocolate and caramel drinks that had more caffeine that was likely recommended. They had known each other a while now, she knew his favorite drink and he would always recommend some music for her. He was a pretty open guy, except for one thing. He kept the fact that he was a mutant a guarded secret, he didn't want to lose friends and his job over it. He would get blamed for the electrical mishaps that he would usually be the reason they were fixed. Though at work he mostly used his power to charge scanner batteries, they were never charged when you needed them to be.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Rose's shift was only an hour in when he came up. She looked at Felix and smiled. "Of course" she replied, "Let me finish this group of girls I have now and I will get you something made up." she smiled before turning around. Her co-worker had gone on break and in the corner where no one could really see her, she made sure of it, she let her powers aide her in mixing a few of the drinks as she put the ingredients into it. She began to wonder why her boss hadn't come over to rip into her for being late yet as she put the order she was already on into a set of cup holders. Once it was done, she gave it to the girl waiting for the three trays as her friends found seats. She smiled and turned to Felix. "So, what would you like today or do you want me to surprise you?" she asked as she decided to wipe down her cabinet and straighten a few things up. Nobody could every say Rose's work area was a mess. She made sure to keep it clean and tidy. In the 7 months she had worked there, she had been nearly the best at her job, not beating the manager who seemed to enjoy rubbing it in her face that she was the manager and Rose was just the barista girl. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Totally, you know I'll wait!" Felix said he was leaning out of the way. He had figured she take a bit on the largge order so he had been browseing on his phone. He was slightly suprised when she was ready before he was expecting her to be. "Oh! Yea suprise me. Sweet and a caffeine heath hazard." He replied with a smirk. He had been here a month before Rose and they had hit it off well. Occasionally he would have to help in the cafe if someone called in and she had shown him enough to be of help. He liked watching her make the drinks so he watched the coffee magic or potion brewing with how caffeinated he liked it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Listening to Felix, Rose began to whip him up something he would enjoy. "How is your shift going so far?" she asked as she stirred the cup. She looked back and turned as more people came in. "Oh boy, my co-worker hasn't come back yet. Her break ended a few minutes ago and we're about to have the college student study rush" she explained as she finished his drink. She rang it up for him and waited for him to pay. After he did, she went down the line, making sure everything was stocked, she had what she needed and everything was clean. "Excuse me Felix, I have to get busy. I may get ripped a new one at some point and I don't want more to happen" she explained as she took a deep breath. She looked at the line of students and looked at him. "Maybe you should grab an apron. I may need help." ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"It's going pretty well actully got to spook a lady browsing gospel section with my tattoos, apparently they shouldn't hire demons to work music" he smirked as she finished the drink. The rush concerned her. "Yikes, yea let me be sure my end is covered and I'll help." Felix said looking back and wincing at the stampede of college kids. He paid fast and promptly left and located help. Getting the manager approval for the switch, Felix returned at the normal end of his break to help out. He had the apron on and hands washed quickly enough to help with the last three quarters of the rush. He was glad the industrial sink has raised sides it hid the tiny spark that appeared between his fingers. That usully happened when he was a fully charged and water hit him. It not like he wouldn't be able to use his power if he was wet, it was just harder to control it. He have to be mindful right now as to not have his power show. He handled the menu drinks but there were a few specials he didn't know so Rose was stuck with those. At most he accidentally zaped a guy who was being a right douche bag, but they brushed it off as static. The sheer order amount was even a bit stresful for the perpetually laid back Felix. Hopefully Rose was good she had seemed frazled all day. The manager stopped by to mention Felix would have to stick to the cafe' till the could call on a replacement as the coworker had barfed and was getting sent home. Oh well a paycheck is a paycheck. "Whew, must be a test week or something....holding up?" He asked looking towards Rose after the manager left to deal with a thing in kids books.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ When Felix mentioned the gospel woman, Rose couldn't help but crack a smile. She shook her head lightly as she began to work on the crowd, working as fast as she could. Before Felix returned, she used her power again to help a bit. When he gt back, the stirring sticks stopped and she looked at him. "S my coworker got sick?" she asked, "She always gets sick. I hope it isn't something she is doing on purpose." she explained as she moved quickly, finishing a order before turning to him. She was glad the manager had allowed him to help. Once the two got to it, the line shrunk pretty quick and soon enough, they were done. Rose looked at him and laughed lightly. A test week? No, it's always like this." she replied as she cleaned up again. "Around lunch, the college study buddies come, then just before dinner, the high school study buddies come. In between the two times it just depends on the day." she explained as she sighed softly. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"And you see why I'm in the music department." He said. The phone rang and he answered it taking down the order. "They even asked for you to make it." Felix said passing the order sheet to her. "We are low on cold drink cups ill go get some from the back." He said before leaving. He fished trough the back finding them high on the shelf in the back. He moved a few boxes then had to reach high to get them. Why must they do that? He made his way back to the cafe when arriving Rose was off doing one thing but the stirring utensil was doing it thing all on it own. He watched it for a moment before speaking. "Wow! That's cool are you doing that?" He asked impressed. He didn't think he had a coworker who was also a mutant, a telepathic one at that.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ When Felix told her about the special order, Rose smiled and nodded as she began. It was three drinks but she also had a few customers. Having left the drinks to stir themselves, she went to take care of those orders. When she finished them, she heard Felix and her eyes widened. The stir sticks froze and she spun, two of them blowing up at her sudden power burst. She gasped lightly and looked at Felix. "Um..." she began though she had no clue what to say. Her eyes were wide, like a deer caught in head lights. "Please don't tell anyone. No one is supposed to know" she exclaimed when she regained her composure. She grabbed a rag and cleaned the mess up before looking at him. She had a bit of latter and frappachino in her hair and on her apron and top now. She took a deep breath as she looked at him and tried to calm down. This couldn't be happening? She did not just reveal herself to someone... did she? ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
She had jumped out of her skin when she relised he had seen her. Well he didn't want her to be spooked. "Oh don't worry I wont tell a soul. I have no reason too." Felix said hoping to reassure her. He grabbed a clean dry towel and brought it over. "The counter can wait, dry yourself first." He said offering the towel. She still seemed frazzled. He felt a bit guilty that he spooked her so bad. He needed a good faith gesture. He peered around seeing no one nearby. The couchs the study groups were plenty far enough away. He slipped to her other side that was blocked by machines. "Hey I'll give you some reassurance I'm not going to tell. Look." Felix said quietly holding his hand palm up about waist level. He let sparks jump around and move between the fingers. No enough to cause any alarms but it definitely proved they had something in common. Looks like Barnes and Noble had at least two mutant employees.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ When he gave her the towel, Rose simply watched him. He was so calm. Why was he so calm? Her sister had flipped out when she found out. In fact, her whole family had. She dried herself off and listened to him before looking up a bit. She watched him a moment, focused on what he was doing. Then she pulled him to her corner. "You're one too? How many are there here? Do you know?" she asked. She knew about Xavier's, but she didn't know there were others like her, people who had been declined or who's parents refused to send them. She finished drying her hair and top off before retrieving a dry apron. When she returned, she looked at him. "Um, would it be super weird if I invited you over for dinner? I've not met another mutant other then the person who came to try to take me to the mutant school. It would be nice to actually be able to know another one. As long as you're not some like, crazy murderer or something." She'd heard about them, bad mutants who enjoyed those types of things. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Glad she was better but surprised she grabbed him, it took a moment before he had an answer. "Um, one: yes, two: I have to google that, and three: Not off the top of my head." He replied. He helped clean up as she cleaned herself. he was happy she was feeling better. He was happy the first person other than the family he ever showed his power too took it so well. After things were normal again she asked if it was too weird to ask him to dinner. "Nah, it is cool, just two friends getting to know each other. Just give me the address after work and I meet you there I get off an hour before you" He replied smiling. "Well, I accidentally shocked the one douche canoe we had but other that a few static shocks, I haven't hurt anybody "

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Rose sighed as he replied and she smiled softly. It was good that he knew of others, perhaps he knew someone like her? she shook the thought away and nodded as she began to clean again now that service was dead. When he replied to her invitation, she smiled as she looked at him. "Awesome," she said, "I can order take out. I don't really have much to cook until I get paid. And even then, I don't always have enough to get food after I pay all my bills. Just enough for me and mostly it's fast food. I am surprised I haven't gained fifty pound." she smiled at herself before she looked at him. She laughed lightly and sighed. "There was this snobby girl once that I tied her shoelaces together and she fell, face frst into her steamy latte." she explained as they finished their cleaning and she relaxed now that her station was ship shape once more. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"Hey if you need a pantry and fridge stocked just as my mom shes been doing a food drive. She'll gladly send some your way." He said. He wouldn't say no to food of any quality, well other than rotten food of course. He chuckled at her mentioning of the shoelace incident. "Oh my god thats great! I usully mess with the headphones or computers, that and charge scanner batteries." He replied. Out of context the conversation sounded innocent enough. They recreated the special order just in time. Eventully the replacement was found and Felix was shuffled back to his department. The prospect of after work meal helped the day go by quicker. He was off an hour before Rose was so he hung out in the cafe and helped flip chairs at 7:30 Cafe' close. "So whatcha thinking?" He said when she returned from clocking out in the back.
