When Tryston woke up he had the worst headache possible. Moaning the iceling attempted to move before hitting his shoulder against something hard. Frowning Tryston narrowed his gaze as he attempted to see something other than a blur of brown and green. Ugh my head. Pinching the bridge of his nose the swordsman tried to get a better grip on himself. Where was he? The last thing he remembered was just being so angry. He had been a mass of pure rage going through the forests of...Tale? Ah, yes.

Hadn’t he also picked a fight with some big brute? A giant beast of a man who hadn’t even offered any words. All he had given Tryston were his fists and the iceling swore that his ribs were imbedded with the stranger’s fistmarks. If he even had ribs left. Letting out a groan Tryston tried to stand up again before sitting back down at the base of a tree in defeat.

Uzumati was scouring the forest for anymore strangers. Thankfully it seemed that the angry iceling was the only one in the area today. The thought made him snort in amusement. A very angry, blood thirsty iceling that it was. Though the wildman wasn’t that advanced with talking to others he at least was well versed in reading emotions. The other man had a lot of hurt and pain in his soul and their battle had hopefully allowed him to let out most of it.

Whatever it was seemed to be a shame to Uzumati. It would have been nice to be able to fight the stranger on equal grounds. During their battle, however, the iceling had been so heated that his fists had been blind while Uzumati had managed to counter every attack. Though he had decided to not leave the boy alone it still didn’t mean that Uzumati was any more comfortable approaching him. Instead when he returned the leaf earthling simply held out a fat leaf that was cupped to hold water towards the stranger.

Tryston stirred as someone else approached. Was it some creature coming to attack him? Instead the man was surprised to see the brawler from before approaching. Not only was he approaching calmly, but he was also holding something out to him. Confused Tryston tilted his head thoughtfully before reaching out a hand to grab the leaf. Water? Offering a faint smile the man eagerly drank the refreshing liquid and sat the leaf back on the ground. As he wiped his lips, Tryston glanced up towards the wildman thoughtfully.

“Thank you.” He finally stated simply. He was surprised that the man cared enough to linger around and to even do something as simple as giving him water. After that fight he was surprised to be left alive in all honesty. He had attacked like a madman out of the blue after all.

Uzumati just nodded at the appreciation. It seemed that the stranger had calmed down a lot and wasn’t so eager to attack anymore. Not that he had much of a choice since Uzumati had given him a few busted ribs and even almost snapped his arm. Uzumati would be impressed if the man could throw some punches after that. At least he seemed capable of drinking and moving. That was impressive enough.

Thoughtfully he circled around before finally sitting to stare over the iceling. Tapping his lips he looked towards the empty leaf and then pointed to the other man. Was that enough?

It seemed that this wildman wasn’t the most talkative one. Surprisingly that didn’t frustrate Tryston and instead a small smile slipped across the man’s features, “I’m good thank you.” He patted at the leaf, “It was refreshing. The water around here must be crystal clear.” The last time he had such refreshing waters was from the falls in Zena’s mountains. It made his gut twist to think of home, but the swordsman quickly shook off the depressing thoughts.

“Did you stay here this whole time?” He finally asked after a quiet moment.

At the question Uzumati nodded, “Witu.” The word was rough coming from a man who rarely spoke, but it held enough meaning. He glanced around them and made an expression that resembled a snarl. The witu were always eager to fight in these parts. Only his presence in this forest kept them on the downlow. When Uzumati wasn’t around anyone wandering through could be in danger since the beasts often were wanting to fight.

Mostly he fought them for territory space, but when earthlings happened to be in the right spot...well that also was a game for the beasts. The last thing he wanted was for a young swordsman to become an easy prey. Not when he had provided such an entertaining fight. Uzumati would prefer to keep him alive so that they could fight again in the future.

“Ah.” Tryston nodded, “Then I owe you more thanks.” The swordsman flushed as he glanced over at the wildman again. It seemed that he shouldn’t judge solely on appearance. When he first saw the man he had thought him to be a creature ready to rip him apart. Instead he had been the one to attack and even despite that the man had guarded him instead of looting his body and leaving him for the beasts.

“I’m sorry.” The apology slipped from his lips as Tryston bowed his head, “I...witnessed something upsetting and instead of dealing with it in a rational way I went on a rampage. I should have not raised my sword to you like that.”

Snorting Uzumati just shook his head, “Is fine.” He motioned with his fists and grinned, “I enjoy.” He loved a good fight and the man had provided indeed. Though worry did bother him. While he typically hated strangers in his forest the man felt a strange connection to the swordsman. In a sense they had some similarities. What was that the call of a lone warrior? The thought amused the beast man, but in a sense he knew it to be true. That man before him had been alone for a while and fought with all of his heart. That much he could appreciate.

Though he had to wonder what in the world would have upset the other so much, “Reason?” He finally asked. The word surprised himself in all honesty since he never pried into other lives.

Tryston found himself blinking in surprise when the other man was not only talking, but starting to take interest him in as well. “At least you enjoyed it.” The swordsman seemed sheepish as he rested against the tree, “I suppose I lucked out when I came here to fight.” Anyone else could have mauled him and left him for dead. Or what if he had mauled them instead? The thought of innocent blood on his blade made Tryston feel sick. That rage...he didn’t ever want to have something like that consume him again. It was too terrifying.

“I don’t know the reason…” He started and then trailed off. It was a lie and he knew it, “Someone I care for is with another who I don’t believe is good for her.” The admission made his cheeks flush slightly, “Not that I’m jealous but the man is not a good person. I worry for her.”

Huffing at the explanation Uzumati found himself plopping on the ground next to Tryston, “You claim?” He asked with a furrowed brow. If anything he knew about animals could be attested to earthlings then the boy should be fighting for a mate. If he didn’t like who she was with then it was as simple as beating them out of the way to Uzumati. Then again he didn’t know much about romance...that stuff was a strange creature to him. He would much rather stick to fighting for his territory and hunting in the forests. That was far more exhilarating.

“Claim?” Tryston rose a brow, “What do you….” Trailing off he stared intently at the other earthling before letting out a rare sound - laughter. “Oh no, no.” The laugh was choked and full of mixed emotions that had been building up in his chest. Shaking his head Tryston had to take a moment to gather himself, “It’s not that simple. I can’t just go and beat up her fia- no now husband. They’re legally bond.” His gaze lowered towards the ground, “I have no right to interfere.”

Uzumati wrinkled his nose at the protest, “Not good reason.” He quipped as he crossed his arms, “Seems too important.” The wildman was keen on sensing things like that and it seemed this swordsman heart was invested in whatever this woman was. He had gone on a rampage through the woods after all. Earthling laws didn’t make sense to him. If it were him he would go to that weird ceremony they called ‘wedding’ and carry off the woman. Let them try and take her from his territory! Uzumati huffed at the thought. He’d maul them for certain.

If that man across from him also had that much strength in their fight then he could imagine that he could do the same. So why hadn’t he?

Tryston’s lips pressed into a fine line. Not that he was frustrated with the wildman, but rather that he wished he could have had such simple thoughts. “I...didn’t know what to do. I don’t even know what I feel concerning her. It’s all so new to me and she seemed intent on believing in her husband as a good man.” The swordsman hung his head in shame, “I was an idiot. I should have went in and stopped the wedding, but now it’s too late.”

The earthling sighed, “She belongs to him and it infuriates me. If he harms one hair on her head…” Tryston trailed off as he desperately tried to fight against the rage. But it was more that he was worn out. He felt so defeated right now.

Uzumati snorted and then stood, “Recover. Never too late.” The wildman was certain of that. For him earthling laws and customs were temporary situations. Just like anything in the wild the world would constantly change. Who knew what tomorrow would bring? He glanced towards the earthling one last time before wandering off through the bushes.

Letting out a sigh Tryston slumped against the tree. Not too late? What did the wildman know? He probably didn’t even know what the words husband or marriage meant! Frustration crossed his features, but most of it was aimed at himself. For years he had been in Tale trying to figure out the pieces of this insanity, but the puzzle refused to fall into place. What was he supposed to do? Storm in without a valid reason and then look like a fool?

And even the wildman was leaving him. Sighing once more Tryston leaned his head back against the tree and closed his eyes. So much for getting anything figure out.
