Bushi was waiting for the one named Tristitia near the marketplace. The boy would be sent to him by his bookie, which was the one that all but owned the kid's life at the moment given the fact that he owed the man so much money. It seemed that the way his daughter described the kid was pretty spot on, that being that he was a bit on the pathetic side. He was a thief, a gambler, a vagrant, and not a person that he exactly wanted his daughter hanging out with... but at the same time he knew that if he told her to stay away from Tristitia that it would have the opposite effect.

As such he figured he could meet with the kid, possibly see about getting him some work, though work that didn't involve money. According the man that held the kid's life in his hands he'd gamble away any money he got no matter how small the sum of it. Payment would have to be given in other ways. That if and only if he actually decided to give the kid some work though. He was a thief after all and Bushi knew thieves, he didn't want to work with a kid that might try to rip him off. That would only cause him to toss him out on his backside... after he gave said backside a swift kick.

Given he wasn't sure how well he could trust him he'd left Aatos and Profit back at the inn, with his various goods being protected by the guards there. All he had with him was a pouch of coins hidden on his person and his knives. That was all he needed for this particular meeting.

Bushi stood up a bit taller as the rather scruffy looking young man approached him. He could tell it was him right away given the very look of him, it was exactly as both Cham and Bushi's other sources had described. So this was the one that his daughter was wanting him to help out? He found himself questioning as to why... but he would guess it was the fact that the kid reminded her of a stray animal. That was what she said anyway meaning that she felt bad for the kid. Given the way she was raised, getting anything she wanted, he supposed that he could understand why she'd pity this one.

Crossing his arms over his chest Bushi said, "Tristitia I presume? My name is Bushi, I'm here on behalf of my daughter to see if you're worth giving work to." No reason to beat around the bush about why he was here. This way they could get right to it.

Bushi starred at the one before him for a long moment. Putting aside the fact that he had various negative things to him, the worst thing being that he was a boy that was friends with his daughter, he could see what Shura was thinking. The kid was rather scrawny looking, had bags under his eyes, walked in a hunched manner, and seemed to have a rumbling stomach. From what she'd said she fed the kid after stepping on him while he was apparently sleeping in an alleyway?

Giving a shake of his head he said, "Shura sent me to take a look at you. It seems that she feels bad for you and thinks that I should find work for you." He shifted in place, his head cocking to one side, "From what I hear though you might not be the best investment around. You're a thief and a gambler, you don't have a home of your own, instead sleeping in sheds or alleyways, and if you get your hands on money your will just waste it. Am I correct in all of that? Or is there any of it that you would correct?"

Bushi lifted an eyebrow slowly as the young man explained that the only thing that Bushi had said that wasn't right was that he wasn't sleeping in the alleyway. He blinked slowly... and then started to laugh, "Well, at least you're honest... which is a really strange trait for one in your line of work. Or perhaps you're only one of those 'by necessity' thieves?" Giving a shake of his head the big man said, "Come along, we are going to get lunch and talk about a potential job for you. Unless you'd prefer to spend the rest of your days living in a shed?"

He made a motion with his hand and moved forward, toward where they could get something to eat. Once they got some food and found a place to sit down they would be able to better discuss the future. At the moment though he doubted the kid could think clearly when his stomach was touching his spine.

Bushi went to a place that was serving bowls filled to the brim with stew and ordered two heaping bowls full of the stuff. One in each hand he moved over to a small bench that was nearby, settling down there, and motioned to Tristitia to sit down alongside him. Only after he decided to sit down would he hand over the bowl that belonged to Tri.

The second bowl of stew, along with its spoon, were placed on the bench where Tri would be sitting as Bushi dug into his own. After a couple of bites he said, "So tell me, should I bother to hire you? From what I gather you can't be trusted with money so I would need to pay you in other ways. It would be a bit of a bother but if you were someone that could actually prove useful I might be tempted." He took a couple more bites, seemingly sizing Tri up, before he said, "I won't abide by anyone stealing from me. I know thieves, the way their minds work, and I am not about to let such a thing slide. I'd most likely have to tan your hide and leave you in the desert if you tried such a thing."

He wasn't about to let a random thief but his livelihood at risk when he had Phaedra and their two children to take care of.

Bushi gave a slow nod of his head, "Sounds like you have the basics down... though if you were thinking you wouldn't be stealing from places that are near to where you live. People likely know you there and it will only cause you to end up over your head more often then not." He told him between bites of the stew. Once he finished it he gave a bit of a sigh, tapping the spoon against the bowl before he said, "Nothing like what my Sprite can make... but it will have to work until I head home."

As Tristitia mentioned that he wouldn't be trying to steal from Bushi due to being terrified of him the big man couldn't help but to chuckle a bit, "Good. I'm glad to hear that, it will make it easier for you to work for me." He would find him some work, see how he did, and then if things went well he would see about introducing him to members of the Thieves Guild. They were also looking for new members... though it would all depend on Tristitia and if he could keep his stick fingers away from things that belonged to the other members.

He supposed that the boy understood fear and not to mess with those with power so he might do alright? That meant only time would tell how this all played out.

"Sprite is a pet name for the woman that I love." He said simply before he added, "Keep in mind that if you think I am scary that I am nothing compared to her. Best to stay in line where she and our children are concerned as well. Just a friendly warning." He didn't want Phaedra to spear the kid after all because he'd messed up and messed with one of her babies he thought to himself, shaking his head a bit.

Bushi pushed up to his feet, bowl in hand, and said, "You're in pretty terrible shape, aren't you?" The way that his back cracked lead him to believe that he slept in some pretty awkward places, not just that shed he'd heard mention of but likely other uncomfortable places. Shaking his head a bit he said, "Best to you into slightly better shape before you do much work or else my contacts are going to think poorly of me." If he spoiled his kids but kept scrawny, broken down employees they would likely think him very biased. It was altogether true but he didn't want the world to know that, not when a merchant like himself was supposed to be a people person.

"If you're done eating let's go. We're walking again." They would talk while they walked toward their destination.

He glanced over at him, sizing him up, before he said, "I feel that you ending up in better shape would likely involve you eating better, sleeping on something comfortable. Might want to get you a cot or something." He seemed to think on it for a moment before he said, "It mostly depends on if you actually do the work assigned to you or not. I am not going to provide you would a bed or anything else unless you prove yourself." No reason to spend too much money on someone that is completely unreliable.

He gave a humming sound before he said, "Given your reputation I feel paying you with money won't really pan out. What do you think about being paid in other means? Food for the most part, maybe things to help you live more comfortably, like a cot or blankets. Things that will help you out in your life but can't be gambled away."
