Bank of X is a tall, seven story building with white washed walls on the outside and a pair of golden edged, frosted glass entry doors. From an outsider's appearance, it is really very beautiful, if not perhaps a smidge daunting - but it's a bank, so daunting is in its instruction manual.
The inside of the bank is just as clean cut and beautiful as the outside. The glossy tiled floor is a charcoal shade of black, and so are the marble counters. All of the fixtures are gold, from the grilles that surround the tellers, to the locks on the bathroom doors. It gives the impression of a very successful, very impressive place.
The seventh floor is the master suite belonging to Mr. Crane, President of Bank of X. No one knows what goes on up there; his own private security team guards the place day and night.
THE UNDERBELLY
To the humans, Bank of X is simply a place to deposit funds, take out a loan, or do other such regularities. The Horsemen, however, have a different idea. Bank of X is the sole converter of Human to Horseman currency, monopolizing the monetary market of the Horsemen and providing a dominating sense of power in terms of the Horsemen trade market. They do not like to be challenged. Not only that, but they have been known to call in loan payments in a very particular way...a not-so-nice way...
THE PRESIDENT
The president and CEO of Bank of X is a tall man with sleek, extremely long white-blond hair swept back away from his pale face and small black horns paired with a pair of sharp blue eyes that seem to see a lot more than he lets on. To his employees, he is known as Mr. Crane, or just simply Crane. Everything from his sharply handsome good looks to his meticulously cared for and staggeringly expensive, tailored suits speaks of power and influence - but he can easily disarm with a smile when he wants to.
And he's smiling now, because new employees mean money, and Crane is always willing to assist anyone who'd like to earn an extra dollar here and there.
The general consensus among his employees is that Crane is a "cold hearted b*****d." Or sometimes a "frosty eyed demon." Most seem to think that he is a greedy, selfish man who doesn't care about anything except money. In spite of that, however, there's not a whole lot of resentment or disrespect - in fact, his employees seem to admire his ruthlessness and strength when it comes to the bank. Seeming insults are spoken with awe and inspiration rather with disdain and disgust.

gaia_star A reminder to go here on how to take on a job!
Quote:
[ JOB LISTING ] Bank teller
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star
[ TASK ] Crane would like to see your skills. In order to do that, he requires you to perform a four hour shift as a bank teller in one of the quieter branches of the building.
[ MECHANICS ] Please roll 1d6 to see how well you do at Bank of X this fine day. You may only try this once. 1 - You do relatively well, but you don't do anything special. Crane seems to think that you may have potential, but he seems disappointed that you didn't take the initiative when you should have. ( fail )
2 - You do so well that Crane is almost startled by how adept you are, which rarely happens. He gives you a rare grin of satisfaction, as well as a clap on the back that indicates just how well pleased he is with your work. Maybe you have a future calling here at Bank of X... ( pass )
3 - Your work suffers because you're too nervous to perform correctly, mostly due to the fact that Crane is standing over you, observing silently. He doesn't come straight out and say that you're terrible, but...you're pretty terrible. ( fail )
4 - There are a few mishaps, including one where you mistake the vice president of the company for a janitor. Whoops...well, maybe he should have dressed better. Still, surprisingly, Crane seems amused by this, rather than put off. Maybe you didn't do so terribly after all... ( pass )
5 - You are very quick and thorough. Maybe not amazingly talented, but you do good work and Crane seems to think that you could do more with your time if you put your head to it. Needless to say, he's very satisfied with your work. ( pass )
6 - You mistakenly try and work at the loan counter instead of the regular counters. Crane is deeply disappointed at your complete lack of ability. ( fail )
[ UPON COMPLETION ] +1 Raffle Ticket (you can only claim a MAX of 3 per player this way!) +5 Currency

[ JOB LISTING ] Funds processor
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_stargaia_star
[ TASK ] Crane would like you to take over for a sick employee in order to gauge your skills and also because time is money and a missing employee means missing possible money. It's time to do a little processing in order to prove your worth.
[ MECHANICS ] Roll 3d6 and match your results below. You may only take on two clients a day (two rolls).
Two matching numbers - You did all right. Not terribly, not fantastically, but you managed to at least get several things processed - and on time, to boot. There was a troublesome customer [ please rp this out ], but you managed to do well! ( pass )
All three matching numbers (except 6,6,6) - You did AMAZING. Crane is so impressed with your work that he decides to give you a pre-holiday bonus. He watches as you skillfully handle irate customers and confused patrons, especially one customer in particular who seems not to understand how banks work... [ please rp this out ] ( pass )
All three random numbers - You're average. Unremarkable. Dull. Crane seems very disappointed; he watches as you sluggishly move from patron to patron, but he leaves before your shift is over - which only settles in his lack of interest in you, even if you did manage to process a customer who likes to scream [ please rp this out ]. ( fail )
Sequential numbers (does not have to be directly in order - i.e. 2,3,1 is fine) - You're nothing spectacular, but Crane still seems to find you interesting, and perhaps a little amusing. He's observing your progress, and while you start off rocky when dealing with a customer who thinks money comes before breakfast [ please rp this out ], by the end of your temporary shift, you've got a knack for things. ( pass )
6, 6, 6 - You do so badly that Crane seems on the verge of throwing you out. He's not angry, per say, but he's wearing an expression that shows he is extremely displeased - and this coming from a man who does not like to be displeased. ( fail )
[ UPON COMPLETION ] +1 Raffle Ticket (you can only claim a MAX of 3 per player this way!) +5 Currency +1 Arcana Bonus

[ JOB LISTING ] Loan shark
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_stargaia_stargaia_star
[ TASK ] It's time to call in some loans - aka the bank's most formidable and infamous task, what they're best known for. He's invited you to some interviews with people who are behind on their loan payments; the office is extremely grand and fancy - and also imposing. Doing this task means that Crane trusts you to know what you're doing, so you'd better not let him down...
[ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d100 and see how well you've fared. You may have two clients a day.
01 - 15 - The person you've been instructed to speak to is a young parent who keeps crying everywhere. It's a little flustering to try and talk when someone is sobbing on your shoulder...needless to say, Crane is disappointed in your efforts. Or lack thereof. ( fail )
16 - 30 - Twins. Why twins? What sort of twins take out a loan together? Apparently to open a small business. They're the type of twins who finish each other's sentences, which gets you both confused and a little annoyed. Crane doesn't appreciate your impatience...but he does seem to appreciate the creativity you use to handle the situation. ( pass )
31 - 45 - Your patron is a young person - very young. In fact, so young that you're wondering how a person this young even got a loan. But it seems that appearances can be deceiving. You do well in getting them to admit that they need to pay the bank back. ( pass )
46 - 60 - The customer is an elderly person who keeps trying to get you to speak louder and louder because they can't hear you. Crane seems amused by this, but doesn't intervene, even when the patron says that you remind them of their grandchild. They reminisce about stories of their childhood, and you get so involved in the storytelling that you almost forget you're doing work. ( pass )
61 - 75 - Your patron is an attractive - very attractive - very very attractive - person who keeps flirting outrageously at you. Crane seems to find this quite normal, but it's throwing you off your game. Or maybe you're really good at flirting back. Either way, you actually do manage to convince them to make a payment. ( pass )
76 - 90 - Your meet with someone who is unbelievably derogative and dismissive. No matter how levelheaded you might be, they eventually say something that gets under your skin, and you lose your temper. Crane seems a little entertained by this, but, well, you can't go around snapping at clients, after all. ( fail )
91 - 100 - You meet with a high profile client who is as smooth as a shark and as cool as a cucumber. Nothing you say and do can ruffle them, but in spite of this, Crane seems both pleased and satisfied with your attempts at getting them to repay their outstanding debts. He gives you a nod of commendation. ( pass )
[ UPON COMPLETION ] +1 Raffle Ticket (you can only claim a MAX of 3 per player this way!) +5 Currency +1 Arcana Bonus gaia_crown+1 RARE UNIQUE CLOTHING PIECE RELATED TO THIS JOB (LINK COMPLETED THREAD HERE)

“Ah, pardon me for the mistake back there, but do you really let the company's vice-president go around dressed like that?” she chuckled, crossing her legs as she leaned into her chair.
“This is all very impressive work I must say. Of course money speaks the loudest, it's nice to know that hasn't changed,” she hummed as she twirled about in the spinny chair, taking a good look around the president's office.
“Well, now that I'm awake, what can I do for you Mr. Crane?” she asked cheekily, grinding the spinning chair to a halt with a firm heeled-foot to the ground. “Or perhaps you could tell me what happened yesterday to cause that incident at the Dusk?”

From the back of the room, a laugh sounded, low and amused. The tall figure of Bank of X's president folded his arms across his chest and raised his brows, blue eyes flickering over the young woman who sat in the chair in the middle, though Crane himself was standing, reclining insouciantly against one of the walls.
"What can I say?" he made an airy gesture with a long fingered hand. "I suppose I like to see how people react. It's part of my business, after all. I like to learn and observe, and I can do that best when I let people simply...do what they want."
He pushed away from the wall and strode over to the desk, picking up a glass figurine that looked like some sort of paperweight. Crane turned it over in his hands, making a quiet hmming sound before turning back to BingHua. A pale brow rose.
"What incident are you referring to?"

“Hmm, it appears you're more flexible than I thought; an organisation of this size and scale needs some structure after all...” she hummed and and steepled her fingers together. Or had their clan changed their stance regarding hierarchy these days...?
BingHua watched silently as the stately horseman fiddled with the paperweight, wondering how much of his reply needed contemplation.
“Why, surely you would have heard of the wave of amnesia that washed over a good part of the Dusk,” she replied silkily, resting her chin on her hand. And embarrassing as it was, she had been part of that too. And why was that?
“What I'm saying is, this company wasn't built overnight. So I was thinking that your memories would still be intact up to now – or perhaps you were completely isolated from that event?”

"Believe me, dear lady, I am more flexible than people give me credit for."
Crane set the paperweight down and went around to the exotic looking liquor cabinet behind the desk, opening one of the glass fronted doors and extracting a bottle of what looked to be very expensive whisky, along with a single tumbler. Clearly he didn't intend to share.
"We have structure, most of the work is just behind the scenes," Crane added, flashing BingHua a serene smile, long pale hair trailing like a snake behind him. He uncorked the bottle and poured himself a dram, recorking it a second later with a gentle clink of glass against glass.
His brows were still raised in mild surprise. "Oh that incident," said Crane, and took a sip of his whisky, seating himself in the glossy, leather backed chair behind the desk. His feet rose, shiny black shoes propped up on the top of his desk, one ankle crossed over the other.
"Perhaps. Perhaps not. I've heard of the whole..." He waved a hand. "Amnesia thing. Why, were your memories affected?"
Crane didn't shrug, but every inch of his demeanor suggested one.
Tanita was walking past, and overheard the part about the VP's outfit. She waited, a long moment, trying to decide if she should speak up, before nodding, and quietly moving closer. "It is good to know I am not the only individual who was confused by the vice president's outfit. Such jumpsuits are not very... presidential." She paused, her forehead wrinkled above her nose in thought as she pondered how best to phrase the next part of what she was thinking. After all, she did not want to offend, annoy, or otherwise bother Mr. Crane. She just was confused about the fact that this was permitted.
After all, the bank had an image to maintain, didn't it? She took a deep breath, and finally decided how to say this. "I do not mean to impugn on the gentleman's taste in clothes, nor am I suggesting, in any way, that this is inappropriate, if you feel otherwise, sir. I just thought that, as a Bank, there was an executive image to be maintained, whether dressed as a member of the Teller staff, or as an actual executive." She tilted her head, and slowly worked her way through the last part of her thought process. "Does it not confuse, or displease, the clients with higher level accounts to see their money being handled by a company who allows such unusual slackness from one so high in the organization?" She paused, then suddenly gave a half bow, unnerved by her courage in speaking to Mr. Crane about the topic so honestly!

Chao sighed returning to the bank, today's job attempt was also a failure. She hopped that next time she would get a different person to try and get money from. At least she had finished dry-cleaning the outfit and quickly returned it to bank lockers.
Maybe she just wasn’t very good at being a loan shark. She ended up walking by the grand room where the deals where held and had an idea. Finding an empty chair that was out of the way, Chao, sat down and started to listen to how the other Loan Sharks handled their clients. She made notes every so often. Hopefully it would help her do a better job.

Crane's smile was lazy - or maybe just amused - as he turned his attentions to the newcomer, unmoving from his current position behind the desk. He nursed the glass of whiskey on his chest, long fingers idly smoothing up and down the crystal sides.
"Perhaps not," he said lightly, head tilted in what appeared to be consideration. "But at the same time, it does present a certain amount of...shall we say, anonymity. If no one notices the Vice President among the rest of the patrons, then they could get a better look."
Crane's lips stretched into an easy grin. "Don't worry, my lady, I am the one who handles the clients the most. This is my bank, after all; I wouldn't let anyone do anything that could cause a disruption of its services or its reputation. Which, I might say, precedes itself."
There was something sharp in his eyes, something hard - but it disappeared almost at once as Crane's gaze went to the silent observer at the back of the room.
"I do so appreciate feedback, however," he said lightly, charmingly. "Don't be afraid."

Tanita's brows lifted, and she smiled, as she understood what Mr. Crane was saying. After all, if nothing else, it made the Vice President a harder to find him as a target if unwanted elements came hunting. And that Mr. Crane handled most of the clients? Well, that certainly would cover the appearances. She couldn't imagine anyone considering the way he dressed or behaved as anything less then fully professional, and elegant.
She did, however, notice the hard look in his eyes, and controlled the urge to step back. This was why she had been hesitant, after all, to mention the matter to him. He was, no matter what, a dangerous individual. No one got where he was today without being such, and she was very well aware of it.
At his suggestion to not be afraid, however, she tilted her head, a slightly intrigued expression on her face. "I was raised to believe it is always wise to be at least a tiny bit afraid in the face of true strength or power." She gave a respectful head nod to him. "As I understand how these things work, you represent both... And as such, I would be a fool not to, at the least, be afraid of risking your anger." She shrugged, just a little. "Thank you, however, for taking the time to both hear me out, and explain the logic behind the actions. It helps me understand how things work in the Bank of X far better." She stepped back, feeling she had surely taken up more then enough of the elegant president's time. He was an important man, and she was just a minor employee, and member of his clan.

“Hmm? I guess I'll have to see it to believe it,” she continued with her teasing tone. She wondered how much of his patience was being tested, noticing how he hadn't bothered to offer her a drink – or maybe it was something to do with the company's policy about drinking with employees?
BingHua watched the president seat himself comfortably – almost all too comfortably – as he continued the conversation. His reply was cryptic as usual, and it was clear that neither party was keen on being the first to back down.
It was just as well that their conversation was interrupted just then, saving her the trouble of answering his question – which would have been an unfortunate yes and too much of a point of weakness to reveal. And so she sat still, gleefully eavesdropping on the other conversation until the other horseman left.
“I wonder what kind of patrons would need the vice-president's close attention,” she chuckled, idly twirling a lock of hair with her finger. “Of course, I do not mean to judge the company's business practices. As Sun Tzu says, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.”
“Though I wonder what is it you think of me? As a friend, or family even? Or would you prefer to keep this strictly business?” She smiled and leaned forward to prop her hands on the table. “Personally, I'd like to think of you as an ally. And what say you, Mr. Crane?”

Merope moved at the speed of panic as he barreled straight into the door to the president's office, forgetting all too belatedly that not all doors automatically open upon approach. The Conquest intern reeled back from the solid oak, rubbing his forehead. His other hand held a loudly buzzing pager that he was still fumbling with, trying to turn it off even as he knocked on the door.
"Mr. President sir?" He shouted through the door as he opened it without waiting for Crane's go-ahead, "Did you call for m-" of course he called for you, you idiot, why else would the pager be ringing?! "my wonderful jasmine tea making skills even though I see that you currently have a drink hello ma'ams may I get you something to drink?" The later was addressed to the two conquest women as he stood near Crane's drink cabinet. His expression went from a delightful look of recognition to a mute horror that realized his a** was swiftly approaching grass.
