Favor fixed his hair one more time, making sure it fell in the perfect way. He raised one hoof and knocked on the door, looking down at the flowers he held. He was sure this dinner would achieve his goal and expose this brother stealing stallion. He didn't love fortune, not like Favor did. He would show Fortune that one way or another. He wouldn't let anyone come in and use his brother. He was certain that's all this was. Fortune was a rebound and he deserved better than that.

'You're planning all this!' 'What? No, I'd ne-' 'Don't ******** lie to me, Licorice. It's not hard to dream.' 'Sweet Tart, please. I don't know what's wrong, I'm sorry!' 'If you never wanted kids why did we even get married?' 'Hone-' 'Don't ******** touch me.'
Licorice awoke with a gasp, head snapping off the kitchen counter and body almost tossing him out of his seat. There it was again, the nightmare. The reminder of why his marriage hadn't lasted. The gentle kick in the heart that served to make sure he knew it was his fault. No matter what, or how much time passed, Licorice kept reliving that argument. The one that ended with papers thrown at his feet and the man he loved leaving him. Nothing was going to fix that, he had failed, and he was going to fail anyone else who cared for him.
Fortune.
Licorice's mouth grew dry as he thought of the Alicorn who had, for some reason or another, shown him kindness. Fortune cared, for now, but what would happen when Licorice proved to fail him too? Licorice didn't even know what to call their relationship? Love? No, not yet. Dating? Was that what this was?
It wasn't as if he disliked it, either. Fortune made him laugh. He made everything, briefly, okay. But Licorice hadn't recovered, something he hadn't truly realized until he noticed that whenever Fortune said something sweet or offered Licorice adoration all Licorice could think about was the fact that he would, if Fortune stayed, end up disappointing the Alicorn. The smiles and touches would turn into bitter tears and hatred, and that stopped Licorice from truly returning the sweet Alicorn's feelings.
Did Fortune notice? He hoped not. Did the Alicorn sense the hesitance from Licorice? Was Licorice already hurting him? His stomach tightened at that sickening though, mind glad to be distracted when a sharp knock banged against his door. Pushing himself off the counter seat, Licorice approached the door, propping it open.
For a second, his eyes mistook the other for Fortune, a smile reaching his tired face before it paused in confusion. Who- Favor? It wasn't as if Fortune never mentioned Favor, and Licorice had seen Favor in passing. Tilting his head, his eyes glanced at the flowers briefly before they returned to look up at Favor's eyes.
"Good evening." He softly greeted, leaning against his door slightly. "Are you looking for Fortune? He isn't here today."

When the door opened Favor took in the sight of the one in front of him, this was the pony playing games with his brother. Taking Fortune's time and attention away from him. Favor wasn't going to stand for it. He smiled sweetly ay the pony and held out the flowers, "I picked these for you along the road, aren't they just lovely?" Indeed it was a small bouquet of wildflowers that looked like they had been arranged rather than tossed together. Clearing his throat he gave a soft smile. "I'm sure you're wondering why I'm here and not me brother." He chuckled. "Well, I'd like to take you out to dinner, get to know this pony my brother talk's about so much. Would you do me the honor?" He held out a hoof as if beckoning the other to come with him.
