Abrus
Name: Abrus
Race: Kirin
Stage: Senior
HP:350 HP
MP:185 MP
Maximum Specialization: -0 ()
Racial Buffs: Healing has -20 Buff, Spells with a +MP or +HP result have -5 Buff
Racial Debuffs:Spells with a -MP or -HP result have +15 Debuff and cost additional 5MP to cast, access to racial transformation spell

Personal Spell Book
Known Spells:
  • Spell: Circle of Respite (Healing)
    Bonus: -60
    Cost: 15 MP
    Effect: HP+ ||| MP+ (caster determines how much of the total can be absorbed by each person entering the circle, and whether it is restored to HP or MP; once all of the total has been used up, the circle disintegrates.)
    Method: Inscription ||| Source: Divine
    Use: This Healing magic is cast on an area rather than a person. The more potent the caster the wider a circle they can select. Once cast, anyone who enters the space will be rejuvenated. While the amount of health and magic is returns is small, its effects on morale should not be underestimated. By providing a second wind, soothing exhaustion, hunger, or desperation, the Respite offered here enables parties to regroup and coordinate their efforts.

  • Spell: Charismaster (Emotive)
    Bonus: -40
    Cost: 5 MP
    Effect: (while this magic doesn't actually affect the ability to act, those watching will find themselves more impressed with those normal actions than they might otherwise have been)
    Method: Transmutation ||| Source: Divine
    Use: This magic improves the target's natural appeal, affecting their allure, credibility, magnetism, charm and ability to captivate. Some of the best performers use this magic to ensure they please the crowd, but it has also been used in the past by crooked politicians wishing to whip up the populous to support their goals for power.

  • Spell: Spell Mimic (Illusions)
    Bonus: 0
    Cost: 5 MP
    Effect: HP 0 ||| MP 0 (application)
    Method: Casting ||| Source: Practical
    Use: This illusion can pretend to be any other magic, except that its physical affects are pure illusion. The more senses a particular Spell would normally effect, the harder the mimic will become. Sometimes, at a glance it is enough to convince or deter another individual regarding a chosen course of action.

  • Spell: Telekinesis (aether)
    Bonus: -60 for healing; -35 for attacking
    Cost: 20 MP
    Effect: HP+/- (this can be used to help or harm, depending on the caster's application) ||| MP 0
    Method: Focus ||| Source: Divine
    Use: Using energy as a force to grasp and move matter with one's will. The weight and size of the object is directly proportionate to the difficulty of manipulating it. Energy can be used to push, pull, lift or throw things. Targets with their own innate motion are more challenging to overpower and manipulate than stationary ones. Combining this spell with transmutation magics, like Weightless or Gravity, can ease the strain on the caster.

  • Spell: Triage (healing)
    Bonus: -60
    Cost: 5 MP
    Effect: HP+ ||| MP 0
    Method: Casting ||| Source: Divine
    Use: This magic can heal illnesses, repair damage to muscle, organ and bone. Unlike Restore, which merely reverts an object or person, Triage does not affect the person's timeline, and enables them to more quickly heal. It can also be used on old wounds to erase scar tissue, or on ailments caused by aging or mutation.

Abrus
Abrus was busy minding him own self, sipping a wonderful organic chai tea with soymilk, when he saw something that the kirin could just not ignore. There was this shade of green, that since the "incident" always turned the kirin's stomach, and he was seeing it again, right now. The Kirin huffed indignantly, and then stomped his way over to the offending color.

"You! Imp!" The kirin said, raising his voice as he neared the individual in question. "You! Your that imp that disgraced me in front of Ms lady Kiera!" Abrus was all in a huff now, and he proceeded to set his organic chai tea with soymilk down, so as to take off one of his white gloves. The kirin raised said glove and used it to slap the imp's cheek. "I challenge you, Sir to a duel!"

                              With a long sigh, Celedrin sunk down low into his chair. Nothing felt better than a plush armchair and a frothy cappuccino after a long day of study. He smiled contently and sipped at his drink, only to click his tongue a moment later when it proved too hot. Blowing over the top of the drink, Celedrin gave it another try. It still singed but went down easier. And did he detect a sprinkling of hazelnut? His tail twitched in pleasure. Leaning back in his chair, the imp set aside the cup and closed his eyes, a picture of relaxtion...

                              Slap!

                              He could not have dozed off for more than a moment when something struck him across the face. Celedrin's eyes snapped open. A familiar Kirin stood before him, glove in hand. “What do you think... is that...” Celedrin could not find the words. His tongue seemed to be tying itself into knots. “Did you just slap me?!” he burst out at last.

Abrus
"Are you blind?" Abrus asked aggressively. "Yes i just slapped you! And ill do it again! You know you ruined my chances with that beautiful Kirin! And you dont even realize it!" Abrus's hands balled up into fists as he realized the imp had no idea what he was talking about. The imp probably thought that whole corruption event had been traumatic for him, Abrus remembered how he had passed out on the floor, pretending to be scared for the attention. It sickened the Kirin. Imps were what was wrong with the underground, and well, lots of things, but imps sure did add to the unpleasantness of it all.

                              If Celedrin did not recognise the kirin before, he definitely recognised him now. That haughty, melodramatic, indignance was unmistakable. It revived traumatic memories he would have sooner forgotten. As the kirin's hands balled into fists, the imp reacted instinctively. He did not quite understand what he had done to earn the other's ire, but he had little doubt he would pay for it unless he acted quickly. He threw up an arm to protect himself.

                              It was like a small bomb detonated.

                              Celedrin flew backwards, jettisoning over the back of his chair and into a table. Stars swam in his vision from the blast. As his sight steadied he saw onlooking nightmares and daydreams regarding him in horror. “Er... That wasn't supposed to...” he stammered. His eyes went to Abrus, who had only narrowly avoided being caught in the magical backlash.

                              Well, there went any hope of a peaceful resolution.

                              Turning on his heel, Celedrin took off running.

Abrus
Abrus snorted a laugh at the imp as he hurt himself. Sadly, he did not have all that much time to enjoy Celery's mishap, as he was readying his own spell. /he drew on his love for Kiera, the kirin he had met at the same time he had the misfortune of meeting this imp. Well, it did seem like the world liked this thing called "fair". Abrus had found something beautiful, amazing, so of course he had to run into something awful as well. Abrus thought of his love's long tail that swished in the wind, the almost half smile on her face. She was like a mona-lisa painting. You could tell she was smiling, but only barely. Only by a slight twinkle in her eyes.

                              Celedrin had nearly made it to the door, when something smashed into his back. He staggered and pitched forwards. Sprawling face down on the ground, he groaned. Pain radiated around his back. Maybe one of his disks had shattered. Maybe he had even snapped his. Maybe he would be paralysed for life. Or maybe—he flipped onto his back—it just really hurt to have a chair thrown at you.

                              Crawling to his feet, Celedrin resumed his retreat. Soon, he was up and running again. Hands shaking, he cast a hasty spell over his shoulder. He fumbled the gestures though and the magic dissolved.

                              “I didn't do anything!” Celedrin wailed as he fled into the streets.

Abrus
Abrus was having fun now, and an evil laugh escaped his throat. The imp had failed, again, just like an imp. The kirin stomped over, his hooves like weapons ready to strike. Instead tho, he used the powers within to make a fairly large potted plant fly right for the imp. This feeling of power and control made Abrus feel alive. This fad, this new interest in battle magic was just what Abrus needed. It made him feel oh so in control, and as well, it was a nice outlet for any minor stresses that might be hiding. This was the life.

                              Oh god, oh god, oh god. He was going to die. He was most definitely going to die. By this point it was clear to the imp that he had a psychopath after him. Maybe the kirin had been infected. Celedrin had not noticed any of the symptoms, but who knew? Maybe it was a more advanced strain of the virus. Or maybe he was just a*****e. Either way this was a thousand times worse than the slimes.

                              Celedrin felt a chill as a shadow passed over him. He looked up just in time to see an enormous potted plant hovering over his head. “Are you serious?” he screeched. His legs frantically windmilled underneath him. He could not seem to move fast enough. Down the pot came. It crashed down between his shoulders and knocked him flat and breathless.

                              By the nine...

                              With a grunt, the tiny imp arched his back and shoved off the pot. Bits of dirt and broken ceramic fell around him. The plant toppled to its side. Celedrin staggered to his feet, holding one shoulder. With his free hand he made a quick gesture and offered up a prayer to the nine divines. Immediate relief flooded through him.

                              “ARE YOU SERIOUS?!” he repeated, furious. He grabbed a chip of ceramic from his shoulder and smashed it at his feet. “Okay, I accept your stupid challenge!”

Abrus
Abrus grinned. He had finally driven the imp to fight. "That's what I thought you imp! Driven to senseless violence! Figures it would be your kind that does it." The kirin shook his head, his long mane of hair swishing in the air just like his fabulous tail. It was the simple things in life that made it worth living. The joy of feeling the wind on his long hair, the excitement of having an imp, desperate and beaten, at his feet. Of course, beaten might have been a bit of a harsh word, its not like he would kill the imp, just, you know, scar him for life, so he would fear all kirin for ever more.

                              Celery said nothing but pursed his lips. He would not let the kirin goad him any longer. Ignoring the kirin's obvious attempt to rile him, he instead flipped through his mental spellbook. He hated offensive magic and everything it stood for, even in the light of his current circumstances, but knew that not everything could be resolved by words or running away.

                              Celedrin extended a hand in the beginning motions of a spell. Palm out and facing Abrus he slowly lowered his fingers. Though he could not see it, he could feel the magic leave him, as it descended over its target with sleepy intent.

                              More forceful measures did not always mean more violent.

Abrus
Abrus got over his terribly embarrassing mishap with the last spell and decided to amp it up a bit. Potted plants were one thing, but what about hot-dog stands? Abrus was not exactly a fan of hot dogs anyway, they were commoner food. Perfect for an imp tho, right? The Kirin grinned, only a little malice in his smile. He was going to laugh if the imp loved hot dogs or something silly like that. Abrus cackled as he lifted the hot dog stand into the air, watching weeners flying here and there. A bottle of ketchup joined the hot dog stand on its way to the poor imp and Abrus felt it fitting. Ketchup for the imp.

                              Celedrin was hardly surprised when a hot dog stand came hurtling towards him. He had come to expect anything from the unhinged kirin. More importantly though, he felt no fear. Abrus had driven him well past his breaking point. Not that Celedrin noticed.

                              Nerves electric with adrenaline, Celedrin ducked under the food truck. As it swept over him, he kept his attention locked on the Abrus, willing with all his might for the kirin to sleep. Already he could see the effects of his spell. The kirin moved with more languid movements than before and seemed to have trouble standing up straight. Celedrin bit his lip. Suddenly, he saw a large shape come speeding towards him out of the corner of his eye.

                              The hot dog stand crashed into him from the opposite side and Celedrin went flying. He tumbled over the pavement, earning several bumps and scratches. Dazed only for a moment, he scrambled to his feet, bearing a split lip. He oriented himself to face Abrus once more and extended his palm.

                              Sleep.

Abrus
With a grunt, Abrus sent out a burst of energy. He managed to get a rather large boulder up into the air, and sent it flying, going in with all he had. Abrus's tail swished with victory. A little slower than it would have had those sleep spells not gotten quite such a hold on him. But he had won! He wanted to gloat over the imp, but he... was just to tired. "Take... THAT"! The kirin said between yawns. He turned, trying to make a dramatic exit, but could not help but ruin it by dragging his sleep laden hooves.
