Anandi didn't know Shiloh's working hours. Honestly, she hadn't seen him much since depositing him into the care of Judge Alexei post-youma attack. She'd been worried about him - his mental and physical health. They'd exchanged phone numbers during their last encounter and while she didn't want to bother Shiloh while he was working, she was still very concerned about him. Alexei simply said he was "fine", but that simply wasn't enough information to satisfy her. Being that he too was a Page, Anandi felt her duty was to protect and guide him to learn to protect himself. Just like Saint Michel had mentioned - teach them to protect themselves. She couldn't always be around to protect Shiloh and Alexei... she needed Shiloh to be strong enough to step up to the plate, as it were. That was far in the future though, when Shiloh was at least a Squire. Until then, Anandi would Mama Bird the snot out of the shy man. She sent him a text, complete with emoji, to find out if he was free. Quote: HI MISTER SHILOH! emotion_kirakira emotion_kirakira It's me, Sutai~ Are you free today?? I want to take you out to ice cream or something so we can catch up! I haven't seen you in a while! Please let me know, okay? BYE! emotion_bigheart

Shiloh's mornings and afternoons were relatively quiet. He wasn't much for leaving his home when he didn't have to work, or if it didn't involve Alexei or Ellis, so on those days he didn't have anything planned, he just lounged about his tiny apartment, sewing and listening to music play softly in the background. He wouldn't deny he jumped slightly, startled by the sudden ping of his phone, confused as to who would message him at this time of day. Then again, it was nearly three in the afternoon, and not everyone worked nights like he did. It shouldn't have been that big of a surprise. To his surprise and delight, it was the sweet Squire who had rescued him some time ago, and had delivered him safely to the Judge. If it wasn't for her... Well, he'd probably have been eaten. He was so incredibly grateful to her and did wish to see her again, but his general anxiety was a bit much and held him back. Luckily, she contacted him first and he eagerly responded. Oh! Hello Miss Sutai! What is your real name? I should probably save your contact info under that. I would love to catch up with you, if you have some time. I don't want to be a bother or anything. There's an Ice Creamery a few blocks away on Emmerson Street if you like. Would that work for you?

Anandi quickly tapped back a reply, eager to do something other than patrol or work through complex software coding. She had taken the day off and was more than pleased to find out that Shiloh had some free time as well (and that he seemed okay!) Quote: Oh that is PERFECT! I will be there soon, okay? Do you need me to pick you up or something? My car isn't the best but it gets you places! I saw that place on Yelp. It's got good reviews? How does that sound~? PS My name isn't really Sutai. You can call me Anandi. wink I'm only Sutai when I'm in a tutu, just like you're only Susquehanna when you're... not Shiloh! I'LL SEE YOU SOON OKAY BYE

Well Anandi it is then! :D The place is really nice, and I can walk there, it's not so far from where I live! I'll see you shortly, if that's okay with you. Shiloh couldn't help but have a tiny bit of a smile as he slipped his phone into his packet and started grabbing things for his outing. Keys, wallet... Luckily he wasn't anywhere important on his sewing project so everything was quick and easy to put down. A few minutes later he arrived at the place, nervously fidgeting with the phone in his hands and hoping he'd recognized Anandi without all the glitz and glam she normally wore as Sutai... Not that he actually knew how glamours worked.

Well, that made things easy! Without having to worry about picking Shiloh up, Anandi input the address of the Ice Creamery into her phone to use its GPS. She'd never been there before and could use all the help she could get. Radio turned on to the Destiny City Top 40's station and she was off. According to her GPS, it would take about ten minutes in current traffic conditions. Thankfully, when Anandi pulled up in her well-loved maroon sedan, the Ice Creamery had a few open spaces for parking. Today was one of the first full days of warm weather and the people of Destiny City were out in full force to enjoy it. The Ice Creamery was a destination for many people today, a nice line forming behind the counter. Anandi practically bounced through the door and stopped to look for her friend Mister Shiloh. The young man was easy to spot - shy and seated in a secluded corner of the store. Trotting up to him, Anandi practically squished herself into his side of the booth for a hug. "Hi Mister Shiloh! It's me~ How are you doing?? Can I buy you an ice cream~?"

Shiloh never was one who was good in social situations. He remembered before, when he went out for coffee with the judge, he had his own internal mental shutdown until Alexei was kind enough to place a firm hand on his shoulder. He always did need some sort of assuring touch or guidance to keep him rooted to this earth and not get lost in his own self doubts. Right now he didn't seem to have anything of the sort, and nervously fidgeted as he awaited Anandi's arrival. Yet it came far too soon and when he was approached by the young woman he didn't quite recognized, he nearly let out a squeak in surprise, thoroughly surprised by her sudden arrival. He did not recognize her at first, but only one person seemed to be so bubbly that he knew of... Plus her announcement seemed to point that she knew him, so he could only assume it was who he thought it was. "M-miss Anandi...? I... I'm fine!" He managed to squeak back, leaning into her hug awkwardly. Shiloh was still trying to get used to physical affection, especially since there had only ever been one person in his life that managed to breach that little barrier he had put up around himself. Yet, Anandi's hugs were warm and almost motherly, reminding him of something he had forgotten so long ago that he just couldn't help but hug her back. "T-that's okay! I can buy it myself..."

Anandi noted Shiloh's fidgeting when she all but tackled him for a Big Sister-brand hug. She didn't mean to come on so strongly, but Anandi was so excited to see that he was okay. She would apologize for it soon. "Yes Mister Shiloh, that's me! It's so good to see you! I'm so glad you're okay! Don't you worry, I'll go get you an ice cream, okay? I have a great idea~" Before Shiloh could even think about protesting a free ice cream, Anandi had already disappeared to wait in line. The Ice Creamery, as she had read on Yelp, had a very special ice cream sundae not listed on the menu. One had to know exactly what to ask for. This particular store (as the Ice Creamery was a franchise chain unique to Destiny City) had a small menu of specialty desserts - one was specifically made for a bad breakup, one for an anniversary celebration, and one for best friends. Anandi knew she and Shiloh weren't best friends, but the Best Friend Sundae had rave reviews, so it had to be good, right? With their order paid and received, Anandi did her best not to bounce back to the table with Shiloh's Best Friends Sundae. It was a tall sundae glass with three scoops of ice cream in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry flavors, covered in sprinkles, gummy bears and two chocolate waffle cones shaped into straws. Anandi beamed from the other side of the booth. "Don't you worry, Mister Shiloh. You definitely deserve delicious ice cream after everything that happened! So... did everything work out okay with Mister Alexei? He seems so scary but once you get to know him, he seems like a very kind person!"

What... What was happening? It was all too much for Shiloh, the sudden hug, the lack of a chance to protest, and Anandi's excited bouncing away again. The fidgeting just became worse, though he did his best to keep it just to his hands instead of letting himself retreat into his mind like he sometimes did. Anandi was kind and sweet but overwhelming, especially in a more social scenario that this was... And then he was alone, looking on helplessly as he was made to wait for the girl to return. He did his absolute best to try to remain calm, and bit his lip hard too keep distracted. It felt as if all eyes were on him because he had been by someone for such a short amount of time before he was left alone again, and maybe, just maybe, those strangers would think he had done something wrong. That somehow, he made her leave, even if she was just at the counter. But thank the stars she had returned, with a rather large Sundae nonetheless. Just the size of it and it's extravagance was enough to momentarily distract him from the panic he so readily submitted himself to. "Is... That for us...? I-I um... Thank you.." He murmured, giving her a shy sort of smile and gently taking up a spoon to use. "It did... yes... I even got to spend the night with him... He is very kind..." Thinking back on it, he really was a scary man when you first meet him, Shiloh thought to himself, recalling when they first met. "... He did make me cry by accident when we first met. I-It wasn't his fault though, promise!"

It did... yes... I even got to spend the night with him... He is very kind... emotion_jawdrop Alexei? Shiloh? Spending the night??How SCANDALOUS. Anandi was never one for deception, nor could she hide the emotion that shone very plainly on her face. She wasn't a manipulative person by any means, and wore her heart on her sleeve. In this case, she busted out the patented Googly-Eyes in an effort to gain just a little more information about the relationship between the shy janitor and the stern and imposing judge. At the very least, she kept her voice low so as not to scare the living daylights out of poor Shiloh, who looked like he was about to wet himself. "Is he cuddly? I bet he's very cuddly, because you know that stereotype about stern men being all squishy and sugary on the inside when you break through their tough exterior? Is he like that, Mister Shiloh? OH, I'm so happy for you two! I had no idea, but this is such wonderful news! I'm so happy for you!!" They were simply meant to be as far as Anandi was concerned - two star-crossed lovers. One was in a high-profile position of power, the other ran in much different social circles. It was like Anandi's favorite romance movies. Of course, she could be reading the entire situation incorrectly, but she couldn't help the Googly Eyes. emotion_kirakira

Shiloh was halfway through a bite of the delicious looking sundae when he realized that Anandi seemed surprised about something. Though.. Surprised didn't seem to be the right word, and it quickly shifted to something else that made him a little worried.... Had he said something wrong? Oh. Oh no, it wasn't that at all... She was being nosy and Shiloh immediately blushed at her comments and questions, casting his gaze downwards as he tried to fight the reddening of his cheeks. Needless to say, he failed horribly. "I-I didn't m-mean it like that..." He muttered again, wanting to hide behind his hands, but choosing to try to keep himself together. After all, Alexei was a very Private man and he probably shouldn't have even said what he had said. Too late for that though.. "W-we just... I-I was afraid to go home alone... I-I live alone, and it's scary sometimes and h-he said I could spend the night... I-I mean, we did share a bed b-b-but it wasn't anything romantic or anything! H-he just... He makes me feel safe.... Please, please, please don't tell him I said that... H-he might be mad at me..."

Shiloh's reaction to her nosy assumptions made Anandi feel very guilty for being so thoughtless. "Oh, Mister Shiloh, I'm so very sorry for saying that and embarrassing you. I didn't mean to and I promise I won't say anything about it, okay? I extra super duper promise, I won't say a word! Don't you worry, okay?" Finding out that he lived alone and that he was frightened had Anandi wringing her hands. She had just assumed Shiloh happened to stutter because of the very terrifying near-death experience at the hands of a youma. The fact that he stuttered now, out in public without any sort of danger, indicated something else entirely. "He makes me feel safe too. I think that's just how Mister Alexei is. You know, he seems to have everything together, and has such a good grip on things. He's wise, too! I'm glad he makes you feel safe. That was very kind of him, to make sure you were safe. His house is probably better than mine anyway. Our family is very big and very loud and that probably wouldn't help at all." She leaned over to take a spoonful of the vanilla ice cream and a few gummy bears. "Anyway, I haven't seen any more youma since that night, so that's good! Maybe they're staying away. I try to do patrols every night, especially knowing how vicious they can be and how sometimes you have to go outside, Mister Shiloh. Have you... you know..." Dropping her voice to a whisper, she tried to keep this part of the conversation private. "....have you powered up since then? I can teach you lots of stuff and make sure you're strong enough to protect Mister Alexei too!"

For a long moment Shiloh just looked down, recomposing himself enough to look back at her new friend. She was extremely sweet, truly, and her apology was genuine, from what he could tell. And he knew Alexei had been kind to her as well, and Alexei had a very good sense of people for sure, so he felt like he could trust her right away. Which was fantastic, since there wasn't much he felt comfortable with these days. "It's okay, Anandi... R-really... Alexei is wonderful in so many ways... I-I don't want to do anything that would make him think that I had... That I had betrayed his trust or something..." Relaxing, he ate a bit more, finding his nerves ebb away. "His house is very much nicer than my own apartment, I can promise you that... And it's really really big, but lonely... I-I wonder if he is lonely too..." His comments were made absently as he took another spoonful of the ice cream, it's coolness calming and relaxing him just as much as Anandi's reassurances did. The question about powering up came as a surprise, and he slowly shook his head. "I haven't had time to... I work nights all the time... And that's when the monsters come out... By the time I can go out, day is already breaking... I-I would like to learn more though, I-if you're willing... I just don't know when..."

"Mister Alexei is pretty wonderful. He's like a strong big brother or an uncle or a father. It's easy to feel safe around him. But you're pretty wonderful too, Mister Shiloh! You're super cute and sweet and nice. I hope you don't mind if I be your friend? If you're okay with it, that is!" The sundae halfway finished, this whole ice cream social idea seemed like an excellent one. Ice cream had the magical property of making most everyone happier. She listened intently to Shiloh, learning that Alexei too lived alone and his house didn't sound very inviting. Shiloh might have been even more frightened had Alexei's calming nature not been there to help him. "You know, Mister Shiloh, I bet Mister Alexei really appreciates your company and your help. You don't expect him to be anything other than himself, right?" Tilting her head, she gave the nervous young man a sunny smile. "You're not asking him to finish some paperwork or go to a meeting or preside over a court case. I'm sure he really appreciates that. He can be himself around you instead of having to worry about what you might need from him." The number of gummy bears diminishing, Anandi leaned back to allow the brunette to finish the last of the Best Friends Sundae. "Don't you worry about the whole... umm..." Air quotes. " Training stuff. I understand! Working all the time really cuts into your ability to do anything else. You just let me know when you're available and you want to, okay~?"

"I-I... Um... I thought we were already friends, Miss Anandi." He pointed out, smiling a little now. Shiloh wouldn't call Alexei a brother, uncle, or father when being around him. It was something much more.... Intense than that. It took an incredible type of person to calm Shiloh down when he was losing it, and Alexei was able to do so with just a kind glance or a hand on his shoulder. He was incredible to be around, even if they were simply sitting in silence together. And the card in his wallet with the little note scribbled on it was more than enough to get him through tougher times, because Shiloh knew he had one person there with him, cheering him on from the sidelines. Needless to say, Shiloh was sure he never wanted to do anything to lose the trust or affections of the other. Another blush came to his cheeks when Anandi complimented him and shook his. "I'm no one special... But I think it goes both ways with me and him... He calms me down and I want nothing more than to spend time with him... Even when I have nothing to say, he keeps me around and smiles at me and just... H-he makes me feel happy, for sure... And I'm... I do hope that I make him feel the same way." Soon the ice cream was gone between them, and Shiloh just continued to smile a rather shy smile, but seemed much more relaxed than he had earlier. "I'll make some time, for sure.... I want to protect him still, and I can't do that if I don't get stronger... Right? Right. Just please... Have patience with me... I-it's still so very new..."

Anandi could tell something was up between Shiloh and Mister Alexei, but dare not breathe another word of it further. Instead, she decided to watch from the sidelines and try not to giggle and squeal too loudly if some moonlight rendezvous happened while under her watch at the judiciary building. Oh, what a romantic thought! Big, strong, stoic Mister Alexei~ It was like a romance movie. How perfect! Tee hee~"You are too special, Mister Shiloh. You're special to me and to Mister Alexei! I know it's probably hard to think of yourself that way -- nobody wants a big ego, you know? -- but you're special and a friend! I promise I won't say anything. I'll just keep doing my job and keeping the building and everybody in it safe. I promise!" Anandi waved her hand in dismissal when Shiloh seemed upset at the thought of training right away. Anandi had a lot of patience when it came to other people, really. "Don't you worry, Mister Shiloh. When you're ready, you're ready. You just let me know! I know it's difficult with working late nights and everything, and having bills to pay. Sometimes life gets in the way of... well... other life. But I'll stick around in the meantime and help out wherever I can!" The sundae finished, the young Indian woman scooped it up to return it to the counter for washing. Profusely thanking the workers behind the counter for a delicious treat, she promised to write a glowing review for them on Yelp. Returning to the booth with Shiloh, she couldn't help but think this ice cream run was a complete success. "Really, I'm glad you're okay. Mister Alexei was worried about you too. Fighting the youma can be very difficult but... it's easier when you have someone important to protect. Yes indeed!"
