Meadow didn't care how crowded it was. Art was art. Were all these students from the same class? He didn't even care. For all he knew one teacher was sick and everyone had art together. The artistically inclined naiad was standing in front of his easel, painting happily away. He'd already painted his face a little, getting a surprisingly well done flower on his cheek before he had even started painting the page. His paper has a rather expansive skyline, clouds, rainbows, and the bottom of the page had what might have been a mountain range, dotted with trees. He loved painting so much. He paused when a rumpled paper rolled near his foot. It seemed like the demon beside him had been having some issues. She wasn't giving up though. Meadow ignored her for a moment as she started working on her flower, but finally he was too curious. Tucking his paint brush behind his frilled ear, he stepped over to look at her art. "Whatcha painting?" He wanted to see what was so hard.

He didn't mean to make her jump and smudge the line like that, but art was organic. If you make a mistake, you own it and move on. She could totally make that part of her picture. But before he could say anything, she was pointing at his face with her brush, blopping his chin with a bit of paint. He grinned, wiping some of it off and tapping her nose with the painted finger.

"I did it with my paint brush." He said as if it were just that simple. "You want one? What's' your favorite color?" He pulled the brush from behind his ear, smearing a little paint in his hair as he did. "And which cheek?" He was totally un-phased by her apology, not even caring that she had painted on him.

"Hmmm. I did get red, blue and white. I can make light purple!" He turned back to his paints and dipped his brush in the colors, then put the pain in his palm to mix it up so he could get the color right. As he did, he blinked at her. "Huh? I didn't have to see it. The paint is cold, so I could tell where I was putting it." It was simple really. "Ok, I like this shade of purple. Hold still." He brought the brush up to her cheek and gently dabbed the purple onto her cheek. The paint was cool, not quite warmed by his hand when he mixed the paint, but not shockingly cold either.

It only took a moment for him to finish the little flower. Like his, it was simple and stylized. "Hey, I think that's my best one yet!" He admired his work for a moment. "Yeah, I really like that color. It goes nice with your hair. Oh... uh, you might want to be careful or you'll get paint in your hair. But it's ok if you do! I know a kirin who knows how to get paint out of hair really well!"

"Eh?" He blinked then laughed. "I get paint in my hair all the time. It's not important. What matters is that I get the art done." He nodded. "I an always clean up when I'm done." He looked at the paint in his hand. "I can use this to paint birds in the sky now too. They'll look all distant and faded cause they'd be so light." Yes, that sounded like a plan to him.

"You like it? Thanks! I'm going to be a famous artist some day." He stepped back to his painting and started doodling little w shapes for the flying birds. "Hm... I think... mine turns out because I'm not worried about it looking like anything. I just paint what I think looks good. It all ends up coming together eventually." He lowered his brush. "If I make a mistake, or something doesn't look ok, I can just paint over it."

Meadow smiled. "You're not that bad." He watched as the girl started streaking the painting. "Oh! That's a cool idea! Smudge the wet paint so it looks all stylized and looks kind of sketchy! You're brilliant!" Meadow was watching as she worked. "I bet your grandpa will love it. Does he live around here? If not I bet it will be really nice for him to see the flowers we have here."

He blinked when the teacher cried out suddenly, and then started laughing seeing the fish. "That's you skyfish? They're so pretty! You'll have to come see my familiars sometime..." He paused as she introduced herself. "That is quite a mouthful of a name. Pepper it is! I'm Meadow." He held his hand out to her, then pulled it back, stuck his paint brush in his teeth and held out the hand without paint. "Esh ice thoo eetchuu!"

He shook her hand happily, though he really didn't know why people shook hands. It seemed odd, but everyone did it. When he was able to take the paint brush out of his mouth, he smiled. "Aw, that's awesome that he comes and visits. I should ask my parents to come and see me and Wren. We haven't seen them in a while. Hey, when your grandfather comes, can I meet him too?"

He listened to her talk about her familiars. "Whoa! I don't have any skyfish OR specterfoxes! I'm jealous!" He laughed. "I've got a slime, two seelpups, a mutated rat, two bats, a kidden, a jackalope, and a vespercat." He listed them off.

"Well... Maybe he thinks you will be happier here. You made a lot of friends, like you said. And you can keep a bunch of familiars in the dorms. And besides, he's old. Maybe he thinks you're too energetic for him to keep up with? But it's obvious he loves you." He shrugged. Not knowing the man, all he could do was speculate. "But yeah, if my parents ever come to visit, I'll introduce you, sure." He saw no reason not to. "My brother too. We're twins."

"Sealpups are fun to take care of too. And flitterrats. I think you'd like them. Hey, we can go get them and play with them after class if you want." He offered, picking up a rag and starting to clean the purple paint off his hand. It wasn't all going to come off. He'd have to reeeeeeeeeeeeally wash to get clean.
