The days passed too quickly. Sunday became Thursday in short order, and Scholomance realized he packed far too much in his days as a means to distract himself from confronting the inevitable. Pouring himself into demanding daily routines only compounded the stress on his arm, and left him exhausted for another day in more of the same. He needed to make a change - even if that change would not come about on its own. So in an unbidden break from his job, he left early and donned the visage of Scholomacne to venture through the open-air 'second floor' of Destiny City.

And venture he did, with many a rooftop passed behind him that separated him from his very real tethers. His pawn shop was notable as an anchor to the city itself - a fixed point to which he must always return. Similarly, it became a liability for how anyone might connect the one-armed owner with the one-armed knight that often patrolled in the area. He needed to switch it up, to either sell the place and regain a sense of free time or distance himself greatly from such an area to prevent further suspicion. Or he could remain ballsy about it, and retain a patrol in the business district as a tactical choice, and mix in patrols elsewhere. Either way, he wanted to get away from such pressures tonight.

He left behind the business district for the old town district, where rustic theatres and heritable buildings stood staunchly against the destruction from the war. He crested a particularly famous sign, ornate in hanging and lurid in painted declaration of a long-gone chinese eatery. Here, he maintained a decent vantage point for surveying the rest of the notably shorter end of the city, and found no obvious signs of chaos in the immediate vicinity. A shame, too - he needed a distraction, an outlet.

Seldom had he found much in the way of Order or Chaos lately, leaving him to wonder what might have both factions so wholly occupied. If he could find someone, perhaps he would ask.

Further on the horizon, perhaps just within the scope of his attention, a White Moon's faint energy lingered. He knew not to whom it belonged or where they might be going, but simple being promised enough of a reason for Scholomance to intercept them. With care, he leapt from the top of the sign to another parapet and ran its length before leaping between buildings. More than a handful still remained between himself and his intended target, though the path would pass quickly if they held still long enough for Scholomance to play catchup.

He really wished sometimes it would be reasonable to keep a map on hand. Namely a notated map that he was allowed to label and not worry about what would happen if he lost that. But there were a lot of reasons why that was a horrible idea. Minchir instead found himself taking to rooftops more often than not in this new city. A particularly high rooftop was chosen and he turned, scanning towards home, as well as a few other landmarks.

Okay, note to self: Don't have to get a ride home with the police again. His mother had thrown a fit when her son was gone for a night, didn't answer any of her calls, and then at about 2 the next day was delivered to their doorstep. 'I got lost' wouldn't be a convenient excuse for being gone all night in the future....and he also needed to figure out how to get to his own home despite that. There was also the added benefit of the nice breeze that didn't smell like people when he was up above them all, instead getting a nice faceful of smog and exhaust instead.

Made him miss the cleaner tourist-filled air of home. Destiny City hadn't become such a place yet.

He'd barely touched the second rooftop when the aura barely danced across his senses, causing Minchir to pause, his head slowly turning to look across the horizon to watch for figures - anything that signaled somebody was coming his way. It wasn't long before he noticed the being moving from roof to roof. It wasn't a far jump to move forward a rooftop to at least meet him midway.

Once landed, he raised a had in a hailing greeting.

"Yo!"

Yo, the boy called, and Scholomance could immediately appreciate the lackadaisical expression. Yo felt so much more carefree, more hopeful than the past several months of his life. For that, Scholomance felt a little more grateful for running across such a boy in the wide span of Destiny City's ever-present shitshow. He almost laughed behind the mask for such a greeting to impact his sour mood.

Scholomance's trajectory wound down to a walk at last, and the knight took pause in conversational distance from his newest conversant. Standing there, taking in the lilting blues and sunny yellows of the boy's uniform, Scholomance played the sphere guessing game to a nigh-immediate surrender when no part of him gave an obvious clue. But the outfit itself looked cheerful, sunny almost, which left Scholomance all the more at a loss for determining power set. Still, he left no great gap in the conversation. That would be rude.

"Yo yourself," Scholomance returned easily. To speak so informally with someone in a powered setting felt strange, for how long it had been. "My name is Scholomance. Saturn Knight, for what it's worth. You haven't seen any Negaverse agents around these parts, have you? They make great parchment for sending messages. A touch unwilling at first, but you can beat the compliance out of them eventually." The joke fell a little flat to his own ears, with its incessant leaning on violence. He knew not how long he harbored such twisting rage, but he recognized at once how it seeped into his demeanor and affected his normally easy attitude.

Picking his flings might grow a bit more desperate now, he supposed. Not that this one looked a day over eighteen…

"I apologize. It's been a while since I've been able to talk with someone I didn't know. Got a bit rusty at it."

There was a certain lack of aggression that made Minchir relax further as the Knight approached him - that was his solid guess based on his previous meeting with Anakeion, that this man was also a Knight. Were they fairly common in Destiny City? Not that he'd had the longest career as a Senshi back home, but in less than a month here he'd come across two vs his entire none before.

He laughed when Sholomance returned his greeting, a permanent smile affixed on the young man's face. "Nice to meetcha, Scholomance," he did his best to not butcher the other man's name, given it would have been impolite for a first meeting, "I'm Minchir, Senshi of Day," he introduce and keeping absolutely no secrets to himself. Then a gain, it wasn't much of a secret. He was a senshi, he was of Minchir. Simple stuff. He shrugged and shook his head at Scholomance's question, but at least seemed to chuckle at the parchment joke. "Do you use their blood to write on the parchment or does that fade too quickly? I don't usually beat compliance out of them either," he was used to his group of 5 and their small group takedowns. There was no beating...only death.

"You're good. Didn't bother me at all," he shrugged, then laughed. "City is big and seems like most here are...somewhat established. I'm just trying to hit that point at least for a bit."

Minchir, of Day. What sort of a sphere was that? What did one do with Day, really? Some of the senshi spheres strayed so far beyond his capacity for imagination that Scholomance was left scratching his head about them. Day, it seemed, numbered among their ilk. He only hoped that, for Minchir's sake, the magic with which he was endowed proved useful in confrontation. All too often, he saw senshi resorting to their magic as a last defense, and often it failed to impress.

"No, not at all," he replied as the senshi attempted to keep up with the dark humor. A thought placed the familiar weight of wrought bone and dura mater in his hand, and Scholomance hoisted his coiled whip into view. "That's what this is for. A few strikes, and there's enough of a presence on their backs to give their superiors pause." Or so he hoped; he hadn't yet found enough of their unwilling lieutenants in order to test his theory. And if lieutenant lives meant as little to them as Scholomance expected, then he would need to proceed through many of their kind before someone like Schörl or Cinnabar took notice. No, the twin terrors of the Negaverse would not harken to such an easy call.

I should hope you're not beating orgasms out of them, with a smile like that. Though I wouldn't put it past a few that I've met.

The whip faded in a passing thought and Scholomance shifted contrapposto. The comment made by his newest conversant seemed unduly vague. "Trying to get your bearings, then? You're new here?"

"Oh. You send them home," Minchir said, with a nervous, dark laugh. "That seems to be a common policy around here." Alphard just wanted to chase them off too, but...that hadn't been an option. Not back home. "I'm definitely not a Destiny City native." he confirmed, though purposely didn't mention from where. While Cassian was a bit more open with his origins, Minchir knew the right information to the wrong group could be disastrous. Especially for the people still there.

"The worst thing I can be at this point, is uninformed of where my safe areas are." Not that Minchir was expecting to have to flee from battle, but knowing where he could be Cassian and where he could be Minchir kept his family safe. It was an important distinction to make since they'd move from one front of the war to another. Were they safer here than before?

"So that's about where I'm at. Haven't found too much mischief in the night while I've been out and about so far but..." Minchir shrugged, rolling his head back and stretching out his shoulders. "The night is young and I can find all sorts of trouble," even if he would have been safer to find it in a group.

"Well I could just murder them on the spot, and that'd be all well and nice, but unless I'm leaving one helluva signature then they're not going to know exactly which Saturn knight did the deed. And, it seemed to me that scrawling my name across the wall in their blood or some tacky s**t like that would just get the cops on me in short order. They still rather frown at murder around here. So, safest bet is to send them packing with a few terrible scars so they can cry foul to one general in particular. That one's a little more satisfying than pocket change." The implication on his part was not forgotten - Scholomance made careful note of it against the bright yellows and tame blues of his outfit. Day got dark, it seemed.

Scholomance could appreciate the irony. "There's not a lot in the way of safe areas. Little bastions here and there that senshi and knights have made against the world, really. Maybe a building here or there but nothing so vast as an actual perimeter. Someone I stayed with spoke of places with a candle in the window. That help's there, if you can drag yourself to it." He wondered, then - would Day think to do so in an emergency? Did he put value to his life, or was he like the brunt of the senshi population that saw their power as an invalidation of living on? Did he think he could only have been his best soldier if he stood for something and died in the process?

"Well then, mischief-maker, I shouldn't hold you up. I've got my own mischief to find. If you ever find a general in green, blonde hair, has a cane - stomp her head in for me? Same goes for the dragon lady in red. You'll know her if you see her.

"Carpe diem, my friend." Oh, aren't I that tacky type of clever.

"I don't need them to fear me. I only need them to feel fear," Cass stated calmly. "A reputation sends a mob after me, an unknown will instill caution in any they come across." and while a cautious enemy could be more dangerous, they also became more organized...and organized movements were easy enough to track. The enemy didn't need to be comfortable when they were fine with making his loved ones dead if given half a chance.

"Good to know. More so worried about staying out of sight so I'm not seen going to and from home," by eyes that would happily take advantage of such a situation. It was normal procedure for him. For the sake of anybody involved.

"I'll keep my eyes peeled for both, then. I'll make sure I send your regards as well..." If I let them live. Though this policy was really a surefire way to get himself killed. He'd deal with that when he got there, though. Until then...

"Carpe Noctum to you as well," yes, it was apparently clever to Minchir as well, though for a different reason. "May you find trouble before it finds you."

"You've a smart head about it." And more interest in getting into the physical nitty-gritty than he. But the White Moon needed such tactics if it expected to survive - extending the helping hand to fallen officers amounted to no progress in the war, and one need not be new to such concepts to understand that instantly. They could rescue all they wanted, but they still stood on the edge of a precipice with one misstep spelling disaster. Minchir, at least, had a method seldom tried with promise of success.

He considered, briefly, playing tour guide for the senshi. And perhaps that seemed another sort of tacky to him, or an infringement on the kid's ability to take care of himself in the face of acclimation (especially when, by and large, they each learned to acclimate on their own). Secondarily, doing so felt like rectifying his own shitty situation to himself and making good of it. Scholomance learned to despise powering up due to the difficulty in its learning curve. Minchir appeared to lack this problem.

"Just be careful." He knew that both generals promised disaster, with Cinnabar being the easier victory. Still, no amount of tactic promised to bridge the gap between basic and general. Scholomance may next see Day stricken with night's darkness.

He slipped into the night shortly thereafter, mulling over the approach spoken of by the senshi. He could stand to strengthen his own answer to the Negaverse without allowing his vengeance to cloud his judgment.
